Finally got to try Meridian at The Village! The restaurant itself has a beautiful, elevated atmosphere and definitely feels like a nice spot for dinner, drinks, or a date night. John was our server and he was wonderful--attentive, friendly, and made the experience enjoyable. We started with their Girl Dinner, which comes with a classic martini, two One-Hitters, and truffle fries. I thought it was a fun concept and a great way to sample a few things, although overall the food and martini were just okay for me. For dinner, I ordered the Lamb Bolognese with lumache, Calabrian chili, ricotta, and fresh basil. I really wanted to love this one, but it was a little too spicy for my personal taste. We also tried the Texas Wagyu Chef's Cut with sauce au poivre, pearl onions, and bone marrow butter. The steak was cooked well, but overall it was just okay for me. Of course, we had to finish with dessert! We tried the s'mores dessert and the honey dessert. Both had beautiful presentations and were enjoyable, but again, neither particularly stood out to me. Overall, Meridian has a gorgeous ambience, creative menu, and great service--John was definitely a highlight of our visit. I dressed up a little too fancy here - I should've been a bit more relaxed. A blazer and jeans is the way. I ate Aleeyas pasta - I picked this bc I had the ingredients at home and wanted to see if it's something I would make calabrian chili and the coconut cream go hard. They go decent enough - the pasta was very filling. I wouldn't make it myself but it was great MF chicken nugz - #1 chicken nuggets, I think it's just the right amount of spice and layered? Please sell this in grocery stores Banana bun - the texture was confusing, I wish the bread-y part was crispier but the caramel and banana ice cream were great. I am speechless and completely shookethhhh. One of the best meals I've had in Dallas, and honestly in the U.S. ( and I've eaten at many Michelin Star restaurants). From the moment we walked into Meridian, we were greeted with such a warm welcome from the hosts and bar team. The service was incredible, Robert and Cindy were especially kind and made the entire experience even more memorable. Every single dish blew us away (and we ordered a lot--over eight items ). I cannot stop thinking about the Pork Kan Kan perfectly cooked, served with crispy potatoes and a fresh, delicious salad. And the desserts... we ordered 3 because we couldn't decide, and they were absolute showstoppers. The Coconut Kalamansi Sorbet with tapioca pieces was next level. Some friends from work were talking about this place so I added it to my list of places to try. We had a fantastic dinner here recently. They have a fair amount of seating in the bar/lounge, main dining room, and the patio. We should have started at the bar/lounge because they have a pretty decent happy hour. However, our corner booth table was comfortable. The menu has a good variety of options. My wife had a glass of rose and I had the creme brûlée old fashioned. The old fashioned came with a sugar rim that you break open with a spoon. Fun and unique for sure. It was on the sweeter side, but I enjoyed it. We tried the MF nugs, the salmon crudo, pommes puree, and the pork ragu caccio e Pepe. Everything had great flavor. The nugs had a similar flavor to Nashville hot chicken and a great dipping sauce. The sauce for the salmon crudo was flavorful. The garlic and pepper and the salmon was tasty. The hand rolled pasta was delicious. We tried the smores dessert and the server came out with a flaming hot piece of wood with tongs to toast the marshmallow. Delicious dessert and great presentation. Our server was awesome. Very informative and knowledgeable. The rest of the wait staff were on top on it with refills of water and clearing things from the table. This restaurant is located in a beautiful plaza but is a little tricky to find at first--the GPS kept directing us to what looked like a luxury apartment building. Don't let that stop you, though. It's absolutely worth the effort once you arrive. The food and drinks here are creative, detailed, and thoughtfully executed. We tried several chef's specials, and every dish felt like a small surprise. Each bite brought something new, and I honestly felt spoiled by the experience. Standouts for me were the mushroom dishes and the broccolini with garlic--simple but perfectly done. The cornbread was excellent on its own, especially with the extra butter, even without the foie gras. The aged beef tasted a little unusual to me, but I really appreciated that the price was adjusted at checkout, which says a lot about the restaurant's integrity. So, first, make sure you make a reservation. When you walk in, you are greeted by the hostess--she's a very nice lady. I have to say, they are very accommodating; my dad has a prosthetic, and they made sure we had a perfect table for him. So many kudos! As we sat down, our waiter Robert introduced himself; he was amazing. Since it was our first time there, he explained every part of the menu and gave some great recommendations. We had a wonderful assortment of food. The bread is so delicious--almost melts in your mouth--and the butter that comes with it is perfect. The beef tartar has a nice texture and flavor; when I first tasted it, it reminded me of salmon, but I knew it wasn't. The cocktail I had is called "Practical Magic." It has lavender infused in it, and it's a gin-based drink. The Sakura pork is so delicious. It has a nice spicy crust--not very spicy, just a little kick. The meat is tender, and there's a nice verju in the middle that pairs great with it. The chicken is very nice and moist, not dry at all. The skin was a bit salty, but that's just my palate. The Wago beef cheek was great; my brother said that it just melted in your mouth, and the broth really brought everything together. The s'mores dessert is delicious. It really brought back camping memories. The only thing is that it's like a mousse, so my brain was a bit confused--other than that, it was delicious. First and foremost beautiful restaurant. I initially went to the bar and ordered a mocktail, specifically, savor the moment because it was the only one that appeared to not be apple juice adjacent. I personally wasn't a fan and ended up sticking with a water for the rest of the night. The service was phenomenal, the hostess upgraded our table and we were able to see the kitchen which was an experience in itself. As for actual food, I ordered the PORK RAGU CACCIO E PEPE. It was nice and not overly creamy. My friend ordered the lamb bolognese. Of the two, I would definitely recommend Lamb Bolognese. The sauce, the noodle choice, cheese, were all just so perfect. As for dessert we had the Vietnamese coffee ice cream. It kinda reminds me of an affogato. It was very delicious. You can taste the cardamom in the cake part but it balances with the caramel sauce and ice cream. We also had the black sesame s'more, I was looking forward to it the whole night and unfortunately it just didn't meet expectations. In all honesty, I may just not have the palette for it. It was bland to me. It was not sweet or spiced. Furthermore more on the service, our server was exceptional breaking down the menu for us and giving us opinions on the items. Meridian 2.0 - an innovative, thoughtful establishment led by Chef Eduardo that you must try. I took a peek into the kitchen, and learned from Chef how the wood-fired hearth (the heart of the restaurant) is central to the restaurant's identity. Most items pass through the hearth at some point in its prep - from slowly marinating in smoke essence at the top rack to charred straight on the fire itself. First the food: - duck breast: 6/5, to die for, juicy, just the perfect amount of smokiness, accompanied with a sweet jam - branzino: 5/5, perfectly charred - blue cornbread: 5/5, incredibly moist, and the foie gras was added in a way that made sense - a nice richness. I also usually am not keen on adding caviar for the sake of caviar, but we did the optional add-on and I highly recommend, adds a nice saltiness - crudo: 5/5; a unique blend of flavors featuring passion fruit - ribeye: 4/5, a light dry aged with a deeply flavorful tomato ragú - chilled smoked oyster: 4/5, refreshing small bite - blue prawn toast: 4/5, though I personally don't gravitate towards deep fried items, the chives and portion of prawn washed away what typically would be oily - winter greens salad: 4/5, citrusy and wintery with bites of hazelnut - sweet potatoes: 4/5, a little too sweet for me (which we were warned ahead of time) but loved the medley of flavors - viet coffee ice cream: 3.75/5, lots of promise but this (along with the other dessert) needs some work, the salted cream was a nice touch but it's quite strong and if you get a big scoop of the cream, it's overwhelming. Not sure how I felt about the cake, got a little soggy on the bottom. I think a crispy texture would've been nice to round the dish out. - kalmansi sorbet: 3/5, I think similar here because there's a lot of soft textures, a crisp texture would've been nice. I liked each component of the dish but not sure if they melded together well for me. Our server, Doug, was phenomenal. He gave honest and great recommendations, not just your typical "everything is delicious!" He accommodated one member of our party who didn't like his initial drink and swapped it out with a persimmon drink that hit the spot. Water cups were promptly refilled, and dishes were timed well. I also appreciated their new interior decor and loved the paper used for the menu (reflective dots that made the menu appear as if it was glittering). Tips: Make sure to make a reservation in advance and request the main dining area, they have overflow in a glass covered patio but the ambiance isn't as nice. Inside and outdoor seating options with a great view of the beautiful surroundings. The food just doesn't quite hit the spot. Don't get me wrong, it's yummy but just not what I was expecting. The pastas are the best but it just feels like they're trying TOO hard if that makes sense. I wasn't that big a fan of the cornbread or the Texas wagyu. The blue cornbread was fun to try but way too sweet (could pass as dessert) and not corny enough. The wagyu, while VERY fairly priced for such a good portion, just wasn't a good cut. I kept having to spit pieces out. And then the s'more's...WOW. In my opinion one is enough for two to share even though it's a small dessert. But it's RICH and they toast the marshmallow in front of you with a really cool little thing and I don't even know what it is lol. The cocktails were ok. After asking for a wine menu he gave us another version of the food menu that looked like a kids menu. After asking for the wine menu again we were told that we were both drunk even though we were completely sober and exchanged less than 2 words. Never been treated with so much disrespect in my life. We were lucky that the menu just updated to spring. We ordered to share, including the Grilled pork can can which needs 4 people to finish. So delicious! Comes with the Parmesan roasted smashed potatoes which are a must to try. We ordered the grilled cabbage additionally, fortunately because the combo of potatoes and cabbage could make a fab meal by themselves! The Meatfight chicken nuggets to start are amazing, crunchy and with quite a kick. As well the lamb that comes grilled and gets wrapped into herbs and lettuce plus spicy dip. One of the worst restaurant experiences we have ever had. My husband made a reservation for 8:30 p.m., and we arrived exactly on time. To our surprise, a couple who had a reservation for 8:00 p.m. arrived after us, around 8:35 p.m., and were seated before us. When we asked for an explanation, the staff informed us that this is the restaurant's policy: guests with earlier reservation times are given priority, regardless of how late they arrive. We were told that this applies even if guests arrive 30 minutes, an hour, or more after their scheduled reservation time. This policy is completely unreasonable and unfair. It penalizes customers who respect their reservation time while rewarding those who do not. What is the point of making a reservation and arriving on time if people who show up significantly late can still be seated ahead of guests who honored their reservation? Punctual customers should not be disadvantaged because of the restaurant's decision to accommodate late arrivals at their expense. A reservation system should provide order and fairness, not create a situation where those who arrive on time are forced to wait while late guests are given priority. The message this policy sends is clear: punctuality is not valued. We left feeling that our time and commitment to honoring our reservation meant nothing. The entire experience was frustrating, disappointing, and a reflection of poor reservation management and customer service. Unless this policy changes, customers should be aware that arriving on time does not guarantee fair treatment, as guests who arrive 30 minutes, an hour, or even longer after their reservation may still be seated before you. read more

I am thrilled to have discovered Meridian, which addresses - in my opinion - a major need in the Dallas dining scene for upscale food served in a chic, upscale kind of way. It's a completely different vibe from the pricey steakhouses and flashy-instagrammable-nightlcub-esque restaurants that saturates the market. If you're looking for a great meal where you can actually hear what your tablemates are saying, this is a great pick. We dined here on New Years Eve and were really happy with the experience start-to-finish. Our group kicked off with a cocktail at the bar area, with friendly bartenders answering our questions, engaging in banter, and serving up superbly crafted cocktails. The six-course tasting menu was really great and showed a range of technical skill. The laminated brioche, golden and flaky on the outside, melted in my mouth with each buttery layer. The pasta in the duck ragu was delicate and fresh. The scallop was absolute perfection in every way, with a crisp sear on the outside and tender on the inside. I would have been delighted if it had been served without any accompaniments, but the onion broth with miso was out of this world. I loved it! And as someone that doesn't love sugary desserts, I really appreciate that the pavlova was flavorful without being overly sweet. The sommelier, Caitlin, guided us through her hand-picked wine tastings on every course. We loved her selections and she was very thoughtful and thorough in her explanations. I also want to share that the hostess was so welcoming and kind. She didn't bat an eye when I requested a signed menu (it's a memento I collect from tasting menus) and spearheaded the effort to take care of my request. One sidenote - I had heard about the departure of some of Meridian's key culinary staff. But as someone who has only been to the restaurant in the new era, I can confidently say that Meridian is one of the best restaurants in Dallas. It for sure lands a spot in my top 3 establishments. The current team has clearly maintained the restaurant's high standards. I eagerly anticipate my next visit to Meridian and wholeheartedly recommend the restaurant to fellow fine dining enthusiasts. Meridian was definitely a stand out among the usual Dallas menu that just seems to get remade at half the restaurants around town. The Caesar salad was thin strips coated with dressing- light, fresh and a great new take on a classic. Our server warned us (and was stated on the menu) that the Brazilian cheese bread would take 20+ minutes to cook but I insisted on ordering anyways and I'm glad we did! The big con for me was the overall volume level in the restaurant. As someone who has difficulty hearing it was super challenging to hear across the table. In one word, my recent visit to Meridian was "lovely". For starters, the space is beautiful, sophisticated, an upscale (but not overly stuffy). The bar and bartenders were awesome! They created a mocktail just for me when I couldn't find anything I wanted on the drink menu and it was absolutely delicious. I'll admit, I'm not by any means an expert on South American cuisine, but everything I had was pretty good. I selected the snapper, risotto and pavlova from the prix fixe menu and had no complaints. The only negative was that despite raves from our server (and our table neighbors), the cabbage based Okonmiyaki was no bueno. The flavor profile just wasn't working, a little too sweet and acidic.
