Respectful, Friendly, and Efficient!!! Carlos and his team (David and Juan) provided exceptional service during our recent move from Washington, DC to New York, NY. If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely choose Ally Moving. Our Services: Ally moving provided complete packing and loading services (not moving or unloading) for a 1-BR apartment during our recent move on July 11, 2018. To cut down on costs we opted to rent a moving truck from a third party and drive it up to New York and unload it ourselves. Our Experience: Our move was scheduled to begin at 0800 on Wednesday, July 11, 2018 and at 0750 I got a call from Carlos letting me know he was outside with his team and supplies, ready to go! Upon arrival, Carlos walked me through some last-minute paperwork and then team got to work on packing. Throughout the move all members of the Ally Moving Team exhibited professional courtesy and were respectful of our living space. Unfortunately, I had to duck out of the apartment to head to work, but my girlfriend stayed back and oversaw the remainder of the operation. In a few short hours the room was empty and the truck was fully loaded. Carlos even offered to park the truck for us after they finished loading. At the end of the move my girlfriend told me that Carlos and the rest of the team were as friendly and respectful as they were when they walked in the door at 0800. Could not have asked for a better experience. General Comments: For those of you looking to move with Ally, keep in mind that this is not a massive company with large complex systems to manage reservations, estimates, communications, etc. With that said, you should make a point of checking in with Carlos to ensure that you are both on the same page when it comes to date(s), time(s), location(s), cost(s), services, etc. I found that doing a quick call to check in prior to the move to make sure everything was squared away and then follow-up with an email worked perfectly well. read more

Let me preface by saying I absolutely hate moving and typically do not trust moving companies to move my things. However, I had no one to help me with my move this time and am unfortunately unable to move huge pieces of furniture by myself. I contacted Ally on Saturday afternoon after a friend referred them to me. I thought it was unlikely, but I wanted to try to get a 10"x10" storage unit moved that same weekend. Ally said they could do it the next morning (Sunday), which made me extremely happy. They showed up a few minutes early and got to work as soon as I opened the storage unit. I was planning to stay and help but they assured me they had it handled, and in under an hour and a half they had my entire storage unit moved down one story and loaded into their truck. It took them about the same amount of time to unload the contents into my apartment, including placing items in specific locations (ex. boxes marked "bathroom" were placed in the bathroom, and they placed all the furniture in the correct rooms and spots for me). I had much of my furniture covered already, but they went above and beyond and covered every piece I had not already covered. Not only that, but Carlos and his crew were so wonderfully sweet and an absolute joy to be around. A process that would have taken me all day (even with help) took them about 3 hours (including a 30-40 minute drive from the unit to the apartment). This move was the most wonderful experience I have ever had. I will tell every single person I know to use Ally for their moving needs, and I never plan to move in the DC metro area without using them again. I cannot praise Ally Moving enough. Everything about their service was perfect. They are incredibly professional, prompt, and will accommodate your needs! They also have the best prices in the DMV (I compared theirs to about 8 other moving companies). I have paid $300 more with other companies, for half of the results. Ally Moving didn't even require a deposit which is convenient. Carlos and his team arrived about 15 minutes early and began working immediately. I have never seen movers work so quickly. They laid down floor protectors, carefully moved my boxes and bins, wrapped EACH piece of furniture (big or small) with a moving blanket and/or plastic wrap, and made sure not to hit anything while moving it. They disassembled only what was necessary (my bed and a large desk), and reassembled at the new location. They met me at my new location with no issues. Carlos asked me where I would like my furniture in my new location before beginning. Then they laid down floor protectors again and began unloading. Not one piece of furniture had a scratch on it, and not one piece of glass was broken (and I had a lot of glass). Very impressive! They made sure I was satisfied with my service before leaving. The entire process took 4 hours with 3 movers (we travelled to my new location during traffic hours). 4 hours was great timing, considering the traffic and how many belongings I had. Though tipping is not required, they truly deserved it and I gave them each a healthy tip. I highly highly highly recommend using Ally Moving for your next move! You can't do better. This is the first time I've ever written a review. But, I have never received such exceptional service -- and I NEVER expected to have such a positive experience with a moving company. Everything about my experience with Ally Moving deserves a 5+ rating. Getting the estimate is easy and hassle-free. They quoted a fair price. They communicated precise arrival/start times. The 4-man crew showed up on time. They were friendly, attentive. They took VERY GOOD care of my furniture and household goods. They wrapped everything, moved carefully. And, the move was larger than they expected, so it was going to take MUCH longer than the quoted number of hours. The manager, Alejandro, got on the phone with me, communicated with his crew, so he'd know exactly what was going on, and instead of allowing me to pay MUCH more over the estimate, he asked me if I'd be willing to transition to a fixed price for the move. We negotiated the fixed price, which as MORE than fair -- it was generous... He was so concerned about making sure that I had a positive experience. During the negotiations, the crew kept working... They even sent a second crew, at no additional cost to help finish the move. Y'all! This is not my first rodeo. I have moved a LOT in the past 15 years, and I have NEVER walked away feeling like the moving company wasn't shady... The crew was nice, professional, helpful... and THANKED ME when they finished the job. I won't even bother shopping around for my next move. ALLY MOVING is MY moving company. I cannot give this company enough stars! I hired Ally Moving based on their Yelp reviews and I wasn't disappointed. From the first contact, we were impressed with every interaction. The contracting process was easy, the estimate for the work was spot on, they patiently answered our questions leading up to the move, and kept in touch with us by text constantly. We encountered a lot of problems with our logistics on the day of the move, not the least of which was a broken freight elevator, and the Ally team took on every challenge with incredible professionalism and good attitudes. They tackled the entire move with confidence and competence. On the day of the move, the packers arrived first. Jeffrey, Vanessa and Cristian arrived early and immediately went to work. They efficiently packed up our entire 2-bedroom condo in just a couple of hours. Then Alejandro, Rene and Jose showed up to do the actual move. It was pretty clear to them that that our stuff wouldn't fit into one Pod so I had to rent a Uhaul. Then the couch wouldn't go out the door so they had to find a creative way to get out of the condo. Then the freight elevator broke so they had to take the long way to the pod on every trip, so the move extended past when our loading dock closed, so they had to be even more creative. When they finally left around 7 pm I gave the whole team a huge tip because they really saved the day--people, don't forget to tip your movers. They work incredibly hard!! read more

My experience with Ally moving was outstanding. The planning of the move was effective. Carlos made the whole process so easy! and he worked well with me to rearrange the details of the move. The office followed up when it was needed. I was particularly impressed by the people I worked with, The movers were careful and made sure I was happy with how the moving went. They took care of my walls, floors and every single furniture I had in my one bedroom apartment More than that, they were pleasant and aimed to make my move the easiest possible. For reference, we moved within DC, from an apartment to a house. Out of the 5 companies we contacted - they had the most competitive package and one of the highest yelp ratings. We've had some stressful moving experiences in the past but Ally Moving made this one a breeze. They're real pros. Special mention to how communicative they were throughout the process - from the time I reached out for a quote, to messaging confirmations the day before as well as sharing ETA updates the day of. Ally Moving did an amazing job for us! My daughter had a one bedroom apartment move from Washington DC to Philadelphia PA due to a job change. I spoke to several companies. Juan was helpful, informative, personable, and responded quickly to my questions and concerns. I submitted my request, received a quote, and everything operated very smoothly from there! His moving crew was on time, they wrapped furniture carefully, moved boxes quickly and efficiently, were super polite and made the loading end of the move flawless. My daughter's stuff had to be stored for a few days, then moved into her Philadelphia apartment. We had an issue with the apartment building in PA changing our move in time at the last minute; yet Juan made every effort to accommodate us and help during this last minute panic situation! Carlos and his team exceeded my expectations. From the initial call to discuss quotes to the day of the move, Carlos was extremely professional, friendly, and pleasant to work with. After receiving several quotes, I chose Ally because they had the most reasonable prices for the level of service provided. I appreciated the option of an hourly or flat rate. All of my questions were answered via phone and email so I felt comfortable about the process well before the day of the move. On the day of the move, Carlos and his team arrived on time and got started immediately. They were QUICK! and worked hard. We went slightly over the allotted time but I was not concerned.......their level of service was well worth any extra charges. They wrapped ALL items, covered floors, entryways, and disassembled and reassembled furniture. The approach to booking the movers is a no-nonsense one. Easy and efficient. Carlos and 2 other movers showed up at 11:20AM (we'd agreed to start between 11:00 and 12:00PM) They were very professional, courteous, beyond-reproach-cautious with all the furniture (that included 2 full size mirrors and glass furniture). They were quick too! You can tell they have this moving process down to a science. I am totally impressed. They disassembled and reassembled all the furniture, made sure the boxes labeled Living Room went in the LR, and so on. They were gentle with the furniture on the wooden floors (came equipped for that) When everything was done, they went over every item with us for a thorough inspection and get our approval. I appreciate that they asked us to check the truck at the end to make sure it was empty but, really, there was no need as I could see everything was safe, sound, and no MIAs. The whole process was done in 3hours1/2! A breeze, I tell you! I will definitely use Ally Moving again and will recommend the company to everyone I care about... including you. read more

We moved from Arlington to AU Park/DC this past weekend and were very pleased with Ally Moving. The packing service of Jose and Vanessa was terrific, then Jose led the team the next day with Jon and Juan. All of them were very professional, super nice, and easy to work with. I *highly* recommend. They pointed out small dents and dings in our furniture before moving and we found zero damage on the other end. The price overall seemed reasonable. If I had any constructive criticism, it is that the website they use to take in information is not very user-friendly and has a number of glitches. And, while if someone had told me the end price way earlier in the process, I would have said "that seems reasonable," the only pricing info I got made me think it was going to be much cheaper than I had thought. I would recommend they just get someone on the phone with the prospective customer, quickly walk through the details, and give a ballpark estimate verbally. Would be much more useful and would alleviate confusion. Once again, though, I thought Ally was really terrific!! read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND--this company is for real. We used Ally Moving to move from Washington, DC to Virginia. The communication before the move was impeccable and they answered all of my questions without any hesitation. Additionally, they were incredibly flexible with my needs in regards to reserving building loading docks and the timing needed. On the day of the move, I received updates from Ally as to when the moving team would arrive, and got a 1 hour and 5 minute heads up that they were on their way. When the team arrived, they were incredibly easy to work. They followed COVID-19 protocols to a tee, wearing masks at all times and following social distancing guidelines (something that is VERY important to me). The moving team was incredibly friendly and helpful--they even came prepared with their own packing material to ensure that furniture and boxes were protected. They use floor runners to protect floors and padding to protect doorways. They are careful, safe, kind, and clearly have a culture of valuing their customers. I highly recommend! read more

We had a VERY positive experience with Ally moving from the start, they are by far the best moving experience we've ever had! Moving can be exhausting, and they truly made it a much smoother ride. They were upfront about their fair prices and the breakdown of what was included in the total cost from the beginning, and very responsive while allowing you to take the time to reply when suitable for you (without bombarding with messages or phone calls like other companies do). Cristian, Manuel and Vanesa were amazing! 10/10. They reached out in the morning to give us a ETA, were on time, super polite, and respectful. They listened to any requests/instructions. Their work was impressively efficient and careful; they wrapped all our big furniture and moved out our entire 2bdr apartment into our new home (15min away) in under 5 hours. I was amazed by how quick and efficient the move was, and the bits of conversation we exchanged really helped to bring about a pleasant energy despite how hectic and stressful the thought and process of moving can be. The energy felt as if they were family helping me out. They were very careful in wrapping up all items, even things I wouldn't have thought needed the extra protection. Absolutely no complaints. The 3 movers sent to us were beyond nice and efficient. They knew what to do and used their time wisely and worked as a team. Manager Ro Singletary kept in contact and the team arrived exactly as stated. Will definitely use them again Christian and his team moved me from a 3 story to an apartment on 3rd floor. The team were absolute professionals. The team worked diligently the entire time to reduce costs. They finished an hour ahead of the estimate.
