Found a great spot for a relaxed evening. The bartender was incredibly friendly and spot-on with their recommendations. We tried few different beers and an old fashion, all of which were excellent. We started with a Buffalo chicken wraps appetiser, and they were a great. The atmosphere is a huge plus; they play light music at just the right volume, making it easy to hold a conversation. I've been to Ron's a few times now and it's quickly become one of my go-to spots. The vibe is relaxed, the food is solid, and the drinks always hit the spot!! Huge shoutout to Planet, the bartender, who always delivers top-tier service. Friendly, fast, and just an all-around great energy behind the bar. I came in for Texas Tuesday and took full advantage of the $3.50 Texas beers all day. The wings were crispy and flavorful, and the chicken bacon ranch wrap was even better than I remembered. We were looking for a new place nearby and this popped up as a spot for food and whiskey selection. Our appetizer was the chips and queso which did come with salsa as well. $7.49 Unfortunately, I wasn't a fan of the flavor of the chips. The salsa was heavy on the tomato flavor to the point it seemed more of a marinara than salsa. The queso was you're at home Velveeta queso, not bad but nothing special. For my entree I selected the Southwestern Chicken Salad. $12.49 Grilled Chicken, Lettuce Blend, Cheddar & Jack, Pico, and Tortilla Strips. I swapped out my ranch for the jalapeno ranch. Loved my salad, very big and the veggies were all fresh. The chicken was well seasoned and not overcooked. My partner went with their Friday special: Chicken Fried Steak $11.99 Which came with 2 sides: steamed broccoli and mash potatoes. This plate was very large and filling. The steak was very thinly breaded and well-seasoned. This is a plus, when they overbreed the steak it hardly every holds its form, but this was not the case here. the mash potatoes are rich and creamy. Can't really mess up steamed broccoli but definitely extra points for the added garlic bread that came with the plate. The cost of most menu items varies on the meal but overall, very affordable because we did choose to drink our bill was a little higher but expected. My partner being the whisky fan that he is was highly impressed with their selection and the old fashion he was given. We will most likely be returning to check out other menu items! read more

Rons smells of cigarette smoke. The place next door allows smoking but Rons does not but it reeks. AVOID. Trying to order basic drinks is a time consuming process and then it seems like the staff is stuck on what to do. If you are unable to see all the liquor bottles, do not take a step towards the bar for a better view- you can treated like a Mexican American mistreated an by Orange Terd supporter that feels this is you trying to take her job. Ron's Place is a gem for sure especially if you're in search for craft beer. I used my Yelp app to find nearby spots, and this was the closest. The barkeep was polite & his service was fantastic, offering tasters before I committed to a full pour, which is always a huge plus. The bar features what I call the "Great Wall of Beer," showcasing ancient beers from over the years. Even though I didn't grow up during those times, I could feel the journey and history of those beers, adding a nostalgic touch to the experience. I can't wait to visit again someday! read more

I really enjoyed my HH at Ron's. It's strictly a bar, and that's all I need it to be. They have a great beer PLUS! A good whiskey/bourbon selection. Sweet! And a really good Texas beer special I took advantage of on my visit. Staff were super courteous and attentive. My only detractors were one: the smoke smell which was strong, and two: the tip is included in your bill. While my server was good and worth the generous tip they applied, tipping is my choice. This is not a standard practice and I do not appreciate it. (I was not in a large group) read more

I normally go on Wednesdays, which feature hundreds of whiskeys you can try for $5. Perfect for a whiskey lover. I love their food, always affordable and the service is top tier! The bartenders are both super personable and know so much about the liquors they are serving. I normally get the mango habanero wings, they are so good. This visit I tried the buffalo chicken egg rolls for an appetizer and the stuffed chicken with a salad for my entree. 10/10! Love this place. read more

So I feel like this is a hidden gem that many people are overlooking in their neighborhood. I'll start off by saying I had a Groupon as this place is not in my neighborhood but if it was I swear I'd be here more often. We walked in and there wasn't much of a crowd and I won't lie, I got worried. However the bartender greeted us and was extremely friendly so I was like maybe it's not so bad. If I tell you that the food was great, the drink specials were wonderful and the friendly atmosphere made me wish that this place was in my neighborhood! This review is for Ron's whiskey selection and pricing. The sampler appetizer was solid - nice brisket quesadillas, onion rings, wings and cheese sticks, but I didn't come for the food lol. On "Whiskey Wednesday's" Ron's has an extensive list of whiskey's priced at $5 per 1 1/2 oz pour. I selected an outstanding 4 Roses Single Barrel from the list. But the allocated whiskeys are not on their menu and I spotted a Weller CFPB and a Full Proof on their top shelf - just came in. At $14.50 and $13.50 HH pricing, respectively, it was a no-brainer - this pricing can't be beat. But my favorite was the Weller 12 year at $8 a pour. It's an excellent value, and one of my new favorite whiskeys, and generally in stock. Our bartender - Planet - was very attentive and a great conversationalist. Ron's is a real find - great neighborhood bar with a great vibe. I'll definitely be back! read more

Went two weeks ago on Wednesday for the $5 whiskey drinks to try a few new drinks . The first time we tried it, the service was slow and the glasses were so warm ( I'm guessing from the dishwasher) the ice melted within a couple of minutes so ruined the drink . Then last week on Wednesday it was worse! The lady bartender ( African American ) was so rude. She was complaining they didn't have enough help but never apologized for the slow service , just complained and took her time serving us. She would wait on "regulars" way before she helped us. My partner and I visted on Super Bowl Sunday. It was one of the few places that had seats open. They have two sides smoking and non-smoking being the smaller of the two. Customer service was excellent. Our waitress was very attentive throughout the entire night. We order buffalo wings and the chicken tender basket. It was typical bar food and just okay. We ordered a bucket of beer and 4 shots. The shots definitely tasted like it had a shot of water in it. No kickback whatsoever! However, for $60, I'd say that's a great deal. read more
