Sasha was good to work with from the moment that I requested a quote to the actual move in date. She made the experience one of ease. Also, they have the ability for you to estimate an inventory of your items online as oppose to manual. This is helpful in planning your move. Affordability and accommodating are the main selling points and delineation with this moving company. NewRay accommodated my move which required transporting and moving items from my home as a first stop.......to making an additional stop to an UHaul Storage facility to pick up additional items as part of the move before heading to my final destination. On the move day, the movers arrived during the time window expected and were great. I must admit though, I was a bit frustrated with the size of the truck promised and offered for my move. 2 Star deduction for not offering the truck promised nor communicating /updating me on the change. It almost felt like a bait switch move. The truck was unmarked (no company logo) and too small for the number of items and stops I knew we had to make, but we made it work despite items being crammed in the truck.....not to my satisfaction. Also, we had to carry a number of items in our cars to alleviate over-cramming the truck and/or causing any damage to expensive--special items from my home. Between packing items in our cars and their smaller truck, we were able to handle the move needless to say. The workers most of all deserves a "high-five!" They put up with a lot from me that day and understood my frustration. They were efficient, fast and worked very hard. They were even patient and accommodating to assist in the packing of items, as to I was still packing when they arrived. Upon arrival to my new home, they took great care and attention to moving items into the house and assembling furniture. Everything arrived safely, with an exception of minor scratch and ding to a bed frame and large standing floor vase. In all, the decision to go with NewRay movers was not all bad. Despite the misunderstanding on my expectation of the truck size expected and discussed with Sasha, my move was handled competently. Scheduling was easy and the entire process in all honesty was seamless. Not to mention, the price point (hourly rate) was one of the better rates offered in DMW for my move. Although they do have a 6% credit card surcharge which is bit steep, this is something that was made at least clear upfront. Would I recommend NewRay Moving or use them again? I must be honest, I am on the fence but would consider them as "an option" if there was a need for another move at least due to how nice the workers were and how accommodating they were to our needs.....despite the management and Sasha's mishaps.

I was given a very reasonable flat rate for my move, which included disassembling and reassembling my furniture. Even when I ran into some issues with my NYC apartment building, TJ helped me come up with a few solutions. Also, not only were they early when moving out my stuff in Reston, they completed the job way faster than I expected (I was honestly shocked and impressed). For delivering my boxes and furniture in NYC, they were on time and got everything done in less than the expected time. Extremely thorough and careful with my things. I wasn't able to get the names of the rest of the crew since they were basically locked in from the moment they arrived. I tried my best to just stay out of their way since they're the professionals. TJ and his team completed our recent move - a four-bedroom, four-level home - in under five hours, which was incredibly impressive. If you're moving a larger home (three bedrooms or more), I'd recommend hiring four movers instead of three. So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. We found out pretty last minute that we were going to be moving to Chicago. On top of all the added stress was finding a moving company we could trust. We received a quote for $3400 from another moving company for a full cross-state move. This was way out of our budget give. That we were leaving most of the furniture behind. Instead, we opted to do the good ol' Uhaul way. We needed movers to come help load the truck Friday night since we'd be leaving Saturday morning. I looked into company after company with some concerning reviews about efficiency, speed, and care. Made Movers was the one company that stood out with consistently good reviews, and for good reason! Joseph was super quick to get back to my request for a quote. He gave us a very reasonable hourly price, and was able to accommodate our Friday evening time frame. Joseph was also very responsive on follow-up emails, which I appreciated. On the day of the move Joseph called to let us know they were running 15-20 minutes late. It wasn't a huge amount of time, so I appreciated the heads up. Joseph and his crew arrived and got right to work. Most of our stuff was boxed already, but the furniture needed wrapping. The crew carefully wrapped our furniture with the furniture blankets we picked up from Uhaul. The entire time they worked very efficiently and quickly. Once the work was done, in under 2 hours, there were no hidden costs, nothing in our apartment was scratched or broken (horror stories I read about other companies) and the Uhaul looked ready to go. When we finally got to Chicago we were happy to find not a single piece of furniture was broken or dented, and the movers here were quickly able to unload the truck due to how well it was packed in the first place. Also this is completely unprofessional to disclose your client full name if you do the same to every customer you work with. Finally they told us where they store the cords but the cord that is missing is nowhere to be found and we have to spend more to replace it ourselves. They also scratch one of our chairs which we also have to replace. Original review: They are efficient and at reasonable price but one of them are not respectful to their client at all when I kindly ask them to help me move the message chair from upstairs to downstairs. I indeed made a mistake by not measuring the door size appropriately in advance but later on I kindly asked whether they can help me bring it downstairs and I am more than happy to pay extra. I know it is heavy so I want to pay extra to show my respect to them and they seem pretty nice. However after being thrown at a tantrum we decide to fix this issue ourselves. If you don't want to move you do not have to but no need to throw a tantrum at your client, and I'm not expecting to pay over thousand dollars to be thrown tantrum at. Moving day was made far easier with the best moving team, "Bay, Garcia and Nahun." We were so fortunate to have had their help and muscles. Bay's communication keeping the move on time was outstanding. Upon arriving at the "Public Storage" facility at Seven Corners in Virginia, my daughter and this patient moving team were welcomed by a serious issue not previously disclosed. The elevator was out of service, and the storage unit was on the third floor. The gentleman could have requested a reschedule right then, but no. The BoxStar Super Stars jumped into action. They moved my daughters one-bedroom apartment out of the storage unit and into their truck in record time, including a very heavy sleeper sofa, down three flight of stairs in a narrow stairwell. From the storage unit, they moved her belongings into her house, placing every piece of furniture with expert care. The items were mainly consolidated into main areas, anticipating that it would make it easier for the moving crew to quickly pack and move the items to the trailer. They were here for over 9 hours, packed the truck half full vertically, but filled the 28 foot horizontally. This is something I would expect from college kids who have zero experience as you get charged every foot horizontally you take up in cross country moves. So now, not only are we out $2300 for these movers, we are out an extra 3k because they used twice the amount of space that was actually needed if they had done it correctly. Military and families and federal employees- go anywhere else. This was an absolute disaster.
