Amazing value. Great taste. The fried items were crispy and screaming hot so fresh. The protein portion to the entree was an amazing deal. Only complaint is that the amount of rice relative to the entree was a little lacking haha. But amazing value amazing flavor and great staff and service. Can't wait to come back again. I got the general Tao's chicken with the combo so fried rice soup crab wanting and egg roll for 2$ up charge. Such a great deal. Please give me more rice even if it is white with this meal

I ordered it through Uber eats it was so disappointed. The food wasn't packed well so the chicken spilled out. A specifically mention which soup I wanted and they gave me some egg soup that was super thick and un appealing. I also specifically stated that I only wanted the soup and egg roll because I am allergic to all seafood. They put crab cakes in both dishes. So I was really afraid to taste both dishes due to cross contamination. Both dishes were supposed to be medium hot. They absolutely had no taste to them nor did they have any spice over $40 wasted zero out of 10 do not recommend

    Mapo tofu combo

Looking for Asian food on the mainland is a bit hard when you're in the middle of Arizona. But I came across this place on Yelp and thought I'd give it a shot. First green flag, they serve real sriracha! First red flag, we were never given chopsticks. I ordered the Mapo Tofu combo (came with "fried rice", spring roll, soup, and crab rangoons). It was a deal cause the combo only added an extra $1.75. But honestly I didn't feel like it was a win cause the fried rice was rice with soy sauce, the crab rangoons were sweet and not great. The spring roll was the best thing on the plate. The egg drop soup was amazing and the highlight of my meal. The Mapo Tofu had a slight spice, deliciously soft tofu, and was a huge amount. There was no ground pork or any other substances. I was surprised I just got tofu. But at least it tasted good. Would I go here again? The service was suuuuuuper nice. If I was desperate for Chinese food, maybe. But I'm more keen on cooking at home myself.

My first time ordering from Hong Kong kitchen. We ordered the wonton soup, orange chicken, Singapore noodles, cashew chicken, and pork, fried rice. The food was delicious . We also got free donuts and they were so good. My kids pretty much ate them all. The two ladies working there were so nice and welcoming. Great customer service. We will be going back again.

    I love the shrimp!

Shrimp rice rolls: their sauce was excellent and most places make it too sweet for me Turnip cakes: a little too oily but still tasty Salt and pepper pork chops: good cut of meat, lacking the salt and pepper taste Sugar cakes: not too sweet and good texture So happy to have authentic Chinese in Arizona after my move! That said, expectations adjusted, this spot delivers a solid yum cha experience for Arizona. As you pull in, you'll notice it's located in an unassuming strip mall. Inside, the atmosphere is exactly what you'd expect -- controlled chaos, with traditional steam carts rolling through a packed dining room filled with large family tables. The service is hit or miss, and with dim sum you often want your favorites right away, so sometimes you just have to wait for the cart to come around. Tried a variety of dishes. The Cheung Fun has always been a favorite of mine and it was decent. The Shumai, Har Gow, Char Siu Bao, Lo Bak Go, Taro, and of course Dan Tat (egg tarts) were all good. I think I'm officially done ordering Wu Gok though -- that one didn't do much for me and probably won't be on my list next time. Almost forgot, you can't have yum cha without Gai Lan, and as usual it was good -- honestly a dish that's hard to mess up. Overall, the best dim sum I've had so far in Arizona. PS -- thanks Joyce W for the recommendation. Saluti

They even offer a variety of dipping sauces when dining in now. During my latest visit, we ordered roast pork and roast duck rice plates. Both had wonderfully crispy skin and tasted fresh. I love that the duck here is never too gamey or salty like at other locations. I also love the soup! The west lake beef soup was the right level of thickness, with a solid amount of meat and mushrooms. It's perfect with white pepper added from the table. My husband and I have been eating at Asian Cafe Express for years…read more And when I say years, I mean this is one of those rare places that slowly becomes woven into the fabric of your life and memories over time. The family and staff here know us by first name, and every time we walk through the doors, I am reminded a little of that old television show *Cheers* -- where everybody knows your name. Even though we travel all over the country and internationally now, we still somehow make it a point to stop here whenever we are back in the Phoenix area. Not just for the food. But because these people genuinely feel like old friends. What amazes me most is that despite how busy the restaurant always is, someone from the family still manages to come over and greet us whenever we visit. There is something deeply warm and authentic about that kind of hospitality that you simply cannot manufacture through corporate training. And speaking of authentic... This is, in my opinion, some of the most authentic Chinese food left in the Phoenix area. Many of the old gold-standard Chinese restaurants we used to love throughout the Valley have sadly disappeared over the years, while others slowly became watered-down imitations aimed almost entirely toward generic Americanized expectations. Asian Cafe Express somehow managed to preserve what made those older places special. We almost always order from the Chinese menu rather than the more standard tourist-oriented side of the menu, and the difference is absolutely worth it. The salt and pepper pork chop remains one of my favorite dishes here -- beautifully crisp, savory, aromatic, and addictive in all the right ways. The chicken curry is another standout, with a deeply flavorful sauce that has a wonderful spicy richness without becoming overwhelming. Though if you're spice-sensitive, they are happy to tone it down for you. Everything tastes freshly prepared, vibrant, and full of the kind of layered flavor that tells you the kitchen actually knows what it's doing. I also love seeing how much the surrounding area has changed over the years. The restaurant used to feel tucked away in a quieter strip mall area, but now the neighborhood around it has grown substantially, with many more restaurants and businesses nearby. The large grocery store next door especially transformed the area from what it used to be years ago. And yet somehow, Asian Cafe Express itself still feels exactly the same in the ways that matter. There is a reason this place is constantly packed. Between dine-in customers and nonstop takeout orders, the staff always seems to be moving at full speed. But honestly? That is usually the sign of someplace doing things right.

It been quite an absence since visiting Asian Cafe Express…read more There's so many other places to try! Surprisingly as I walked in, staff waved and greeted me. Order at the cashier, grab a number, and food will be served to you. Needless to say, I ordered the 4. Shanghai pork mini soup dumplings which were $10.25 for 6 dumplings. I would've loved less dough, more soup, overall bigger portion size (larger dumplings or more of them). Otherwise, the soup itself was tasty. We also ordered the 14. I'm not usually a spice person, but I was left feeling tingly but not in pain and not numb. Overall I found Heng's Kitchen to be disproportionately pricey given the taste and portion sizes. I'm pretty critical and discerning about my XLB, and this place did not totally satisfy my craving, although I was pleasantly surprised about the chicken.
