Finally got the time to drive out to this Sala Thai location, and it was totally worth it for the…read moreweekend brunch! The crab omelette was fantastic. There was so much flavor infused in the egg, with a solid amount of crab meat added on top, too. I loved the additions to the chicken congee! It was perfectly spicy, with savory pork floss to add in some flavor. The serving was actually pretty large and excellent for the price. Our waiter also let us know that appetizers were half of at the time, so we ended up getting some fresh spring rolls, which were pretty good and refreshing even without meat added. The space overall is clean and more spacious than the Tempe location, with a bar available. Service was very friendly, as well. I would return for their standard menu or to try their other brunch items!

Hearing a friend rave about Sala Thai being the best Thai food in the Valley, I had to try it out…read morefor myself. We went for the first time for lunch on a Sunday recently, meaning we got to try the weekend brunch specials along with their usual menu! The restaurant is located in a small shopping center with ample shared parking. We were immediately seated at a big booth by the bar upon entering, as it wasn't busy at all at the time. We ordered the following: KHAI KRATA (EGG SKILLET) Sunny side eggs cooked in a pan skillet with sweet sausages and pork floss, served with a toasted french bread on the side -- MY FAVORITE DISH!!! A super simple breakfast skillet with a perfect assortment of foods within. A perfect savory breakfast. CRAB FRIED RICE Eggs, onions, and scallions, lightly seasoned -- lightly seasoned indeed, had a very light and fluffy taste to it opposed to very deep and savory crab fried rices I've tried elsewhere in the Valley. definitely not a bad thing and the flavor was still there (opposed to another restaurant in the Valley where there was basically no flavor to the crab fried rice). just a change of pace from what I'm used to! PHAD-THAI Stir-fried rice noodles with egg, bean sprouts, and green onions, topped with cabbage and carrots, side ground peanuts. -- EXTREMELY tangy! again, a different flavor profile than what I'm used to, but I can't say I loved it THIS tangy! It was like 30% too much for me personally. As a non-Thai person, I'm not sure if this is what pad thai more traditionally tastes like, but the tang distracted me from the rest of the flavors in the dish. I will say though, I appreciated overdoing the tang opposed to underdoing the tang and making it way too sweet. Overall not my favorite Thai restaurant in the Valley by any means, but it still offered us a delicious experience, and I wouldn't be opposed to coming back! :)

Coming from out of town and I've been craving Asian food, so I found this restaurant since it…read morewasn't too far from where I'm staying. This is located in a cute strip of local shops and restaurants with plenty of available parking right in front. Walking right in, we were immediately greeted and seated at a table with a good amount of space. Service was a bit slow, but to be fair it seemed like they were understaffed. Once our server got to us those, we didn't wait too long for our food to arrive. Just as a heads up, this place it mainly family style, so portions are HUGE. We only ordered the massaman curry and the drunken dragon noodles for two people and there was more than enough with leftovers afterwards. Taste was pretty good and food was piping hot when it arrived. Overall, not a bad place at all! I would love to try their other dishes if I come back to visit :).

Maybe we're spoiled coming from the SF Bay Area, where good food is practically a competitive sport, but the food was bland, the presentation was underwhelming, and some of the flavors were just...weird. Nothing about it felt particularly authentic. Service was also subpar--slow and inattentive. Honestly, I think more effort went into making the sign outside the restaurant look pretty than into the food. The sign proudly announced, "Spring rolls are back in season!" Wait...spring rolls have a season?? When exactly did they go OUT of season? We kept looking at each other like, "Is it just us?" It wasn't. Lots of hype, very little payoff. We really wanted to like this place, but the whole experience was just a bummer.
