Robert and his team are by far the best moving company in the DMV. I've used them twice for moves, the most recent on just a couple of weeks notice, and Muscle Men was able to accommodate our move without any issues. The prices are comparable, if not better, than most moving services as well. I asked Robert for boxes the night before and he responded immediately and even bought extra, which I of course needed. Not only are the guys extremely professional, they're also fun to talk to which makes the whole moving process way less stressful! If I could give zero stars, I would. This company is actually a scam operation and not a legitimate moving company. They completely screwed us with our recent move from DC to Virginia despite having been recommend to me by another moving company we had used a couple of times and liked. While they seem legit at first and had arranged for 3 men and a moving truck for us, on the day of the move, a guy with a truck shows up who doesn't even work for their company and tells us he doesn't "do moves." The company couldn't even get their story straight since one customer service person blamed it on a scheduling error however the owner apparently had told the guy with the truck the night before that he couldn't do the job and he lied to me repeatedly saying we were on the schedule and that we would receive our deposit back, which we haven't. They scammed us out of $225 and while we don't expect to get our money back, I just wanted to warn everyone that the owner of the company, Robert Nelson is a complete scam artist and not someone to trust with something as important as moving. Moving is stressful enough and they made our day a living nightmare..not to mention I'm 20 weeks pregnant and have a one-year-old at home so they scammed a young overworked and exhausted mom! On 1/5 They first came to the wrong address, then they spent 8+ hours to move my 3 bedroom house. They broke a lot of belongings and the owner stated on 1/17 that I would be receiving a full refund on 1/31. I emailed consistently, he stated on 2/1 they were in Miami doing a move and would be sending a refund when they were done, I have not received a refund STILL and have been emailing 2 times a day. I even said if you won't be sending the refund, just tell me. Still, nothing. The workers realized the quality of the things they moved and went back to the storage a week later and burglarized it on camera. The young men who are the movers are amazing, so if tip them make sure you don't tip the organization. I used MMM in Fall2020 for a move. I booked my spot and move one month in advance, paid a deposit, snd signed the contract. The week of the Saturday move I emailed to confirm. No response. I emailed again and called the manager, no response on Friday. . The morning of the move I called to confirm and he said yes they're running late from another customer and will be at you soon. Of course they were late because there's more to the store. The young men told me that their boss had told them I had called THAT MORNING at the time of my move to book. He said it was a last minute reservation, so while they were good and patient, the owner/manager has such bad business practices that not only did he lie to me, but he lied to them too. Don't use MMM if you're looking for high quality services. Don't use MMM if you're looking for the company to remember your move, held by contract, and don't use MMM if you want honesty. Under no circumstances would I recommend this moving company. A few notes from my move: - The movers were 30 minutes late - Unbeknownst to me at the outset, the truck was partially full with someone else's belongings. Not only did this require them to make two trips (for which I had to pay) but after the move was complete, I realized that I had someone else's rusty bed frame in my home. - A number of my items were damaged - including a broken couch leg, scratched chairs, scratched tables, scratched consoles. I pointed out these issues to the movers (and shared photos) and to the owner. The owner has refused to refund any money for the damage and asked ME to discard the bed frame (which will require a trip to the dump). Unfortunately at this point the only thing I can do is share this information so you don't have a similar experience. Moving is hard enough on its own. The movers should make the experience easier, not more burdensome. read more

Excellent! Robert & his team were a joy to work with. They were very professional and timely with their quote and arrived 15 minutes before the scheduled time. They were prepared, they came with everything they would need from tools to break down furniture and ample drop cloths to protect the furniture from scrapes. The job took much longer than expected and ran into some into some unexpected hurdles (the loading dock of my building was not at the same level as their truck so they had to walk somethings up the stairs). Heed with caution....Nelson and his men are not trustworthy business people. They damaged my furniture, and refused to reimburse me for the damages. They were extremely sloppy in the handling of my belongs. They complained about moving stuff. Not to mention, they stole my shoes and other belongs. DO NOT USE - BROKE EVERYTHING, STOLE COMPUTER. My roommates and I hired them because they had good reviews and were available on relatively short notice. We were moving from a 3BR apartment in Arlington to a 3BR in DC. They showed up on time at 3PM and got right to work loading up the truck - things were going well. About an hour in we realized it seemed to be taking longer than normal so we started helping them (all 3 of us have moved apartments a few times so we have a pretty good idea of the time it should take). They got pretty rushed at the end because our time was up with the loading dock reservation, so did not wrap up our couch professionally, among some other pieces of furniture. 4.5 hours after they showed up, we were leaving our old place and heading to our new one. We arrived at our new apartment and the lift gate on their truck was broken. They had to unload everything off their truck one by one. Frustrating for everyone. They started bringing things in hastily. A ladder shelf fell off their cart and the legs broke. The aforementioned couch that was not wrapped up has permanent stains from the truck. My bookshelf was all banged up on the bottom. They broke two lamp shades. My headboard is severely damaged. When we pointed these out to them they just said, "Oh... sorry." They didn't even fully put my bed back together and another piece just fell off it today. Also, we had some boxes of food and drinks that went in their truck. A case of Fresca and a bottle of Ketel One vodka were both missing after they left. 11 hours after they arrived (so at 2AM), they were finally done unloading the truck. Since it took way longer than expected, they spoke to their boss and he offered to discount 10%. We ended up talking to their boss on the phone since we didn't believe 10% was sufficient and he knocked it down a little more. We paid them, they left, and we went to bed exhausted. The next day, I tried to turn on my MacBook and it wouldn't turn on. I thought it was weird, so I made a genius bar appt. When I arrived at the genius bar I gave them the serial number and turns out, it's not my laptop. I double checked with my original receipt and the box it came in and sure enough, the serial numbers are different. That's when I remembered one of the movers asked to borrow a charger and brought his computer into our apartment. My laptop was in my backpack in my room the whole time, but left my sight when we were helping them and they were in my bedroom, so they had time alone in the apartment to swap the computers. I immediately called Robert and asked for the names of the people that moved us so I could get this sorted out. He would not give them to me and kept asking why I needed them. I explained the predicament and that I thought maybe it was an accidental swap. He said he would talk to them about it and call me right back. He never did and every time I try to call him back, it goes straight to voicemail. The issue has not been resolved. Robert was Awesome! Great value. The movers arrived on time, were kind, courteous and respectful. My only complaint is one of the movers was an average woman. She was of normal stature and build. She had trouble moving my heavy solid wood master bedroom set down and then up the stairs. I had to help her on the steps for 50% of my furniture. I hired the movers so I wouldn't hurt my back again, but I had to get involved when she was struggling so bad and I didn't want her to get hurt or do damage to my stuff. Afterwards I told Robert that my only problem was that she couldn't do the job and I needed to help. He said he thought I was moving lighter furniture! My mother booked this company after being reccomended by a friend for their outstanding service. Unfortunately that was not the case in our experience. It was a group of 3 men who showed up an hour and a half late and after being in the house for not even 30 minutes one was found helping himself to her refrigerator with his dirty hands in a jar of pickles. I kid you not! Once questioned about it he then asked if he could have some, which we replied take the whole jar. Considering that his dirty hands had ruined it. In any profession who helps themselves to other people's belongings. That's considered stealing! Sadly after this mishap a few hours later I hear the refrigerator close again and find cheese on the floor! I was leery about my long distance move from DC to Atlanta without physically being there but Robert reassured me that he was on top of everything. I pretty much use yelp to find everything which is how I found Muscle Men Movers. Robert not only quoted me hundreds of dollars less than all the other companies I contacted but he also knew what he was doing! I went with another company for a local move and they did not professionally wrap any of my items but Robert and his team were kind enough to re-wrap everything before loading their truck to drive down to Atlanta, I really appreciated that. It also didn't take them several days to move our items like other companies told me. Everything was here in a matter of hours! Once they arrived they had everything moving like a well oiled machine, the move took a max of 5 hours and that included off loading items and putting them back on the truck to take over to storage because they didn't fit in our new place. There were no complaints about anything! Robert answered all 20 of my calls to him everyday lol. Really great team that I would definitely recommend to anyone in need of a moving company! read more
