I moved one month ago and just getting around to filling out this review of Global Moving System. My wife and I always do our research when making a large purchase decision. This was no different. We reached out to five moving vendors before making our selection. All saying what you expected them to say and some overly persistent reaching out to me before making my selection. Global Moving System was the only one that took the time to send someone to my house to give a first-hand evaluation of our move which was very professional in my opinion vs Zoom call or basing the job on the square footage of our house. They came off as very professional. Had a good track record and a lower price than the rest. So we selected them for our move. They kept in touch with me throughout the process. The day of the move they were punctual and came ready to work. They worked throughout the day only stopping briefly for lunch on a 12-hour day and at our house, They worked like a fine-oiled machine. Them knowing what each person's responsibilities were. Never slowing down and Staying on point. They left our house late that night with about a van's worth of items not fitting on either truck. Only to then have to drive the two trucks out of state the next day to unload the morning the next day. They stayed positive and cheerful the whole day, The office manager managed to make some magical adjustments to other scheduled trucks to pick up the balance of our load and deliver seamlessly for us as well as the other jobs schedule. The owner also worked very had to find someone who would professionally reassemble our pool table after our move and called me personally to speak with me and share the arrangement he made. This is the 7 move I have been involved in 5 out of state moves, work-related, and can honestly say they were the best I have worked with. I couldn't have been more pleased with the service, price, and professionalism at every level. I would highly recommend them and will make sure to share my experience with as many as I can. I moved March 30th from NYC to Bethesda, MD with two babies from a three bedroom apartment that was full of belongings. These guys were amazing. I got an all inclusive quote - there were no hidden fees, no drama. The move went very well - nothing was damaged and the guys were very quick. The apartment was completely empty in about three hours. During this time they moved all boxes, suitcases, and furniture to their truck. Dissembling of some furniture was needed as well (and they helped our reassemble it at the new place). I am so happy I hired Global Moving Systems for my cross-country move. The 3 men who packed my fragile belongings and furniture took their time, and did it right. Moving is stressful and moving companies are risky but this one was a disaster. GMS gave us a 3 day window for the pickup of our possessions to be moved cross country. The week before Yuriy, the sales manager, called to ask if we could move the date ahead as they had an opening. We explained that we were not packed and were working towards our agreed 3 day window. There was no communication after our possessions were in their hands. After numerous messages, I finally was informed that our possessions were in storage and would not be available until possibly 24 days after pickup. I was told the delay was due to the fact I did not agree to an earlier pickup. My sectional was dismantled without my knowledge and not reassembled. The damage is too long to list. They were ready to schedule for the SAME day which was Saturday, or the next day, Sunday -- like woahh, you guys are fast! Like dang, you guys are ready to move like my dad (ha, pun intended). I used Global Moving Systems to move out of my house and into storage, as my lease was up and I'm quarantined out of state. I was anxious about having to facilitate them packing and moving my things without my being there, but overall, the company was very responsive leading up to my move, answered my questions ahead of time, and performed the move within the estimated number of hours. The reason for only three stars was the timing of the movers arrival and the lack of communication on move day. The movers were supposed to arrive between 1-4, and call me ahead of time so I could walk through what needed to be done with them. I moved meetings around at work, facilitated street parking, and friends to meet the movers assuming this window, and then heard nothing. Ultimately, after I called, I was told their earlier move had gone long--but they didn't arrive until 5:30pm and I had to keep calling the main line to get the movers status. There was no automatic updating on their part and it unfortunately made it stressful. I would recommend the crew, they were excellent and even FaceTimed me to make sure they had everything, but overall, the move day experience from the main management wasn't handled professionally. read more

If I could give 0 stars I would. Booking was easy but unenthused. I felt like I was selling myself when I first called in and not the other way around. I should have taken this as a red flag, but I figured it was end of day and everyone has off days. The price was in the middle range of the quotes I'd received so I booked the move. Day of my move the movers were late. They were scheduled to arrive between 9 and 10am, I called dispatch at 9:55 and was told they were in traffic. My crew didn't show up until 10:30/10:45 which makes me think they had just left when I called or someone severely slept in. Either way, they should have called ME not the other way around. My move was a long distance move to California and there was absolutely no coordination in regards to when my items would arrive. The form you fill out tells you to call to arrange delivery and I called multiple times. Finally I was given the phone number of my truck driver and I was told to call him. Thanks for coordinating GMS - that's what I pay YOU for. After a week I called the driver. I still had hopes someone would contact me but nope. Driver said he'd be there "after Wednesday." Twenty minutes later he calls back and says he'll be there ON Wednesday. Movers arrive on time on the delivery day and scam me out of $300. I live on the 2nd floor but because there was a landing halfway up the stairs, they charged me $75 for an extra flight of stairs. Then, since they have to park behind my building and not in front of me they charged me a "long carry fee" of $225. I'm not even sure how the walk they did equates to a long carry... the hallway that leads to my stairs connects to BOTH sides of the stairs so they maybe walked 30 extra feet than if they'd been able to pull up "front." And again, front and back is irrelevant since the breezeway connects to both sides. This extra $300 was NOT written on my final invoice and was demanded in cash. If I did not pay, they said they would unload my goods on the sidewalk and I could have friends over to carry it up. Yes, they said that. To a 100lb female who moved from DC to CA. They knew damn well I don't have friends to carry my large furniture and they knew I was expected at work at 1pm that day so leaving my stuff outside was not an option. That's ridiculous to even suggest that. It takes them 3hrs and multiple smoke breaks to unload the truck. A piece of my bed was "lost" so they couldn't assemble my bed and my entertainment center was damaged. The crew was of no help. I called the moving company and told them that the support beams and screws were probably in the truck. I had watched my pickup crew tape the screws to the beams and based off the inventory sheet, I knew they were loaded on the truck. GMS said they'd call me back after connecting with the driver and surprise! they never did. They'd also said I could send them a bill for having to fix my entertainment center and buy replacement pieces for the bed but since nobody was calling me back at any point in this process and I'd already been scammed out of $300 I have 0 faith in being reimbursed for anything. Use at your own risk. I'll be posting a review to angie's list as well. The 5 star rating for this company is 100% unwarranted. Only positive is Stefan is really nice but sadly useless. He started to recognize my voice whenever I called but sadly didn't have the proper authority to help. read more

Not a good experience... Numerous large items were not moved/left behind by the crewmove such as: 1. Numerous large boxes (more than two) 2. Wooden dining room table 3. Tower fan  4. Ironing board  5. Book shelves (the crew moved the bookcase but not the shelves.. confusing) All of these items were place on my inventory list as requested before the move. I believe that your company is responsible for completing the job that your crew was paid for but did not complete. I already had to deal with the crew trying to get paid for an unscheduled stop to a gas station(with my belongings in the truck 40 minutes- I followed them and took pictures). This was a local move, 10 minute drive time at maximum. I should not have to manage this process to the degree that I had to. I am very unhappy; especially when I gave the crew a sizable tip. Easily one of the worst moving experiences I've had in the US was with Global Moving Systems. I was moving from Arlington, VA all the way to California and searched extensively on Yelp for movers with good reviews. My interaction with Global Moving Systems started off great, with Eugene being very responsive and coming to do a free inspection of our apartment in Arlington promptly. I was happy with the rate and expected good service based on the reviews here. I booked them for full packing and moving. Three packers arrived at my apartment on the move date and started packing at about 9am. The guys left the apartment at 11 pm. We brought the guys lunch, gave them cake etc to eat and kept on bringing them coffee. While I don't mind people eating from my kitchen, I did think it would have been nice if they asked before consuming every last bottle of flavored water in my fridge (two of which I had saved for my husband and myself). They even ate cooking chocolate fro my cabinets while packing my kitchen. The most annoying thing was that the three movers asked for a specific amount of tip at 11 pm. I only had so much cash on my hand but they were not willing to leave till we paid them the specified amount of tip. So much so that they went to the ATM with my husband and made sure he withdrew the right amount of money. Fast forward three weeks later in CA, we were given no notice when our stuff would be delivered. One morning the driver called while we were at work and said he could only come the next morning or at 6pm the same day. After a lot of back and forth where we tried to tell him we can't reach home before 7pm, he finally agreed to come at 6:30 pm. My husband and I rushed back home with our four month old on the metro but due to train delays we were 25 minutes late. The driver called us at 6:30 asking us where we were. When we told him our train was running late, the guy starting shouting on the phone. Great customer service! Finally, there were two guys who showed up for the unpacking. One of those guys was some retired local person the driver had picked up on Craigslist. The poor guy was panting while carrying our stuff and had no idea what he was doing. Ultimately the driver left in a hurry after unloading the truck and didn't assemble all the things they had disassembled in Arlington, even though that was part of the contract. read more

This company was great UNTIL they damaged my practically brand new sofa during the move. I had taken great care to fully wrap my sofa in foam padding and plastic prior to the movers' arrival. And when they finally got to it, I specifically told them to use furniture blankets as well if it would help protect it further. They insisted the furniture blankest were unnecessary. Then, when the movers set my sofa down in my new apartment and started to walk away (hoping I wouldn't notice anything), I saw that the plastic wrap and foam padding I had secured around the sofa was torn through in one spot and underneath it the couch itself was ripped. The upholstery on one corner of the sofa arm was torn and the upholstery staples were ripped out and bent backwards. When I pointed this out to the movers, they tried to say it wasn't a big deal and tried pushing it back in. Given the strength of those staples, they had to have forcibly shoved the sofa through an opening in order to rip it apart so badly. I'm super disappointed at the lack of care taken for my belongings. They also ignored the "Fragile" and "Do not crush" I had written on a few boxes because during their first trip from my apartment to load the moving truck, they stacked a bunch of the boxes on a hand truck and proceeded to roll/drop it stair by stair with the contents audibly rattling with each stair they descended - due to my thorough pre-packing and bubble wrapping, none of the contents broke but I couldn't believe they proceeded to do this down 4 flights of stairs given how terrible and precarious it sounded. After that first trip, they carried the rest of the boxes by hand. I would NOT recommend GMS if you're worried about your belongings getting damaged. read more

Long version: started out great-- I'm told whether I have 6 or 600 items it's a flat fee and a 16ft truck. Wow, what a deal! They ask to load up the truck the night before my scheduled move. Ok sure I guess. They call and ask if I have a lot of stuff to which I answered "yes". They show up with a huge (~30 ft ? truck) that is 3/4 of the way full. Hmm, no chance everything is fitting in there. But first they ask if I have any water. Okay, everything I own is packed & I haven't retained anything for myself but sure, here's some water. These three guys-- WOW! Talk about moving at a glacial speed. I'll call them brains and two bodies because my mother & I weighing in at a combined 240 lbs could have moved more items faster than the two bodies. Then the brains briefly said they wouldn't disassemble some crappy furniture. Isn't that your job? Very confusing. They found a way. Except didn't matter because they broke it anyway (and did later give me some money, thank you for that). Everything was moved ignoring vertical arrows, big bold fragile, this end up, etc. Parts of shelves flying all over the place, nuts, bolts, screws falling out, my condo floor trim ripped from the wall in multiple places, fragile items tossed around with complete disregard. Really frustrating. Had I known my belongings were going to be loaded and unloaded twice and haphazardly tossed and smushed, and left in a parking lot for half the day while they tried to make them fit in a truck that wasn't the truck I was told I would have, I never would have agreed to them coming earlier. It was very misleading and I felt completely taken advantage of. Fast forward about 5 hours later. They've been playing Tetris with my belongings in my condo parking lot because it won't all fit. Weird because I asked at least half a dozen times if it all would fit. They start to strap my mattress and boxspring to the exterior of the truck to drive it to their "office". It starts raining. Rain or not, it was completely inappropriate and unacceptable for them to do this. The "brains" here Chris says it's only a short distance. Are you kidding me? He then tells me my mattress isn't worth very much anyway. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! At this point I lost my mind and called Eugene, who ultimately showed up in the 16 ft truck I was told I'd get. This was about 9:30 pm. Eugene said he'd probably be the one coming to NY the next day. Next day: leave two messages to get ETA. No response. Have to call Chris from yesterday who answered right away so redeeming point there and shortly thereafter I get a call saying they'll be there around 2pm. Part of the reason for the night before loading was so they could get there at noon. Logistically, I went above and beyond to make sure the truck had direct parking on a busy NY street-- we borrowed a DUMP TRUCK to hold them a spot. Not an easy task to keep on the street from 7am- noon, much less 2pm. I have squandered my resources in NY because this moving company IS THE WORST. Blood boiling at this point. They show up around 3 pm. The guys moving in were a million times better than the ones on Friday however Eugene said he'd be there and he wasn't so I felt less confident in all of this. Naturally, all the nuts, bolts, etc. I saw flying around my parking lot the day before were missing. The movers didn't seem to care. No bolts to put this entertainment center together, they don't care. Table ruined-- dirty and stained by something in a box they broke, they don't care. Also, a bunch of stuff is just not there. Didn't make it-- must still be in the warehouse they say. If they find it they'll send it up next weekend with another move!? This is just stuff I noticed, no clue what I might be overlooking! WOW. Unreal. Shady. You get the point. In summary, I would be more inclined to take a month off of work and move my belongings via rickshaw all by myself before I hired this company again. read more

However, I requested a move from my 2-bedroom place but the work order stated that I only had a 1-bedroom apt. Subsequently the truck they sent was too small to move my stuff in one trip. I used them last weekend for a fairly big move from a townhouse to a single family home. For the most part they did a good job. Pros: Nothing broken, lead for the job great at packing, efficient and very helpful. All 3 were hard workers Cons: The other 2 guys didn't speak english or the same language as each other so they didn't understand the lead or each other. My dining table ended up on the 3rd floor, everything from the office was on 2nd floor ended up on another floor and needed to get moved and I'm still finding things in different rooms and floors regardless of the boxes being labeled. They would continue to say "okay" to everything but didn't understand. I would have been happy to label rooms if I knew this was a problem. I don't know if I would use them again as they got the job done, but we lost of a lot of time and have to still move things around. I did call the company on Monday after the move, they said they were sorry and would call me back, but unfortunately I didn't hear back. read more
