Haidilao is open in Arizona! We were so lucky to eat dinner on their first day opening. Despite the crowds of people and packed house, their food was the high quality we experienced when we went to their other locations in Seattle and Beijing. The service was the same high quality - so polite and helpful. The waiting area had drinks and an ice cream machine. When we sat down, they brought my kid a toy and child's plate and cup which was really helpful to help her get settled. The food was excellent. The lamb and beef slices, shrimp paste, and fishballs were fresh. Their veggies, mushrooms, and lotus root were equally fresh. Their tomato soup base is always my favorite at every location and it did not disappoint (tiny bit sweet with deep savory flavor). Their sauce bar really well stocked - in addition to the variety of sauce ingredients, I especially enjoyed the tofu pudding, red and mung beans soups! Given it was their first day opening, we were expecting hiccups but we were happy to experience Haidilao's usual yummy food and great experience. Definitely will be back again and again! read more

So I've been to different Haidilao locations in Texas. This place is not that great compared to the ones I've been to. Broths we tried were great and tasted amazing! Tom Yum broth has always been my favorite. Some differences noted were the cheap quality aprons offered here. No hair tie was offered. When ordering items there were no half orders options. Other locations do this and it would help since it is pricey and my husband and I don't always want the same things. Something else I also noticed is there is no privacy in this location. Couple other locations I have been to had privacy walls between tables which was nice! Felt weird looking to my right and left and someone staring at me! Oh and the server was very soft spoken I could not hear a word she said! And did not default giving both of us water and was slow to refill the waters. At the same time didn't want us to grab the pitcher when we tried to refill so that made no sense lol. And also weird that water was placed in a plastic cup instead of the glass cups at other locations. Overall would visit again but there are somethings I wish they would improve on! read more

I've been to many locations in Texas and California but this new location in Mesa has definitely disappointed us. Many of the items we ordered never showed up and it became uncomfortable to have to keep track of what came and trying to prove we never received certain items. Another well known feature which usually justifies the high price tag is usually all the 'details' in this chain...for example, hair ties, their signature black/red aprons, the fun toys and all the little items in the restroom. None of that was here, we were lucky to get our food. I hope they do better and make this location as great as the others in in others - really sad this first location in Arizona is not aligning with my experiences at the other location. There are a ton of other hot pot places for a fraction of the price so you're not missing much by skipping this place and it's high price tag. read more

Not AYCE! Just a heads-up for anyone expecting all-you-can-eat -- it's not that kind of spot. The service, though, is genuinely amazing. The staff was super attentive, friendly, and made the whole experience feel really smooth. The food itself is delicious, and you can tell they put effort into the flavors and presentation. The products are... okay. Nothing bad, just nothing that really stood out enough to match the price point. And speaking of price -- the priceeeee... yeah, that part was not good. Terrible experience, stay way! Many better alternatives out there, such as Jin Shabu, Kpot, Galbi, or PK Shabu. We tried their 'Meatoclock' but was truly false advertising. You have to pay for the dipping sauce AND the soup base separately...and anything else such as vegetables, or even plain rice. They shouldnt nickel and dime you. The seat was stiff and hurt my back, the decor was gaudy and ugly, and the music was way too loud. The last straw was when the server used the spoon the stir the pot to make sure there was no meat remaining and threatened that they would charge us for any left over meat. No class whatsoever. Service was excellent and she really helped us choose and make selections and even save some money. Saving money is important because it is pretty expensive. But we knew this going in so it was not a shock. Inside is a clean restaurant that sort of has a cafeteria vibe to me with dessert bars and sauce bars. Each table has a burner set to keep your broths warm. The broths are amazing and they will refill it as much as you want. It is the meats and veggies where they make their money and they do not give you a ton. For me, the cost was worth the experience once, but I almost prefer the hot pot places where everything is premade for you and served in a bowl which is much cheaper. read more

We went during their soft opening and got lucky and only had to wait 20 mins. It was just my kids and I so we didn't order much. We ordered the tom yum, tomato, and mushroom broth. They all have very distinct flavors. My favorite being Tom Yum. We ordered two meats, some veggies, and some noodles. Note to newbs like me. The hand pulled noodles need to be cooked sooner rather than later because it gets hard and doesn't stretch if it dries up. The location is pretty but not as nice as the New York location I went to. It smells awful in the parking lot right when you walk out because there's huge dumpsters there. We didn't get gift bags like in New York. There's no toothbrushes here either. They didn't have the chicken nuggets that I was so excited about! For an average person, I'd say it adds up and can be pricey if you order a bunch of stuff. For the meats, I only saw half servings for two cuts so I was stuck with ordering those. I visited the dessert bar which is ice jelly, we got some frozen yogurt, and appetizer sauce bar. It's $4 per person at the sauce bar. We got a membership discount but this was the price for 1 adult, 2 kids. read more

There were four of us and we only needed a small table, yet we waited over 40 minutes, which was completely unreasonable. What made it worse was that when we were finally seated, the table had not been properly cleaned and there were visible red oil stains on the surface. This immediately gave a very bad first impression. After ordering, the hot pot broth arrived first, but the food did not come out until nearly 10 minutes later. During that time, no staff member explained the delay or offered any apology. We were also not told how to adjust the heat level of the electric hot pot, so we had to figure it out ourselves, which felt very unprofessional. Considering the high prices, the food quality did not meet expectations at all. The meat slices looked like they had been pre-cut and sitting for a while, and the color clearly did not look fresh. Overall, the ingredient quality was only slightly better than some all-you-can-eat hot pot places, which is unacceptable for the price being charged. The service was equally disappointing -- slow food delivery, slow responses, and a cold attitude from the staff. Their expressions made it feel as if we had done something wrong just by being there. Despite such a poor experience, I still left around a 10% tip out of courtesy. Overall, this experience deserves no more than two stars, but personally, I can only give one star. I will not be coming back and would not recommend this place. read more

Dined in today for my mom's birthday! We came by around 4:30 expecting a 2-3 hour wait since they had just opened. We were fine with that because our full party wouldn't arrive until 7, but the host let us know they don't take reservations and recommended putting our name on the waitlist instead. To our surprise, there was almost no wait. We got a text that our table was ready about 10 minutes after we left the plaza. When we returned, there was a little back and forth between the host and manager about whether we should be seated right away or come back later. Eventually they sat us, and since we both work in the service industry, we felt bad knowing we'd be holding the table for a while. Huge shoutout to the host, David, for being so accommodating and understanding about our timing. He was professional, kind, and handled everything with patience. Our server, Duy, was also fantastic and gave my mom a sweet birthday celebration. The food was great, the quality solid, and the interior and ambiance were really pretty.
