They didn't waste any time and communicated every step of the way. Frankly, they made the IMPOSSIBLE very possible. I am amazed at how efficient they are. Moving is a very stressful endeavor a month out just getting things ready and they made it seamless. Quick, efficient and under budget... yes, under my budget. I won't name names of other movers I've used and paid 30% more for less results. I have a 15 monitor work station that I am very hesitant about anyone touching let alone moving, but these guys handled it like a breeze, especially during a rainy day on top of everything else. I don't usually write reviews, but when a company EXCEEDS my expectations, it's a duty to let others KNOW. I would want the same as well, especially with so many moving companies out there and nightmare stories. These guys are LEGIT and DESERVE their reputation as a TOP PLAYER in the moving business. Prince Movers had the initial best rate and their hourly rate was great - far less than the other companies. Plus, they were able to move us on a Saturday. Our team was Carlos, Omar, Marvin, and Rafael. They showed up exactly on time, were polite, worked well together, and kept us fully informed of everything they were doing. One thing that was great is how they took time to prepare the home for the moving process, protecting floors, stairs, and other surfaces to make sure zero damage was done. Their wrapping of items was great - you can definitely tell that they care about protecting your items. Moving is always a pain, but Prince Movers and the team were awesome from the first quote to the final hand shakes with the team. I would recommend them to anybody and I will definitely use them again.

I quickly received a call from the company offering to discount my move and send Walter Davies, a furniture repair person, out to make furniture repairs. That concern for customers and making things right earns Bookstore Movers 5-star service. Walter Davies was excellent and thorough in repairing my furniture. We had a dedicated elevator, yet workers often brought items down only one or two at a time. I also saw team members on their phones or standing around in rooms and hallways instead of actively moving things. These delays added up quickly. The crew also misplaced parts of our bed frame, and the pieces had to be found before it could be reassembled. That alone added nearly an hour to the move. Because the move took much longer than expected, the final cost was significantly higher than the estimate we received. We were also charged based on an arrival time that was recorded as ten minutes earlier than when the crew actually arrived. The team was courteous, but given the inefficiency, added time, and higher final price, we would not use Bookstore Movers again. This is unfortunate, because we had been happy with them in previous moves.

So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. One gesture that I thought was just so classy, was the owner called in the middle of the move to check-in on how things were going - I really appreciated that. Overall, would definitely recommend PMC - they're easy to work with, fair and transparent about pricing and you're sure to be met with professionalism!

So I'm reverting back to my original review from July 2015 and going down one star out of principle. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I used Mic's Moving last month for a local move in the area. Pros ~ Quick, prompt response with quotes. When I did the online quote I received a call from Mic almost immediately. With me being completely frazzled from the move and a major project at work this made my decision easier; I went with Mic's. Speaking of being frazzled, I ended up thinking of a few more questions after I got off the phone with Mic. No problem, as he was easily accessible via email and was just as prompt and courteous with his email response. Punctual Moving Teams The day of the move the moving team showed up early and after surveying the pathways, what I had to put into storage and what was moving to my new place they got right to work. Competitive, Reasonable Pricing I was moving from one studio apartment to another studio apartment, two stops involved. I originally was quoted for a 3-person team but on the day of the move one guy called out sick so it went down to 2-people. Mic promptly applied a discount to my quote and my final price ended up being below the low-range of the quote range I was given. No bait and switch. Cons ~ I guess this really depends on the team that comes out to your place for the move. The guys sent to my apartment were nice, prompt and friendly but not as careful as I would have liked. For example, I'm used to movers wrapping my mattress in plastic before moving it onto the truck. These guys just placed it into their moving truck as is. I didn't realize this until we got to my new apartment and I saw the scuffs, dirt, and leaves my mattress had gathered from being placed up against the wall of the truck bed. Also, even though I had separated which items would go into storage and placed promient multiple highlight-colored post it notes indicating the items that would go into storage, and that I mentioned this upfront and repeated it again as they were moving --- several items still ended up in my new apartment instead of the storage unit. To their credit, however, they were apologetic about the storage item mix up. And when a part to one of my furniture pieces was missing they took time out to search their truck bed to find it. However, they left my apartment door propped open and left it up to me to reconvert everything back to the way it was before. It would've been nice if they had finished up what they started and were mindful of returning things back to the way they were instead of leaving it up to me. Bottom Line: Still worth checking them out, I sense that it really depends on the team, day, etc other factors. The team I had was still better than some other moves I've had in the past (and I've moved A LOT - probably around 30 or so times in my lifetime thus far).

They snapped a piano leg on the first move and ruined a 2nd on the subsequent move. The piano's finish is also ruined in five or six additional places, requiring a total refinishing. They also broke a mirror and one of two adjustable dumbbells. If you hire them, get the full-on insurance for total replacement value. You are going to need it.

I needed to move my mother from her home in VA to an assisted living facility in PA on short notice. I wanted this handled as a single day move, but many movers weren't willing to do that kind of work. I found Marco Polo Pro Moving on Yelp and was very impressed by the outstanding reviews, so I gave Boris a call. He quickly gave me a quote by email that was priced well below the other estimates I had received. I left for vacation the next day and was unable to pay a deposit before departing, but Boris was very understanding of my situation and quite flexible in working with me. On moving day, Boris and his brother Andre were terrific. They were on time, extremely polite, fast and very careful. Everything was thoroughly wrapped and handled with care. They packed my mother's belongings well ahead of schedule and were extremely efficient in unloading everything in my mother's new home. Boris offered to take away some of our empty boxes so others could reuse them. Their customer service throughout was amazing. I couldn't have asked for better service. It was hard to believe that all of the glowing Yelp reviews were true, but Boris and his brother absolutely lived up to everything that was written. Marco Polo Pro Moving is the best!! I've used other moving companies in the past but after using Marco Polo Pro Moving I will never use another company. Boris and Matt are very professional. They went above and beyond to make sure the job was done right. I have alot of heavy furniture and I moved out of a 4th floor apartment and into another apartment on the 4th floor. Unfortunately there were no elevators at either location. Boris and Matt never once complained about the stairs and I have alot of heavy furniture. Not only did they handle everything with care they got the job done in 4 hours which is a big deal to me because the job was estimated for 6 hours. These guys are just awesome. I can't even put into words how grateful I am for Boris and Matt. As we all know moving can be very stressful. I mean let's face it when you actually think about it your trusting complete strangers to move everything you own from one place to another. However with Boris and Matt they were more like friends, very friendly and very professional they made the stress of moving go all the way down. I called this company about a small moving job after seeing the other positive reviews and was not disappointed. I called Boris (the owner) on a Sunday late afternoon about moving two really large bookcases (along with the books in them) from the third floor to the bottom floor. Given that it was a Sunday, I wasn't expecting him to pickup but he did. He fit me in the very next day (Monday afternoon after his previously scheduled jobs were complete) and gave me a very reasonable rate. He was very responsive and communicated his status via text before arrival. He and another gentleman (JC) came over and not only moved the books and bookcases but even tried putting the books back in their original order. Both were very polite, friendly, and highly professional throughout the job. They took great care to make sure everything was perfect before they left. I plan to call them again whenever I need moving help. Boris started this company only a couple of months ago and is personally invested in ensuring customers are 100% satisfied and left completely happy. Second time using this company! I was set to move myself back to college for my final year and at the last second my buddy with the pickup truck bailed on me :.....( It was really last second and I needed to get my stuff moved in 4 hours away so I figured I would bite the bullet and hire a moving company. I helped my aunt select Marco Polo for her last move and I figured i'd give them a call since we already had rapport and I had their number saved on my phone. My dilemma started on a Friday around lunch and I only had to make one call to Marco Polo to secure myself manpower and a truck to move my stuff 4 hours away to school in Radford the following day! We left early around 6am Saturday and got there around 10:30 am, it only took the guys (I helped some too) ONE HOUR to move a bunch of stuff and 2 couches up 3 flights of stairs, needless to say I was impressed and wowed yet again! I thought I was going to have to spend a fortune and I ended up paying about half of what I thought I was going to have to pay.... I just finished up a local move with Marco Polo Pro Moving and the two guys (Jonathan and Charles were AWESOME). I had called late on a Friday afternoon in July and Boris answered the phone, already a huge plus. He had a very reasonable quote prepared in 10 minutes and was very specific with the items to be moved, which I appreciated. The move was scheduled for the next Friday, which was perfect for my timeline. The guys were 30 minutes late (their earlier move ran late), but they called to let me know, which was all that mattered to me. My move was a little bit complicated, as I was taking items from my home to another home and then bringing items back to my house. And I had a HUGE, heavy Elliptical Machine, which they moved without any complaints. The mattress & bedspring was a little easier, and they moved the sofa and chair like they were nothing. And they did it all in 85 degree heat and high humidity. And it is such a relief to me to have this taken care of promptly and professionally with no breakage. Wonderful, Wonderful, Wonderful---The crew sent where professional, courteous and prompt. I appreciate everything. They arrived promptly and got to work right away. Moving from Fredericksburg to Falls Church was a hassle in itself, but Abdul, Vince and a third gentlemen made it a little easier. The packed up my home and moved me to new townhouse with ease. While it was hot outside they never stopped. Quick and efficient and I will definitely be calling again for my next move. Boris & his team where amazing to work with. I was still packing when they arrived, and they even went out of their way to help us finish up. They played an amazing game of Tetris to fit everything perfectly & secure in the truck to make sure there was no damages to beloved belongings. They wrapped all of my TV's in moving blankets & provided them their own safe space. They even de constructed our bed frames for us so we wouldn't have to stop packing. The staff was fully functional & competent reading the labels on the box's & making sure they ended up in the right location to save us from that headache. All in all Morco polo was a joy to work with & made our move as stress less as possible. The team did what would've taken me and friends at least a full day if not 2 in an afternoon. We had an excellent experience with Marco Polo. We only had to move one very large piece of furniture from one room to another, but it was a dining room china hutch and it was too tall to just slide across the floor. The piece had to be taken apart (top half lifted off the bottom half) in order to be moved. We contacted them on a Thursday, I think, and we were scheduled for a late-day appointment on the following Saturday, unless they were running late. Boris kept us apprised via text as to how the movers' day was going on the Saturday. Since they were running very late, we opted to have it done the next day (a Sunday). The price was agreed upon before-hand, and there was no variation from the estimate. The movers showed up at a time convenient to us (Boris was very good about asking for input about when was convenient). They were careful with the furniture, the floors, and very professional. The moving experience was excellent. The communication was good. I briefed the movers of important stuff to pay special attention to, and they immediately started moving my stuff exactly the way I care about. Best Movers in Town! Boris and Justin were outstanding. Arrived at the agreed upon time, got right to work and were accommodating when we made last minute changes on where the furniture would eventually end up. They are super-fast, took pains to make sure all of the furniture was protected and loaded up a 2 bedroom apt. (furniture only) in under 3 hours! Then they drove from Alexandria to Washington DC and unloaded all of the furniture. Super reasonable rates, they tell you upfront what the hourly rates and truck fees are, no hidden fees and they are way better than dealing with companies that charge by the truck size. The other guys wanted to charge me the same price for loading half a truck as Marco Polo charged me for a full truck, the truck fee and the mileage was included. This was an outstanding moving experience. How many times has anybody said that??!! Boris was exceptionally easy to work with in all aspects of the move. He helped me plan out the move, asked me for a list of items and then gave me a firm fixed quote and honored it - something I've never had happen in the half dozen moves I've previously suffered through as an adult. Boris and his team and very professional, friendly and good natured. They actually showed us early to the site and worked with me on making some last minute adjustments. I've already been recommending Boris and Marco Polo to friends and relatives in the area. As I tell this story I get this look of stunned disbelief but this guy is an amazing mover! Moving is a breeze with Marco Polo Pro Moving! Boris is very responsive and helpful. Andrej and his crew showed up on time (he even gave us a 30 min heads up when he was on the way). Boris and his crew are the most courteous and professional people we have ever had the pleasure of working with. They quickly, safely, and carefully loaded up the truck. We were too busy that day to come along so we gave Andrej our key. He dropped off everything at our condo, put everything where I had requested then he brought back our key at the end of his work day (30 mins each way)! All I can say is WOW. Boris and his staff greatly alleviated what I consider to be the hardest part of moving and that's lifting all the furniture from the truck into the house. Boris called me the day before to confirm the time and place he was to meet us. His staff arrived on time and we're ready to immediately start moving my belongings. They not only treated each item with care but also patiently received directions to know where to properly place everything within the house. The 26' U-Haul and 4'x8' trailer I had packed full of household goods was completely emptied in less than 3 hours. We found Marco Polo (Boris) through Yelp and Thumbtack. After reading the 50+ reviews on Yelp, we called and he responded within the hour. From that point forward, he maintained his communication with us through the quote process, and while we procrastinated on locking in with them. Once we locked in with them for our move, he continued to keep us in the loop. On the move day, they showed up and hit a home run by getting our entire home moved and set-up at the new house all within a normal work day. Best moving company in the area! Before finding Marco Polo, I called a few other companies that quoted me 3X what Marco Polo quoted. Boris was professional, friendly, and patient with me on the phone. He booked us a 26 foot truck with 3 men to move a 2 bedroom townhouse to a single family home. When the team arrived (early!) they worked quickly and effectively. They wrapped all our furniture which resulted in NOTHING being broken! I couldn't have asked for a better experience! I've never used a better moving company! From the start, the owner Boris was super responsive and straight forward in his communication and pricing. He worked us into his schedule to move our family from a 2BR apartment to our new home in Belle Haven. Justin, Bryan and Abdul made this move stress free - especially for a pregnant mama! They arrived on time, were personable, and efficient every step of the way. We hired Marco Polo Pro Moving a few days ago for our local move. Everything was spectacular as the three movers completed the move in about an hour or even less, than Boris originally quoted, based on our inventory list and location descriptions. Took great care of wrapping our belongings and using mattress bags for our two beds. Price was also cheaper than the two other companies we had contact with. Only tiny drawback was that they ran 10 minutes late, but communicated that with us about 30 minutes prior, which was not a big deal at all. However, it didn't come close to covering the headache or the cost of contractors we'll need to fix the damage. Unfortunately, we cannot recommend this company.
