Having used NewRay for my August 2025 move with excellent results (see my earlier review), I went back to them when circumstances prompted me to move again in February 2026. Both moves were transfers within my apartment building. In response to my request to get the same team if possible, the new three-person team had the same foreman as the previous three-person team. They once again did an excellent job - called in advance, arrived early, and worked very quickly and efficiently. The foreman planned well which items should be moved between the two apartments in each trip to minimize the number of trips and the work time. The team members were both friendly and professional. As with my previous move, the cost of the job came in well under the estimate due to the team's speedy work. My two experiences with NewRay have been a refreshing contrast to my experiences with other movers over the years. I plan to continue to use them for any future moves. read more

Only giving a 4 because after they left, realized some pretty heavy stuff (mattress and something else) that should have gone in- was left in garage. Update 8/6: The company contacted me saying that there must be a mistake because my move wasn't 800, it was 675. The office sent me the receipt they have which says total 675 (I was at my office I could not check mine at the time). I paid $600 cash, $147 over Zelle, and had already paid a $48 deposit. The company said they never received the Zelle and I sent proof of the transaction. After this I get 5 phone calls from the number I had Zelled. They then call me back saying there was a silly misunderstanding, the movers must have been tired and made a mistake, and they will refund the $120 difference. They did give that money back, but it seemed really weird. When I got home and checked my own receipt, I realized the movers intentionally wrote a different amount on my receipt than the one they gave to the main office. The company must have realized that these individuals did receive a Zelle from me after they reached out to the team of movers and then tried to say it was a mistake. When I sent the photo showing the discrepancy, they said sorry and that they "are addressing the issue internally to ensure it does not happen again" and offered me $50 in compensation. They did not communicate what steps they are taking to "address the issue internally," so I do not know if the individuals who created the inconsistent receipts still work for the company. They are shady, I would stay away. Original Review 7/30: The movers were nice enough and did a fine job, but I was quoted $480 to move my 530 ft apartment one block and they ended up charging me $800. It was billed hourly and there were 2 movers and it took way longer than anticipated, I don't know why because everything was packed before and it was a relatively small apartment that was a 2 minute drive away. If you are considering this company, I just want to be transparent that the quote is not accurate and I ended up paying almost double. read more

2 stars but couldn't been 1. Just feel some sympathy for the team b/c they are overworked. This for the correct company, NewRay. My experience: The movers broke items of value. Poor insurance coverage (very low dollar amount). Team disappeared for approx. an hour during the move between sites. Denied that they didn't (even though I reached the location before them (after leaving at least 40 minutes after they did) and they still charged me for that hour! Came w/o supplies to wrap the lamps even though I was told to leave it for the team to do. They gave me such a hard time that I told them to forget it- I will move the lamps. Left items in the elevator and were about to drive off. Dolly with box of books rolled off the dock and box fell apart. Lead mover was really obnoxious and kept complaining. Audacity to tell me that "I had too much stuff". Placed heavy boxes on top of boxes marked "Fragile" and resisted when I asked them not too...had to get very firm. Unbelievable. Truck was too small (claimed I told them my apt was 500 sq ft which was not true) and did not have space for my storage until. Had to hire an another company to complete the job It was a breath of fresh air- no complaining and efficient. Moved the untouched storage to the new location's storage in the same bldg. It took weeks to emotionally and physically recover from the fiasco. Didn't even bother to file a claim. Wouldn't cover the value anyway and I just wanted to be done with this company. If you have fine items that need care- do yourself a favor and look for another service. Penny-wise pound foolish and in the end, I paid way too much for this service (~$1500) not incl. the second mover. read more

At the last minute my elderly father told me he needed help moving into his new apartment. He previously had someone ready to aid in the move, but at the final hour I had to search for a company that would move him within the same building. Yes. He wasn't moving down the street or across town; just within the same building. I was quoted some insane prices when I didn't need a moving truck, or someone to unload and offload his items. New Ray luckily had a cancellation nearby and was able to squeeze me in. The price was fair, and by the time I arrived the men helping in the move were very kind and generous to my father. You always worry about your parents getting taken advantage of, But I'm glad I wasn't left feeling that way. The two gentlemen were able to move my dad into his larger apartment, and we're even kind enough to wait for me to finish packing up a few boxes that my dad had left undone. read more

Mixed experience.The team was understaffed for the amount of work- only 2 people - 1 packing and 1 carrying. i think that was the reason they were demotivated and clearly demonstrated their mood. For the same reason the move took very long, and that is considering I packed a lot of boxes myself before their arrival and continued packing non-stop Along with the team. Yet, they forgot to pack a whole closet, which I noticed last minute and made them take at least big items into the truck. On the positive, they kindly agreed to take a couch that did not fit into the new property back to the old apartment, naturally for a charge including storage charge. Sasha, administrator, was excellent, very efficient communicator. However, it would be easier to communicate directly, not through the app. It all worked out at the end! read more

The movers were delicate with my stuff but still worked fast and even gave me tips on how to file a claim with the old moving company when some of my stuff broke (NewRay had nothing to do with breaking anything, it was just a mishap with another moving company). Movers shattered a glass tabletop into my treadmill. Bits of glass are in the motor and are embedded into the tread rendering it unsafe to use. Their only offer was to send the mover who broke it there to disassemble and fix it. read more

My movers Delvert & Pader were absolutely amazing. They were able to move everything out of my apartment and into a storage unit in 2.5 hours which was less than the estimated amount of time. They moved as slow as possible taking one single pillow at a time to extend the time making the payment more gor moving with less items in 5 minute drive distance compared to our previous moving from 1 hour distance with more furniture. They could actually train the staffs instead of hiring manager to keep deleting and writing fake auto messages on review pages.​ read more

Everything was great and movers were efficient. Only negative was the punctuality and etiquette of the movers. The movers showed up smoking cigarettes inside of the moving truck. The arrival time was "around 8 am" and the team showed up 9 am. However, given these inconveniences, NewRay gave a 5% discount. read more

Was quoted at around $1600 for a 3 bedroom move, which included some boxes and packing assistance. I agreed and made the 10% down payment to confirm. Prior to then coning, i bought some mover box packs from uHaul in order to pack up the house. Once they arrived however, the movers immediately used my packs instead of their own - the ones I was already quoted and agreed to pay for. Although the new place we were moving to was less than five miles away, the move took over 10 hours, due to a lot of lolligagging and foot dragging -- ex: they unpacked and repacked some of my boxes, took frequent breaks, even complained that we had too much stuff and couldn't fit it all in the truck. Once it was all loaded up, the mover guys then took a "lunch break" and didn't meet us as the new place until 90 minutes later. I paid attention to this naturally, because I was paying by the hour. Upon arrival, they rushed to unload the truck, dropping boxes off randomly in various rooms. Only some of the boxes they packed were labeled, which also made this process difficult. They built the beds back up, but only one out of the 4 tvs. The rest of the boxes were randomly placed throughout the house, or we had to direct them (mostly due to them not labeling any boxes that they packed) In the end, the lead mover tallies up the bill to $2800!!! Double the remaining amount of payment, which after the downpayment was a little over $1400. Shocked by the bill, i asked how we got to such a number. The lead began complaining about the number of boxes, didn't even acknowledge the 90 minute lunch break, or the use of my pre-paid boxes, nor the fact they sloppily unpacked the house. He then had a flashback and started to tell me a story about a similar tough move he had 9 years ago where...I stopped him right there because I didn't care to hear the rest. Moral of the story -- BUYER BEWARE. Watch for the hidden fees with this company - what they quote you may turn out to only be HALF of what you actually pay!!! read more

Let's face it , moving sucks no matter how organize you may be. BUT what makes the experience tolerable is the right moving company and the right time. NewRay Moving company EXCEEDED my expectations. I had an amazing experience and WILL use them again. Denis and his crew members were awesome! Very patient, arrived early and was ready to get started. Everyone was polite, focused and communicated well. The price was reasonable and Sasha was awesome too, from initial quote (on 6/16/25) to itemizing and assuring that they will adjust to actual use of time (moved on 6/18/25). I didn't feel over or undercharged nor did they drag it out like some on this app(in the past). They maintained their composure despite my 3year old insisting on helping or being in the way (lol). Not one scratch or broken item. My family upgraded from a 2bedroom apt to a two story townhome so walls and steps are narrowed and there were no scratches, or dings on the wall afterwards. An excellent experience from start to finish. For various reasons, I had to reschedule my move twice and they were very accommodating. The two gentlemen showed up on time and had the truck loaded so fast that I was scrambling to pack up my last kitchen items, etc. Made it to my new home in good time and unloaded FAST. If there's another option, you need to take it! The movers were great, but the operational aspect is ALL ABOUT GETTING AS MUCH MONEY out of you as possible! I originally asked for 9am, we agreed, they switched me to 3pm (double booked.) The company sent them out in a too small truck, but blamed me--they had to make 2 trips to the storage facility, but the facility closes at 6pm so the remainder of my items are left. The mover agreed to come the next day to finish the job, but the company wanted to charge me a new move. Not only do I have to hire a new company for 6-8 items, I have to extend my storage contract by a month. If only this cheap ass company would have sent a bigger truck, those 2 movers would have done in 3 hours! If you hire this company, you're going to be SORRY, DONT DO IT!!!! read more
