The drinks and desserts here are so good! If you want something that's not too sweet, they are perfect options, especially for tea lovers. That hojicha cake roll was absolutely stellar. Their tanuki mascot is so friggin' adorable. The shop is clean and service was very prompt and friendly. WiFi is available, and there's plenty of seating and good air conditioning indoors. You can pay online ahead of time, at the kiosk, or at the counter. Check out the QR code in my photos for more info about their shop. It's very rare to come across hojicha ice cream (or just good hojicha in general) for me back home in the northeast, so when I heard about this shop, I had to come here and try it. Definitely worth swinging by if you're in the area!
I've always wanted to try here and finally I did! I wanted to try their matcha, but it was late afternoon and It was a hot day, so I got to try their ice cream. It was yummy, very matcha-y and less creamy. Also I got to try tofu puddings- it was a real tofu I think! Ice cream wasn't as I expected as I was expecting something more milkier but definitely strong matcha and it was good!
4/4/26: if you enjoy matcha, then you must check out Gozen Kamicha. Matcha is everywhere and after two visits under our belt, everything has been so good. The only item I was not overly pleased with is the mochi balls; they are not as sweet as I like them. We had the same gal both times & she was very polite & willing to answer any questions. In fact, I asked her WTF the logo animal was because we couldn't decide if it was a racoon, chipmunk, or something else. It is a tanuki, a racoon dog. Not only did we get sweet treats, but we also learned what a tanuki is. You can, too, if you check out my pictures. II would suggest, however, that they edit their logo a bit to remove what looks like male testicles. Not very family friendly. LOL! The parking lot is large, but there's also a lot of construction happening in that area.
I've driven by this place a few times now, and always meant to bookmark it, but kept forgetting. Saw my Yelp buddy/Matcha Queen Christine D. came in a week ago, so I bookmarked it. I couldn't remember the name, lol! I pulled up a bit past 7 pm, they close at 8:30 on Sundays. There were 2 employees, Kenny greeted me as I walked in. No one was inside, but the place was clean and cute. I took a while to look over the menu, and saw they had Earl Grey Boba Milk Tea! I was pleasantly surprised since most places don't have that. I love it, and this place has a good one! I got it with a sweetness level of 50% and it was perfect. I don't like super sweet! I originally came because I was craving matcha, so I also ordered the Uji Matcha Soft Serve, and I wanted it in a cup with the mochi balls. I thought it would come in the clear cup, like the menu shows, but it came in a small ice cream cup. =/ I also thought it would come with more than 2 mochi balls, but you really do only get 2 unless you order the Gozen Shiratama Bliss (comes with 7 for $5.89). The soft serve was good, and the mochi was chewy and didn't really have a flavor. I guess I'm just used to flavored mochi! A couple came in after me and ordered from the kiosk (they have 1). My order came out in just a few minutes and off I went. It wasn't a bad experience, but it wasn't the best, either. I'd come back for the Earl Grey for sure. Wish they offered different sizes, but they only have one size. You do have the option of choosing hot or cold for the drinks. Prices are average, and there's no problem parking outside. It looks pretty sketchy at night, so beware of your surroundings!
Don't be alarmed with the store being next to a run down plaza, it's worth the stop! Quiet cafe with available self serve kiosk. I got the deep roasted sesame matcha latte with light sweetness and light ice. Amazing! It's rare to see this combo in matcha stores so this was a no brainer for me. Sweet, savory and earthy with just the right amount of sugar content. I'd get this again with tofu toppings. My husband got the matcha soft serve which was also a 10/10! Plenty of tables. Cool place to hang out with friends or get some work done. We will be back!
This spot can easily be missed because it's located in what looks like a deserted plaza. On the way here, I accidentally drove past it. It's only one of two businesses open in the plaza, and there's construction going on right next to it. There's plenty of parking since it's not a busy area. Inside is fairly small. There was just one small group seated when I got there. The Strawberry Matcha Latte ($6.99) is not on the main menu, but advertised on the counter. My drink was ready within a few minutes. It is a very aesthetic drink with three separated layers - strawberry puree at the bottom, then whole milk, topped with matcha. I loved that the lid had a built-in stopper to prevent spilling, and there's a spot to lock it in when you're not using it. I mixed up the layers with a straw, and that first sip was fantastic! It tasted like a lighter version of a DQ strawberry blizzard which is my favorite. I would absolutely come back for the Strawberry Matcha Latte, and I want to try their matcha soft serve. It just sucks that they don't open until 11am every day because I prefer to drink my caffeine early in the morning.
Gozen is a new matcha cafe that just recently opened up in the Chandler area. Upon arriving into the parking lot, the surrounding area seemed very questionable. This cafe is located next to a closed/boarded up Walmart, and pretty much all other units in this center was closed. Such a strange place for a brand new matcha cafe to open. Once we walked inside, we were hit with freezing cold air. I swear the thermostat had to be set to like 55 degrees. It was so cold so we unfortunately didn't want to stay for too long. We got the premium matcha latte and the strawberry matcha. In my opinion, I liked the strawberry matcha better but only because I felt the strawberry really helped make the drink tastier. I was not a huge fan of the premium matcha latte. I'm definitely not even close to being a pro at making my own matchas at home, but these tasted pretty much exactly like what I can make in my own home. I unfortunately won't be coming back here. Given that the two workers didn't say anything to us since we order on a kiosk, I felt the vibes to be very off and didn't really feel welcomed :(

(Bottled) Brown Rice Green Tea ($4.59) - Pass. You're not missing much even if you're in a rush and badly need caffeine. Bonus points for offering lactose-free and oat milk for just $0.50 extra. We love a place that looks out for the dairy-sensitive crowd. The vibe inside is super chill. It's a small, quiet space that is perfect for catching up with a friend, knocking out a bit of work, or just vibing solo with your soft serve and a lo-fi playlist. It's not a five-star knockout just yet, but it's got all the makings of a neighborhood favorite. I'll be back to work my way through more of the matcha menu.

The Uji Matcha Waffle Combo was good and made fresh. The portion was big so definitely shareable. Lots of drink options so can't wait to come back to try more! Very friendly staff! One of the few businesses open so far in this new shopping plaza, Gozen Kamicha is already a big hit. The cozy tea shop was bustling with people, and the menu offered an impressive range of matcha treats--everything from cakes to lattes. The space is bright, spotless, and has a clean, modern aesthetic with reasonable prices. I ordered the triple-layered matcha latte with coffee, and it was outstanding. The matcha tasted premium--smooth, earthy, and full-bodied--while the coffee added a deep, bold roast flavor that complemented it perfectly. I was pleasantly surprised by how balanced and flavorful it was. A must-try for matcha lovers and coffee fans alike!
Came here during my visit to Chandler. I am glad this spot is open, especially after all day shopping at the outlet. I believe they are a chain from Asia! I got the Gozen premium matcha latte and it was very good. The latte was made perfectly without it being too sweet. The tea was very well done without any dilution. I also got the matcha panna cotta and it was legit. The texture was smooth and creamy. The red bean on top was also very yummy without too much sugar. I highly recommend this spot to anyone, especially good for hot weather in AZ
We stopped by Gozen Kamicha after dinner because I'd been wanting to try their matcha desserts for a while. But honestly, it was kind of hard to find. It's located in an empty strip mall, and when we got there around 7 pm, the whole area was quiet and dark. When we walked in, we realized we were actually the only customers there! It felt a little awkward at first because it was so quiet, but the place itself was clean and cozy. I ordered the regular matcha ice cream, and my husband went with the sugar-free matcha latte. The ice cream had a nice matcha flavor, but it wasn't as creamy as I was hoping for, it felt more icy than smooth. The latte was okay, not sweet, but nothing that really stood out either. They do have a few other dessert items on the menu that looked interesting, so maybe we'll come back to try those sometime. But if we do, I think we'll definitely go during the day. The area just feels kind of creepy at night since everything around it is so empty.
Amazing flavor and taste. Highly recommended!! I finally got to try it out after a long waited and highly anticipated visit. Suffice to say, Gozen Kampuchea passes my highest expectations! The taste and quality is superb and unmatched. It's delicate yet subtle. The complexity is there, with rich boldness and flavors that highlight the original leaf. It reminds me of being back in Hokkaido in Japan. Definitely recommend it. It tasted just like the Matcha back in Japan. Next time I'm trying the Matcha cake roll. Seating is quite ample and there's a small bar section on the side, which is great for studying. It's quite comfortable here as the wooden dust and tables really give it a great ambience for getting work done! Music selection was on-point. Loved it. Service is amazing! Super friendly!!! And lightning fast too. They also have a kiosk for ordering as well. Memory Lane Reminiscence: I remember when there was a Fry's grocery next-door to here. There was also an FYE at one point. This place reminds me of Matcha Maiko. The quality of the matcha is high quality. I got the Hojicha Latte, which is probably the best I've had in Phoenix. It has the roasty and nutty taste. The matcha latte is great as well but not as bitter as I was expecting. They have other matcha lattes on the menu. I might need to try a different type next time for a more bitter/stronger matcha taste. Also got the hojicha roll cake, and oh my it is sooo good! Stopped by this cute Matcha cafe cuz of my wife! (Not my thing but it's good I have to admit. Like fancy wheat grass) We got the unsweetened matcha latte and it was tasty. Enjoyed hanging out in the minimal and cute themed cafe and I particularly enjoyed the Arizona cartoon animals they attached to the building. (Is it a raccoon or bear? Looks like a tanuki Mario) We got an Arizona themed bag as well for purchasing over $15! Def check this place out if you're near Ranch 99 for a place to beat the heat or impress your lady friends. Excellent customer service! My friend and I came here for matcha. I had an iced strawberry matcha and it was excellent. My friend had a hot matcha latte and I had a sip. It was delicious. Cute place. They were out of matcha waffles so I will need to go back! read more

Love this new matcha spot! Service is fast, ambiance is clean, and drinks were spot on. They have interesting combinations of matcha drinks so anyone can find something. There's plenty of parking as well. Hoping to come back and try the soft serve! read more
First time coming here. It was quite busy when we got there. It wasn't too big of a place. They had a few tables. I got the strawberry matcha, I thought it could be a little more sweet. My friend got the tofu matcha. Sounds very interesting but surprisingly pretty good. Also thought it could be a little sweeter. We also tried the soft served matcha on a cone. That was a lot bigger than we thought. It was actually really good ! read more

Decided to give this place a try and so glad we did. Stopped by last night around 8pm and there were three employees working. They kindly greeted us as we walked in and told us to ask questions if we had any. We scrolled through the menu on the kiosk and decided we were going to share a Shiratama sundae and an early gray milk tea with boba. We sat down and a few minutes later they were both ready. The sundae was delicious. We asked for both the brown sugar / matcha ice cream swirl and it came with cereal at the bottom. The cereal was unique in flavor and it went well mixed in with the ice cream swirl. The earl gray milk tea with boba was also really good. The boba was cooked well. The inside was clean and well lit. The plaza is sketchy and the parking lot is not lighted so it was bit scary walking out.. Overall, cant wait to be back! read more
Recently found out about this spot. Decided to try their premium matcha latte with less ice. The drink overall was alright as it was overpowered by the milk. Maybe I ordered the wrong drink and would be better off with their soft serve matcha. From the jump, the vibe walking in was weird. It's a small cafe and when we entered we weren't even greeted, didn't get any help nor told we had to order from the kiosk. Like I said weird vibe. Tried pudding matcha and strawberry matcha and there is still grainy notes. The pudding matcha tasted like milk gone bad and the strawberry matcha wasn't that good. The strawberries overpowered a lil. I think the pudding and matcha isn't a good Combo and the aftertaste was the worst.. Sadly, I don't recommend the matcha or ice cream here. A new competitor has entered the arena! [Cues: Street Fighter Theme] Okay, cut the theatrics and let's get into it. There's a new matcha spot in Arizona, and I'm for it. Their entire menu is dedicated to all things matcha: soft serve, panna cotta, waffles, rolled cakes--you name it. If you're craving matcha, they've got you covered. I'm not 100% certain but I'm pretty sure this was the old Jamba Juice spot. What a step up. The interior is bright and cozy. Come with a small group of four and you should be able to be seated comfortably. There's a self-serve kiosk off to the side and basic green tea sold in plastic Voss-looking bottles if you want something on the go. Items are $4-$32, depending what you get. read more

Had a craving for matcha and found this place on Yelp. Located by a Walmart with a lot under construction, it still had a steady amount of people ordering desserts. Ordering begins on kiosk. The only problem was handed my ice cream, the cashier knocked it off the cone and had to make a replacement. I certainly will return for more of my favorite matcha. It's just as good as the one I got in Japan. read more
This has to be the best matcha spot in the valley! The matcha is a bright vibrant green, with a sweet and earthy taste, the quality is amazing! The owners here definitely understand what quality matcha is, is you want authentic matcha and Japanese flavors, this IS the place to try! The mochi matcha sundae has so many unique flavors that all merged together into one perfect dish, the perfect amount of sweetness, very mild and not overly done! The mochi was also so squishy and perfect, I would definitely come back for more of that! I also love that there was red bean in the dish, I don't see that very often and am so happy to find a place that offers this! The service here was top tier, the man who helped us, I'm assuming was an owner, he was so sweet and kind and answered all of our questions. It was a super busy day at work today and I was running on 3.5 hours of sleep. I was in need of caffeine! I saw that this place had recently opened nearby so I made a quick matcha run during my lunch break! Place is small and located in a pretty dead plaza. I almost missed it thinking it was on the other side. Workers were nice. It was somewhat busy with a few people already seated and two ahead of me ordering. The menu was a bit hard to read for me without my contacts in. The couple ahead was using the kiosk so I just took photos of the menu that was hung up on top to see what they had (sorry, menu photos aren't very clear). Drink descriptions are a bit small. Would be helpful if a menu was printed so we can hold and see. Since there were people behind me, I kinda rushed and just picked something. I ordered the Hokkaido Kinako Matcha Latte. I thought it was okay. The matcha is definitely high quality. It was the kinako powder that I didn't really like too much. It wasn't until after I ordered that I saw the Tofu Pudding Matcha Latte. I think I might have liked that one more! Really wanted to try to matcha ice cream cone or sundae cups but since I was on my lunch break and didn't want that dripping in the car, I had to pass and will try it another time. read more
It's a Taiwanese matcha dessert brand that I used to go for after school. I was excited about their first store outside of Taiwan, but it turned out a little bit disappointed. Their desserts were not too sweet, which was a good sign as an Asian, but the hojicha roll was dry, and the flavor of matcha ice cream tasted a little bit watery, not as strong as I thought. The staff were nice and friendly though. There are plenty of parking spots. read more

I was really excited when this place opened and thought it would finally bring some solid matcha to AZ. I usually prefer a stronger matcha, so my expectations were high. I tried their Gozen Premium Matcha, which is supposed to be their best and strongest. I did get some umami and natural flavor, but it still tasted pretty diluted and I wished it was bolder. I'd give it a 3/5. Also, the matcha is already sweetened, so there's really no need to add sugar unless you like it extra sweet. Since this place focuses on matcha, I expected the flavor to stand out more :(! I also tried the Gozen Shiratama Bite and the texture was nice and chewy, but the flavor was pretty plain (which is expected so no complaints)! The matcha ice cream comes down to preference, but for me, I wish it was creamier with a stronger matcha taste. I also ordered the three-layer matcha latte with espresso, and it reminded me of Nescafé with just a mild matcha flavor. Personally, I wouldn't recommend it as it didn't feel worth it. You can order drinks and desserts through the kiosk machine. The staff are behind the counter if you have any questions. The shop itself is small with very limited seating inside. Parking is easy since there's plenty outside, but the spot is set in an older, quieter complex. read more
Love, love, love another dedicated matcha shop coming to Phoenix. The menu can be overwhelming with all the options but they have a self serve kiosk and table QR code ordering so you can take your time to find exactly what you're craving! I went with the Gozen classic parfait and expected the ice cream to be the star. Unfortunately, this one felt more like layers of pudding and cereal with a bit of ice cream on top. It's about 30% ice cream, which is unusually low for something that is supposed to be an ice cream parfait. IMO, the ratios need to be adjusted. The texture of the ice cream also seemed off - maybe it's intended but definitely pales in comparison to some other popular parfaits I've tried out of state. As a package, the cup is small and gets narrower at the bottom which makes it difficult to dig around and get a balanced bite. A wider cup or reorganized layers could fix these small quirks but as it is - can be improved! read more

This is located in the abandoned part of a strip mall near a DMV /Walmart plaza. The plaza look slike it is being remodeled so hopefully there will be more businesses. The parking lot is rough. The entrance and design is appealing and serving soft serve and matcha drinks is wise. I ordered two drinks. The sesame drink would have been better if the black sesame was crushed or powder vs just placed in the drink. Service was quick and the powdwrs were already made in a picher frim the fridge. If you like matcha this is a great option, just a niche product. I am interested in trying the hot products. read more

I saw a video on a new matcha place and I had to come and try it. The menu had a couple of things to choose from that are mainly matcha but they also have coffee and teas. They also have matcha ice cream. The shop itself is pretty small, there is a good amount of seating inside though. Right when you walk inside they have pictures of the menu on top but the descriptions of the drinks is tiny. Then there's like a big screen where you can look at the menu and place your order. I got a matcha with boba and my boyfriend tried the matcha with black sesame. To be honest, the drinks were overly priced for the taste. I've had matcha from other places that is cheaper and tastes way better. I feel like my drink tasted more like brown sugar and milk, I couldn't really taste the matcha. As for my boyfriend's drink, it was more of a toasted milk flavor with a slight taste of matcha. I feel like as a place that is based on matcha, you would expect something better. Overall I don't think it was worth the price but maybe I just need to go back and try something else. As for customer service, there wasn't much going on. The workers are in the back making drinks and since your order is taken on the screen thing, they don't really talk to you. But I will say the drinks came out quick. read more

I got the premium matcha latte with boba and it was really good! They gave me a generous amount of boba and the flavor of the matcha wasn't too sweet (some places really sweeten it which ruins the taste of matcha)! I also really appreciate the boba texture as it is perfectly cooked! I would come here again if I was craving matcha! The space itself is cute and clean! I was able to get my order relatively quick too! read more

I was excited to try this spot as it's a new Macha place but unfortunately it's not as good as I was expecting. The Macha flavored soft ice cream was the exact opposite of its name! The ice cream was not soft and it wasn't even ice cream consistency.... The ice cream texture felt more like shaved ice and the quantity was also a lot less for something that totals to 8$. The Macha latte was good but it wasn't as smooth as I'd like, it was a little powdered/grainy taste. I think they didn't mix it enough as it's mixed in a big blender in batches so the consistency may not have been there in my batch. read more
