My friend and I live in the same complex and moving to another unit across the parking lot. So, we need her place and my place moved into one space. We have packed everyone up and though we were ready to go. They called me to confirm my move today and spoke with Chris. We went over the items and then the price. He even threw in a free kitchen packing kit and said the guys would help. Cool. He also gave me discount and I was happy. Kion calls me an hour later asking me to confirm the move. What? I spoke to Chris. We go over things and he tells me we are good to go. I am emailed a confirmation and then see a different price. I call back and speak to him again and he says, oh, that is an estimate but we would be done before that price. Then, I get a call from Mike. He wants to confirm my move and inventory. What the heck? He says his notes are confusing so he wants to check. We go over things, AGAIN. He then tells me that it sounds like more work so, he is going to send 5 guys instead of the original 2 guys and a truck because it's gonna be a big job and that it would take 9-12 hours and double the price that I was told. Umm, what? For a 2 bedroom apartment?? He tells me I can speak to his general manager, Kion. I literally confirmed with him before! I literally start crying because I am already stressed from preparing to move in a timely manner before the 31st. Kion and I speak again and he won't even let me get a word in and trying to say that the numbers Mike estimated are correct and that there is no way it wouldn't be a full day job. I cancelled, he says he will return my deposit and then transfers me to customer care where the guys asks me what can he help me with? You tell me, sir. He hears me out and says he need to speak with Kion to get his perspective and will call back. No one has called. Lesson learned to NEVER USE THIS COMPANY.

I booked my move a week in advance and paid a $100 deposit after being told it would guarantee my moving date and secure my spot. Then, only 3 days before my scheduled move, the manager -- I believe his name was David -- called to tell me they were fully booked for the entire week and that my move would either need to be rescheduled or canceled altogether. I made it very clear from the beginning that my apartment lease ends on the 31st and that I needed to move before then. Had this company been honest about the fact that paying a deposit did not actually guarantee service, I would have hired another moving company much earlier. Now I'm left scrambling at the last minute, despite having everything planned out. I also have to report to work in another state on the 1st, so this has created a major inconvenience and unnecessary stress. To make matters worse, speaking with them on the phone was a complete disaster. The communication was unprofessional, disorganized, and unacceptable. They agreed to refund the $100 deposit, but that does not make up for the inconvenience, stress, and potential consequences this situation may cause me. If I receive penalties from my landlord for a late move-out or face any employment-related consequences because of this company's failure to honor their commitment, I will absolutely be exploring all possible legal and consumer protection options.

They were flexible with us as we had to reschedule due to weather, and had several complicated moves that were handled very well. As with any move, we took care ourselves to wrap things, communicate our needs and expectations, but I would do that with any mover. Ask questions, clarify and explain what you want. All furniture was wrapped carefully with moving blankets and secured and all breakables were treated with care. I've never seen a team of people work so hard!

But then after putting in our claim on damages with ample proof of damages, and also our honest review, my wife received a call from one of the movers asking us to take down the poor review because they would get in trouble with the owners. Now I'm wondering goes on behind the scenes because the good reviews seems much more shady now. How many other reviews got asked to be taken down? They got the move done and did it relatively quick given the difficulty. The price was rather high given the quality of work completed. And given how quick they were to request us to take a poor review down to me deserves an even poorer review. We had a dedicated elevator, yet workers often brought items down only one or two at a time. I also saw team members on their phones or standing around in rooms and hallways instead of actively moving things. These delays added up quickly. The crew also misplaced parts of our bed frame, and the pieces had to be found before it could be reassembled. That alone added nearly an hour to the move. Because the move took much longer than expected, the final cost was significantly higher than the estimate we received. We were also charged based on an arrival time that was recorded as ten minutes earlier than when the crew actually arrived. The team was courteous, but given the inefficiency, added time, and higher final price, we would not use Bookstore Movers again. That was a big mistake. This time I went right to Doyle. You get what you pay for, my friends. Ryan, the owner, was very responsive and we made an appointment to do a video walk-through of our condo. We did the walk-through, he asked a lot of questions and then he promptly sent an estimate. We have a lot of things so it took five guys and two trucks. The crew leader contacted me the day before to confirm the details and they showed up promptly the day of. They were incredibly friendly, fun, and energetic the entire time. And very polite. They treated all of our things very well and didn't have a problem moving any of the weird odds and ends we couldn't find a way to pack. When we arrived they put everything in the new house where we wanted it and even though we could tell they were suffering from the extreme heat and the weight and amount of our things, they never lagged or complained. They put the beds back together quickly and correctly as well as the dining room table. I'd be in hospital if I had to move all my stuff. At the end, the crew leader went over the paperwork, explained all the final charges line-by-line, and took payment. Very professional. We could not be happier. They were a great crew of guys. Day of the move the team was late and I didn't receive communication. It also took 10 hours to move a 3 bedroom 2200 sq house to a 1600 sq foot townhome and we had to leave a number of items in the original home that I had to go back to retrieve on my own. I asked for patio furniture and a grill to be added day of (1 table, 6 stackable chairs, 2 wicker chairs with ottoman's) and am unsure if this contributed to the increased time of the move (the estimate I was given was for 7 hours). I was told dismantling the beds could be easily handled by the team, I mentioned I could handle them but didn't get to it in time so they dismantled them but then the screws were lost to one bed and they refused to put the other two children's beds together (citing liability which I was not informed of). I was left with multiple broken items (the leg and attachment of my dresser completely broke off, both my children's dresser legs were broken, there was a hefty chip on a buffet table, a plastic storage bin was broken, and my suede ottoman was covered in water after being placed near patio furniture. Freshly painted walls are now scuffed and several doorframes have dents/dings following completion of the move. It has been several weeks- I contacted the owner with photos of my broken items and was immediately told he would be happy to fix/replace things and asked for item numbers which I provided. Since then- nothing has been done and I assume nothing by will be done.
