Here we go! Trying Yin's for the first time
Chris M.

Okay. First off I don't think you should rate a Chinese restaurant experience until the food makes it all the way through (if you know what I mean.) Value was good 4.5 stars Heaping pile of orange chicken Piles of fried rice Egg roll Crag Rangoon $12.49 The food was good 4.5 stars All very tasty All white chicken was fire Fried rice was good Egg roll was 5 stars wish I had 10 of them Rangoon was good I did not get sick or get diarrhea. This Chinese joint passed. Don't get scared away by the dated interior. Worth a try.

Years ago I visited this restaurant for lunch and was not so impressed, but now with my latest experience I have my new favorite Asian restaurant. Have they improved their quality or did I just have a poor experience? maybe it was just lunch or I ordered the wrong thing.. I dont know. I recently discovered another restaurant, George Yang's, which is very good fine dining experience. With my latest experience in mind, I nominally prefer the food at Yin's, and its much closer to my home. I normally take-out anyways. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken and the Beijing Chicken for dinner. Both were Excellent. Really Excellent. I am so surprised how fresh and amazing these courses tasted. I could taste the fresh ginger. I wonder if they use a different brand of oyster sauce or something. The aroma and taste was unlike and better than all the other Chinese restaurants in Phoenix. It triggered for me memories of the higher quality food from other areas of the country I have lived and visited. The place is very non-descript almost hidden in a poor neighborhood strip-mall, a casual dining restarant. Definitely a hidden gem, worthy of being in California where real good Asian food is required. My new favorite.

Kung pao chicken combo served in to-go box while dining inside

Came here this past Labor Day weekend craving Chinese food. I ordered the Kung Pao Chicken combo (w/ egg roll & Rangoon). I thought it also came with the egg drop soup, but it does not, unfortunately. The food was alright but could be better, the rice seemed over cooked or old. The food was also served in a to-go box rather than a regular dish plate.

Bland veggie lo mein and fried rice lunch special. $7.33

I wasn't super impressed with the food here. The lunch specials are reasonably priced I guess for the amount of food you get, but it just didn't taste... good? Maybe I've been spoiled with good Chinese food at other places. I got the veggie lo mein lunch special. The noodles weren't very flavorful. It came with a heaping portion of "fried rice" that had no veggies and was incredibly undercooked. I didn't touch the shredded cabbage and egg soup. None of the food tasted fresh to me. My friend's tofu was pretty good though. I don't know if it was what I ordered, or the food just isn't good here, but I don't plan to return. And their non lunch special menu items are actually kinda pricey for Chinese food that isn't authentic.

Won't Disappoint This was my first visit to Yin's and the food and service were great. On this visit I was with a small group. However, we were seated immediately, our menus were given to us promptly, and our drinks were served quickly. All the dish's that we ordered were flavorful and well-seasoned. I ordered medium spice and it was perfect; just what I expected and hoped for. The Crab Rangoon and Potstickers, were delicious. The prices are extremely reasonable, the service is amazing, and the food is delicious, what more can you ask for? If you're ever in the neighborhood stop by you will not be disappointed.

It's probably the fanciest Chinese restaurant I've been to in AZ. The lunch menu is excellent and quite impressive! There are 8 entrees to choose along with a side for only $20. What's crazy is that a full size seafood and wagyu beef belly jjampong is a side! They're regularly $24 so it's a crazy deal to get an additional entree!! We ordered seafood jjampong and wagyu beef jjampong as sides and genghis khan beef and chili garlic fried chicken as mains. The jjampong had that great umami taste without the oiliness that's unavoidable at other restaurants. The ingredients felt very premium and fresh. Ghengis khan beef pieces were very generous and tender with a savory sauce. Chili garlic chicken was a tad salty for me but had great crisp. Service was impeccable and one you'd expect from an upscale restaurant. I can't wait to go back to try other dishes from the lunch menu. I also want to try their happy hour that's available everyday from 4-7PM. All the food items are only $7 and variety looks amazing.

I ordered the seafood jjam-pong and Genghis-khan beef. The jjam-pong was not oily like at other restaurants which I appreciated. It was very flavorful and clean tasting. The atmosphere is relaxed and the service is amazing. Our food came out in record time, but was still hot and tasted of high quality! I recommend coming during their lunch times, I came on a Sunday and they still offered their lunch menu. The lunch menu plates are huge! They come with your entree, soup, chow mein, rice, a crab ragoon, and an egg roll. I ordered the Kung Pao Shrimp and it was delicious. It had a slight kick, bit it wasn't too spicy. The shrimp was cooker perfectly, mot rubbery. My favorite was the egg drop soup, it had tofu in it and it was addictive. I definitely recommend checking George and Sons out!

To be clear, I am a New Yorker and know good fast Chinese food. The ambiance was promising. It looked like I was finally going to find what I've been looking for in Phoenix for years. For whatever reason, Chinese restaurants in Arizona serve egg hockey pucks and cover it with various items and call it egg foo young. I even asked about it before I ordered it. Alas when I got home and saw what I had, I was disappointed. It's faster to make it this way but the egg hockey puck had no taste - zero. They could have at least added oyster sauce, a little soy sauce, maybe nam plah, and perhaps sesame oil. It was tasteless. A complete miss. I also ordered something simple, shrimp spring rolls. They were delicious! I inhaled them and will order them again. I'd go again just for the spring rolls. Maybe they have other dishes that are good and I may not entirely give up but the egg foo young is a no go.

Gotta support local when you can I say! The menu is pretty basic and has all your typical options for Americanized Chinese food. Wanting to get something that had noodles in it, I opted for the combination #1 which has chow mein crispy noodles, pork fried rice, and two tempura shrimp. Quite a lot of food and for a very reasonable price! I think the combo was around $10. If you are a fan of bean sprouts, this is your place. The chow mein had a massive pile of beansprouts on top. The noodles were indeed crispy but they was such a meager portion compared to the beansprouts. The fried rice was pretty basic but also a generous portion and the two tempura shrimp had a nice crispy batter. I tried some of the eggroll too which is one of the most unique versions I've had since the super crispy outer layer was either a different preparation or different wrap material than I'm used to. The interior was made primarily of beansprouts too. Service was good. Our food was prepared fairly quickly.
