I've been a big fan of the original J Dolan's in Chinatown for many years. The classy and cozy bar has great pizza and fun drinks, perfect for a stop in before or after a show across the street. It was great to hear a few years ago, they'd be opening a second location at the new mall across from Kahala. It was on a recent night out I tried this place with a friend and really enjoyed it. They have plenty of dedicated parking right outside. The interior has high ceilings and lots of fun kitsch mostly related to beer and Ireland. They have a big bar with stools, mostly tables around the rest of the area, and a nice umbrella table outside. The host and server were both welcoming and friendly, always attentive to get what we needed. We ordered a make your own pizza with peppers, olives, and pepperoni, a fun combination. Pizzas are the same quality as in Chinatown, great for enjoying fresh and hot. They have a nice selection of beers, wines, and hard drinks from the bar. It's a cozy and fun spot to have an Irish pub in Kahala!
Stopped by J. Dolan's and had their pepperoni pizza, and it definitely hit the spot. The crust had that perfect balance--crispy on the outside but still chewy inside--and the pepperoni had great flavor with just the right amount of grease that makes a slice so good. The cheese and sauce were well balanced, and the slices were generous. Simple, classic pizza done really well. The place itself is also a great bar and restaurant to hang out in. It has a fun, laid-back vibe that's perfect for grabbing drinks and food with friends. Good energy, good pizza, and an easygoing atmosphere. Definitely a solid spot if you're craving a good slice and a chill place to grab a drink.
Service and food were excellent. Although it's advertised as an Irish pub it's more of a NY pizza joint with Irish pub vibes. We went twice during our weekend stay. Also it's open on Sunday unlike every other restaurant in the area. They do Pizza by the slice. We also had wings and fish n chips.
I was here to watch the start of the NFL season opener, Cowboys vs. Eagles. They have two TVs behind the bar and one located on the opposite side of the bar. They have an open kitchen, so you can see that everything is clean. People ordered tons of take out pizza while we were there. It was my first time here and the food that we got was fantastic. We ordered fries (shoestring) $9, chicken wings $16, calamari $15 and a pizza. We got the half jersey white pie and half molto formaggio $23. The jersey white has shredded mozzarella, chopped garlic and New York style ricotta. The molto formaggio has six cheeses: havarti, brie, gouda, fontina, shredded mozzarella and parmesan. I also got a Coke $4. All the appetizers were good, but the calamari was my fave. The batter was crispy. The calamari was soft and tender, not hard to chew like some other places. I couldn't decide which side of the pizza I liked more. I liked the jersey white, because the ricotta was really pronounced. I liked the molto formaggio, because the brie stood out. Those two are my favorite cheeses. I guess I'll just have to keep ordering the same half and half when I'm here.
I have been a fan since the days of JJ Dolans... despite shortening the name to J Dolans, they didnt shorten the quality of the staffs professionalism or the food quality . Admittedly, I do frequent the DT HNL location more, due to it being close to work, but the Kahala location is bigger, so if you have a group you can easily get away having Dolans play host to your gathering. The specialty pizzas always seem to be an incredible combination of flavors that compliment each other so well that it is quite simple to be mad at yourself for only being able to eat one at a time. Residing off island, Dolans is a regularly scheduled stop before departing the island even if I am here just for a day
One of our go to pizza places. We love the food and atmosphere at this J Dolan location. It is not too busy and we normally do not have to wait. There were only two of us so we are glad that they have frings (fries and onion rings) combo. We normally go with the shrimp scampi and giacomo pizza. I love their wings and great with a drink. The food can out quickly and the quality was great. Our waitress was a funny lady and very friendly. We will probably go back in a month or so.
I enjoyed a casual dinner at the Kahala J. Dolans. So much free parking as compared to the downtown location. Got seated quickly. Not a big pizza eater but enjoyed the Caprese salad that was wonderful. Some people ordered the pepperoni pizza. I had to try at least one slice so I ordered a cheese pizza slice. Everything was made well, it was a tasty thin crust, so tender. Good ambiance - a dark wood decor, Hollywood signed picture in the bathroom, felt like a real pub. Courteous and quick waitress. She was helpful and we really liked the food here.
I wasn't sure if this was the offspring of the J Dolan's in Chinatown. For some reason I thought the name of the place in Chinatown on Bethel Street was called JJ Dolan's. Oops, there goes my astigmatism again. Need stronger reading glasses. First off, the parking - did not like. Not the restaurant's fault though. I do know that parking lots and spaces in Hawaii are ATROCIOUS with ALL CAPS. SIMPLY HORRIBLE. Small, cramped spaces, limited stalls. Get lucky if someone is leaving, or else circle around and around like a buzzard or vulture. See someone leaving? Hurry! Put on your blinker!! Back up a few feet!! Hope the guy backing up doesn't smash into me! Hope I don't smash the car behind me! I don't dare back up into the stall, unless I want death threats, plus, I am not a backer-kind-of-person. I hate ppl who back up repeatedly while a chain of cars builds up due to incompetent car-handling skills. It's worse at work when you are running late and the person is backing up, pulling out, backing up, pulling out...makes you want to scream - I usually just glare at them, throwing daggers from my eyes. Don't be that person, please. My mission here to educate one horrible backer-upper at a time. Just think, if you dive nose-first into the stall, you saved yourself maybe a few minutes, and over a few years, that will equal thousands of minutes, and hours and weeks and years of your life! Stop backing unless you absolutely have to!!! Do you want to waste your life backing up? SERVICE: Really nice. The place was empty when we got there on a Friday afternoon, a little before lunch but started to semi-fill up when we were done. Our waiter had a super cool moustache and he was nice and friendly and totally efficient! Loved him! FOOD: We got to make a whole pizza half and half. Half veggie and half meat lovers. It wasn't as greasy and tasty as the downtown location, but it was good and piping hot. Lovely dollops of sweet ricotta on my spinach and garlic pizza that was easy on the garlic but still yummy. PRICE: one pizza, one fruit punch with tax, before tip was about $31.00. RETURN FACTOR: if there is parking.
Another great lunch. Thanks to server Valerie for her excellent service. Even while the restaurant was filling up she friendly and attentive. My wife and I shared a Caprese salad , Onion Rings, and Fish and Chips. It ended up being to much food ,so we had fries and onion rings to take home. Enjoy
First visit to the J. Dolan's on Waialae Avenue, in the Kuono Marketplace. A pib that specializes in pizza...they offer slices of their cheese pizza...and that is what I had while watching Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals. Excellent. I believe it was a Brooklyn style pie. Also, requested a basket of both chicken wings and fries. The wings were salty but still good. Fries were shoestring cut - not my fave - but alright. Got one Corona...kept it to one because I am a lightweight and driving. I've been to the Chinatown location...too busy and parking is too much of a hassle, so this is a good alternative. A bit overpriced - except for their pizzas - basket of wings was $16. Lots of mall parking stalls. After an 0-2 start... I am a longtime Oilers fan...left after the 1sr period. The Oilers score and the oil from the wings and fries didn't sit well with me.
My friends and I were going to a concert at Hawaii Theatre and needed to eat dinner first so we decided on pizza because it's yummy and filling! When we walked in, we didn't know what to do so we just stood by the entrance and a server came by and told us it was self seating - oops! We picked a table to fit the 3 of us and the server came by with menus. The atmosphere was dim and slightly loud because they had sports games showing on tvs and the place seemed to be about 60% ish filled and this was 5:15pm on a Tuesday! We ordered and shared the spinach and garlic pizza, salad, and chicken wings. I didn't try the chicken wings since I had a lingering cough from my cold (not suppose to eat fried), but my friends devoured them! The pizza was so so good!!! It was a thin crust, garlicky spinach and had a dollop of ricotta cheese on each slice. The salad was nice to balance everything out, but I love salads! Oh and we had to use to bathroom before we left. There's a very faded sign on the ground that once said "watch your step" with a step up... so watch your step! :)
Do you loathe Chinatown parking? Have real safety issues about the questionable characters wandering around at night? Do you involuntarily cringe thinking about the sweat that will pour down your face from the overabundance of pavement leading to heatwaves rising off the lack of green spaces? Rejoice, you can get your New York style pizza without any of that! J Dolan's opened up late last year in the new shopping center across from Kahala Mall. Do we really need more malls? Sorry, ignore the tangent about the best use of Hawaii's limited land. Like the Chinatown location, J Dolan's offers delicious thin crust pizza. Sure there is salad, wings, and other bar food, but who are we kidding, you don't go to J Dolan's for that. I stopped by with my friend from California after a long hike to replenish our energy. J Dolan's offers patrons the option of half and half pizzas. My friend was partial to the Boardwalk Pie, but I personally take it as a religious offense to go to J Dolan's and not order the Spinach and Garlic. So half boardwalk and half spinach and garlic it was! Our pizza came out relatively quickly and my friend said it was one of the best pizzas she's ever had. I have not been to J Dolan's in a hot minute (read, like right after COVID started, shame, I know) and it was good to know the quality and love they put into the pizza hasn't changed, especially as they expand outside of Chinatown. The pizza was crispy, with solid cheese pulls, spicy sausage, luscious ricotta, and very fresh spinach and garlic. Switching between the two different types kept it interesting and we took just one slice home. AC was on full blast and the restaurant was mostly empty due to us arriving at 1:30 PM, well after the lunch crowd. Staff was kind enough to let us move to the outdoors section where the temperature was just right. Bathrooms were clean and the restaurant, while quite different from the Chinatown one being extra dark, was inviting. It's very nice to know that I don't have to brave Chinatown for some of the best pizza on island. read more
I liked J.J. Dolan's and I still like J. Dolan's! J. Dolan's is located in Ku'ono Marketplace at Kahala. There is a parking lot but I would recommend coming before or after dinner rush because it can be hard to find parking when it is busy since the lot houses all of the restaurants and stores. J. Dolan's has a very sports bar vibe to it with large TV's, loud people, and crowded interior. So if you are looking for a quiet spot, this is not the place. But, don't let that deter you from trying their pizza! My boyfriend and I have been here a few times. I really enjoy that you can customize your own pizza toppings. We usually order the calamari or chicken wings, a pepperoni pizza and a customized pizza. The appetizers are pretty standard. But the pizza is very good. It's is thin, but not floppy, and has the right sauce to cheese to meat ratio. I am giving J. Dolan's a 4 star instead of a 5 because the service is usually very good, but sometimes when it's busy you may not get your water refilled or won't see your server for a while. However, please give J. Dolan's a try if you are a pizza lover! read more
It's a pizza and beer joint let's face it. If you expect anything more than what a pizza joint would offer, you will be disappointed. But here is my take 1. Clean and relatively new 2. Good Service up front when you enter all the way to the bus people 3. Good french fries 4. Good pizza (you can order splits if you want) 5. Stay away from the fish and chips - ok get the chips but leave the fish 6. Good beer selection (and decent wine too; its a pizza joint remember?) 7. CODY visited the Kahala location CODY has been a fan of the downtown location since 2008 CODY sat at the bar, and ordered caprese salad and a beer CODY food was tasty and ample CODY bartenders were friendly and speedy CODY bar area was clean. Quick update review.. You can just order pizza by the slice, pepperoni or cheese to go along with your favorite libation. You also can do half and half pizzas. I love sitting on the large bar top and am impressed with the Bartenders (Joe & Chris). But if we sit in the dining area we always try and get Leo as our server. Leo gives Great service, Very attentive and Such a Personable guy. J Dolans is my new hang out, they do things simple and delicious. Tip of your looking for a quiet romantic place to go... This ain't it. Lol! If you're looking for Great Pizza, Drinks and Good Times you found the right place. read more
Great apps and amazing pizza!! Laid back pub atmosphere. Met my cousin for lunch on a weekday at 1200pm. The parking situation is not the best FYI as there's a lot of good eateries and a supermarket that share the lot. Just be mindful during the lunch rush hour. We ordered the caprese salad, jalapeño poppers and a pizza. I love that you can do half/half pizza so you can try other toppings. We went for the garlic spinach and the giacomo! So good! Lots of seating and very comfortable booths. They also have outdoor seating. Service was very friendly and attentive. read more
Good pizza and beer at reasonable prices? This is the place for you. There are appetizers and salads here but it's the pizza you want. I've only tried the Marguerite Pizza and the Giacomo pizza and both are great. You won't be disappointed. read more
First time trying. Went on a Sunday lunchtime. Take out. Ordered spinach garlic pizza. Cashier added an extra charge on bill. When I asked what it was, she said charge card fee. Note: cashier didn't ask how I was paying. I then said I was paying cash. This situation was very confusing. The pizza was good. You've heard it. I've heard it. You'll hear it again: J (bring back the second J) Dolan's Downtown is much better than Kahala. It's true. It's true. There was definitely big excitement when it was announced J Dolan's was coming to Kuono Marketplace, across from Zippy's and Kahala Mall, and next to Foodland Farms. Excitement became skepticism, and disappointment. Why is that? New ovens? Inexperienced cooks? The one positive about the Kahala location is it's A LOT nicer, cleaner, cooler, and comfortable than the Downtown one. The menu is the same as Downtown. Prices are surprisingly exactly the same. That means Downtown should be cheaper! I was with a group of friends and luckily, (unfortunately?) We tried a lot! Starting with the Basket of Fries. These were REALLY GOOD! Had to order two more baskets! The fries were skinny, very crispy, and very well seasoned with excellent texture--soft and moist inside. The Chicken Wings were always the best at the Downtown location. Here? They were VERY salty. I think it should've been sent back if everyone had not grabbed a piece. They were also fried too long, leaving a hard crust. So sad. The Onion rings were okay, but no accompanying sauce? Thickly battered, fried too long as well. It was quite dry. For the pizzas, it felt like there just wasn't enough heat in the oven to get the consistent brown, and probably the longer cooking made the outer crust more hard and dry while the center was a little limp. I tried the pepperoni, boardwalk pie, deli meat, margherita, and Jersey white. The lack of high heat and prolonged cooking dried out the meat in the pepperoni and deli meat pizzas rather than let its oil and flavor come out, so it was just kind of "meh." The Jersey White pizza was super rich. Just loaded with ricotta cheese. Was there even garlic on it? It was quite heavy. The Margherita and Boardwalk were decent. We all felt the pizzas were quite dry. Like there was no tomato sauce at all. The tomatoes in the margherita and Italian sausage in the Boardwalk added much needed moisture. Overall, it was great to finally hang out with all my friends after what feels like years. The food was lacking and left all of us unsatisfied. We added an additional pizza (Deli Meat) because we were not satisfied with the other pizzas and food. Service was lacking. Friendly, but not attentive at all. Only refilled water once, and had to flag down every other time. Also, the server immediately walks away after hearing only one person order. HI! There's 7 of us. Some of us want other things! Like more water! And if you didn't know by now, the pizzas took a loooong time to arrive. Even though the atmosphere is a lot better than Downtown. The food can't compare (besides the fries!). Hopefully, in time, Kahala will be the same as Downtown. read more
We came in a weekend...the parking lot here is tricky but we were able to find a stall. The place was crowded, they were playing Sunday Night Football but we were about to get a seat really quickly. What can I say about the pizza, thin crust not too much sauce, quality toppings...cooked perfectly. Yup...the beer was nice and cold and well it's a Guinness awesome. read more
Lunch in Kahala, Honolulu, Hawaii... I've wanted to go to this new, second location of J. Dolan for months! I've been to the Downtown location, but the parking was so challenging! Uhg! Located on the corner of Waialae Avenue and Hunakai Street, in the Kuono Marketplace (across from Kahala Mall), J. Dolan is the first business of this strip mall. The free shared parking was much appreciated! Service was efficient and polite. We had a choice of seats. (Early lunch at 11:30am was a good decision - before the crowd arrived.) My friend was offered a refill of soft drink and the leftovers were packed to go without our asking! We shared the Calamari appetizer (lightly breaded, tender, and crisp) and the pepperoni pizza (thin crust, generous amount of gooey cheese, and savory pepperoni). It was such an excellent lunch! Thanks for the beautiful environment, great service, and delicious meal! Note: remember to order the Special pizza of the day! read more
Newish convenient location with a spacious outdoor lanai on the Zippys side, which primarily seats larger groups. Five of us were super hungry. Got an order of very crisp fries, a nice green salad, and fried calamari -- served with cocktail sauce. We knew we wanted a classic pepperoni pizza but weren't sure what else to get as it had been a while since we'd been to the downtown J Dolans. Our great server recommended a half Giacomo and half Jersey White. I honestly don't think I'd have picked either pizza myself but both were terrific! The ricotta on the Jersey White was so smooth and the sausage on the Giacomo was pleasantly spiced and so delicious. Happy to have this spot in the neighborhood! read more
Wait times are really long. Not just for the food. The drinks too. The chicken wings were served in 15 minutes. The first pizza was served 45 minutes later and then 12 minutes for the second one. Soda refills took 10 minutes to be brought to the table. Beer was brought much later. With the server Leo blaming the bar and not him forgetting it...ugh. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Indoor seating was loud. The design wasn't planned with a busy evening in mind. Pizza is their main offering. There should be more pizza ovens in a larger kitchen. Not sure why there was so few people taking and serving orders. I'm assuming that they are working out the kinks in this relatively new location. However, I'm not the first Yelper to experience these wait times. We'll probably give J Dolan's another chance. Maybe a less busy day would be better? Chicken Wings - Good flavor but it was salty like they want you to get thirsty so you order more beer kind of salty. But, no one came by to see if we needed more drinks until we were almost done. Half Giacomo/Half Boardwalk Both really good choices Half Spinach & Garlic/Half Shrimp Scampi Pretty good. Although I may have been done eating by the time we got this pizza. Not too excited by this point. Like everyone else in the neighborhood, I was excited by J Dolans opening up here in Kahala. Pick up might be the best option. read more

Delicious pizza and onion rings!!!! First time to the new location in Kahala. We came at 1:00 for lunch and got seated without a problem. The spinach garlic ricotta pizza is still delicious at this location and the onion rings were cooked and seasoned to perfection. I tried the wings and it was slightly salty. I wish there was a different dressing instead of blue cheese for the wings. Overall, clean new location with ample parking, no need to find any meter parking in Chinatown anymore! read more
Love going here. Staff and bar tenders are super nice. Not a big variety of food but that is perfect for me because I like their pizza and it is consistent and delicious. Full bar and and a friendly place to go to watch a game, talk, eat and just relax. read more

I was eagerly awaiting their opening, pressing my head at their closed doors monitoring their construction progression. When they opened, I was thrilled to see KELLY and JOE, familiar faces to me from Waikiki Brewing. Their food forte here is their pizza. It's more of a thin crust with adequate sauce and toppings allowing a little crust to clutch while placing the pizza into your mouth. I like lots of toppings, little crust edge. It's a full bar. Beers on tap and bottles. Ciders. Full bar. Indoor, patio and bar seating. So grateful to have a nearby, friendly, reliable and quite reasonable pizza-bar to unwind at! read more
This place was on my radar for awhile. About a year ago I was walking pass J.Dolans Bethel St. Location and I remember smelling fresh pizza cooking in their oven . I told my wife one day we have to try their pizza because it smelled good. Finally they opened their second location in the Kuono shopping center right across from Kahala mall. It's in the Ewa end right next door to BBQ chicken and Purve donuts . I ordered 3 pizza for dinner and wow it was amazing. It's almost like New York style very thin crust and basically you can fold the pizza and eat it like that . The sauce is very light and not to heavy and all the ingredients is very fresh . They only sell one size and it's approximately 7-8 slices. The size of the pizza is almost like a medium size like the other guys . Support local when possible keep safe read more
I love, love, love their handcrafted pizza! I always order the spinach & garlic pizza and they never skimp out on the toppings. I also love ricotta cheese so even better. They have a good selection of classic and signature pizzas to choose from, but if you want something simple then you could also build your own. I normally go to the one located in downtown, but parking is sometimes hard to find so I'm glad they opened up another location in Kahala with easier access to parking. Service has also been good every time I went. I'm craving their pizza right now as I write this review...! read more
Yesterday was my first time eating at J Dolan's and it was a nice surprise. My husband has eaten at the downtown location a lot because he used to work down there. We came after soccer practice and there were a lot of people waiting outside. We almost got discouraged and left because we thought the wait was gonna be so long. But when we asked for a table, the host accommodated us right away. Seems like all those people were waiting for take out. The waitress came to our table to service us right away. J Dolan's has a selection of pizza and some appetizers. We got the Giacomo pizza which is the pepperoni, sausage, salami, and black olives pizza. We also got French fries and onion rings as a side. Everything came out pretty quickly. The fries and onion rings came out first. The fries were really good. I'm not so much of an onion ring fan but my husband and daughter really enjoyed them. The pizza came out next and it was very tasty. They do it on more of a thin crust but the toppings were great on it. Everything was good and service was good. I'm just not used to being in a sports bar kind of environment. I have those old ears that thought it was kind of loud in there. read more
We love a new neighborhood pizza place! Today, we got the special of the day, garlic steak and peppers, the scampi shrimp, and a basket of onion rings. The steak was delicious, but as the hubby said, "not enough steak". I liked the shrimp scampi because of the blend of herbs. The standout was the onion rings. They were crispy on the outside and not overcooked. When the onion doesn't pull out of its batter shell it's a big win! Takeout was a good idea for us because it seemed really noisy inside. Luckily, I see there is some outdoor seating, which is always a plus these days! read more

This is the FIRST time we've been to J Dolans in their Kahala Market location. The pizzas are up to their JJ Dolans's standards (original Bethel Street). I unfortunately forgot to take photos of our choices because we were so hungry, but we ordered the Spinach, Garlic and Cheese (to die for), Pepperoni (meh), Molto Formagio (yummy), and the Mushroom & Black Olive pizza. We were fortunate enough to sit outside all by ourselves. A couple of questions: Why are they using paper plates, since they will add to the landfill, and since pizza is what J Dolans is known for, why aren't there recycled pizza takeout containers to take leftovers in? Our family's favorite pizza place. We ordered a pizza with 1/2 Deli Meat and 1/2 Jersey White Pie. Also had their fries and chicken wings which are super crispy on the outside and moist on the inside. Service is always great and they check on us often. The restaurant is always clean and it's a great place to relax, have good food and watch a game. read more

We visited J. Dolans visiting family. Everything we had tasted delicious. We ordered a single cheese pizza for our youngest daughter. It was like a NY style pizza, a good size for our 8 year old. She devoured it all and was stuff, for a picky eater, she loved it. We also ordered a whole pepperoni pie for my nieces and eldest daughter, they finished it all as well. We also ordered a basket of fries which were perfectly fried, it was so good and crispy. Us adults ordered the Jersey White Pie and added Italian sausage with pepperoni and it was soooo good. It wasn't super saucey, it was perfect and of course we ate that all up. Definitely would come back here again. Also, our server was great! read more
My new favorite neighborhood bar. Rotating draft selections, full bar, wine, pizza and wonderful crispy and soft chicken wings. Server KELLY is such a welcoming and happy sight welcoming me in after a hard day at work. Also, bartender JOE always has a bag full of smiles to throw. There is outdoor patio seating and wonderfully air-conditioned indoor seating. Lots of parking. Establishment charges an automatic 3% credit card processing fee to the final bill. Bring cash if you don't want to pay the fee. read more
