Menu has changed since the last time I visited Republic, but the service is still excellent. Karen was a great waitress and very patient with us throughout the evening. So disappointed they dropped the fried green tomatoes from the menu. Prices are reasonable, especially for spirits and beer. We started with the chicken fried quail tenders, which had a fantastic dipping sauce with them. For entrées, we had the New York strip chicken fried steak and the steak frites. I wasn't crazy about the chicken fried steak as it was a ton of batter and a very thin, thin piece of steak inside. I don't think I would order it again. The mashed potatoes and green beans and jalapeño gravy were very good though. My friend enjoyed the steak frites. read more

First time here for my friend and I. The outside was so beautiful and right as we walked in, we were greeted right away. Our server provided us with recommendations. We ordered deviled eggs and pork belly lollipop. Our server said to add pork belly on top of the egg and wow was she right, it was so delicious. I'm not typically a fan of pork belly, but the pork belly lollipop was flavorful and cooked to perfection. I ordered the roasted chicken dish which came with mashed potatoes and green beans which were all delicious. I'm not usually a leftovers kind of gal, but I brought home my chicken dish leftovers and ate it for lunch the next day. I will definitely be back here and soon (especially for those deviled eggs). read more

The restaurant was quite large and convivial! Can't speak on the food but the basil Hugo spritz was the best spritz I've ever had and would highly recommend! We went due to our spritz passport and really enjoyed it, might go back to get another! The service was attentive although we were only here for drinks. read more

Came here on a date Monday night and we sat at the bar. The folks working were kind and attentive. They made me a mocktail that wasn't on the menu and it was great. For bites we shared the dips trio and cheese board. Neither were super exciting but were as expected. I wish they had the meat and cheese combined. That's my preferred way to do a charcuterie board. They have a huge selection of spirits. Lots to choose from. I would definitely come back if i was in the neighborhood. read more

Great food, service, and reasonable price for the quality food. Whenever we come to Dallas we stop by here for dinner. We've sat at the bar and be at the table and the service is always great. This time I tried the chicken and mashed potatoes. The chicken was moist and the potatoes, buttery. We got the tater tots for an appetizer, they are very different than the stuff from a bag. They were girthy, soft potatoey goodness with a little kick. I got to try the salmon, delicious and light. It was a good portion size with the Brussels sprouts. For dessert we got the brownie with ice cream. It was crunchy and warm with the ice cream offering moisture and a cool down. On other occasions the parking lot can get full if there's a game but today there were plenty of spots. It's a nice ambiance for a date or happy hour, low lighting. read more

In town for work and Republic was our first dinner spot...which WOW! We were telling all our coworkers all week about it and encouraging everyone to go!!! Our waitress Tia was amazing!!! She was so friendly, helpful and attentive our entire service!! It was not busy when we arrived, but definitely got busy by the end of our meal. The inside was beautifully decorated and it was not loud at all, you could enjoy your food and conversation!! I would love to go back to Republic Texas Tavern to enjoy more items from the menu!! read more

Haven't been to dinner solo in ages and appreciated the staff here making it a great experience. I was promptly seated in a booth, not forced to sit at the bar (which I typically love! But didn't want this night). I checked out the menu before arriving and had my eye on the salmon, but had a few questions which my server Eden answered patiently. Gave in and ditched dry January because little did I know this place also has a stellar whisky selection! I opted for the speciality cocktail - the forbidden sour (Elijah Craig small batch, pomegranate, lemon, simple syrup and bitters) and it did not disappoint. Gave the pimento cheese a try and it was delish though I swear it has jalapeños instead of pimentos. It was spicy! Last but not least, I enjoyed the pan seared salmon dish. It was incredible! Can't wait to go back and try the bourbon bread pudding! read more

A buddy of mine recommended coming here for the chicken fried steak, so the wife and I made it out this past Saturday to grab lunch. We always like grabbing an appetizer or two just to try things out. We love deviled eggs so we gave theirs a try. They were delicious!! We also had the Chili Lime Shrimp and let me tell you, that the shrimp were perfectly cooked and the sauce they had these guys setting on had a nice spice kick to them. I highly recommend them. Both appetizers came with thinly sliced jalapenos, this is Texas so yeah, we put jalapenos on everything. ;-) The ambiance is pretty cool. It feels wide open but yet if you get a booth, the walls are high enough to keep your table private. I will say this, I can see this place getting loud. We were greeted with a smile and immediately sat down. We also had a great waitress that was just super friendly and was very attentive. We will be back and for those drinks that I saw on the cocktail menu. read more

It's not too often my expectations are far exceeded. My experience at Republic Texas Tavern did just that. From the time we entered the casual but appealing interior, were seated by the personable host, tended to by the helpful and friendly waitstaff led by "Bailey G", until the last bite of the bourbon bread pudding... EVERYTHING was perfect! As I was eating the decently priced ($20) and recommended nightly special of pork ravioli, I noted how much it looked (and tasted) like something you'd pay much more for at one of the higher end Italian joints in Dallas. Nothing I expected at a "Tavern". I am not a bread pudding fan at all, but Bailey's description and recommendation made us realize we needed to try it. And she did not lead us wrong! It was truly fantastic! I see some 1-star reviews, many related to the service, some directed at the food. Fortunately we must've been lucky and avoided issues with BOTH! Looking forward to future visits! read more

It looks like a nice, fun spot but the food is mediocre. I should have known by the restaurant being half empty on a Saturday afternoon. The brussels sprouts side and cauliflower is amazing. 10 out of 10. Recommend, we will be eating there again soon.

Not that the food was bad, but if I were to be completely honest, it was just mediocre at best. Lacking flavor was the issue in my opinion. Maybe the cook just forgot was seasoning was when I ordered... 3 stars because the staff was friendly, otherwise it would have been 2 stars. At the price they are charging I had higher expectations. read more

My gosh, this place is so unassuming. Looks like just another restaurant in a strip center but dang, this place hits hard on all the right things. Our server was Tia. She is, by far, the best server I've had in a long time. She listened to our comments and when they were out of the beer my husband had ordered, she knew the right one to bring for him to try. She was careful not to serve over or near the baby even though a high chair at the end of their long tables made it more difficult. When I took the baby to the restroom to wash him up I saw her stop real quickly and pick up food from his high chair. She was very observant without intruding. Everyone loved their food. Two of us ordered the chicken and never stopped raving about how good it was. I had the redfish. I'm not really a fish person but I'm here to say this fish was so fresh and expertly cooked that I wouldn't have guessed it was fish. Loved the rice and burre blanc sauce. My husband had the meatloaf. He really liked the bacon and onion strings in a lightly sweet tomato sauce. They had a happy hour Old Fashion that was only $7 and so delicious; perfectly balanced. We were truly impressed with how good this place was. Very cool atmosphere too; Upscale casual. I wish there was one closer to where we live but it's over an hours drive for us. My daughter made reservations for husband & I to join her for dinner. She recently ate here a few wks ago. We were sat at a nice table in the back. Comfortable seating & ambiance. We ordered drinks & pepper jack tater tots to start. Tots were tasty & we enjoyed our beer choices. My husband was eyeing bacon wrapped meatloaf all wk. His plate was covered with a tasty bbq sauce, meatloaf and 5 large onion rings on top. It was eye catching for sure. Daughter ordered tortellini which had a rich tomato "gravy." At $21 the portion was small, no salad or bread offered. I ordered shrimp dish with a jalapeño honey glaze (appetizer portion) & fries. Sure, the food was good, but not a place I would frequent. Not enough food for the price & no bread or salad with tortellini entree was a miss. read more

Pros: great food, good spot for groups. Something on the menu for everyone. Cons: louder atmosphere (not a problem for us, we like that we don't have to damper our spirits but may be for some) Visited on several different occasions and mostly with larger groups. Republic handles those larger crowds with grace and ease. The highlight on this last visit were the tater tots and meatballs. Seriously, next time I'm just making my meal from the apps because they never disappoint. Arugula salad was clean and fresh but didn't stand out to me quite as much as the meatballs (and I don't even like meatballs). Our group was hanging out late and the servers kept the drinks coming even after we closed out they were more than happy to open another tab- and not just try to shoo us out. Definitely a lively night spot and love it. read more

I learned about the Republic via tiktok, they said the chicken fried steak was the best in Dallas, so I had to try it. Generous size portion chicken fried steak. A ribeye pound thin then a thin crispy chicken fry batter fried to a golden brown. Super tender with a jalapeño cream gravy. Mashed potatoes were flavorful and whipped smooth. We also had the shrimp and grits. Shrimp were large and "meaty" grits were garlicky and butter flavored. Worked very well together. Our waiter was friendly and very helpful on selection to choose from. Great gastropud to come to for dinner or a happy hour. Large outdoor seating area along with able space at the bar. Their whiskey menu is multiple pages long. read more

The great outdoor seating was highly appealing to this native Californian. The food was trendy and creative. The crab cakes were tasty, but small. I think they use a takoyaki pan to size and cook them. They lacked a crispness, but were yummy. The service was was good. Stopped by after work to check this place out. It was very busy in the bar and patio but not so much in the dining area. The service was great and so were the cocktails. The food was just ok. The arancini were very good, the side of mac and cheese was also very nice. The crab cake was pretty bland and the prime ribeye was not good. I find it hard to believe the ribeye was prime. It was cooked well but it was very tough and lacked any marbling. I would say this place is good for the cocktails and patio but I was not impressed with the food. read more

Food was a terrible disappointment The grilled shrimp was so salty that it was sickening to eat and when this was communicated to our server his response was he would let the chef know.....??? Where was the manager and why was the manager not informed immediately and brought to our table to address our concern that we were served something that the whole table had tried and all agreed that it was uneatable. In addition to the disgusting grilled shrimp was the tortellini that several of us ordered which was tough and not very enjoyable to eat. This we did not communicate to the waiter since he was so unconcerned about the grilled shrimp complaint we had. Not one person in our group would return to this restaurant!!! read more

Wow, this was a heavy meal. If you want something light and healthy, you can find more of that almost anywhere else. But if you want some delicious, heavy, comfort food, make this place a regular stop. I ordered the bone in pork chop which came with potatoes and then also got some Brussels sprouts. This must've been a huge pig because this was the largest pork chop I've even encountered. Look at this picture. Not to be deterred, I finished every last scrap of it. Did I regret it? A little bit, yeah. Would I do it again, maybe.... yeah, definitely would do it again. The chop was fantastic, loved the flavor and I also liked the potatoes. The Brussels were fine, but would pick a different vegetable next time as they weren't anything special. Had to roll myself out the door after this meal. We also got the quail tenders as an app and those were solid. More breading than I would've liked and they tasted basically like chicken. No complaints, but nothing really special. read more

My experience here was pretty average. The food was decent, nothing particularly memorable, either good or bad. I ordered the $15 Greens & Grains salad and was disappointed by the portion size. There were very few actual greens, and about a quarter of the salad seemed to be shredded cheese. On the plus side, the staff was friendly and attentive. However, the restroom only having an air dryer with no paper towels felt like a cost-cutting measure and a missed basic amenity. Probably won't be rushing back. read more

While the staff was friendly, that is about all I could say nice. The buffet at 65 is a joke. Served in foil pans, brisket swimming with sauce and sous vide eggs was like rubber. Shrimp with grits is cold and tasteless. The devil eggs made with water eggs straight from the 5-gallon bucket. Scrambled eggs first out in the line, then brought out cold and no salt flavorless. Duncan Hines brownies and some bread pudding. Now I know why they charged in advance. When I spoke to the manager, his response was...."Oh well, we priced to the market." That would have been fine if the food was good or even ok. Beyond disappointing. OH, forgot to mention the stone-cold cold hash-browns. Sorry, no zero stars available read more

Amazing meal and excellent service! This was the best chicken fried steak! The picture I have included is half a serving. My wife and I split the ribeye chicken fried steak. It was served plated separately for us with mash potatoes, green beans, and jalapeño bacon gravy. The jalapeño flavor is subtle. The quality of the meat was noticeable compared to any other chicken fried steak I have eaten. No joke, this starts with a cut of ribeye steak. We tried two of the three desert option; state fair fried pie and bourbon bread pudding. Both were served with vanilla bean ice cream which we asked to be served on the side since we knew we would be taking some home. I highly recommend everything we ordered. The meal was wonderful and the desserts great also. As good as the food was, the service was even better. Jordain, our server, took great care of us and made the experience wonderful. As you can guess, I would highly recommend Republic Texas Tavern! read more

Wonderful twist on southern cuisine and a thoroughly extensive whiskey list featuring some of the best bourbons in the world.

I enjoyed this restaurant on a Saturday for lunch with a bunch of friends and couldn't have been more impressed and pleased by the service and food. We were a group of 8 and our server, Kerensa (God, I hope I got her name right) was absolutely wonderful! She stayed super patient (even when we were in the middle of one of our laughing fits) and she took excellent care of us offering great recommendations for both the food and drinks. Their menu is like nothing I have ever seen with so many delicious offerings that you cant get anywhere else. We started with the dip trio which included a pimento cheese dip that the ladies raved about. I'm not a pimento fan so didn't try it myself, but the look on their faces told me that if you like pimento dip, this is the way to go. We ALL decided to have the candied bacon & eggs and they were amazing! Interesting that you have to purchase them al a carte, but it was nice to just have one or two on the side of your meal which is what we opted for. Most of the ladies ordered cocktails from espresso martinis to the Kent's Honey Bee and everyone was impressed. When Kerensa told me they had a key lime pie martini with graham cracker on the rim I had to make an exception and have a cocktail myself and I'm so glad I did! It wasn't too sweet at all, perfectly flavored and balanced with tart and sweet, and I'm glad I limited myself to one...lol. For lunch I had the BLT sliders and OMG! The spicy mayo was on POINT providing the exact level of spice that I needed. I can't wait to come back and try this place again!! read more
