I was moving from Virginia to Kansas, and I contacted Mayflower, I remembered they had done a lot of my parent's military moves. They sent out Gary who was great! He was very attentive to me, and when i texted him to tell him I was not going to be taking as much as I originally thought, they lowered my payment. Dara from VIP was also great, the mover's had somehow lost my parts box with screws for my bed. The day after my furniture was delivered they had a handyman at my apartment measuring, to see if it could be repaired. Tomorrow a week and a half after I moved my claim will be resolved. I was a novice at this because I was young when we moved or not really involved. And other than maybe the packers, who literally packed everything! And some extra items. I am writing a review of a move I did in the summer of 2022. It's taken me a long time to write this because the whole process left me actually fuming. I hired these movers because they were associated with Mayflower, and I read for the best moving experiences hire a big company, like Mayflower. I thought by paying a premium for a brand like Mayflower I would get a low stress experience... NOT. This place is an utter scam. The whole move was ACTUAL HELL. First the estimate was based on a Zoom call. I was moving out of a row home in Baltimore city. I showed the coordinator each room on video and we talked about what furniture would be taken. Ultimately the quoted me around $5,000 for the 1,500 mile trek, and I signed the bid. In the end the total move cost nearly $10,000 because they WOEFULLY underestimated my move, likely on purpose to win the bid. I'm fine paying for my weight, but don't lowball me. I would have sought other estimates if I was told $10k off the bat. On the actual moving day the movers showed up about 8 hour late. They were supposed to come early in the AM and didn't show up to nearly 5 pm. Once they arrived the labor had no idea that this was a whole house move. They were clearly trying to get off for the day, and called their manager to get the moved rescheduled. NO WAY. I needed to be out of the house by tomorrow and on my way to start my job on Monday. I had to FIGHT TOOTH AND NAIL just to get them to follow through with loading the truck. The coordinator was incredibly rude and really tried to force me to move another day. Then came loading. The movers wanted to stop short of loading all my stuff. I said NO WAY. I paid for the WHOLE HOUSE to get loaded. I again had to fight with the loaders and coordinator at VIP to get them to continue loading. They were claiming the load was over the estimate. THE ESTIMATE THEY PROVIDED AND UNDERSHOT. NOT MY FAULT. In the end they got most things loaded, but I had to leave things behind. We ended up fight over each and every box. ACTUAL HELL. Then the delivery. The stuff came INCREDIBLY late. I got $900 back because it took like 40+ days to show up to my new house. When it arrived it had clearly been loaded and unloaded many times and kept in hot storage in the summer. Actual plastic bins HAD MELTED. So many items were damaged. A leg off an expensive midcentury teak table splintered off. A drawer broken on a $2,000 dresser. My bed frame was missing parts and completely broken. SO MANY BOXES OF SHATTERED STUFF, which had been meticulously packed with plenty of bubble wrap. Clearly boxes had been thrown. What did I get for all my broken stuff? Less than $200. I never thought hiring white glove movers would be SO TERRIBLE. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT BOOK. Feels like an utter scam. read more

Absolutely the worst moving experience we've had. Between the two of us we have moved over 30 times in our lives. We are a successful, older, disabled couple and have moved on from cheap "glued sawdust" furniture to solid wood and antiques. We moved many of the most expensive items ourselves, however we could not move the larger items nor the less expensive items. Almost every one of our antiques was damaged. We paid for "full replacement" coverage with the understanding that we would receive full replacement cost for our items. The initial offer was pennies on the dollar with many claims denied even though photos of the items without damage were taken prior to moving and were provided. The reason the claims were either denied or provided reduced valuation was we didn't have receipts or their expert determined the damage was pre-existing. They sent someone out to inspect the damaged items, but apparently the person did not get a good description of our items even though they took and provided many photos. We still don't know if their "expert" was the person they sent out for the inspection, who had two whole years' experience fixing sofas, or if the expert was someone who looked at the photos taken by the sofa repair guy in some far away office. We disputed the valuation on many of the items. EVERY item we disputed was then demanded for salvage. Sounds a whole lot like a reprisal decision to me for demanding the company provide what was paid for. Due to several of our antiques needing rather extensive repairs and the exact items are not easily found we were forced to accept quarters on the dollar or face years in arbitration with our house a mess, because we were unable to move anything from where the company placed them. It has been almost 3 months since the claim for damage to our house was approved and I'm still waiting for our money. The damage to our household goods will cost in the neighborhood of $25k-$30k to fix or replace. Our settlement was just over $10k. I'll hire two drunks and rent a moving truck next time and probably be happier. United Van lines and Mayflower are the same company, just different names. read more

Where to begin. Overpriced compared to other moving services. They provide a quote and say you won't pay any more than the quoted amount but since they grossly overestimate the weight and set an aggressive cap on how much they'll come down, you can be quoted for 10,000 pounds, only move 4,000 pounds, and get a 7% return of your payment. They will say it was in your contract, but the contract is 40 pages. My bad for not scrubbing through that. No solid timings provided. You'll get your stuff when you get your stuff and you better expect to wait. Again the max time is in your contract even if they quote you that it will take 7-10 days. What they mean is it theoretically take that long but since they put your stuff in the warehouse until day 11, you bet your butt it's coming on the last possible day that was "in your contract". And they'll only provide a one-day heads up. So enjoy the journey! They also might lose your stuff at some point on the journey. No worries, you're paying a ton for the insurance. They lost some of our items, including the rails needed for our bed. Since the bed was discontinued we had to buy a new one, but you're not compensated for the value of the item, you get 60 cents per pound of item they lost. They lost our duvet cover--not all that heavy but difficult to buy a new one with the two bucks they're giving us. In total, over a thousand dollars of stuff lost and they're generously compensating us 93. Glad to know that they were unable to move all the objects safely from point A to point B, literally the only thing we hired them for. Some boxes were also packed together shoddily and our box full of photos and things from trips was dumped into the bottom of a box so things were bent and folded. Unprofessional. Last, the customer service is rude. They are responsive but throughout this entire experience, any time we reached out to ask questions or clarify, or ask why furniture wasn't being reassembled, we got a rapid response of "it's in your contract (that our service is allowed to be terrible)". Great, until they then had to back step that because reassembling the furniture was in the contract. Never use this company. If a friend is thinking about using this company, slap them in the face and tell them to stop taking drugs. Only give this company's name to your mortal enemies. They are terrible and managed to move that terrible experience across the country with us better than our own stuff. If 0 stars were an option, I would choose that. Avoid this business! We needed a small storage unit moved a short distance. Two men showed up a hour and a half late and refused to do the move without a extra worker, they said it was much larger than what's on the paperwork. One worker was on the phone for an hour going back and forth with someone trying to arrange for a additional worker to come. While he was on the phone the other worker started quoting me higher prices, he also said that he can get another worker to come but I had to pay him separately. He even tried to sell me a vault to store extra. He even gave me his name and number to contact him if I need one, when this conversation ended I immediately canceled the job! Our move started like any other move. We should have heeded the red flag when the salesman said "don't pay attention to our reviews." The first issue arose when we planned to ship our car through a third-party vendor arranged by VIP Van Lines. We did not hear from the vendor before we had to leave so we ended up driving the car ourselves. Who knows if we will ever get our deposit back. The second issue arose when the truck arrived to pick up our stuff. The driver only took half of our furniture and boxes because VIP Van Lines did not arrange for a big enough truck for all of our stuff. They loaded us on half of a truck and we were told we might get our things within a month and a half or so. We learned that VIP splits loads all the time. The biggest problem I had with all of this is that VIP took no ownership of the issues we encountered, it was always someone else's fault. Stay away! Run away! read more

I used them to move from Washington DC to Austin TX as part of a work relocation assignment. I initially heard about them from a colleague who used them before, and was very happy with his recommendation. They showed up on time for the inspection, the estimate was accurate to the dollar, and everything was delivered on time and in good condition. I had a move organized by Julia from DC to Seattle, with storage in their Maryland storage facility for about a year in between. Julia was great and responsive, but this review is solely about the move and a number of items that were damaged, and how the insurance I paid for is trying to get out of the damage. 1) ~$2k glass coffee table top arrived shattered. I asked if I needed to hold onto the 40 pounds of broken glass in my living room, instead they arranged to haul it away. Insurance is now claiming because it was removed it could not be inspected and so they are not responsible. I still have the base so they could confirm the item but I guess that doesn't matter. Removal of glass as a courtesy or liability is one thing, but removing evidence intentionally could be criminal. 2) I did not put my high end audio equipment on the high value list, so they can only give me $100/pound instead of actual replacement value. That would be close, although they are saying its weight is 73% less than it actually weighs. The claimed weight is closer to what it would weigh on the moon. 3) Tv has some edge bleeding and a thumb print permanently embedded into the LCD. They claim it was packed by me, when it was packed by movers. So zero insurance coverage there. Lies are fun. 4) Parts box lost, which included the tv remotes, TV stand, and bed parts. So the bed assembly took a few days to get the right parts and I tried sleeping on the couch. Those parts ordered by me was not on the settlement. 5) My mattress arrived unsealed, with the mattress cover ripped. Also they clearly stored it incorrectly and is visibly warped and saggy on that side. Insurance said it's fine... Getting an actual mattress inspector is difficult. 6) scratches on every sofa and bed frame 7) Every floor lamp broken 8) Stainless steel Simply Human trash cans heavenly dented. 8) Door damage from the removal of the glass not covered or repaired. 9) Wall damage not covered or repaired. Upon delivery the Seattle delivery guys could not believe the unsealed mattress, packaging of the coffee table and TV, missing parts box, shape of my clothes wardrobes and turntable box... I don't know if that's due to some CYA on the Seattle end or shoddy work on the pickup side in DC. The settlement letter came about 2 months after submission. With my appeal it's back on some stack somewhere. If I don't agree with their decision there it goes to a "3rd party" arbitrator at no expense to the customer. If the arbitrator always gets paid by Mayflower and not the client, guess how I feel this will go. If you're moving locally, try a couple college kids and save some money. If across the country, trust yourself and a u-haul or go with someone else. If you must go with mayflower, set up some nanny cam and video tape the movers packing everything. read more

If you are ever in need of a moving company, don't look any further. From start to finish, everyone involved was spot on. They came out and went through every room and gave me an estimate. In doing my research, I found that most places wanted me to tell them what I had and then gave me a price which was way below the price of VIP. I found out why, these companies give you one price and when they get to the destination, they hold your furniture hostage until you pay more money. Not VIP, they came out, looked at everything and gave me a quote. My move was expensive but it was worth every dime. I honestly felt like a VIP with them. Update based on recurring requests from the company, and the Operations manager This saga went on and on for 3 months, with recurrent phone calls/ faxes and emails to various people within the transport company, and their people in both East and West Coasts, including the manager Was given Restoration Hardware for inventory and damage control. It was finally deemed that my lost furniture was gone for good, and just when things seemed to be settling down, and the Insurance Company (since I'd insured the stuff for 50K) was getting ready to cut the check, the same morning in October, the local storage place found my missing furniture, with a caveat. They would not release it till a storage fee of ~900 was paid. I was put in contact with this company through Mayflower for a move from the DC area to Atlanta. We arranged for a free in-home estimate to occur on a Friday at 1:30 pm. That Friday at approximately 1:45 I called the company because no one had arrived at my home nor had anyone called me. The individual stated something like "oh, uh...someone was supposed to call you to reschedule." I explained to the individual that I needed someone to give me an estimate that day because 1) I had already taken off work and 2) I was busy (out of town) the following week. Our quote was right on, and below others, we picked Mayflower because of their reputation, and have used them in the past for corporate moves. This was a huge move for my husband and I as we were paying for it ourselves! We have moved 6 times to 6 different states..... in 20 years. This was a big deal for us as we were scaling down from a 5 bedroom house that we lived in for 13 years across many states from Maryland to Minnesota where we have a 2 bedroom apartment where we are retiring. VIP Transport helped me move from DC to Brooklyn earlier this month, and they made the process quite painless from start to finish. First, Anthony Booker did a thorough walkthrough of my apartment in DC to assess all the items I'd be moving and provide an accurate quote. He responded to my request for a quote very quickly, which I appreciated since my timeline for the move was pretty tight. Anthony was very friendly and came off as an honest guy--not a salesman who'd bullshit you to close a deal. He explained all the details of pricing, insurance, and logistics, and answered all my questions. He also assured me the company could guarantee a 2-3 day delivery window (which they did; my belongings were loaded on Monday and delivered on Wednesday). He even provided information about reserving parking spaces for the moving truck, which I would not have thought about ahead of time! (Honestly, that was the worst part. No love for you, DDOT.) Once my move was scheduled, Julia Fountain coordinated paperwork and handled all the relevant updates in a timely manner, letting me know what time the crew would arrive on the appointed day, etc. I had several changes to the items I was moving, and she was very responsive to my many emails. Both the loading and delivery teams were great, and there was some overlap between the two. Orlando and Roger worked with me in DC and Brooklyn; it was nice to have familiar faces and feel like there was the continuity in the process of people caring for your things. For both loading and delivery, the crews were extremely punctual, polite, and efficient. They got everything unloaded and into my third floor walk up in Brooklyn (up two very narrow flights of stairs) in just an hour and a half, on a bitterly cold day while maintaining unfailingly pleasant attitudes. All of the paperwork was explained clearly, and they handled inventory very thoroughly to make sure everything was accounted for. I consider five stars an absolutely perfect/outstanding rating, so I deducted one star to reflect a couple very minor problems: - I had the loading crew pack some items: my TV, framed art, lamps, and things that were hanging in the closet. Everything was wrapped carefully, and they even made sure to apply extra tape to boxes I'd packed as needed. The only miscommunication was that the crew didn't have wardrobe boxes for the clothes on hangers, even though I had discussed that with Anthony when he did the initial assessment. Not a big deal, since my delivery window was short. If my clothes had been getting wrinkly in boxes for a longer period of time, I probably would have been more unhappy about this oversight. - After everything was unloaded, I noticed a small chip on the corner of a nightstand, and a small plastic bin was cracked (worth noting, though, that I've had that bin for more than five years and moved it at least twice). Nothing was damaged in a way that warranted submitting a claim, and the crew handled my vintage dresser, with its poor wobbly little legs, with great care. Bottom line: I would absolutely use VIP Transport again and would recommend them to anyone who's moving in the DC area! read more

My husband and I used VIP Transport East Inc. for a move from Washington, DC to the Bay area in California. We absolutely do not recommend that you use this company and recommend that you look on the Better Business Bureau website and seek out other moving companies. We are extremely dissatisfied and frustrated with the customer service, performance and execution, and resulting follow up from this moving company. We have wasted an enormous amount of time and it has been very stressful coordinating the logistics and following up on this move. Among the many complaints we have, we were charged double for the actual versus estimated weight of our goods (e.g. thousands of dollars). The movers were more than four hours late (even though we called the company repeatedly and politely requested updates) and did not have the proper vehicle, even though we had paid more than $100 for parking permits. We were forced to pay for an extra night with our landlord and at a hotel to re-arrange this entire move schedule, and then were charged, unauthorized, on our credit card for the mistake made by the company. It has been over a month and a half, and we have not heard back from the company to resolve this poor performance. I'd add that you should not pay for moving companies to ship your TV or mattresses. Go to Home Depot or search on Craigslist and buy the TV box for less than $25 and buy plastic mattress bags covers because this company will charge you hundreds of dollars to do this service. read more

This was my first long distance move from the east coast to the west coast. I called VIP Transport and my representative, Gary, arrived at my home in less than 48 hours. He came the exact appointment time. Gary is extremely knowledgeable, professional, courteous. He explained in depth my moving process, cost estimate, timeline and answered all of my questions at that appointed time and any other time I contacted him. Gary is exceptional and always enthusiastic in every manner. He ROCKS !! Dara was my move coordinator. Believe me - she coordinated !! Dara astounded me, she produced magic. She was courteous, professional, and extremely knowledgeable in her coordinating activities. She ROCKS !! East Coast moving day - My movers arrived early, they were professional, courteous, knowledgeable and completed my moved in a timely manner. I chose to box my items. But my furniture was delicately wrapped and carefully removed. They were beyond professional; I was amazed !!! Each item was tagged for an exact inventory. My items were transported across the USA within the designated timeline. West Coast Delivery day - Again, my movers arrived early. They delivered all of my boxes and furniture in a timely manner. The only items that needed setting up were my bed frame, TV, and my 27" computer. The movers delicately and precisely placed my items in the designated areas. They were courteous, knowledgeable and professional. Each of the tagged inventory item was checked off during delivery. An exact match. No errors, no problems!! First let me say I was impressed with the pre-move experience, but that was about it. I received an email telling me that the movers would be at my old apartment at 7:30 am. I made arrangements to be up and at the apartment by 6:15. At 7:30 no movers; at around 7:50, I called Julia, with no answer, so I left a message. Within minutes I receive a call from the crew telling me that they would be there by 8:15. They finally arrived at 8:30, an hour late, and charged the time from 7:00 to 8:30 as travel time. They did not cover the large items before placing them on the cart to take to the truck, but for the most part the items packed in my kitchen and desk area were PA ked well. Not so much for my bedroom, as light bulbs were just placed in a box loose, which were shards of glass at the time they were unpacked. Boxes were not labled, and my box springs were dragged around without covers on them. The mattress was a king, but they didn't bring the right size mattress cover, so it was thrown on the truck. As I have unpacked, I was looking for a lamp shade for a lamp my father had made. I found the lamp shade crushed in a box with no wrapping or padding. Long story short, I will never recommend this company to anyone. They even made it a point to tell me to place a review on Yelp, so I have. I will attach a photo of the lamp shade. read more

I call the United Van Lines national number 1-877-740-3040 and they told me to call VIP to speak with "Beth". I spoke with Beth and she first said she would call me back after she figured out what was going on. After 1/2 hr. she had still not called me back. I called her again and then she told me that they were not were coming and in fact nor would they be able to provide this move. She told me to call United and when I told her that United had said to call her, she said there was nothing they could do for me. I used them to move home to California. I was very pleased with the service I received -- and the cost was much less than other movers. I was exceptionally worried about the move because I didn't do a good enough job of packing fragile and high value items. Anyone with access to my shipment could have easily taken thousands of dollars of items packaged in clear plastic boxes -- my bad for not doing a better job of disguising things by packing everything in cardboard boxes. Julia fountain was exceptionally responsive, kind and patient with me. All things considered I believe that I had few problems. The truck broke down outside Sacramento, delaying delivery by several days -- but I was kept up to date. Also the person who did the initial estimate failed to pass along to hq that several boxes would need to be repackaged for shipment. When the movers showed up they didn't have the right supplies nor the time to repackage things in an appropriate way. Fortunately only a few things were broken. You could easily avoid this problem by being more clear -- and clear you must be -- about items that need to be repackaged before shipping. You may consider taking photos during the estimate of items to be repackaged and including those photos with any correspondence you have with Vip. You might also make sure that they load your items directly onto the truck that is going to your final destination. I was told on my move date that things were going to be picked up, held in their storage warehouse, and then moved onto the cross-country truck. I nearly lost my mind knowing that my stuff was going to be moved at least one more time and possibly stored in a vacant warehouse for days/weeks before it could get on a trip to California. I also wasn't given any documentation about high value items during shipment until after everything was on the truck -- I recommend addressing this issue prior to loading the truck. Overall I would use them again and I remain most grateful to Julia fountain for her excellent work on my behalf. I hope she gets a raise! read more

In my opinion, you should absolutely NOT use this company. They have been one disappointment after another. Our furniture delivery was supposed to be last Friday. The "window" extended ot today. No chance of delivery today. My wife and I exhausted 10 days of vacation waiting for our delivery. The tractor allegedly broke down in Richmond. Why our furniture is in Richmond is beyond me. Richmond is NOT on the route between Baltimore and Florence, AL. So, in the entire network of VIP and United Van Lines, they have not been able to find another tractor for a WEEK!! I call B.S. VIP set up my move from MD to CA with Mayflower. Everything went great. I only gave 3 stars because VIP recommended the Car Carrier for my car, which sucked. I used the Car Carrier to send my car from MD to CA because Mayflower (my moving company) recommended them. They were expensive at $1192, but I thought that because Mayflower recommended them it would be worth it. I have a less than 1 year old SMART car (no discount on the little car). My car was picked up the same day as my house items were picked up from Mayflower. The man who got my car said that it would arrive in 4 days, which was much shorter than the time my house items were set to arrive. The man said it would cost $100 to store my car, until we could pick it up. He also said that if he didn't take the car right then, we would charged for him coming out. I would have said good luck getting that money and gotten a new car transport service, but my husband was with the man and so off went my car. We arrived to pick up the car at a low end garage (not the place I'd expect my car to be for $1200 shipping). It was outside and covered in dust. I opened it and noticed a terrible smell. When I got inside, it smelled like homeless person had been living in it. I made a joke to my husband and started to drive home. While driving home, I noticed black spots on my tan interior. It looked like someone had been lying in my car and gotten boot marks all over it. Both seats and the doors were dirty. I arrived home in tears. I had just spend $1300 for my new car to arrive stinking and dirty. I realize the men who drove the car truck made it across country in 4 days, but what were they doing in my car to make it so smelly and get foot prints on the seats. FOR OVER $1OOO COULD THEY NOT AFFORD A TOWEL TO PUT ON THE SEAT? It's not been a month of me calling and trying to get a partial refund for the stains on seats that will not come out. The smell is gone, but it lingered for several days, which makes me wonder how long someone who hadn't showered in days was sitting in my new car. I would be very cautious to use VPI Transport East, Inc DBA Mayflower Transit and would NOT use them again. The moved us from DC to Charlotte and lost over a few thousand dollars worth of personal items. The only item they offered to reimburse us for is a trash can that they valued at $9.00. We moved over eight months ago and still haven't seen the reimbursement check. I would never recommend this agency. I became worried when the truck that showed up the first day required more than one parking space for the moving boxes. In DC that requires a permit. Once they showed up, I discovered that the next day a semi- tractor trailer was scheduled to pick up my HHG. It is against the law to park a semi on the residential streets of DC and I had told the estimator that. Next came packing day with a truck too small to hold my HHG so the remaining items had to be strapped to the back of the truck. Upon delivery in TX, multiple items were smashed, legs broken off chairs that were strong and solid when packed. I heard a loud crash when they were unpacking my HHG from the truck. I was told it wasn't my things and not to worry. Then they proceeded to bring I the broken items. This was a nightmare from the start. Do not trust your precious items to this moving company. They did not reimburse the repair amount despite their negligence in caring for my times, some of which were family heirlooms. read more

I just purchased a few items from a prestige auction house in New York . Problem is- I live in Maryland . As proud as I was for purchasing such great art work- I realized- how am I going to get this to my house? I work all the time, and have no time to driver all the way up there, and hope I don't hit too many speed bumps on the way back. so I called back the auction house, and asked them what I should do. We used Mayflower to move from the Baltimore/DC area down to Louisiana. Communication was easy and quick. Packing was great. Everything was documented and accounted for and no damage at all. When they arrived with the truck to unload our items into storage, inventory was thorough and loaded into the unit with care. They kept in communication to say when delivery was going to take place. Our driver was extremely efficient managing the loading and unloading crew, and all of our belongings arrived timely and without any damages. Well I'm not sure where to begin, My friend has been working with this company for 20 yrs as a broker!! So I got a good break on my move. Sept 16th 2016 the company came and packed 3/4 of my stuff I had packed the other took them a few hrs to pack.. They left then the next day I closed. About a wk later I receive a message from the new owners stuff was still in kitchen cabinets. Ok no big deal, Then it happened again this time they were 2 metal frames who knows to what.. I finally got my stuff on June 23rd and what a mess that was.. Had the worst experience, They broke my electric chair either from the warehouse or to the warehouse , they chipped and scratched my 2 yr old bedroom set from Marlo furniture on dresser, bed on all 4 corners.. They scratched and chipped another bed and missing pieces so they can't put the bed together for now. They broke the dresser to this bed.They broke my electric chair that was a 3 piece match and lastly they chipped off a whole corner of a night stand!!! Just today 8/14/2017 a guy came and fixed the scratches on my bedroom set from Marlo great job done.. The other room is still a mess till who knows when! Another thing that is wrong is that they only give you minimal ins so which in turns they will only give you 60 cents per pound and my broker told me nothing about adding better ins, but if you want more the guy today told me it's a lot more monthly. These movers don't give a crap moving your stuff because they get paid anyways and they are covered under ins for damaging property!!! I will never use them again.. Gary was my first interaction with VIP, he came out to give me a biding quote. He was a pleasure to work with and worked with me on getting me the best quote he could. Was in the same ballpark as others I got. He then moved me over to Sue, my move Coordinator. She helped me from beginning to end on my move. To include getting me Boxes to use for my move, scheduling my move and following up with me. The Packing team from VIP came out on my move day and was on time. I had 4 guys to pack the truck. I did most of my own packing but for my TV, Kitchen and Pictures. Kitchen items were packed great. Found out when my stuff arrived and I thought I was missing 2 of my bigger pictures, after hunting for them, we found them in the TV box. They loaded up my TV, took off the stand put it into that same box as well as other items. These were supposed to be packed separately. Luckily, nothing broken. My biggest issue was with the Unloading crew. They took frequent breaks of 30 minutes, I think 5 in all. first one was 30 minutes after they arrived at my new house (an hour later then originally told, yes they called first to say they were running late.) While they were working, they did a good job. Damage to items was minimal. Driver told me, some of these items were damaged when they were picked up at the Origin and he noted it when he inspected the load at VIP, before taking it. But nothing too major, a few things scratched or dented. All expensive stuff was just fine. NO ITEMS LOST. Driver gave me a Bingo card to mark off boxes as they offloaded them, I made sure I checked off each and every box. (Seems lots of people don't. Was contacted to see if I had anything missing as someone else on the same truck was missing a few boxes, but didn't use the Bingo card to make sure they had everything.) Best part, my weight came in under the Binding quote price, so I got a refund back.. While it was not a perfect move, it could have been way worse read more

Our move from MD to AL couldn't have gone better. I packed my HHGs myself, and used VIP (found them through Mayflower, but our driver was with United-- they are the same company now) to load the truck, drive my stuff down to AL, and unload here. The price they quoted me was the final price-- no games at all. Very competitive price, as I had gotten several estimates. The driver was fabulous. He unloaded all of my household goods by himself in less time than my husband's crew of five men took (his goods came from Texas). Nothing broke. Nothing was missing. No damage to either house. Also, goods were picked up Friday morning and arrived the next day at 6 pm... we were worried he'd beat us down, but we ended up at our new house around the same time. read more

And she's so nice to speak with - very friendly The packing team was very good. They packed everything very well. The only complaint I had was the labeling of the boxes in some cases wasn't always correct. That just happened with a few boxes. Matt, the driver, was outstanding - he communicated well with me. The loading of the truck was good (the walls in the house I was leaving got dinged up but VIP took care of the damage), the guys who unloaded the truck were really good, very pleasant and fast. My husband and I decided to live out our dream and move from Baltimore to Colorado. I had never moved more than 60 miles in any direction so I was very concerned about cost and dependability. Every step of the process VIP exceeded my expectations. Gary was friendly and thorough in explaining everything to me and was always available to answer my millions of questions. Dara kept me up to date on boxes, paperwork, and driver information which made everything less stressful for me. She provided free boxes and tape which was a bonus. And my driver Bob was awesome. I trusted him immediately, he took great care in loading all of my things, and again exceeded my expectations. He was on time for both pick up and delivery. I signed up with Mayflower/VIP 3 months in advance. The representative came out to my home and I asked to have electronics, clothes, lamps and mirrors packed by them. I said I would pack the rest. The rep came back out a week in advance and I got an updated estimate.The rep promised me everything would go great and they would take very good care of us. Everything went fine until the morning of the move. The movers showed up at my house and the first thing they asked was "where are the packers for your electronics, clothes, lamps and mirrors?". The dispatcher had indicated on paper to the movers that separate people would be there to pack. The movers called the dispatcher and she said-- I made a mistake, you have to pack, but the movers did not have any materials to pack with and neither did I because my contract was for them to pack these items. So the dispatcher said "we will send out packers tomorrow". I said "we are leaving the state as soon as the moving van is full because we cannot stay here tonight-- that won't work!" So she never called back and let us worry about it. Finally 3 hours later I called the dispatcher back and they said she was out to lunch and we would have to figure it out ourselves. We used blankets, pillows, etc to pack. The movers were very nice, but it was super stressful because we weren't sure things wouldn't get ruined. We even had to pack all our clothes in blankets. Now-- 4 weeks after the items were delivered to Colorado, I have spent hours trying to get a refund for the packing portion of the move because that amount was included in the amount they charged my credit card.. The rep and dispatcher ignored my calls and finally gave me a name of someone in California to call on my own. I got a credit yesterday for $194 on a move of over $6000. I will not use them again. read more

I I used these guys for my move from Washignton DC to Dallas-Fort Worth. I was a little skeptical. Expected delays and was pretty doubtful of the whole experience. However, everything went very smoothly. 4 people came over at the expected time with the right amount of boxes and all needed things. worked round the clock and packing for my 1 bed room appartment was done within 5-6 hrs. They showed me each carton and marked the items with me appropriately. I even shipped my motorcycle with my things and they had it properly belted and wrapped in blankets. I got my things on the other end in texas on the suggested dates. two guys came with the truck and everything except two items were in exact shaped when they left my appartment in DC. the two items were my dresser and lamp - they had broken beyond use. The only reason these two got affected was because they were not wrapped properly in DC and that is partly my fault because I realized it but got lazy to do anything about it - Note - you have to stand on top of the people and point out everything and really supervise them when they are packing, loading and unloading if you want everything to go perfectly. Anyways, I spoke to the driver. we wrote down the details of the damage. I contacted the claims department and within 2 weeks I received full payment for my loss. I was expecting immense delay and argument over who broke what but it was really easy and simple and caused no anxiety at all. The only reason i am giving 4 starts and not 5 is because my things broke and because I had to supervise a great deal for things to go smoothly. In any case, this is as good as it gets if you are moving between states. I would recommend these guys and in particular Julia Fountain, my to go person - the move coordinator.
