I contacted The Phoenix Movers about 10 days out from my move, and they were very responsive. They gave me a great quote - several hundred dollars less than any other quote I got - and were simple to book via email. I appreciated that they didn't need a super detailed inventory like other movers I had contacted. Milosh and his crew arrived promptly at 9:00 AM, our agreed upon time. They were friendly and efficient, taking care to pack fragile items. I was amazed at how quickly they packed up the truck! When we arrived at the new address, Milosh navigated a very tight alley with a 20" truck like a champ - I was truly impressed. They made the best of a less than desirable situation (couldn't lock the elevator), and were upbeat and smiling the entire time. We joked around a bit and it was nice to have such friendly guys. They were very insistent on making sure my items were where I wanted them, which I appreciated, seeing as I would've had a hard time moving them on my own. I had a last-minute delayed closing, which pushed everything back, including my move. The movers I had lined up were not available in my new window, and they recommended Raoul and his team at Phoenix Movers. These guys were great! Raoul was super communicative the whole time, and they showed up on time, ready to roll, with dollys, carts, and mattress covers to help move the heavy things. They worked quickly and efficiently, but not recklessly, and I quickly felt at ease with them handling my items. I also felt very safe with all three of them - as a single woman in a big city, that's important to me. They were courteous and friendly, and the price at the end was exactly as agreed. I ended up settling with them for moving my things out of state for the time being, with only a few weeks to spare, but their scheduler Symone was amazingly communicative on all my concerns and questions, and was able to reach a satisfying solution for every concern I had. Once moving day came, the team was exceedingly efficient, polite, and easy to work with. We ended up arriving at the destination at almost the same time, and through a downpouring rainstorm and difficulties with the doorways/hallways at the destination they were amazing and performed everything with the same efficiency as they did when they loaded the truck. Motivated team, but did not adhere to COVID safety standard (did not wear masks...) Also, I felt the movers were careless with bumping walls with most items. I expect a ding or two here and there, but it seemed as though these guys were a little careless and insensitive when I politely asked for them to not drop furniture on the floor for risk of damaging the new hardwood floors installed. I was also baffled by the fact that my queen box spring encountered trouble getting up the stairs and the moving crew significantly damaged my roof. When I confronted them they implied I gave permission and that they weren't liable. Ultimately, I did not have a good experience. Would not recommend. read more

I found Phoenix Movers through Yelp and boy am I glad I did!! Most companies are offering two men for the same hourly rate as Phoenix, but Phoenix provides FOUR men. They were hard workers and obviously experienced movers. I have a few difficult pieces of furniture that movers have truly struggled with in the past, but not Phoenix! They knew exactly how to maneuver every piece perfectly and they even gave me a few pointers for future reference. All my belongings arrived in tact which is most important by far, but a five star review can't be given due to the issues below: The movers were an hour late which was stressful as apartment moves in big buildings are on tight timelines given service elevators and loading docks require reservations. I had to go to my storage unit and personally move all the belongings from there to my car or apartment to save time for the movers upon arrival. I called to see if any discount would be offered and was asked why I had moved the items myself given the movers finished in just over 2 hours in a slightly accusatory versus sympathetic tone. Ultimately, another person called to accept payment and I was given a 40 minute discount (-$92) to make the full move 4 full hours when another company did it in under 3 hours last year. I shared with the owner that this crew taking 4 hours and 40 minutes was visibly excessive for a 550 sq ft apt move though this was about 30 minutes farther in travel time. He did not respond. #220 HIGHLY UNPROFESSIONAL. Last month, I hired Phoenix Movers on the basis of the positive rating on yelp-- I wish I hadn't. One of the movers hit on my girlfriend during the move. He asked her about our relationship such as how long we'd been going out and that he was interested in Asian women. And at the end of the move, he gave her his phone number and asked her out while I was paying the other mover. What should've been a 2 1/2 hour move between opposite ends of the Courthouse neighborhood ended up taking 3 1/2 hours, and that was only after I lent a helping hand to move the furniture and boxes as well. Although efficient at first, they started lagging behind, sweating, exhausted, and moving like sloths when it came to moving the furniture into the new apartment. At $120/hr, this is very unacceptable for a "professional" moving group. They also over-charged for moving boxes. They charged us $8 to RENT a wardrobe box. You can purchase the same wardrobe box at Home Depot for $10. Rip-off. I wouldn't recommend this moving company. Highly unprofessional and lazy movers. read more

We had a 3-man team, and they were all professionals. I was particularly impressed with the respect they showed other residents (being conscious of noise, people passing in tight hallways, etc.) and the cleaning company that our apartment management hired to clean the hallways that day (not ideal during a move!). They handled our furniture with care, probably even more than I would have done myself - no damage. They worked quickly and wasted no time. We couldn't have asked for more. Perfect service. Obtaining a quote and scheduling was very quick and easy. They were responsive within the hour. Sent three guys who moved everything from Arlington, VA to Crozet, VA. Started around 9 and were done by 5/5:30 (including a 2.5 hour drive). Most importantly everything was intact. Very friendly employees and professional. One heads up is that they do not come equipped with tools to take apart any furniture..you need to provide that. I know some movers show up with those things but these guys don't. I used Phoenix Movers on July 5, 2014. They were easy to work with, friendly, and professional. Making the reservation was very easy. I made my reservation by email, as I prefer to do, and they were very responsive. That helped to seal the deal for me, because another company I looked at took days to get back to me. Three men helped me move. I forget their names (sorry, guys!). They were efficient and friendly. I suggested taking my bed frame apart so that it would be easier to move, and one of the movers said it was no trouble to move, and he wouldn't recommend taking it apart because that would mean more time on the clock to take it apart and put it back together. I really appreciated his honesty! He could've just done as I suggested and charged me for more time, so I appreciated that. All of my belongings were handled with care. The price was comparable to other movers I looked at, but the customer service is what made me go with Phoenix movers and I don't regret it. I recommend them. Apparently, they also rent moving crates! I did not know this--I rented my crates from somewhere else--but they told me when they showed up and saw that I had crates. So be sure to ask them about that, because crates make moving so much easier! read more

Try Another Mover. The good - pricing & general responsiveness are good. The bad - do expect items to go missing, get nicked/scraped/scuffed, packing bins busted & not usable again, items marked fragile treated same as others & busted. There will be no compensation as this company will be quick to tell you they do not cover any of this, or anything they have not packed themselves as a rule. Do expect quite a wait on the few things they do cover - you'll be on their time, not much regard for your time at that point. I've moved many times, not had so much effort on my end required nor so much damage to repair/replace after. If you plan to hire them to pack AND move your items maybe it's worth a look, if you've moved before, are good with packing your things & just need reasonable no-fuss movers, there are many other options. If it helps, the best ones I've used so far always took 5 min to quickly put color coded stickers on to track how many items (nothing lost) and indicate which was fragile (nothing busted). Moving is super stressful, good movers are a relief - happy stress relieving! read more

Worst. Movers. Ever. That's what I texted my friends during my move with Phoenix Movers. I have moved twice, granted it was in Philly and there were 3 guys not 2. But still. They called 5 minutes AFTER they were supposed to show up to say they would be 45 minutes late. They were an hour and 15 late. It took them 3 hours to move OUT of a 1 bedroom. Just out. They lost the elevator we had reserved and we were chasing after it for a long while. I understand that wrapping things like couches and tables is a good thing and was glad to have them do it. But when I said the table had to be dismantled (that I could have done myself) the guy brushed it off and wrapped up the whole thing. It came apart in the truck. We only finished the move in 5 hours because we started dragging stuff down the hall. It seemed like one guy knew what he was doing, but the two of them together were the slowest movers I've ever encountered and we were paying by the hour. Worst. Movers. Ever. read more

I used Phoenix Movers for a local apartment move and it was a terrible experience. The movers were new which resulted in a very slow and inexperienced move. I know new people need to be trained, but customers should not be penalized in the process. My new apartment is less than five miles from my old apartment and the move took almost 3 hours. Both my old building and new building had elevators and I only had one bedroom worth of things. The movers also forgot the boxes I requested which slowed down the process. In all, this was an incredibly disappointing experience and dealing with customer service afterwards was awful. read more

I'm giving them five stars because I'd love to give them 4.5 but I figured I might as well just round up! First off, the booking process was very easy. A few days before the move, an employee called me to double check what all I was moving and let me know what size truck they would have. Day of the move, the movers showed up early! Considering the movers I used previously were two hours late, this was a welcomed surprise. They packed up both mine and fiance's old apartments and moved us in to our new place in 2.5 hours. I loved that they charged per hour too. No need to pay a flat rate for something that might not take as long as you'd think. After we began unpacking, I realized that I was missing some pictures. I emailed them and found out they were left on the truck by accident. An employee stopped by a few days later to deliver them. Talk about great service. The movers who helped me were super nice and jovial and we had a good time throughout the process. Who would've thought a move could actually be fun? read more
