My family and I had pork green chives, chicken cabbage dumplings, house-fried rice and I don't remember what else. Goodness gracious! Everything was so delicious from the first bite to the last. The service was great. They checked up on us every 7-10 mins to make sure we had enough water, chili sauce, ginger and napkins. The vibes of this establishment is very welcoming and comforting. They gave us advice on the mixology of sauces for our food. If you're a family of 5 or more and looking for a place that serves family portions I highly recommend this place! We're definitely coming back on our next family outing.

Continually discovering new places for dumplings and other great Asian bites. This is a second location of the original at Mekong Marketplace in Mesa. It came as a complete surprise that they had a new location in the West Valley...just 2 miles from my ride-or-die! We dined there Saturday for lunch. Service was efficient, food was great and people were waiting for tables when we left. Highly recommend the pork Xiao Long Bao. The other item we ordered were the dumplings on spicy sauce. I didn't love the spicy sauce for these as much as the ones I crave from Uncle Panda/Uncle Bao (the crushed peanuts and spicier sauce does it for me!), but they were still quite good. Lots of flavor and nuance in both items, which, for me, really elevates the experience. I know everyone is all abuzz about the fancy Din Tai Fung in Scottsdale, but I like the local family places more. That said, I haven't been to DTF yet. Please join me in supporting this new location or any family run restaurant. It's a hard business!

I came to Happy Bao and left being a Sad Bao. Staff were very friendly and nice. Vibe inside was clean and chill. Food: I was kinda disappointed on the flavors of the dumplings. The flavors wasn't really there. They all tasted the same, just bland. Only food I like was the pork wonton noodle, its was flavorful. Please add more flavor to your dumplings!! Chili oil wasn't spicy at all, we asked for spicy sauce. Not even a hit of spicy.

Ummmmm yes a must try!!! I tried all the things and can't wait to try more!!! I really enjoyed everything that I got! It was packed when I got there for my pick up making me lowkey happy I was taking it to go! It's a smaller space but clean and the food is good so if you're willing to wait a little bit for a table you'll be fine! The food was fresh hot and I also added the homemade chili sauce sooooo worth it!!

While visiting Phoenix, we met with some local friends for lunch. It was very yummy! Didn't realize they'd just opened this location in the spring. All of the food we had was delicious! They were sold out of chicken and pork soup dumplings, so we settled for seafood. The cucumber salad was my favorite- the garlic was so tasty. I would honestly say it's comparable to Din Tai Fung! Fried rice was delicious too- the flavors were great. Definitely recommend stopping by! The family who runs it is so kind.

I was very excited to find a location for this restaurant in North Phoenix, much closer than the one I go to down in Mesa at the Mekong Plaza. Ordered some house fried rice, which is my favorite. I love their dumplings, but I was not in the mood for them today. Will definitely be back to this establishment at this location on Union Hills. One thing that was a little odd is I sat down and waited longer than I would've expected to place an order. There's a QR code on the table to place your order and I'm not sure if that's the only way they expect you to do it or if they were just being a little slow today.

Im so happy they have a location in north phx now. The food was great and in my opinion, better than din tai fung's! The skin of the xlb is much softer and they have more soup inside them. The service was good, it is a small business. I wish they had a little bit more space inside but overall, everything was great.

Worth the 45 minute drive! I saw a great review on Insta so I was curious to try this place. Super clean and brightly lit when we entered...a very friendly staff welcomed us. Everything we had was fresh and delicious. We opted for the Pork Sheng Jian Baos for an appetizer. They were crispy on the bottom and coated with sesame. Yum! Loved the vegetarian option for the chow fun noodles which were hand made and perfectly flavored. The sautéed bok choy was super fresh and sautéed just enough to be a beautiful green. We will definitely be back. Thank you!

Fantastic service, food and super relaxed atmosphere. $40 was a great deal for all of this. We'll be back!

I love the soup dumplings here, they're always flavorful and satisfying. The beef noodle soup is also excellent, warm, comforting, and perfect for any day. This location is very clean, spacious, and offers plenty of seating, making it a great place to dine in. Service is fast, and the staff is friendly and attentive. Overall, a wonderful dining experience that keeps me coming back.

Absolutely incredible. Every dish we ordered was packed with flavor and tasted incredibly fresh. The soup dumplings were the standout, perfectly juicy with a rich, savory broth inside. The pan-fried soup buns had an amazing crispy sesame-coated bottom while staying soft and juicy on top. The spicy wontons were coated in a flavorful chili oil that had just the right amount of heat, and the beef noodle soup was comforting, rich, and loaded with tender beef that fell apart with every bite. The service was friendly, the food came out hot and fresh, and you can tell everything is made with care. If you're a dumpling lover, this place is a must-visit. We'll definitely be back!

I always enjoy my time at HAPPY BAO, it made me even happier when they opened their second location so I can come more and more often! My favorite is the spicy wontons I 1,000/10 recommend! Staff is always in good moods love them!

I have a *slight* (haha) soup dumpling habit. A trip to Vegas or LA and I will go to Din Tai Fung every day. I was super happy they opened up in the valley... but it is so hard to get a reservation and it is very spendy. You can image how thrilled I was to discover Happy Bao's and their awesome Xiao long bao! They are tender and very, very flavorful. The broth inside is superb! Are they the same? No. But they ARE great in their own way. They have more broth and are slighlty larger than I am used to. That said, they are still one bite and so tasty! Also, less expensive and closer to home! Wins all around! My only regret is that I couldn't finish them at the restaurant as I wanted to try other dishes. Also got the spicy chili wontons. Not too spice and the filling is very flavorful. The pork flavor was almost like sausage flavor, but not sausage... hard to describe. I also ordered the beef chow fun. The beef was tender and the overall flavor of the dish was yummy. The noodles seemed a tad overcooked, but i did really enjoy it. As I was dining alone, I had lots leftover and am looking forward to sharing them with a family member for lunch tomorrow. Service was great. Fast and friendly. Will definitely be back and can't wait to try other dishes!

We didn't wait long before our waitress came over with a big smile. She was really friendly. My hubby ordered a Guinness with that thick, creamy foam on top. They also have quite a few cocktails to choose from. We ordered the pretzel, wings, crispy cod sliders, corned beef sliders, Philly cheesesteak fries, and the Shepherd's Pasty. Everything was really tasty and well balanced, nothing too sweet or too salty. Our favorite was definitely the Pasty. The lamb was cooked perfectly and the crust was flaky and so good. This was our first time here and it was such a nice surprise. Cozy spot, good food, good drinks, and friendly service. We'll definitely come back to try more.

I do want to give a shout out to a few who work together making Black Bear function well. Tiffany, Cindy Ray, the ever enthusiastic Walter, and Sonia. But for the last 15 years, one person who has always shown up and stayed working here is our favorite, Heather. Recently we had a question about which days she works and was told that she was cut to 3 days a week, the reason? She does not have enough reviews. WHAT?? I was more than willing to do a review, I am a Realtor, I get why reviews are important. However, Heather is there working, not randomly calling out on scheduled days, and management can see that her customers love her and request her, what better review is that? It is nice to be recognized and Gary does not even have to order; she knows what he wants (with extra syrup and butter). I always change my food order, but once seated, our drinks are automatically delivered to the table right away, with oranges for my iced tea. As for the food, the bacon is exceptional and no matter what I order, I add bacon. We are usually there for breakfast, but for the occasional dinner, I have discovered the most amazing meatloaf. They actually slice and grill it. But back to Heather... and consider this a review from many people as a great number of my family members go to Black Bear as well; you need to get back on track and appreciate a valuable asset to your team.
