    Kung Pao chicken lunch combo.
    Scott W.

I have been driving past this place for Chinese take out for quite a while but I had been going down the street to another place for over 15 years and it was fine and they knew me. Well that place changed hands and they made all sorts of changes with changing the signage or the paper menus and were not seemingly bothered by it. So I gave this place a try and the food was decent and the people were pleasant. Now I drive a 1/2 mile less each way to get my Chinese takeout.

I came here on a recommendation for good eats in the area and was not utterly disappointed. The place is in a shopping plaza. It's small and could stand a makeover however, the food was served quick and hot. It didn't taste the freshest but, was a cheap hot meal at about $5.50 for a lunch combo. The combos come with fried rice and an egg roll. We tried the orange chicken, beef and broccoli combos as well as bbq pork fried rice and crab puffs. Everything was mediocre. Not some place that I'd choose among all the other spots to go especially since I don't live in the area. The staff were all friendly. If, I may point out you order at the register and your food is brought out to your table. Not a bad choice but, wouldn't be my first Chinese food restaurant to dine at.

HING LOON. TAKE 2. I threw caution to the wind and went against my norm to order only soup and eggrolls only before trying entrees. 1st was the combination fried rice (a.k.a. house fried rice). It was very tasty and not overly salty....yay!!! Remember kids you can add salt, but you can't take it out ;-) That's why God made soy sauce packets. My 1st bite transported me back to an old favorite spot back East that my family frequented when I was a kid......ahhhhh memories :) 2nd on the docket was chicken with broccoli (+ onion and carrot) and it too was delish and 'so fresh and so clean, clean' ^-^. Riddle me this why no duck sauce? I wonder what you put on your eggroll? Hmmmm.....must investigate that next. Overall, compared to another local establishment up the street, I am highly impressed and think you should be too. I give Hing Loon a high 5 today!

This is possibly the worst chinese food I've ever eaten - of course, that's just my opinion and those who ate lunch from there with me.

You order, pay at the counter and grab your beverage from the refrigerator. Your meal is packed in styrofoam so you either take out or eat in at one of the few tables inside. Parking is very easy because they are at the end of a strip mall in a big parking lot. Our food was very fresh. Portions were very large. The chicken in our dishes was masterfully moist and very tender. The food is a very good value if you like it. We ordered the yui shan chicken and the garlic chicken combos (only around $1. more to get soup, crab puff, egg roll and an upgrade from white rice to fried rice.) Based on only trying two dishes my conclusion is that they serve Arizona Style American Chinese Food. It is far less complex, less flavorful, and much less spicy than east coast American take out Chinese Food. It's not bad food in anyway so if you are from Arizona it is very good food. We started eating at the restaurant but I got the idea that I could take the food home and improve it for my taste. The food stayed piping hot and it did taste much better with just a spoonful of chili crisp added more flavors and some needed heat. The people working there seemed very nice and the restaurant looked sparkling clean. 3 stars is a positive review and means A-OK on Yelp. Give this place a try if you are good with Arizona Style Take Out Chinese Food.

The atmosphere is relaxed and the service is amazing. Our food came out in record time, but was still hot and tasted of high quality! I recommend coming during their lunch times, I came on a Sunday and they still offered their lunch menu. The lunch menu plates are huge! They come with your entree, soup, chow mein, rice, a crab ragoon, and an egg roll. I ordered the Kung Pao Shrimp and it was delicious. It had a slight kick, bit it wasn't too spicy. The shrimp was cooker perfectly, mot rubbery. My favorite was the egg drop soup, it had tofu in it and it was addictive. I definitely recommend checking George and Sons out!

To be clear, I am a New Yorker and know good fast Chinese food. The ambiance was promising. It looked like I was finally going to find what I've been looking for in Phoenix for years. For whatever reason, Chinese restaurants in Arizona serve egg hockey pucks and cover it with various items and call it egg foo young. I even asked about it before I ordered it. Alas when I got home and saw what I had, I was disappointed. It's faster to make it this way but the egg hockey puck had no taste - zero. They could have at least added oyster sauce, a little soy sauce, maybe nam plah, and perhaps sesame oil. It was tasteless. A complete miss. I also ordered something simple, shrimp spring rolls. They were delicious! I inhaled them and will order them again. I'd go again just for the spring rolls. Maybe they have other dishes that are good and I may not entirely give up but the egg foo young is a no go.
