This place has you walk through the line telling them what you want. There are salads, soup, sandwiches, and now bowls. I like to get the"choose two" which allows you to get a combo of two from sandwiches and soup and salad. No matter what you order, you get bread and a chocolate-dipped strawberry. There are a few self-serve gourmet lemonades along with sodas. I got the combo and chose r Avocado Caesar Salad and Southwest Potato and Green Chile soup. I'm sad to say I didn't enjoy either a whole lot. I poured the Caesar dressing on before tasting it, and didn't like the Caesar dressing. The soup was okay, but I was disappointed and wished I had gotten the lobster bisque, which I love. I will say there is a lot of good food here--i just made the wrong choice for ME today. So disappointed. Been craving Zuppas for awhile. It was not busy. Staff was nice though. We ordered salads that were a pretty good size but swimming with so much dressing. The drink dispenser area was disgusting. There was lots of mold around the ice dispenser. Not a little but a lot. Basically the whole counter area was nasty. There was no tea. Not sure what was going on with that. No butter, no lemon, just a few forks and knives left. We had to wipe down the table and bench prior to sitting. Came here around 4PM after placing a pick up order. Service was so slow. It said it would take 15 minutes for the order to be ready (by 4:09) and we didn't get our food until almost 4:40. So disappointing. Not to mention, my husband was being recorded while waiting for me to finish feeding our daughter after finally getting our order. My butt was to the camera. Heard good things about Zupa, left underwhelmed. First impression, place Is filthy. The tables, the windows, the booths, the floors, the stainless steel, you name it, it's filthy. Guest perception is everything and unfortunately seems as if sanitation is not kept at top of mind here. My wife and I had bowls, they were pretty good. You know, most Zupas I haven't been super impressed with but this one I was. First let me say the place was clean. There was a man who I believe was the manager putting tables away and it all seemed very organized. Second the staff was friendly. The girl who served us at the register was friendly and not only that the man who I believe was the manager was talking to every person coming and leaving. I was so impressed with his friendliness despite the night being late and the staff all being tired with people still coming in. I got a large chipotle glazed salad without chicken. I was disappointed to find that the high-protein vegetarian options are just nonexistent. They don't have a vegetarian option for the protein bowls and everything else is less than 20g for a meal. The salad was mostly fresh and the service was solid. I went at 8pm to get their viral Dubai Chocolate Covered Strawberries. There was quite a line with a few folks getting only chocolate/strawberries vs a full meal. I feel like there should be a separate dessert line so that we don't have to wait in the long line while everyone orders their sandwiches (line took about 10 minutes). When I got up to the front, they finally told me they were out of the Dubai cream (the main ingredient to make Dubai Chocolate Covered strawberries) and they were waiting for an order from Italy... so I opted to just get chocolate covered strawberries without the cream. It tasted good but was not worth the money. I got a small which was about 6-7 strawberries and it was $9. A large would have been $15! read more

Restaurant is absolutely filthy. Most of the tables and the floor have not been cleaned all day apparently. Person running the cash register is wearing gloves and going back back-and-forth between the food and handling cash. Cafe Zupas is one of our old favorites but it's been awhile. They always have fun seasonal recipes and this night was not different. They had a turkey with Brie cheese and cranberry sauce sandwich and also a pumpkin chorizo soup. I always do the "try 2 combo" where you get a full sandwich with a half soup/salad. I went with the Fall specials. The cranberry sauce was pretty good but was a bit more than I would put on if I made the sandwich. It also seemed to be from a canned version versus fresh like we make for thanksgiving. The pumpkin chorizo soup was really good. The pumpkin flavor was subtle with a good Smokey chorizo flavor. Very creamy and perfect to dunk your bread in. For 2 combos and fountain drinks, with a tip, it was under $40. read more

Soooo filthy!! Like seriously nervous to eat my pickup order bc of concerns about getting sick. TBT lol I mean water on the floor from a leaky drink machine, outdated furniture, wall decor peeling off, floor was filthy. And you can tell that the grime around the drink station had BEEN there, old cracker crumbs crusted into corners by cup lids and so on. If it wasn't for meeka's great customer service experience, i wouldn't be coming back to this location. The first server never fails to either not know their job, snap at the next helper in line or they're just out right rude to me as a customer and to their co-workers. As the lead in the line you should somewhat know the menu. If i ask specifics about the menu you should know some of the answers to the questions i ask and not rudely push the menu towards me. I had no desire to ask the blond dudes name or the blonde female who is usually at the front of the line staring the order. Zupas isn't cheap but to have rude service on top of the prices! We've been going here for years but today will be the last time. The cleanliness is awful and it's been that way for a couple of years now. Today the food wasn't good. It seems like they've started cutting corners to raise their revenue. The amount of fruit, berries, meat all of it was like child size. And I'm not a big eater but even for me it felt cheap. We really do love ordering from here. The food is good and the price is reasonable. They just can't seem to ever get the order right. We use their app to order and when it asks for customizations, they ignore them like oyster crackers or butter for the bread. They frequently forget to add in the chocolate covered strawberries. They utilize DoorDash for delivery and on this last order, the driver had to call us to tell us they didn't have chicken noodle soup (we had three cups on our order). Why didn't the store call us? The driver had to then wait for them to cook something else for us which wasn't fair to him. It really seems like they don't put much effort into it. Either way, we'll still be ordering but it's just frustrating. I hope they start to do better. read more

I was so disappointed in my visit tonight. Half the restaurant tables were full of dishes, there were maybe 10 people here and it was not busy. If you look at my past glowing review of Cafe Zupas, it was 5 stars. Today they get a 1. I'm not even blaming the very young staff, this is a management problem. The team that was working tonight was not experienced enough to be there without an experienced supervisor. The counters were dirty, looking around, it has lost its spotless reputation. When you see so many smudges on the glass counter that it looks frosted, it does not I still confidence in the cleanliness of the food prep area. The attention to detail that was, sadly has been lost. The management needs to have a cleaning day and not leave the inexperienced in command. The picture I have attached shows how dirty the cashiers screen is. It has not been wiped down in a while. This used to be one of our favorite places, please step up the pride of cleanliness. If I could give them 0 stars I would. Placed an online order and was told my order would be ready at 7:15, got to the restaurant after 7:20 fully expecting my food to be ready. Their kiosk for pick up orders is broke so you have to go to the register, but don't expect anyone to acknowledge you! They hadn't even started it yet when I got there at 7:20. It took over 15 minutes for someone to acknowledge me and the line of 5 people in front of me. The whole time there were plenty of people in the regular line that had been helped. In total I spent over 40 minutes waiting for my food. Not only that, but they forgot to give me my drink so I had to ask for it. Then when I got home and opened my salad there was absolutely no Caesar dressing and there was maybe 2 very small pieces of chicken. I absolutely will not be back. read more

Multiple people asked about their orders then for a refund. Employees kept the line moving and giving food to in store clients only. No refunds were given. I eventually had to leave as no one would even give me the time of day to discuss how to get a refund or get my food. I will never come back here. I have working in the food industry so I understand there are tough times but the handling of this was so poor. The management was terrible and the employees were terrible. I have been to CZ on Camelback in Phoenix and really enjoyed it. This one is also very cool, with a fun, festive ambience. They have an amazing selection of items. This time I had the Thai steak salad which was very fresh and tasty.My Wisconsin cheddar soup was great with soft bread rolls dipped in it. Their cnocolate mousse dessert is a top five ever for me. Foodmaker staff of Anna, Abbie, Tommy, Nino and Manager Michael were great. It was crowded but I was out of there with my food in less than 15 minutes. read more

First I want to start by saying I love Cafe Zupa however, today was not a good day for delivery. I ordered a BBQ Chicken Salad and Mushroom Bisque soup for delivery on the App and added the Onion Crisps for my soup. When I got my order the onion crips were not there so I called and they refunded them. Then I went to eat my BBQ Chicken Salad and noticed there was no Chicken on the salad. Very disappointing when you are hungry for something and it is done wrong. I would normally give this Cafe Zupa a 5 star rating but today was not a good day. I wished I had noticed the missing chicken before I called so I could have let them know about that too. Stopped for a quick lunch after the quilt show in Mesa. We both had the strawberry salad and either the mushroom bisque or chicken pesto sandwich. To start the salad was delicious. The whole strawberries and grilled chicken paired nicely. The sandwich was excellent with a very creamy texture almost pot pie'ish. The soup was also excellent great mushroom flavor The drinks were also a great combination of fresh flavors. This was my first time here, so the unexpected surprise is a chocolate covered strawberry. However I learned the hard way they charge for any substitutions. I was slightly annoyed that my salad had no cheese. 2nd visit. Salad was good, got no substitutions and cost was only $12 with a drink. Downside is the soups were so watery. Flavor still good but way too watery...bisque should not look like broth. I got to my table and the salad dressing was watery and could not be called dressing. more like flavoured water milk. had soup, was also runny. looks like the ran out of things and were serving sub par food. They were out of the strawberries they normally have. I won't be returning to that location. Manger just shrugged his shoulders and said they were busy.
