I just moved to Myrtle Beach from Haymarket Virginia. I want to share my moving experience, because good honest movers are hard to find. I used ARS (American Relocation Systems). They were fantastic. The owner TJ, gave me a price which was very good compared to the competition. They were on time, careful not to damage my furniture or new home, put down floor protection, covered all furniture with blankets and did not ever jack up the price of the move. We had a significant amount of furniture and boxes, both in weight and size, and Andry and Mike were excellent about handling everything and packing carefully into the truck. Their thorough wrapping of fragile items means that not a single thing was ripped or broken at the end of the 6-hour drive. Overall I'm pretty happy with my move (occurred on May 4, 2025). Communication with TJ Lee and team was easy, the movers arrived promptly on schedule, and finished right on time (almost exactly two hours for a 1-bedroom, 750 sq ft apartment move). The movers agreed to partially disassemble my couch even though I didn't put it in the request (they carefully wrapped up the screws so it was easy to reassemble later), and moved some inventory (small tables, chairs) I hadn't put in the request without complaint. The two movers spoke Russian but understood and spoke English well enough that I had no trouble communicating with them. The only reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is that I was charged a $159 "truck fee" to account for the trip to my apartment, according to ARS. That is almost $30 more than an hour of movers' labor, and it's not clear what I paid for: fuel and travel time? The truck fee did not seem to cover any specialized equipment used by the movers (I was actually charged for tape used during the move) and I did not ask for any supplies from ARS. I believe in paying fair rates for labor and understand that moving trucks are hardly fuel efficient and gas isn't cheap. Maybe the "truck fee" is what allows ARS to charge only $120/hour which is lower than most of the competition. But I would have much preferred an itemized bill that would more transparently describe what I was being charged for things outside the actual move. read more

I chose ARS Movers for two reasons: The original company I was going to use never got back to me and ARS was highly recommended by a friend who, like me, moved from one home in Falls Church to another. First off, the communication was fantastic. No stone was left unturned. Or, in my case, no box was left unpacked. Due to the timing of the move, it would take place only a few days after a scheduled trip abroad so I was stressing out about packing. No problem: ARS Movers came one day before the scheduled moved and packed everything that wasn't already packed. It wasn't until I was unpacking that I truly appreciated the care they took in packing up my home; everything was wrapped in packing paper and secured extremely well. When the team arrived at the new home (a fifth floor condo), one of the elevators was out of service but you wouldn't have known it with how quickly everything made it up to my condo. We used ARS movers twice and both times we were super impressed. Our moves from a condo and a storage facility to our townhouse were challenging. We had some very heavy items (e.g. concrete slabs for pool table), and a lot of stuff. The most significant thing to mention is that the townhouse has four levels so a ton of stairs. They quickly provided a fair quote, Mary was incredibly responsive to get details on the move and confirm the price, and TJ called the day before to confirm the details. We ended up with two movers and a 20 ft van. Ivan and Nick were consummate professionals--they were efficient, incredibly affable and got everything from one place to the other in perfect shape. Additionally, while our first location had a large moving dock, our destination is a pre-war building with awkward steps, a required basement entry move-in process and tiny elevator. They were able navigate this much faster (with some very clunky furniture pieces) than we expected and almost still to the estimated moving time.
