Their online tool made it easy to get an initial estimate without an in‑home visit, and Dasha (and sometimes Lilith) answered all my questions over the following weeks. A month later, when I was ready for an in‑person assessment, they honored my original quote even though my inventory had changed (many more smaller boxes, one less big piece of furniture). They visited on a Thursday and scheduled pickup for the next Tuesday. A team of three loaded everything in under two hours (right after Winter Storm Fern). I arrived in Seattle on Saturday, and the driver called 15 minutes after I had picked up my keys from the leasing office (I am not kidding). Despite my building having no loading dock, he found a workable spot, unloaded everything, and rebuilt my furniture solo in about 4.5 hours total. It was a pretty simple job (just one bedroom's worth in an elevator building and I did not need any furniture assembly) so they made quick work of it. I used DC movers twice. Not sure what changed in the year in between, but they went from decent and capable to an unreliable scam. They took two full days to accomplish what should have taken one. Did they move our belongings? Yes. After damaging and breaking a significant amount of stuff in the process. They made promises to fix the property damage to the home and made a monitory offer for some of the furniture that was damaged. I was promised they would return within 5-7 days, no more than 10, to fix the damage to the property. But over two weeks later and they never came back and are trying to get out of responsibility. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY if you value your property. If they kept to their agreed terms and came back to fix the damage, this review would have been very different. read more

I hired 3 movers to help me move a bunch of furniture from a 1bd+den apartment into a new 1bd apartment. In my head, I estimated that the whole ordeal would take around 3 hours (all boxes were prepped beforehand, surfaces clear, shelves free - just needed manpower and a truck to move my heavier objects). I was indeed correct! Oleg, Bulat, and William arrived promptly at 8am and immediately got to work on my furniture. Everything was packed into the truck within an hour and a half. Travel time was 15 minutes, and then another hour to unpack everything. Extremely speedy and very well priced! There was no helping some furniture dings as moving will always have some sort of random damage. But all of it was very minimal. This is actually my 2nd time using DC Moving in the past 2 years - I don't like to leave reviews for one-time performances just in case it was a fluke (or mistake, depending). Did a local move with them in winter, just a small residence. Not sure I have ever had a mover I was completely happy with, but I certainly wouldn't use these guys again. They disassembled and reassembled my bedframe; I wound up having to buy a new bed frame because some of the hardware was lost in the move and it wouldn't stay together. They jammed two kitchen pans together so tightly I couldn't get them apart and had to throw them away. They broke a mug and decorative coaster. They slid books into my bookcase so hard that the back of the bookcase came loose. Some of them stopped working at the end of the day before everything was unpacked because they got tired. I wanted to take a moment to write about my amazing experience with DC Moving Inc recently when they helped us relocate apartments from VA to DC. Things from start to finish were very organized and efficient. BEFORE: We had a discovery call before our move to discuss our 2/2 apartment and what all we had to include in our inventory. We went room by room as I explained all our big items as she typed everything out. We were able to get a quote in writing ahead of time, so when the time came to pay on the day of, there were no hidden fees, and we knew exactly what we were getting into. We also discussed that we would need to stop by our storage unit after our new apartment, so we were able to add another stop to our itinerary for the day. DURING: The team arrived on time and handled all our belongings with the utmost care, ensuring everything was securely packed and safely transported. They worked quickly, but never at the expense of quality and they went above and beyond to accommodate any special requests. (We had a few pieces of very fragile furniture, like a solid glass coffee table, that I was nervous about during the move. They made sure to triple wrap it and it made it safely to our new apartment.) You can discuss these types of things ahead of time and they can provide things such as mattress wraps, TV boxes, extra bubble wrap, boxes, etc. Along with wrapping everything carefully, they also were able to help us take some pieces of furniture apart and then put it back together for us at the new place. AFTER: Having them do all the heavy lifting and hard parts, allowed for us to be able to seamlessly unpack and have the rest of the weekend to focus on organizing things. Moving can be stressful, but DC Moving Inc made it smooth and worry free. I highly recommend their services to anyone looking for a reliable and trustworthy moving company!
