My husband found this company via yelp to help us move. I, myself, needed assistance in packing up 3 rooms since my husband is on the road working as a truck driver about 5 days out of the week. The kitchen, the theatre room and my daughters room. Considering the very good reviews they have I didn't hesitate to accept and trust them to be our movers and have them help me pack up some valuable things in my house. However, we had the worst experience with this company. We needed 4 movers and 2 trucks (we have a 6 bedroom house almost 3,000 sq feet) when they showed up there were only 2 guys and one truck which not all of my things fit on. I was told they could not get another truck because all of them were being used at the moment. Not sure how true that was when it should have been in the details of the move when my husband booked them. Only one of the guys, he introduced himself as Mike, had on a Mic moving shirt the other guy (not sure of his name he never introduced himself) did not so I'm not sure if he's even an employee. As soon as they opened the truck doors you could smell the stench of marijuana as if they just smoked before they came and I could tell they were off with the way they looked (smelling of alcohol, eyes very low and bloodshot red). I also saw 2 bottles of alcohol opened in the truck and a cup full of brown liquid, which confirmed they were drinking the alcohol I saw unless it was soda which I doubt. Mind you this was at 9am. I should have canceled the move at that time but we had to be out of that house within 3 days so I had no choice. They did a horrible job at packing things up, they basically just threw things in a box and did not wrap up my breakables in bubble wrap which they had with them. I had very expensive china plates and cups ruined due to this. During the move it was just myself, my daughter and my son. The other guy with Mike was basically useless, he didn't know what to do and he kept asking him should I pack this up, should I take this to he truck? He even dented my walls and scratched my floor from dragging furniture instead of getting help and carrying it to the truck. He also broke the leg on my couch which was a $1,500 couch. My tv is broken as well they had it crunched up in the truck trying to make space for as much stuff as they could. My son watched them in our home theatre room to make sure nothing was stolen because at this time I did not trust 2 guys who were high and basically drunk packing up my things while I was trying to make sure nothing else in my house was being broken by these 2. Obviously my son did not do a great job of watching (he's only 9) them because as I am unpacking, we are missing 3 game controllers and a couple of brand new games that he got for Christmas, the cords to the theatre seats are gone (not sure what they are using those for) my husbands tools are gone as well. There are strong pain medicine that is missing. Then came my daughters room, this was the icing on the cake!! Mind you my daughter is 14 years old. According to my daughter Mike made sexual advances towards her, granted she looks as if she could be in her 20's, he said she was beautiful and asked could he take her out. She said the way he kept looking at her made her very uncomfortable. That is very unprofessional and very appalling to me that workers would act such a way. He even went to the extent of giving my daughter his personal phone number and even texted her saying "this is mike" I can not believe the way these men acted in my house. I did not know of this until after the move so I, myself and my husband both reached out to Mic and have not heard anything back since. I guess he condones this behavior with his employees. My floors are scratched, my walls are dinged there is even a little hole in the bathroom wall which I don't know how that happened or why they were in my upstairs bathroom when I made it clear the bathroom on the main level is the only one they could use. I have other things missing as well antiques from Korea that have sentimental value that I can not replace. I ended up having to get my brother and his friend to get a Uhaul to move the rest of my things to our new house due to the lack of room in the one truck. I did not want to deal with these men any longer. They didn't even put the correct boxes in the right rooms which was more work for me and why even ask me where they go if you aren't going to follow directions? I am horrified by these men and this company. I'm not sure how they have 5 stars. Maybe I just got bad movers but I will never in my life recommend this company to anybody else!!! I'm still waiting for a call from Mic 2 weeks later after calling multiple times and even leaving a review on their Facebook which my review has since been deleted, go figure! Tl:Dr, Mic's Moving stepped up after College Hunks botched my job and in 3 hours did what CH couldn't in 3 days. Professionally moved my stuff, communicated like adults, and showed up on time. Do not use College Hunks. They are an aggregate moving coordination and logistics service that has messed up my moves. Their corporate company has zero control or oversight to the local franchise, and their local franchise has zero care, or professionalism. Friday they were supposed to come bright and early to pack and move me 200 ft across the parking lot to another apartment in my facility. That morning I got a call stating they supposedly they ran out of DOT hours and couldn't come till Sunday. I'm annoyed by this, as it's in no way my responsibility or problem, but I accept the new date still under the impression this is only a 3-4 hour job for a small crew with junk haul away after. Then I find out the junkers (also hunks) got rescheduled to Sunday, though I was assuming they are one crew. They aren't. Junkers arrive after the stated 10:00-12:00 window but arrive, take away my bookshelves and ottoman and I tip them directly. If you're reading this, the junk crew was fine, I have no issues with their work, only that HUNKS failed to inform me it was separate crews. The same guy from the local moving crew dispatch calls at 09:00 telling me they will be there between 10:00 and 12:00 with their "best". I attempt to make light of the situation and ask if they have enough DOT hours remaining, but he acts like he doesn't hear me. 12:45 while the junk crew is here they call barely able to pronounce my name saying they will arrive by 14:00. I'm frustrated it's 2 hours after my arrival window but it's still doable, so I let it go. So 15:00 I called corporate, they did their thousand apologies but couldn't get a hold of the local team, and said they will keep trying and call me back when they got a hold of them. I'm stressed out, and getting tired from moving my own stuff as piecemeal as I can, and now really worried this won't get done. I'm supposed to turn in my keys and go back to work Monday, and can't do either until the move is done. 16:00 I asked friends for alternative movers. Bookstore Movers couldn't do the job but provided a list of their competitors maybe they can help. My partner called them on my behalf cause I was too stressed to really be civil, and Mic's Moving took up the job due out Monday at 09:00, to complete the pack and move, also quoting me nearly 1200$ less than College Hunk. I called back college Hunk's corporate line, since they never called me back either and told them to cancel the job. The operator on the other side was apologetic, and I don't believe in taking out my frustrations on people. They did offer to have the local crew call and apologize, in addition to returning my deposit, but what good would that have done? Mic's Movers showed up on time, 3 person Crew, and knocked out my move in 3 hours, after 3 days of stress and unnecessary confusion. I have used College Hunks through 3 previous moves including an interstate, but the circus of errors that was this move proves to me that I cannot trust my belongings to them anymore. If you're local to DC, use Mic's Moving or Bookstore Movers instead, worth every penny. read more

If I could give them more than 5 stars, I would!!! I found myself in a very stressful situation a few weeks ago and was in a time crunch to move and I needed to find someone ASAP. My brother referred me to Mic's and I cannot thank him enough for it. From my initial phone call to inquire about services, Ezra was super nice and accommodating and was able to squeeze me onto their schedule even on such short notice. He provided me with detailed information about the entire process and their prices, stayed in constant communication to get me ready for the arrival of movers. My move was a two-day process, first day was the packers and second day was the actual move. Oscar and his crew came the first day and they were incredible. He initially called me to let me know they were in route to me and are about 30 min away, upon their arrival he explained the whole process to me and their game plan for the day. They were so incredibly fast and efficient and packed my entire townhouse in about 4 hours!!! They were very careful with my belongings and treated them they were their own, making sure things were wrapped/packed properly and protected. On day 2, Jesus and Thomas came out with their crew. Once again, an amazing experience with them. They called in the morning to let me know they will be arriving in 30 minutes, and upon their arrival they did a walk through with me to see everything that had to be moved. They constantly kept me in the loop and did not hesitate to ask me questions/my preferences when they needed to. Just like the crew from the previous day, they were very careful with my belongings and truly took care of them. Jesus and Thomas were very personable, and their positive energy definitely rubbed off on me and made this incredibly stressful time seem like a total breeze. This is the first moving company EVER, that truly cared about my belongings, both crews made sure everything was fully wrapped and secured properly. Every single moving company I have used in the past has broken/destroyed a numerous amount of my things by the time they were done, and I was stuck with the headache of having to file a claim, BUT NOT THIS TIME!!!! Mic's provides exceptional customer service, open and honest communication and are always on time. I cannot thank the crews enough for all their hard work and making this awful and stressful time feel like such a breeze. You guys are truly amazing!!! This was my first time using a moving company. I combed through all of the yelp reviews and, quite frankly, I thought that the reviews were fake since so many companies had such a predominance of five star reviews. I ended up contacting three places and settled on Mic's because only they could accommodate the date that I wanted. Scheduling was easy, as was following up by both email and phone. The truck was scheduled to arrive between 9 and 9:30. I get a call at 8:30 saying that they were 30 minutes away, and sure enough, they rolled up at 8:55. I had a crew of four, led by Yairtd. From the start, they were professional, fast, and very positive. I was unable to get the best possible on-street parking, but Yairtd said that it was perfect. The entire crew (including Hugo, Ben and Andrew) worked their tails off, frequently carrying four boxes at a time, and sometimes running. They wrapped more furniture than I asked them to. We even had an irate neighbor who claimed to not be able to drive around the truck (there was a ton of room). Instead of arguing, the truck was moved for her with a smile. One bed frame had to be disassembled more than I had already done and the wood slat split a tiny bit when one of the crew was working on it. The wood is junky, and this wasn't a big surprised. I was told immediately and Yairtd said that he didn't want me to be surprised. The job was over and when I was told how much the final bill was, I was shocked. It came in well below the initial estimate (below the low-end estimate!!!). I highly, highly, recommend that you try and schedule Yairtd and his team. When you contact Mic's, I guess you just give his name (when he pronounced his name for me, it sounded like Sayid). When I gave the crew a tip, they did tell me that a yelp review is extremely helpful but I definitely would have written this review anyway, I just would have got some of the names wrong. I've used Mic's Moving twice and can't say enough great things about them! Fortunately, I won't be moving again for a long time -- and definitely hate the packing part of it -- but if I did, I would totally use Mic's Moving a third time! Mic's Moving responded very quickly to our request with a detailed quote and confirmed their pricing/availability. They followed up right away with any questions we had as well. On moving day, the movers arrived so close to the starting time that I wondered if they'd slept outside my apartment in their truck the night before. They were professional and energized for the move, though, so I figured they did not! They called about 15 minutes before arrival and when they arrived, the 3-person crew introduced themselves before getting to work. Brandon was the crew lead and made sure he was clear on whether any items should stay in the apartment and on any rules of the building. I told them that the condo building requires putting up the elevator pads and not propping open any outside doors that they did not have 100% visibility on. I checked up and saw that they had followed those rules diligently. During the move itself, they were careful with everything, using moving blankets and wrap throughout to make sure the furniture did not get damaged. Brandon worked on disassembling anything that couldn't fit through the door while the rest of the team worked quickly with boxes and then furniture. They were careful to save anything valuable or easily movable (TV and bikes) for last so that it wasn't vulnerable. Before leaving my old apartment and before completing the job at my new place, Brandon did a walkthrough with me to make sure they had taken everything that was required and that everything was set up to my satisfaction. All in all, it was an easy, fast and successful move! Everything arrived in the same condition it left despite my lackadaisical packing job. I'd like to give 5 stars to the team at Mic's Moving. My neighbor who had recently moved recommended Mic's Moving. She raved about their professionalism and how smoothly her move went. My move was not an easy move. I needed professionals because I had a very heavy glass table. Since I was moving to a townhouse with 3-floors, the large glass had to be hand-carried out of my house and down stairs then up a flight of stairs to the 2nd floor on my new home. The movers prepped the glass by wrapping the corners with cardboard. It required two men with great strength to carry and lift this piece. It was delivered safely to my new location. Also, I had a L-shaped couch, the long piece had to be dropped over the balcony because it would not fit through the front door. Per their policy they were not responsible for damage caused by non-routine moving maneuvers. I completely understood and agreed to their policy. The men tried first to bring thru the front door. Unable to guide it through because of the dimensions they lifted it over the balcony successfully. The Team Manager, Walter, ensured all men wrapped furniture with drawers so items would not fall out, wrapped wood furniture items with pads for protection. He improvised with special furniture pieces like the glass to prep for transport. His experience and direction made the move go very quickly. The move encompassed 3-locations (current location, storage unit, new home). Team members, JR, Misha and Ismael, were all very polite, hard-working and helpful. At my new home the team took my items to the exact room/location I requested and it was 3-floors and a lot of heavy lifting going up/down stairs. I used Mic's Moving about a month ago and I am very pleased with my experience. This was the first time I've moved without help from my parents (they've moved me at least 4-5 times prior to now) and I was very anxious about the entire process. This was also the first time I've ever had to fund my own move and the idea of spending upwards of $1,000 to move my 1 bedroom apartment was enough to make me reach for my inhaler. Like any good millennial, I took to the internet and researched a TON of local companies. After receiving several quotes, I decided to go with Mic's. I'll be honest and say that I initially picked them because they provided the lowest quote, however, my overall experience was nothing short of excellent. Moving is a very personal experience- at least for me it is. Having "strangers" in both my old and new home, touching my things, etc., is a big deal and I'm happy to say that I felt 100% comfortable with Mic's Moving team. The crew (3 guys- I wish I could remember their names!) were not only friendly and professional, but also very efficient. Even with my apartment's freight elevators malfunctioning, the guys were impressively quick and managed to load the truck without any damage or hiccups. When we arrived at my new condo, they really got into their zone and had the entire truck unloaded in record speed. They even helped me arrange my furniture and assemble my bed. At the end of the day, it wound up costing in the low-to-mid range of their estimated quote, which was awesome and definitely relieved a lot of the stress I had revolving around this process. Best moving company I've used to date! And I have moved a lot in the past 5 years. Walter, Mike, Omar, Andy and (sorry I can't remember the 5th name) were amazing! They were very efficient at taking apart furniture, wrapping and loading the truck. We have a lot of large, heavy furniture and although I'm sure they were all very exhausted by the end of it, they were still very friendly throughout the day! They treated us professionally and were very courteous and kind. They made every effort to help us with unexpected things (like the amount of stuff we had forgotten to pack). One piece of furniture was too big to bring up the stairs of our new townhouse and they figured out a way to bring it up from the balcony!! Walter was very smart at figuring out angles and how to maneuver furniture through tight spaces. They all communicated well with each other to be as efficient as possible. They even loved my dog and were very gracious about him getting in the way sometimes! I have nothing but great things to say about this team and if I ever have to move out of my townhouse, I will definitely be asking for these guys again! I'm not sure if anyone else will be able to figure out how to get my bed frame out besides Walter! These guys worked very hard but what set them apart from other companies I've used in the past was how friendly they were and the fact that they never once complained about anything that came up! So let me start by saying I have moved 4 times since May 2014. From Florida to North Carolina, back to Florida, to Virginia, and within Virginia. I have hired movers every time... and this was my least stressful move so far!! Not only was the team professional, they kept me updated the day of the move, arrived within the 30 minute window they provided me several days earlier, wrapped all of my furniture with care, and got everything out of the old apartment and into the new apartment in THREE HOURS. Not one thing was damaged/scratched. This includes all of my belongings and the surrounding property (hall ways, doors, elevator, loading zone). Omari helped with my booking, and I unfortunately don't remember the 3 guys names, but they were AMAZING. They listened to my concerns and needs, and were super polite. They took extra care when removing my furniture out of my room due to having a frightened cat - for this, I couldn't be more grateful. I found these guys through Yelp after reading what seemed like 100s of reviews. I actually had another moving company booked, but due to their lack of communication I found Mic's Moving about a week before I needed to move and reached out through Yelp for a quote. We even had to add a local move to my long distance move and it was handled the same day with kindness and efficiency. The actual movers themselves are true hard-working professionals. I usually never write reviews, but I felt the need to express the absolute joy and professionalism I experienced with my moving crew. For starters, when the moving day approached, Mike (the crew lead) called and let me know they were on their way to my place. They actually arrived a few minutes earlier than the start time and started prepping their truck. We under estimated the amount of items we needed to move, which requires the to have a bigger truck. Mike did not make a big deal out of it and simply made a few calls to have another bigger truck dropped off. After that, the crew started moving all of our stuff with such speed. They wrapped all of our furniture and made sure none of it got damaged. They moved over 150 boxes without complaining once and one might say they were even smiling! As we moved to the new location and they started to unload, again they showed nothing but respect and professionalism. They had to move all these boxes and furniture through 3 flights of outdoor stairs on an 80-90 degree day. They were able to expertly maneuver some larger pieces of furniture through the winding staircase with nothing but style. I cannot say enough great things about Mic's movers and our crew. I can honestly say that Mic's Moving Company was the best choice my wife and I could have made when moving from our Silver Spring apartment to our house in Germantown. We had never used a moving company before, and we were really impressed with the affordability of Mic's, along with how responsive they were ahead of the move. Our moving day ended up being a very rainy day, and when the crew first arrived, we discovered that the 20 foot truck they provided had a leak in its roof and the entire interior was wet. The movers wasted no time requesting a new truck, and immediately got to work getting our things wrapped up and moved. Our replacement truck was a little smaller than the original truck we ordered, and Mic's provided an additional truck at no extra cost to us to make sure all of our belongings made it. The movers were astonishingly fast. The wrapped everything up, were extremely careful, and all of our belongings made it to the new house without any mishaps. The crew even went the extra mile and placed our large furniture at specific places in the house. They really worked hard, and they were extremely friendly and pleasant the entire time. I used Yelp to try and find a moving company for my upcoming move, and I quickly became frustrated by how difficult it was to get a quote. This was my first big move that required movers, and I was surprised by the endless online forms and calls that went straight to voicemail. Mic's, in contrast, picked up the phone and gave me my quote right away! They were very nice on the phone and easy to schedule. I did, admittedly, run into an issue come moving day, when somehow my move had been marked in their calendar as 'cancelled', causing them to not show up in my allotted time frame. However, though this was a stressful moment, Omari fixed the problem quickly and I had a crew at my house within 30 minutes of the call. Ezra, Chaz, and Alpha came and did a terrific job moving all of my belongings. They had all of my things moved out, driven across town, and moved into my new space within 3 hours. They couldn't have been nicer or more efficient!! My move day was thrown off by this scheduling mistake, so I feel like I can't give 5 stars. But I genuinely believe it was just a mistake, and they handled it professionally so I will still give them 4 stars.
