Our our server, Vivian was outstanding. She explained the different menu items to different options, engaged in what we were looking for what we liked. She made the experience perfect. The food was fresh seasoned very well and had very crisp taste

Wonderful spot downtown for a pre or post event meal! Literally steps away from the arena as well as the convention center. Service is friendly and was so accommodating to our larger group. All the food came out delicious and we loved our drink recommendations!

The garlic soy wings were so crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. All the fishes were so fresh. You have to try the pork belly app it is so tender. The Yuzu yellowtail had the perfect amount of yuzu. Our server was so attentive and friendly. There is a ton of seating inside.

I'm mad at myself. I took pictures of everything BUT the food. It couldn't have been that good. Oh, But it was that good!! I love sushi but I brought my friend to take her sushi virginity!! lol it was her first time and I wanted to go easy lol. We had a dragon roll, crispy rice with avocado and pineapple sake. I could enjoy that sake all day. The crispy rice...perfection. I like mine with spicy tuna but I was dealing with a virgin so she said avocado. Again it was delicious. And the dragon roll, nothing epic but still delicious. I want to go back to sample other items on the menu. I promise to take pics of my food next time.

Obon sits right in the heart of downtown Phoenix and fully embraces that prime location. The space is large, beautifully designed, and immaculately curated, with a standout rectangular bar that opens to both indoor and outdoor seating--perfect for the steady foot traffic and energy around it. It's lively and a bit loud, especially in the evening, but that fits the vibe. Service was warm, attentive and efficient, and the presentation is strong. The food is flavorful and well-executed, though portion balance is something to keep in mind. A roll I ordered was heavily rice-forward with minimal filling--still tasty thanks to sauces, but at a $23 price point, this is something worth noting. Overall, OBON delivers a great downtown experience--just go in knowing you're paying as much (or more) for the atmosphere and location than for the food.

Great food and great drinks tonight!!! Service less than stellar, however! That was not the case last time I visited. Got food but no napkins or dishes. Had to ask for those and wait a long while. Ran out of water and had to ask and wait for more. Drinks came out way later than food. Waited forever to pay our check. Luckily someone saw my credit card on the table. Also, it felt super warm in there. Not comfortable on a super hot summer day

Ramen was delicious, Nigiri and Sashimi Salmon and Yellowtail were good and medium size portions. Basic rolls were just ok. Signature spicy yellowtail roll was very good. Don't know if it was an off night but service was extremely slow. Drinks took a very long time to come out and one at a time....weird. Waitress didn't know the menu when we had questions. Overpriced especially for level of service.

I am so obsessed with Obon! My favorite thing is the Hamachi sashimi. The flavors are unreal and it's always so fresh. I also love the spicy tuna crispy rice! And they really have a fantastic brunch menu as well. I love all of the Benedict's and the French toast, which is milk bread is super good. The service is always very friendly and has a nice ambience downtown.

Who would have known the best wasabi I would try in my life would be in Arizona?!? Fish was SO fresh. Service was amazing. Manager came and chatted with us. Great food. Great service. Such a hidden gem. If I can be happy in 111 degree weather rather with an amazing sushi place. Life is good! Gio and Luis were great sushi chefs! Dancing to Bad Bunny just made the place even more fun!

Shout out to Obon for- well everything. My man and I went there to watch the Mcgreggor fight and the World Cup game. We were happy to not only enjoy watching both but still be able to hear each other even with the sound on. We were impressed by everything between the food to the service. We got a special ramen made for National Ramen Day with smoked brisket ( to die for) a pork belly salad as well as their pork gyoza. Big thank you to Po and PJ for taking care of us.

Definitely my new favorite sushi spot! I loved the botanical-Industrial vibe. Our server Lorina was amazing! She provided great recommendations. The Neo-Genesis Roll remains the absolute GOAT of their signature menu. It has a great balance, The Heat, Freshness and That Chile Sesame Ponzu sauce equals deliciousness! They have a great selection of cocktails for happy hour as well as special food items. Next I want to try their bird buns - Steamed buns with spicy fried chicken.

Had my birthday lunch here and it was perfect. We were seated in this little section with the cushy seats and it fit our large group perfect. The hanging lanterns were so pretty and made the restaurant feel warm! The staff was nice and even gifted me a free dessert and sparkler for my birthday! Ordered tons of food but I only managed to take a photo of the sushi roll which was yummy and fresh haha. Great experience we love Obon! I made the reservation online but when I needed to make a change I just called in and they were able to accommodate. Recommend this place if you like sushi and ramen, go for your birthday! (:

Definitely a vibe for anime lovers! Food-wise, we started with the gyoza and they were delicious. Perfectly cooked and even better dipped in the ponzu sauce! We also tried the sushi flight, which was a great way to sample a few different flavors. Overall, I really enjoyed it, although the eel was probably my least favorite of the flight just personal preference. The crispy tuna rice was easily the star of the meal! Crispy, flavorful, and the textures worked so well together. I would 100% order that again. The ramen, however, was just okay for me. It wasn't bad or inedible, but the broth was lacking that rich, deep flavor I look for in a good bowl of ramen. A little more depth and seasoning would really take it to the next level. The service was honestly one of the highlights. Our waiter was super friendly, cool, and attentive without hovering, which I always appreciate. Overall, there were definitely more hits than misses. The great service, fun atmosphere, and crispy tuna rice are enough for me to give Full Moon Izakaya another try. Next time, I'll be exploring more of the menu!

Upon entering, we were free to seat ourselves and chose a booth by the wall. It was not busy at all and the service was quick and friendly. We started off with a large sake bomb paired with a Kirin Light ($15). We then ordered two Tonkotsu Ramens, one medium spice and one hot spice ($15.99 each). Honestly, the hot spice level did not taste spicy at all, so I would recommend going extra hot if you like spice. They also provide chili powder on the table if you want to add more spice yourself. The ramen broth itself could have used a tad more flavor. I lightly added some soy sauce to the broth which is something I often do to add a little kick. I loved all of the toppings included, from the green onions to the kikurage (wood ear mushroom). My favorite part was the pork chashu, which was really tender and delicious. I also appreciated that the ramen came with a full soft boiled egg rather than half an egg, and the egg was perfectly runny. Before leaving, we ordered their tea special that was buy one get one. We got a matcha milk tea and a cafe latte which I forgot to take a photo of. I felt like the cafe latte could have used a little more sweetness to balance it. Also, I found it neat that Nishikawa offers a rewards program, not something I see often at ramen shops. My true rating would be 4.5 due to some of the criticisms I mentioned above, but overall I still had a good experience. Thank you for serving us. Visited 5/2/26

Most of the lower set tables were taken so the rez came in handy. Ample bar seating available however. Greeted right away by server and offered drink menus. Both the drinks were phenomenal. I originally wanted the Asahi but they were out of it so they gave me a Japanese Lager from Los Angeles (?), blanking on the name. The Caipirinia was the other drink which was made authentically as well. No complaints on the bartender. Food was 3 Bao Buns and a Chow Mein entree with grilled chicken added on top. This was the perfect amount of food for 2 people. The Bao Buns were extremely soft and light on the breading. If you get them from Din Tai Fung they tend to be dough heavy. These were NOT like that. Chicken and Eggplant buns were tasty and had a light kick to them. Noodles were probably the weakest items, I prefer the rice/flat noodles, but these were normal chow mein noodles. But I had to split the dish with my dining companion who enjoyed the noodles quite a bit. I'd go with Udon or Flat Noodles next time and ask them to add chili flakes. No room for dessert but it sounded delicious, something with bananas. Mhmmm!

We started with cold sake and a couple of cocktails. Super cute and yummy drinks, creative and complimented the overall theme. The Asahi beer was huge and came with an ice cold glass, perfect! We got the orange chicken and drunken noodles with added chicken breast. The food was fresh and tasty. I liked that the orange chicken came with rice, and was not overly breaded. The drunken noodles were pretty salty but overall good. These two entrees were enough for two people to take a little bit of leftovers home. An update from 7 months ago--…read more I've been to this Mensho location a few times now, it's actually very close to my house, I could walk there. Maybe when it's not summer I will :) I had previously mentioned I've been to Mensho Ramen in Japan twice and this location seems to be very close to quality and flavors. I've tried different appetizers on each visit here and I always get the Garlic Knock Out ramen bowl because I love garlic, but next time I need to branch out and try the duck matcha bowl, a friend of mine swears by it. It sounds like an odd flavor combo, but I hear it just works. Coming here is pricey, so this isn't my everyday ramen shop, but once in a while I enjoy it. Other reviewers mention not liking the noodle texture, the soup broth thickness, or overall flavors. Some have even questioned its Japanese authenticity. That's most funny to me, given it's very close to the ramen I had at Mensho in actual Japan. So I don't think it's Mensho who is unfamiliar with Japanese cuisine... I don't love all the apps I've had, for instance I would skip the Takoyaki or corn ribs, or $8 edamame. Next time I'd like to try the Aji fry, many people have said that's good. So, it's likely coming down to personal preference. Service has been solid so far. Servers are friendly and food comes out fairly quickly. Anyhoo, I'd still recommend this spot, and bring friends or family. We recently brought a friend who is vegan and she was happy to see vegan based broths and items on the menu. I think the price point makes it hard for some people to enjoy this place, as it costs about double compared to other bowls of ramen in the valley. But I appreciate that they make their noodles in house and the dining space is very authentic to a ramen shop in Japan (small and nice wood decor). It does remind me of being in Tokyo, which I miss dearly. Mensho here is more expensive than Tokyo. Food in the US costs way more in general. I think most folks would be surprised to learn that. But it's true, Japan has the most amazing food scene and they execute everything perfectly yet it's cheaper in many instances. I was blown away by how affordable food was in Japan. IMO that says more about the state of affairs in the US, and less about this specific restaurant. Some reviews have noted poor quality and management, I haven't noticed that yet, and I hope it doesn't happen. So far, I've liked it enough to keep going back every now and again :)

They have a good happy hour menu, and my friends ordered off there, but I was craving sushi so I got the nigiri omakase. It came with miso soup, which I enjoyed, definitely hard to go wrong there. The sushi itself was decent, nothing crazy, but definitely better than grocery store quality. The tuna and salmon pieces were a little fishy, maybe not the freshest, but it was also quite late (~10pm) so I wasn't expecting too much. Beautifully presented, and the cuts were quite large which was nice! The food came out pretty fast, and the service was pleasant. The restaurant vibes are pretty dark, and moody. We arrived a little after 5pm and the restaurant was mostly empty. But in the next 20 minutes it filled up and there was open sitting at the bar only. The mood was initially quiet but quickly turned more up beat as the restaurant filled and pop rock music was playing. We asked our waiter a few questions about a few of their rolls and he was very helpful with guidance and recommendations. We ordered Salmon Lemon, Spicy Tuna, Salmon Avocado Maki and California rolls to share for two. This restaurant uses purple rice rather than traditional white rice. This was the first time we have tried a sushi roll made with purple rice and we both loved it. It added a nutty flavor and hearty texture. Purple rice is similar to wild rice and far nutritionally superior to white rice with more antioxidant and fiber. Shortly after we ordered we were served a potsticker dish. I mentioned that we did not order the item and were informed the appetizer was complementary. We thanked the server and tasted the dish. The potstickers were nicely pan fried and had a great crust and flavorful chicken filling. Delicious! About five minutes later our rolls were delivered. All were fresh tasting and delicious. Our favorite was the Salmon Lemon roll. We loved the pop the lemon added. Honorable mentions to the Spicy Tuna roll, very well done, excellent balance of heat and flavors. We truly enjoyed our dining experience and look forward to returning. Highly recommended for a quality sushi experience!
