Mickey and his crew are incredible. My first experience with Phoenix so I'm sure they have other great crews, but I will definitely request Mickey's for my next move. They took great care of all our stuff, were fast, friendly, prompt and possessed near super-human strength and stamina. We had a lot of stuff, some of it insanely heavy. They got it all up and down stairs without damage to the items or the house. We scheduled a three-man crew at a flat rate. When they arrived and saw the amount of work they had to do they correctly arranged for a fourth man to assist. We were charged appropriately for the time of both size crews. We were worried that we would incur additional charges but aside from the hourly rate we only paid the truck charge, which was very reasonable. Aside from the move, Mickey is an expert Tetris-style loader. We got much more in our storage unit than we expected, expertly arranged without adding unnecessary time to do so. I had an overall good experience with Phoenix Movers. Raul and Vladimir were very efficient and protected all of my furniture. They also wore masks the whole time, which I appreciated. My only issue was that they showed up an hour late, while the main office called me and told me they would be only about 15 minutes late. After moving twice on our own, we learned the advantages of having professional movers do the work. Phoenix Movers are fantastic! We have used them a total of three times, thus far and they have always been timely, efficient, and economical. There cannot be a better recipe for moving. Do you ever imagine having to call the POLICE on your moving day because your movers are threatening to drive off with a truck full of your furniture unless you pay them more money than what was agreed upon in your signed contract? Yeah, neither did we. But that's where we found ourselves after hiring The Phoenix Movers. My family has moved quite a bit in the past 10 years and these people are by far the most unprofessional, dishonest, incompetent movers we have ever worked with. Read on if you're interested in the details of our disastrous experience with this company. They began the move on Sunday Sept 15, 2019, they were extremely slow, complained the entire time and it took them an entire day to make ONE trip to the new house. At night, halfway through loading the truck for the second trip, they stopped and said they were tired and would continue the next day. We reluctantly agreed even though we felt unease at the idea of them driving away with our furniture for the night. The next morning Monday Sept 16, 2019, they finished loading up the truck with the remainder of our furniture. There must have been poor communication between the movers and the owner because when he found out they didn't finish the job the night before he was furious, and they demanded we pay them more money. Even though they come to our house beforehand and were well aware of the exact amount of furniture we have when they quoted us a flat rate. They did not tell us this the night before when they asked to finish the next day that there would be an additional fee. Only after they had loaded the remainder of our furniture did they spring this surprise on us so that we would be forced to pay up. When we said we wouldn't be coerced into paying extra they threatened to drive away with our furniture, their exact words "We're keeping your furniture then, see you in court". We called the police on them. The police officer read the contract and said there was some fine print in there that the quote they give you is an "estimate" (so be prepared to pay more if you decide to gamble with these people). By that point, we were so exhausted that we were willing to just pay them the extra to finish the job but they refused to finish out of pure pride. They unloaded a FULL truck back into our old house, even though it would've taken just the same amount of time/effort to unload it into the new house. We found ourselves scrambling to find another company last minute on the day we were supposed to deliver the keys of our home to the new owner. Please think twice about hiring these people if you (1) have a single family home - they are completely overwhelmed by big moves, (2) need to be out of your home by a specific day -they will likely not finish in one day, and (3) don't like to be surprised with hidden fees - they will reel you in with a low quote and then force you to pay extra when you are desperate and have no other choice. read more

The great guys moved a huge bunch of our furniture up near Baltimore and household goods from the house we sold into storage yesterday May 29th, and they did a terrific job. We are real pleased. We had some real nice furniture and they took great care of it it plastic wrapping it before they moved it so it will stay nice. It only took them 4 hours to do it all but they took plenty of time making sure they didn't bump into things or break anything along the way. We will definitely call them when we need to get it all out of the storage unit and where ever we are going. Highly Recommended! read more

I hired Phoenix to move my two bedroom apartment a two weeks ago. I did some price checking with various movers in the area and found them to be in the middle as far as pricing went. Scheduling was pretty simple and i was actually able to reach someone on the phone. Surprisingly enough, most movers just didn't answer their phones. Moving day came and the crew that arrived was very courteous and polite, actually really nice guys. They wrapped all my furniture in blankets and shrink wrap, pretty efficiently might add. Nightmare experience (September 2019): I'm going to simply state the facts as to stay objective as possible. These movers arrived late the day of without any call to let us know their eta. Within 1 hour of starting, they called to complain to their supervisor about a lot of boxes (boxes, not unpacked stuff). Refused to move box springs up the stairs after minimal effort because it was too tight of a corner (we later got the box springs upstairs ourselves with no problem). Complained throughout the day despite us buying them lunch and providing them with food and water throughout the day. At 10PM they requested to finish the job the next day and we said okay but when they showed up the next day they demanded more money and threatened to leave with our furniture if we didn't pay it. After calling the police to mediate the situation, we ultimately agreed to pay the extra amount they requested. At that point they decided they didn't want to finish the job despite giving them the exact amount they requested. Overall, this company is the most unprofessional and unreliable company in the area. They have a couple good reviews from small apartment moves but if you have anything more than a one bedroom, this is the experience you'll likely be getting. Their quote will be low, but it means nothing since they'll ask for significantly more otherwise they'll take your furniture. Hope this review is helpful to other prospective customers! read more

We choose Phoenix after receiving multiple bids to move from one home to another locally. We asked very specific questions during the in-home estimate like, are your movers employed by your company or are they subcontracted or laborers? we were told they are employed directly by the company. I asked specifically to be the first move of the day because we had a tight schedule, our move was from a decent sized home, and we were booking far enough in advanced, we also paid more for an additional truck and men because we wanted the move done quickly. We were deceived on all fronts. Phoenix did NOT end up completing our move. They arrived late (by almost three hours) with one truck and two guys (one of which was not even a worker for the company and who ended up leaving after loading up some boxes and complaining for an extended period of time about how his "real" company was better). Then we kept being told in another 15 minutes or 30 minutes that the other crew would show up WITH THE MATERIALS TO WRAP OUR FURNITURE, only they never did! From 9am to 5pm the only thing that was accomplished was boxes being packed on the one truck. All of our furniture remained in the house we were moving from. We kept getting promises that we would be moved that day and was even told this is all "normal" (ummm NOT, I have moved 15 times in my adult life and NEVER experienced something like this). All the random guys that showed up left because there was no truck and no supplies for them to move us. Eventually the one remaining guy took our boxes to our new home and my husband had to help him unload all the boxes INTO THE GARAGE!!! My husband had to move ALL the boxes ALONE from the garage into the various rooms in our house because the guy wanted to leave. Prior to all of this within the first 15 minutes of arriving, the one guy that came with his partner in the truck (the one who left all the boxes in the garage) almost took out my mailbox MULTIPLE times while attempting to back into the driveway. He also knocked over bins of ornaments and special items I had marked FRAGILE because he stacked them in the truck and moved the truck after they were in the back without being secured. These were precious ornaments given to me by my mother and was all broken. He was not very apologetic. The whole experience was horrible and literally my worst move EVER. Although the company offered to move us the following day we THANKFULLY found another company to work with at the last minute. I cannot recommend this company to my worst enemy. read more

Booked with The Phoenix Movers a week prior to move, followed up to confirm. Spoke to the same person both times we called. Upon move out day, we called 5 minutes past the agreed upon time to see their ETA and were told "Oh you aren't in the system, sorry about that, the person you spoke with is new, this has been happening" Understanding things happen (even though that is a really big error, messed up our entire move and brought endless stress), that is not an appropriate response. Something like, offering to reach out to their teams to see what they could do, or offering a discount for the future, would have been much more appropriate. Had Phoenix movers move my 1 bed room just about a week ago and smooth sailing from day one. The price was way better than Flat Rate Movers, Two Men and a Truck, and a couple other corporate ones I tried. I guess they dont have that corporate overhead so they pass the savings on to the customer... Scheduled with the secretary Ramel who called me back to confirm the times and called me to see how move went afterwards. Ramel was so nice I was thinking of asking him to go for coffee afterwards but then I thought that would be weird... At the move two guys showed up on time and handled my furniture with care. They wrapped my Imac, Flat screen before moving it and were gentle with the beds and couches. The one guy named Andre was pleasant and allways had something to say and showed me some of his football moves from his glory days but never taking his eye of the move. I felt safe with these guys and I strongly recomend them for anybody that wants to move from or to the DC area. 5 stars! read more

Not only did they wrap all my furniture up, but they took a king bed apart and rolled up rugs and did it efficiently and fast. When we got to the other place they took each box to the room listed on the box, they put all the furniture where I wanted it and they put the king bed back together! The three, 6-foot something guys who showed up at 9 AM sharp that morning were extremely polite, professional, and efficient. The quoted 4-6 hour move of a 1BR apartment took a painless 5 hours. They initially quoted us a per-hour fee, plus a flat charge for supplies, and that's exactly what they charged us when they were done. We couldn't be happier with their service. It was not a huge job, just one bedroom apartment, but I can only say Rommel's (he's the owner) guys did a fine job. They were effective and fast, caused no damage (always a challenge to avoid this when moving large, bulky items) to the walls and doors nor to the furniture, and were friendly, polite and cheerful. Loved these guys! This is the second time I've used them to move in the last few years and I've been very happy both times. Leroy and Mikhail were awesome yesterday. They wrapped everything and took great care to make sure my stuff was transported with minimal damage. I had this old crappy bookshelf that ended up having some paint get smudged and they kept apologizing even though it was totally my fault. They were great about checking what rooms I wanted certain items to go to so I wouldn't have to move much on my own after they left. And Symone was so helpful via email and phone to make sure I had everything coordinated before the guys came over. About a year ago I had two guys- Will and the other name escapes my memory- and they were top notch as well. In that situation the elevator of my building was broken and they were great sports about unexpectedly having to do most of the move via stairs.
