I would give this a 3.5! The appetizers were amazing and unique. We tried the lil rippers which had a great snap and flavor. The tuna cones were cool but lacked some flavor. They needed either spice or more sauce. The steak was just ok but the cheese beignets and the fries were amazing. LOVED both our drinks, a transfusion and a frozen cosmo. Beautiful dinner setting; the low lights, the seating arrangements and overall decoration. I do suggest ordering the warm rosemary focaccia, absolutely mouthwatering. Drinks were alright. The Red Bird Half Chicken entree dish was superb. For dessert, we ordered the lemon cake. It was a good blend of sweet and sour, especially with the cream filling between the layers. Unfortunately, our server did not allow us a good experience aside from the food. He left us hanging for 40 minutes after taking our drinks, we eventually had to request a different server for help. Once he reappeared he seemed so inattentive to our requests we had to repeat our orders twice. Overall, the experience a bit underwhelming especially for a birthday dinner. The menu seemed a bit boring which made it difficult to choose what to eat but luckily we landed good dishes. read more

Even with a completely full bar and only being open a month or so, the bar staff was attentive and knowledgeable. I loved everything about this meal. We started with the fried zucchini appetizer which was lightly breaded. Then my friends and the chicken meatballs. I ordered the salmon with verde sauce and it was just fantastic- so much flavor in a dish. One friend had a pasta dish and it was the perfect amount of sauce and pasta. First time visiting. Service was amazing! The restaurant was very nicely designed. VERY loud.. but not as loud as their other restaurant "Sister" (which is ridiculous). The food was good but not great. The steak was amazing, their striped bass was average (the artichokes were not prepared correctly and served with inedible parts still attached), the Caprese Salad needed salt and pepper, the Brussel sprouts needed to be cooked a bit longer and lacked much taste. Good not great... too many restaurants in Dallas to be just good at those prices. Probably a one and done for me. read more

I've dined here multiple times and when I came to wait standby this evening the host shook his head rudely and offered no options for seating other than sitting at the bar where dinner was not being served. My partner and I were willing to wait as long as needed for a table for two but the host refused to let us even wait. I suspect this was due to how we look as we're not the typical straight white customers this restaurant seems to cater to. I went to Godwin's for a birthday lunch with coworkers. It was a very cute, aesthetically pleasing place. First impression was it's a nice fancy spot, had high expectations based on the "look & feel" of the restaurant. We got the zucchini chips for an appetizer, they were good. I got the pork chop, it was juicy and tender - I also got it with a side of macaroni- that wasn't as good. Pretty lack luster. My coworker got a the ambassador filet- he said it was good but not $58 dollars worth. He's had better less expensive. Overall the service and atmosphere were good but our expectations for the quality and deliciousness of the food were not met. First off, I love this decor and vibes here at Goodwins. We didn't have a reservation but were able to get a seat at their first come first serve high top for an app dinner. The drinks are absolutely amazing and we were given some great recommendations for wine which was lovely. We decided to stick with apps for dinner and part of me is sad that we did. First, the focaccia bread was more than amazing, especially with it being toasted which was such a nice touch, I was taken a back when the inside was very cold compared to the outside. Secondly, the beet cured hamachi was great and very refreshing, still not a beet fan but if you are, you'll adore this. Third, the party dip was beyond disappointing for me. I definitely expected it to be a hot dip which wasn't the case but the added cold olive oil on top which was an interesting touch as a whole but missed the mark for me. My top 2 items were the crab dip and the potato pave (not pictured) 10/10. The old bay in the dip is done amazingly but not too overpowering and the beef tallow on the potatoes?? Ahh chef deserves a kiss for those masterpieces. I will surely be back again for dinner and drinks. read more

We visited Goodwin's back bar their speakeasy-style space and while we've been here several times and usually enjoy ourselves, this particular visit left us disappointed. I don't want to blame race however we do feel like race became a factor during our time at Goodwins. Rodney, the bartender, was noticeably rude and dismissive toward us. It wasn't just us who noticed, another guest even checked in to ask if we were okay after watching how we were being treated. What stood out even more was how differently he engaged with non-minority customers ...sharing shots, being noticeably warmer and more attentive. We're observant, and while we don't expect special treatment, we do expect equal and respectful service. This time, that was clearly lacking. It's disheartening, especially since we've had so many good experiences at Goodwin's before. We hope the management takes this kind of feedback seriously, especially when it comes to how all guests are treated. However we've been informed they can be pretty dismissive towards this kind of feedback read more

We have been to Goodwin's a few times now. The service has gone from good to great which just shows they're working out any sort of kinks and getting the right people in place which everyone knows how difficult it can be to hire good people in any industry, let alone the service space. We started off with drinks in the bar area while waiting for our table and then decided since it was a late reservation we should get an appetizer so we went with the meatballs. Not what I was expecting but in a good way. The flavors of the harissa and tzatziki combined well together. Would recommend them. Next we decided to share a blue cheese salad which was great. The summer tomatoes that came with it were excellent and brought it together. My wife had the filet and I had the strip. Both were great but i think the strip might have been the best strip I've had. Cooked to perfection. Flavor amazing. Great seared crust on the fat on the outside. Not a single bite was bad. Wish I had saved room for it so I could've had the entire thing but instead I was able to take it home and have it with some fried eggs for breakfast. Goodwin's is a very nice addition to the Greenville area. The ambiance boasts an elegant yet simplistic design that stands out aesthetically from most of the restaurants in the area. The menu is also simple, which I appreciate, with a good variety of options to choose from. For an appetizer, we chose the cheese beignets, which I must admit was one of my favorite dishes here. For our main course, we had the rigatoni genovase and the Underhill. The rigatoni genovase was flavorful, but unfortunately, the Underhill was a bit underwhelming. the first iteration I received had many very chewy pieces and seemed to lack flavor. I had to send it back, and while the remake was better, it still felt slightly chewy and lacked enough au jus sauce for the portion size of the sandwich. The Underhill came with beef fat fries, which were good but lacked seasoning or significant flavor. For a side dish, we got the classic mash, which had a good consistency but again, lacked flavor. We ended up ordering desert, and I highly recommend not skipping it. the sundae, which included vanilla ice cream and crumbled Biscoff cookies, was one of the most unique desserts i've seen in a new restaurant concept in the area. The service overall was decent but seemed a bit slow and inattentive at times. However, when I had to send back my meal, the managers were very attentive and ensured I was satisfied. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant but hope to see some slight improvements before I return. read more

He is what made the night so perfect!! He is very personable, friendly, honest and fun!! We came for a belated birthday dinner and attempted to get sat early but unfortunately they could not accommodate but rest assured there was plenty of room to grab a drink at the main bar OR the speakeasy style bar (which is where we killed about an hour). The speakeasy is a nice touch of moody ambiance to the main restaurant and bar that has a more classic and open / glamorous feel. It's nice to have a place to drink and kill time while waiting for a table. We tried a handful of drinks including the Pickle Martini, Pepper Martini, Dirty Martini, Siesta, and the Espresso Martini (w/ tequila) - everything was great! When we dined we split a handful of items including the Oysters, Chicken Meatballs, Burger and Pierogies. Again, everything was amazing and we will definitely be coming back! Looking forward to our next visit. One of my favorite new restaurants along Greenville Avenue. It's the spot that used to be a Mexican restaurant and now it's more of continental cuisine. Served in a cool environment. I went with a party of six on a Friday evening, and the service was perfect. The food was spot on and had appetizers and then main course and a dessert. All were very reasonably priced for the quality of the cuisine. I have already recommended this place to some friends who are coming to town. This is a newer joint off of Greenville Ave. it is a little out of place considering the location and the vibe it gives off, but it's still a solid place to have a nice dinner with friends and catch up. I celebrated my birthday there, and the service was good (I wish I told them it was my birthday, but we were squished for time to make it to the night cap reservation). The drinks I tried were tasty and just the right amount of liquor. The food is a little more elevated, and some quirky options, but it's all balanced and offers a good variety for anyone at the party. I'd like to go back and try different things.
