Lettuce Wrap
Renee I.

First timer here! I came for happy hour with a group of friends and they love this place. I ordered the Crunchy LA and the Lettuce Wrap, and both were amazing. I think I've found my go-to sushi order because I'm still in the beginning stages. One thing that was slightly disappointing was finding out (after my entrees came out) they serve fried rice even though it's not listed on the menu. At least I know for next time. The service was just okay, nothing to shout about.

Spicy Edamame

Met friends for lunch. Great service. They have a week day HH prices on food & drink from open till dinner. Enjoyed itchy salmon and salad. Spicy edamame is the best.

Lion King* and Tataki Maki* rolls

Had a nice lunch at Blue Sushi. Nice atmosphere and large patio available. Good lunch and happy hour prices until evening. Still thought expensive for what you get. Service was very good. Excellent miso soup I highly recommend. Love sashimi salmon, but was not a fan of their sashimi truffle salmon - 5 very thin pieces without much flavor. They certainly didn't have the buttery flavor you get from good sashimi salmon. We did enjoy the Taki maki roll and Tuna Tower,(neither were on the happy hour/lunch menu). Very expensive lunch and we left hungry.

Went for Valentine's day lunch, and was immediately seated with our reservation. Our server was so kind and gave me good recommendations as a first timer. Sushi was great quality and fish had an amazing texture. This is my gfs favorite spot so she wanted me to try. Ambiance has a nice ocean feel with the blue. really enjoyed

Gluten free yellowtail (not sure if it was gluten free as my daughter definitely got glutened this evening)
Sapna B.

My daughter has celiac disease so I called ahead of time to see if they could accommodate a gluten allergy, they said yes and I even saw they had a separate gluten free menu so seemed great. While it SEEMS that they take precautions, unfortunately my poor daughter definitely got glutened here and now we're dealing with all the classic gluten symptoms. We ordered GF and non GF items so maybe those got mixed up. The waiter even repeated back our order to tell us what he had flagged with an allergy. Also heard the table next to us with chicken, egg and soy allergies so maybe kitchen was swamped. No excuse for that though, we obviously won't be back and cannot recommend this place

Hot popper and hotel Cali

I went for a girls night pre birthday dinner to the walnut hill location for the first time! Large and spacious space, the food was great we ordered a bunch of rolls, hotel Cali, cow girl, vegan hot popper and regular hot popper. Ended the night with some mochi which is the perfect amount and desert! The service was nice too! Will be back again!

Crispy Brussels Sprouts

Food, service, and ambiance were great! Service was so fast! Food came out within 5-10 minutes. We ordered the Truffle Salmon, Crispy Brussels Sprouts, and Ceviche. The salmon was fresh and tasty. The brussels sprouts were well seasoned. My husband liked the ceviche; I thought it was ok.

I was seriously craving sushi so I went on the hunt for a good spot -- and guess what? I found my all-time favorite sushi place right here in Dallas! I started with the Tuna Tower -- super fresh and flavorful. Then I had the Cherry Bomb (a must-try!) and the Lion King Roll -- all during happy hour on a Saturday! The flavors were amazing and the presentation was on point. I honestly wish I had room for more, but I was so full. The service was great, and the vibe of the place made the experience even better. Definitely coming back for another round soon!

Came in for a quick lunch I always order the Itchy Seabass and today I tried the Yellowtail Serrano both were fantastic! My waiter today was Jeremy and he was amazing. I absolutely loved him! He suggested the Godzilla bomb which is a raw sushi roll. It was delicious! Since he saw that I love everything hot, he also suggested the Serrano Pozo to dip the roll in. So good! If you like hot, try it!

Delicious meal at Blue Sushi. We started our meal with happy hour drinks (yay) and brussels sprouts before we moved on to order sushi. The vegetarian sushi menu is extensive and the fish sushi selection was great too. We were happy with the amount we received for the price and will be returning.

Came in today for happy hour specials which start at 2. Waitstaff were very pleasant and attentive. Got a lot of various items - edamame, mango crab wonton, cherry bomb. My favorite was the maki raw roll I got - lion king. Fresh and tasty!

Lion King Roll Not very exciting roll, not super yummy, and quite pricey. Maybe would've been better fresh than delivery

White Peach Daiquiri
Brittney T.

Love this place! They are my go to for vegan sushi! I unfortunately did not have a reservation upon entering on a Sunday night (happy hour all day Sundays!), but luckily they had available seating at the sushi bar. I was super thankful because the place was pretty busy. My friend and I sat and were attended to quickly. I had the peach daiquiri that I had to send back because it was super sour. The second one was great. I also ordered the brussel sprouts and the spicy kaluna crunch and shiitake to me. The food was delicious as usual! Can't wait to go back!

Thanks to the reservation, we were seated right away and immediately greeted by our server, who was honestly amazing from start to finish. She was friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience feel effortless. We kicked things off with drinks. I started with an espresso martini, and it was really, really good--smooth, balanced, and exactly what I was hoping for. For my second drink, I tried the smoked Old Fashioned from their holiday menu. It was good, but I'll be honest, it was extremely strong. Like, really strong. In general, their drinks definitely pack a punch, so that's something to keep in mind when ordering. For my entrée, I ordered the Mediterranean smoked chicken salad, and wow. It was hands down one of the best salads I've ever had in my life. Everything was perfectly balanced, flavorful, and satisfying, and it didn't feel like a "boring" salad at all. It was so good that I already know I'll be coming back specifically for that dish, though I'm also curious to try more of the menu next time. Overall, this place absolutely lived up to the recommendation. Great service, strong drinks, and standout food. I'll definitely be back.

The layout feels open and comfortable, and the overall vibe is upbeat without being overwhelming. That said, service on arrival could use some attention. There was a noticeable gap at the host stand with several guests waiting and no staff in sight, which set a slightly off first impression. Once seated, though, the experience improved. Ally at the bar stood out right away. Friendly, attentive, and welcoming, she helped turn the visit around and made the experience feel more personal. She did come back to check in later, which was appreciated and helped round out the service. On the food and drink side, they carry Manhattan Project Beer Company's Half-Life, which is a big win and pairs exceptionally well with the French dip. The sandwich itself is flavorful and satisfying. The fries were a bit on the softer side, so if you prefer them crispy, I'd definitely recommend asking for them extra crispy when ordering. Overall, Thirsty Lion has a lot going for it. Great atmosphere, solid menu, and standout staff like Ally. With a little more consistency at the front of house, this place easily moves from good to great.

Highlights for food: The pizza and bread were delicious. 4 for flavor and texture. I would've loved to have the tortufo, which I tried to order, but the waiter told me they were out of truffles. I asked if we could just get everything else in it and he said "no"? We ordered the wild mushroom instead and while I didn't taste the thyme or pesto, it was still really good. Arugula salad: I think it's $14 or close, so I expected a decent size. It wasn't, and it had one piece of fennel. One. Disappointing. Flavor was good, lemony and fresh. Service: Ordered a cocktail when we sat down. It didn't come for a while. We asked about it, kind of had to remind the server, and it finally arrived with our appetizer, mussels, but I wouldn't have paired the cocktail with mussels so kinda meh. The mussels, however, were really good. They'd get a 5. So overall the food was good, and I'd be curious to try some other things, but it's all a part of the experience and that overall was so-so.

We went for dinner on a Friday to enjoy the gorgeous Dallas weather, sitting on the patio. Service was perfect as usual, seldom a problem with service. I had my usual La Carolina straight up while the wife tried something new, some kind of sweet drink with coconut milk and lime. I don't know the name but she loved it. The kid had Topochico ($6 for bottle, ouch!) The kid had the small guacamole and it is a generous portion with very good quality avocado and a slice on top. There is a small side of roasted poblano pepper that is quite spicy but delicious. I "stole" it from the kid and put on my tacos. Perfect. I had my favorite "Old Fashioned" tacos with flour tortillas and loved them. You two to an order for $17 plus red rice and Cole slaw. It's more than enough food. The ground beef is seasoned perfectly and I love it. I wish I knew what spices they put in that beef so I could make it at home. The wife tried the tacos al pastor with adobo chicken and fresh pineapple. She loved it. The chicken was tender and not dried out. The flavor combo was perfect. Overall, really a perfect meal. The noodles were delightfully chewy and the broth had a rich and full flavor without being overly fatty; I finished every drop of the garlicky goodness. The pork chashu was tender and the egg had a jammy orange yolk. The Birria ramen sounded interesting but a bit gimmicky. They also have chicken ramen for those who cannot appreciate the deliciousness that pork offers. The interior was cozy and upscale for a ramen spot and they have an outdoor patio which is nearly as large as the inside. The service was respectable but not noteworthy. Cons: A little pricey but I guess that's par for the course in Preston Hollow. $23 for my bowl of ramen after tax & tip. Moriya Shokuda is still my current favorite ramen spot but JINYA is very solid! 4.5 stars!

Parking wasn't bad either, there are lots and a garage nearby. However, the food itself fell flat for me. We ordered the crispy chicken happy hour special, which comes with a side salad. The chicken was on the dry side. Whenever I order Kaarage, it usually comes with a dipping sauce, but there was none here and that would've really helped out. The dressing on the side salad was way too acidic, making it hard to eat as well. In addition, we ordered the takoyaki as an appetizer. The takoyaki themselves were pretty solid, but the texture of the mayo was off. I'm not sure if they make their mayo in-house, but i noticed it was curdled. For the ramen, we ordered Jinya Tonkotsu Black and Creamy Veggie Ramen. Pricing is standard for DFW ramen restaurants, although *slightly* higher than some others (by like $1). The base ramen comes with a good variety of toppings! However, the ramen was just okay. The noodles are on the skinnier side, which I prefer thicker, chewier noodles. The pork chashu serving was small, and it tasted kind of old and wasn't that tender nor flavorful. The broth was just alright. I prefer soft-boiled, jammy ramen eggs, but the ajitama here was cooked longer than I would've liked. Ironically, I thought the veggie ramen was *much* better. The broth had better flavor, and they use different noodles than the tonkotsu, which were thicker (and exactly what I like!). Lastly, we had the matcha tiramisu for dessert. On a positive note, the matcha flavor was detectable. However, the tiramisu crème wasn't that fluffy, and there were noticeable amounts of undissolved sugar. Both the curdled mayo and tiramisu crème provide enough data points to suggest that whoever in the kitchen is responsible for blending/mixing needs some more training and attention to detail.

I had booked a reservation on Resy and we were seated immediately in a small, intimate booth. Initially, it was not terribly loud, but as the evening progressed and several large parties were seated nearby; the sound of the music was completely drowned out. I think more noise abatement measures could be taken to absorb some of the obtrusive loudness we were getting. For a starter, we ordered the Calamari. It was fried perfectly and was great, but the Thai Sticky sauce was too sweet and the consistency of the sauce was thin. It needed something to make it more viscous, and a secondary sauce, like a marinara or even an aioli would've been nice to balance out the sweetness of the Thai sauce. For an entree, I ordered the Maple- Ginger Salmon. The salmon was cooked perfectly and itself was delicious, but the sauce was too sweet and rich. The fired rice that accompanied my meal was over-the-top salty. It was almost going into "too much" territory. For desert we split the Passion Fruit Ice Cream Pie. This was actually very good and not overly sweet. It was my favorite item from my meal. Overall Renny's truly employs a lot of care and attention to the food, but some of the items crossed a line into "too much" territory. Be it sweetness or saltiness, the kitchen could exercise a bit of restraint to let the flavors of the food shine.
