Tried this place for the first time a few days ago -- I ordered chicken katsu ramen and chicken karaage to go. The ramen was tasty -- came with a soft boiled egg, corn, seaweed, cabbage, green onion and decent noodles. The chicken katsu absorbed the broth which was delicious. The broth itself was rich and savory but not too salty. The chicken karaage was basically crispy chicken pieces -- the portion was large but I was very disappointed to find no spicy Mayo for dipping and minimal matcha salt on the chicken. I attempted to call the restaurant but they were already closed unfortunately. Given the good ratings, my expectations were definitely higher. While on the lonely 202 south from the west, which is great because the traffic is minimal, stop off here at Ja Ramen. The food is , quick to arrive & very good. Tried the tonkonosu ramen; creamy with lots of flavor, thinner noodles than I usually get, good portion, little fatty pork but it is "pork belly". Tried "Macha" hot for the 1st time, it's good. Ja Ramen is a vibey little place that's proven to be a great addition to Laveen's growing restaurant scene. They offer yummy eats and a limited drink menu, including cocktails. Since there aren't many places to grab an actual cocktail in Laveen, this makes them a great adult dining option. However, they are family friendly as well, so don't be afraid to bring the littles. Ja has a good selection of appetizers, which are already reasonably priced. However, you can save a few bucks with happy hour pricing until 6 PM (weekdays I believe). I tried their chicken karaage for the first time, which was absolutely delicious. They dust it with matcha powder and serve it with spicy mayo. Yum! I ate this as my entree and it's really two full meals. Add white rice and it could be more like three meals. My daughter and I shared fried gyoza, which were yummy, and she opted for miso ramen with pork belly. The ramen is also easily two meals, unless you're really hungry. The service here is pretty solid. I did notice during this particular visit that it took a long time to get my final bill and check out, but to their credit, it was a busy night. Went with a couple friends since one of them highly recommended this place for ramen. Ordered the miso ramen, takoyaki, and chicken karaage. All of them tasted great and no complaints as well. Friend got the katsu ramen and the presentation on that looked great. Also got the hot green matcha tea, but that was alright though. The service was friendly and quick. A beautiful little place out in Laveen! The food is delicious, I am a big fan of Ramen and Ja Ramen did not disappoint. Ive come here twice now. The Miso Ramen was amazing the first time. The second visit I got a Miso Dumpling Ramen bowl and that was also delicious!! One small downside is the service. They are very friendly but seem short staffed and the food does take a little longer than normal to prepare. Deeeeeeelicious! Went today with my boyfriend and we loved it! We got the squid salad as an app, and the curry ramen and tonkatsu ramen! Both were delicious, perfect egg! It was busy when we went and service was helpful and nice! The restaurant is so cute!! Perfect for a bowl of ramen before Christmas. Prices were great! I think this may be our new fav ramen joint. Shockingly found an amazing Ramen shop in Laveen. We were seated right away and the staff greeted us all. They were all so kind and helpful. I saw lots of great reviews for Ja Ramen so on one of my last nights in Arizona, we decided to try them out. I've been 3rd degree burned before by Asian restaurants in Arizona so this was a gamble for me. I went with the classic Tonkatsu to test the bar. They also have seafood and chicken ramen. Plus vegetarian and vegan options. Let alone a seperate page for Japanese Curry. What we loved is that they have a "naked ramen" which is just noodles and broth for a reasonable price. Then you can add whatever you wanted. It seemed very popular with the kids around us. We have only one good ramen shop in Colorado, which we frequent. Ja Ramen is a legit co-winner in our books. Savory, packed with ingredients and flavor. The tonkatsu pork was thick, buttery, and delicate. Their chili oil packs a kick. And again the service is amazing. Don't miss out! Let me start off by saying the food was tasty We walked in at 130. The music was loud and not the type of music I want to hear during lunch. One of the songs was Don't You Wish Your Girlfriend was Hot Like Me. WhileI like that type of music, again it's not something I want to hear while I'm eating my lunch.. An employee came to ask us what we would like to drink. I asked if he had Diet Coke and when he looked, he said we're out of Diet Coke. Then we both asked for unsweetened iced tea. BTW - the tea was out of a bottle. I asked for fake sugar. She brought me real sugar when I asked for fake sugar, again, she said she didn't know if they had fake sugar. She went to go check. She came back and said that her manager said all they had was honey.. She then brought us our appetizers, but no plates. I had to ask for plate plates. We got our food, it was hot and it was good. Lastly, she brought the box out so I could pay and she added that they could not accept tips electronically, only by cash. Unfortunately, for her, I did not have any cash. She said that was OK. ONE OF LAVEENS FINEST! This is one of my favorite Laveen restaurants! A small, cute, and aesthetically pleasing designed restaurant with delicious food and drinks. They have really good happy hour deals, so definitely come during the week. I've had good service every time I've been here. We had drinks appetizers and ramen. Disappointed in the fact that they were out of vegetables that were listed in some ramen dishes. And instead of offering the cabbage as a substitute..they charged me extra??!! If you're out of an ingredient, offer a sub...I told them since you don't have bok choy, just add more cabbage. It was not at all busy and service could have been more attentive. For example, if your guests order appetizers, offer small plates for them to eat apps in. You see leftovers in their bowls or on a plate? Offer takeout containers. Also kitchen staff should not be out in the serving area especially if there are already guests seated. The stained pants and shirts are not a good look when you're looking at the menu. read more

We came in and were never told the AC was broken. We were seated right next to the thermostat and literally watched the temperature climb, it was already 84 degrees inside and rising. At the very least, they could have warned us so we could decide whether to stay. We asked to be moved near the portable AC unit, and as the server was finishing cleaning the table, another couple sat down there. She then came over and claimed the manager had seated them, but we saw her tell them to sit there. So not only was there zero communication among staff, but she outright lied. When you enter, you assume it's just a corner hole in the wall of an ordinary restaurant, but upon entering, you feel like it's a five-star restaurant in appearance. I had such a great experience. The vibe of the place is super cool. I absolutely love the art piece, and the flowers!!! I loved the cozy atmosphere. The projector with the music selection added such a nice touch. The food was fantastic! The karaage was perfectly crispy and came in a generous portion (had enough for leftovers the next day ). I order the Shoyu Ramen, the broth was so rich and flavorful, definitely one of the highlights of the meal. On top of the great food, the people here make the experience even better. The chef actually came out to greet us, which felt so warm and genuine, and the owner was incredibly welcoming. Tried Ja Ramen & Curry out in Laveen today with some friends and I must say it was so, so delicious! I'm happy there's a good ramen place kind of nearby. I mean, we didn't have to drive all the way to the east side and it's pretty decent. Not the best I've had in Phoenix but it ranks up there. It's not a very big place. It's cute and cozy. They just opened about a week ago, so be patient, they were busy. Rightfully so. The food is good. We started off with the fried gyoza. You get 5, I just at some before taking a pic. It was good and for being fried it wasn't greasy. We got the chicken karaage with matcha salt which was very delicious. It was light and crispy and also not greasy and the spicy mayo dipping sauce also yummy. Then we tried the special curry fries. I asked our waiter if I could try the curry first and he was kind enough to bring me a little sample of the curry sauce. It was delicious so we got the curry fries and it was amazing! It was like Asian poutine. So good! I ordered the tonkotsu ramen with noodles on the side because I don't finish and I don't want the noodles to absorb the broth when I bring it home. Very delicious ramen. I mean, I was not disappointed. The only downside was the ramen egg. It was overcooked and wasn't marinated enough. Other than that it was a very delicious and flavorful bowl of soup. My other friends got the miso ramen and I sampled their broth and that was also pretty good and that's saying a lot because I'm not a fan of miso. Our waiter was really nice and helpful. I will definitely go again but I think next time I'm going to try a curry dish. Give them a try. I highly recommend and this is coming from an Asian. Half but still counts. read more

This used to be AMAZING. This time it made me sick. This last time we went the entire restaurant smelled HORRIBLE like sewer. Perhaps they aren't cleaning their grease out properly... also the service was nice but ridiculously slow. Our food took forever and my husband's ramen came out 15 minutes before mine. Which meant we didn't eat together. HOW?? 15 minutes??? He said his ramen tasted different than usual and my katsu curry was super watery and had no flavor. Ja Ramen is located on Baseline rd in a strip mall. At first glance, they looked closed, but it is just the dark tint on the windows. I came in on a Monday at about 630pm, and I ordered the Miso Ramen. I was told they are out of pork belly, so I added shrimp instead. The ramen arrived 10 minutes later. The broth had a thickness to it that I liked. I also requested it to be spicy, which it was. My only complaint would be that the shrimp still had the crusty tail attached, so I had to pull it out of the soup and bite it off. Ja Ramen had a 4.6 rating on Google Maps, and I can see why. They never came to check up on us we had to constantly wave them down to get refills/napkins which was awkward but it got to the point where that was the last option in order to get a refill. Once we were finally ready to pay, the server says to us to "hit no tip on the machine, because we only take cash tips," even though the card reader clearly had tip options available. Aright flavors, but the long wait time, no server attention and weird tipping situation definitely took away from the experience. I ordered an iced-t and she started making me a hot tea. The food is exceptional some of the best curry Ramen I've ever had in my life. But the bartender never asked me how I was doing. I had to ask the other server for a refill on my tea and then I had to ask to for the check 5 minutes after she cleared my bowl. Might give it another shot and not sit at the bar, but I'm hoping that the bartender gets a personality, is attentive and puts the customer first over her side work. Well this was a delightful surprise. We came here for two bowls of ramen and some takoyaki. Everything was actually really fantastic- the chashu in the ramen was *PERFECT*, it melted right in my mouth and was wonderfully fatty and porky. The mouthfeel of the noodles was spot-on, slightly chewy and springy. I asked if they had any shichimi togarishii, and they didn't, but the nice gentleman brought me a chili paste which more than made up for it. I don't know what it was, but it had just a perfect little burn and a really unique flavor that I've never encountered before. I asked him what it was and he said that it was just a ground chili that they make in the back. It was great, but I wish I knew what it was called so that I could ask for it next time. The decor is hip and funky, with a distinct pop vibe to it. They don't have a ton of seating, so it might get a little crowded at night, but it's definitely a cool little place to come hang out for some great ramen or curry and a drink. Come here. As Laveen continues to develop, the greatest and coolest thing is seeing new restaurants come into town. The atmosphere here is totally like a an Asian vibe, from Anime on the screens, to decor.
