A great experience from beginning to end. We moved 3 years ago and went with another company after getting a quote from Doyle because the other company was slightly less expensive. That was a big mistake. This time I went right to Doyle. You get what you pay for, my friends. Ryan, the owner, was very responsive and we made an appointment to do a video walk-through of our condo. We did the walk-through, he asked a lot of questions and then he promptly sent an estimate. We have a lot of things so it took five guys and two trucks. The crew leader contacted me the day before to confirm the details and they showed up promptly the day of. They were incredibly friendly, fun, and energetic the entire time. And very polite. They treated all of our things very well and didn't have a problem moving any of the weird odds and ends we couldn't find a way to pack. When we arrived they put everything in the new house where we wanted it and even though we could tell they were suffering from the extreme heat and the weight and amount of our things, they never lagged or complained. They put the beds back together quickly and correctly as well as the dining room table. I'd be in hospital if I had to move all my stuff. At the end, the crew leader went over the paperwork, explained all the final charges line-by-line, and took payment. Very professional. We could not be happier. They were a great crew of guys. Do not ever use this company. I do not know how well they move people, but their practices border on harassment. After we listed our home for sale, I started getting incessant texts and phone calls from them at my UNLISTED phone number. When I asked how they got it, I was told it was in the MLS listing! That is an obvious lie and very easy to disprove, and yet they thought I would believe them. I have also gotten multiple pieces of physical junk mail from them. I strongly advise anyone considering Doyle Moving Services to review their contract carefully, as it contains highly predatory and legally questionable clauses for Maryland consumers. Most concerning is the inclusion of a "Confession of Judgment" clause. This aggressive legal tactic attempts to strip consumers of their right to due process in court, and it has been explicitly illegal in Maryland consumer contracts since 2020. Furthermore, their opening paragraph states they "in no event function... as an interstate or intrastate common carrier." This is a massive red flag, as it appears to be a deliberate loophole to dodge the state's mandatory cargo insurance and liability protections that legitimate movers are required to carry. Upon requesting that Doyle strike these clauses from their contract, they refused to do so, because they "do over 1,000 moves a year and send the same contract to every customer we service." Unfortunately, that contract contains illegal and predatory language. read more

Ryan was great to deal with and worked with me right up to the day before the move. Moving day, Chris and Roland were exceptional. All three fellas were delightful to deal with and very professional. I would leave 5 stars for the people and the processing. The downside for me was the 11% fuel surcharge, this item originated during the fuel price explosion and obviously has not gone away here. I tried to negotiate to a smaller rate to no avail. In my profession I deal with contracts daily and everyone has abandoned this charge. This was the only disappointment. Didn't actually do a move with these folks, and by the end of our call I am glad I didn't. Put in for a quote and got a call immediately. Yay. I'm doing a small move but they were upfront about having a 4-hour minimum. They offered a small discount, but it was still too much for what I needed. No harm, no foul, right? Evidently not. Roy wouldn't let me hang up the call even though I tried to politely several times. He would try and offer a bigger and bigger discount, which was still well above what I was looking for (again, for a tiny move!); even though any person who thought this through would understand this is not a good fit and leave it there. But again, dear reader, it wasn't left there. I was firm but polite that it was still too much and I would look elsewhere - thank you - but Roy kept coming back with arguments. I finally told him my previous mover did a much larger move that I needed at the time for the entire amount he was looking to charge me for this tiny move. Roy decided to take it personally and say "well not all local movers are local even though they say they are". No, they were definitely local, but why are we discussing this? And then his final shot was "Well you get what you pay for." ... You know, Roy, I did and I was thrilled. So I will be calling the father-son family operation I used before once I find their number. The quote call left me feeling pretty upset. Imagine if I'd actually agreed to do business with them! Why the confrontation and commentary? Question for Roy --- who hurt you sis? Why you gotta be like that? I'm sorry if me not wanting to pay $700 for someone to move a washer and dryer 2 miles is incredulous to you. Times are hard on everyone. When I called, I immediately spoke with the owner Ryan who was extremely nice and helpful. He was able to do a virtual tour of the house and provide a quality estimate. A crew of five came to our house to move nearly our entire house into storage. Their packing and furniture/box arranging ability was remarkable. This review is for a 2020 move. I, unfortunately, had a really bad experience with this company and hesitated to leave a review for that same reason. However, a friend is currently looking for a moving service using Yelp and was initially considering this company based on the online reviews, and since glowing Yelp reviews had played a role in us recruiting this company as well, I thought to share this experience. They came to our house and gave us an estimate. We selected and paid for the full service that included packing and unpacking. They charged for that service and on the day of delivery, refused to unpack. In the phone conversations with the company, I was told that the estimate "was just an estimate" and since unpacking will take more time than they thought, they will continue to charge beyond what they had already charged if we wanted the unpacking service (that, again, we had already paid for). We had paid a much higher price compared to other estimates from other companies that didn't include the packing/unpacking, exactly for the unpacking service that was ultimately refused. Note that this was after the owner (Ryan) had come to our house in person and visited the stuff that needed to be moved to generate the estimate. In short, we ended up paying for a service that this company refused to provide. read more

What we received was the most unimaginably stressful experience that anyone could ask for. This job was guaranteed to only take 3 hours to complete with 3 men. However, it took these guys 6 hours to move out of a 1 bedroom apartment due to multiple smoke breaks, not having all the supplies for the job and taking personal calls while on the job. I recently fractured my ankle and was left with heavy boxes to lift and maneuver on my own. Really gave myself some anxiety trying to coordinate the delivery of a 500LB safe from various vendors while fitting into our schedule. I went with DMS after reading some of the other reviews. It doesn't matter hired you it was still my belongs and my property in which your company DAMAGED! I didn't get into a "spat" ! Your employee made and inappropriate comment and I checked him. He was upset and began to scream about his years of experience and tried to tell me what I paid a way better moving company to do! He was old enough to be my father and felt the need to scream in my face and make inappropriate comments and I stood up for myself just like I am now! Several of your younger employees politely informed me that they do not mount TVs and curtains and I said okay " I don't know why I was told you guys would" and that I would follow up with the leasing office and I did! All I asked them to do is take it down. In a addition to this you and Roy called me to say you wouldn't unpack and I said I DID NOT WANT YOU TO UNPACK MY STUFF BECAUSE I WAS ALREADY UNCOMFORTABLE WITH YOUR CREW BEING THERE!!!! I only asked for boxes to placed in the correct place WHICH DID NOT HAPPEN! Your company and customer service is terrible! I told you they ruined my belongings and called you and left a voicemail In which you didn't return so don't get up here acting surprised and randomly becoming professional when we both know you and your employees are the farthest from that! And even after you were made aware of the damage you have yet to reach out to me so again. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY THEY ARE EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL! If you are a woman and will be at your property alone BEWARE the men are highly inappropriate and will disrespect you if you let them and Ryan and Roy will not support you when this happens. Our move with Doyle was fantastic. We did it in two parts with storage in between and everything went exactly like Roy said it would. The first move, 6 guys and a truck arrived on time and packed everything we pointed out that needed to be stored so we could show our house to sell. When it came time for the second part of the move, they packed everything and took great care to make sure nothing was damaged. The move out was supposed to take place on a Friday and move in on Saturday, but the guys were so quick that they were able to do both on Friday and still come in under the expected time. After everything was brought into the house, the guys made sure we were ok with where the furniture was placed and moved some things for us. From start to finish, all of the professionals at Doyle Moving Services made my move easy. Ryan came to my apartment to do the estimate and explain what was included in the move. Though the price he quoted was slightly higher than that of another company with a similar reputation, I went with Doyle because of the extras like protecting the floors, shrink-wrapping the soft furnishings, and the loan of wardrobe boxes so I wouldn't have to pack my clothes. I appreciated the calls the day before and day of so that I knew just when the movers would arrive. On moving day, Eric, Tayshaun, and Zach handled everything with ease, professionalism, and a positive attitude. The crew worked at a comfortable but consistent pace and were respectful of the common spaces in the apartment building, making sure not to damage the walls or create too much noise (given that they started at 8 in the morning, I am sure my neighbors appreciated that). With other moving companies, I've felt like there's one mover who is in charge of talking to the customers and the others don't want to talk to me, but I didn't feel that way at all with this crew; everyone was personable and friendly. I don't have the most expensive stuff, but they treated all my possessions with respect and care. Once they packed up the apartment, we headed up the road to my new home. I had to make a stop on the way, so they beat me there. When I arrived they were already unloading onto the porch! I was impressed that they didn't waste any time. I had some issues on moving day with Doyle Moving Services, a small chunk gouged on my nightstand, the "L" part of my L-shaped desk broken, and shelves from a bookshelf inadvertantly left on the truck. They did give me a $35 discount for the nightstand on the spot, but I was more worried about my desk and the shelves. I'm not normally one to complain but they were more expensive than other moving services so I expected better service. I left a voicemail that night and Travis called me back first thing the next morning. We made plans for him to bring the shelves and fix my desk a couple of days later. Travis arrived exactly when he said he would and went not just the extra mile, but the extra five miles to make the situation right. He brought the shelves, fixed my desk, then also put a new desk chair together for me and hauled away about 30 empty, flattened moving boxes. The movers worked hard and we had a lot of furniture to move, but we ended up with over $5000 worth of damage. Our expensive 70 inch UHD tv was ruined because the movers cracked the screen in the corner. We had an antique bed that they cracked off large chunks of wood from the footboard and it had to go to the dump because it couldn't be repaired. The feet on several pieces of furniture and our air hockey unit were cracked, some could not be repaired. The butcher block top on our custom kitchen island was scraped along the ground so the edge is completely ruined and gouged, so was the desk. We didn't see the damage the next day, but as we have been unwrapping and putting the furniture together we continue to fund damage. Also, the cost came in about $1000 over the estimate. If you go with Doyle, be sure to get insurance! read more
