I must say that I was in a crunch and was able to call and get scheduled the next day to move a piece of furniture. Customer service was polite and the pricing was great. Day of, there is some work to do. I was confirmed that morning of the move to be on location by a specific time. Well as I waited I was informed of logistical issues with the driver. Honestly, when dealing with people that are taking off work to be present during delivery, and the service they are paying for is late, it's such a frustrating situation. Nonetheless, this shifted everything about 40 minutes behind schedule and they still were able to complete the job. The guys were apologetic and I got my furniture. Would i come back for service? The worst move I've ever experienced. The owner quoted me one price and tacked on an extra $500 because he brought the wrong size truck which resulted in a longer move time. So, as follow-up to FOCUS MOVERS' abysmal performance this past weekend, I have found a furniture repair service in Owings Mills to come out to repair my bedroom dresser so that I can use it again. Yes, because of a poorly trained moving team led by a team leader, Kevin, who DOESN'T know how to communicate in a professional manner. I cannot STRESS how poorly this company performs given that I have received NO FOLLOW-UP from management. I am a new transplant to Maryland from Texas AND I would NEVER steer you wrong. Do not recommend, find another moving company. I had a similar experience as another person who posted - The truck that was brought for my move was too small, which resulted in a longer move time and a higher cost than what was quoted. Additionally, you were supposed to be notified 30 minutes in advance of arrival, because that starts the $ time clock, and I was called as they arrived. Finally, there are marks, dents, scuffs all along the stairwell and upstairs walls from how the furniture was brought into the house. At first, I was happy to support local small business, but in the end extremely disappointed because I was left with a frustrating moving experience, damaged walls and a high bill. read more

Please do not be fooled by focus movers website or pictures. Focus movers is completely UNPROFESSIONAL, LAZY, and UNSKILLED. First of all they did not call my family to confirm the moving appointment we had to contact them; nor did they bring adequate tools or supplies, on top of which they showed up late and appeared uninterested and disoriented. When they did finally get started, one guy did most of the work but the worst part is that they did not cover or package any of our furniture and as a result, several pieces of the furniture was damaged and pieces to other furniture was missing, (which we did not discover until after they had left) and not everything was reassembled back together and what was reassembled was put back together improperly . As a result of their unprofessionalism more money has to be spent to repair new furniture that Focus Movers damaged. The movers refused to use our moving blankets and several pieces were scratched. They broke a recliner and I am hoping they will take responsibility for it. Their packing skills were horrible and they almost couldn't fit everything in the truck. Our truck was very large for a small home. read more

Everything was done in one load. Between loading, city to county trek and unloading to new house, they finished within the 3 hour time frame. David was very professional, and made me less nervous about the whole moving process. My only issue was the other 2 guys kept bypassing items to take to the truck. I went in a few times and had to point out things right in front of them that I had pointed out previously. Overall this is the place to go for me. first call and impression was very good. the guys were super nice and friendly, but turned up nearly an hour late after the arrival window. no biggie so far. they began moving quick but slowed down as they worked, taking phone breaks and smoke breaks in the truck with our stuff. the whole move 2 miles down the road from a small apartment ended up taking close to 6 hours with both my boyfriend and i helping. and in the end we never received a receipt for our payment. it all seemed slow and unprofessional. if you're looking for quite and efficient this isn't the company for you, but they did the job ! read more

I was pretty disappointed in this service. The two movers that we had were cordial and certainly attempted to be professional, but in the end, we ended up having to add another hour to our initial quote and we still had to go back to finish moving our things out of the storage unit that they were supposed to do. The movers showed up to the job promptly, but immediately let us know that they had zero details about the job that they were supposed to be performing nor did they bring any of the supplies (dollies, furniture pads, etc.) that they said they would have. They definitely didn't pack the truck efficiently or in a way to conserve space. There was a but of cursing and swearing while they were moving some of the heavier items. One of the movers had to take frequent breaks which really slowed the job down. I felt for the guys, I really did. However, we hired them to do a job and it didn't get completed. This company is definitely the "budget" option and you definitely get what you pay for. I called the company to let them know about our disappointing experience and they said they would follow up. Punctuality This company is a SCAM!! I have moved several times using movers, and this by far was the WORSR most STRESSFUL experience. They charge by the hour ( and give you an estimated time) and then show up LATE. They then have the nerve, to stop for breaks, and take their time, and take the longest route to your new place " because we can't go the quickest way". All in all, I spent OVER $1050 for a packed and ready to go 1 bedroom apartment. They are just set out to eat as much money as they can. They only took 2.5 hours to disassemble, pack the truck, and assemble furniture into my new place. The workers do a great job and only requested water on a pretty hot August day. Paid just about 600 dollars for only two hours to move a mini deep freezer,a 75 lbs printer ,a mini fridge ,some containers and garbage bags of clothes .These men moved slow as if they was dragging out the time.When they finally loaded the truck , the unit we was moving to was a block up the street.So basically it was super close by .They told my mom and I that they would follow us since it's not that far,when me and my mom reach the apartment , these men drove straight pass us.They were gone for approximately 15 minutes .They talking about how they got lost and how they at a different address even though the unit we moved to was a block up the street.I could of stand at the entrance way to the old apartment and look up the street and see the new one.When they finally arrived,they handled everything rough which resulted in my property being damaged and no apologies was given.The guy told me that a screw was miss as to why my pully cart was damaged even though it was brand new.It hurts to see your own people try to get one over on you and treat you this way.I am a single mom of 3 boys working my butt off just to make sure my babies good and I didn't deserve this treatment. The good: - Called the day before to confirm - Rates were as promised - They were on time and friendly/professional - Hard working - one guy was so sweaty from the work he looked like he just got out of the shower (also a negative - my stuff had sweat on it). The not-so-good: (NOTE: I'm sure I underestimated the amount of items I needed to move which probably caused most of this) - It took way longer than estimated - Wasn't told they only accepted cash until payment was due. Luckily I planned to pay cash anyway - The guys told me they wouldn't charge me for the time it took to go to the gas station to fill up their tank but they did - My boyfriend and I had to help them load and unload - 2 guys clearly wasn't enough help - They didn't bring their own water - I think they went through almost a half a case of water that day. Not a problem just thought they would be better prepared as professional movers. - The truck had the company name of "Metro Pro Movers" I believe - a little confusing Overall they guys were helpful and professional - no real damage other than sweaty boxes that I noticed. The guys from focus movers did a decent job. They arrived basically on-time and handled all of our furniture and boxes with proper care. Their challenge was made more difficult by the fact that the movers who loaded our truck initially (we drove our own), packed it in TIGHT and deconstructing it was like playing reverse Tetris. But they did a good job and worked hard! The only suggestion for improvement would be to ask that the movers read labels more carefully. Most of our boxes were clearly labeled as "Kitchen" or "Bedroom" and some of our boxes ended up in different rooms. Not a big deal but just a suggestion. Their pricing was very reasonable for labor-only assistance and so I'd definitely recommend them or use them again. read more

Everything seemed to be going heavenly and I was so excited that I had decided to use movers to move this time. That was until I went to hook my tv up (which was packed in the "special" box they told me to use) and it was broken (screen cracked). They also broke the glass on my curio cabinet. I expected an offer to reimburse me at least the price of what the tv was costing and was offered NOTHING. I had to call multiple times and was continually put off and finally the 5th time I called, I asked for $150. I called on a Saturday morning hoping to find someone to help me move some furniture around in my home. It was about 2 hours of work and some heavy lifting as furniture had to be moved up and down several levels. The person that answered my call said same day service was available and scheduled someone to arrive between noon and 2 p.m. I was called at 12:15 by the guys doing the move to tell me they would be there at 1:30. The 2 guys who showed up were professional, courteous, responsive and HARD WORKING! These guys were careful yet focused on getting everything done quickly. Nothing was damaged and proper care was taken at every step. They were polite and I basically had to make them take a break to grab some water. I plan to use this company on my upcoming move this year as they did a fantastic job. I took the time to call the dispatcher I spoke with earlier to tell him his guys were incredible. Definitely Recommend. Had to move ALOT of stuff out of my storage and have it transferred to my new location. I needed this done within 24 hours.. Yes I waited until the last minute. I usually don't write reviews, but I must say that Focus Movers really exceeded my expectations. I scheduled my appointment on Yelp, got a reminder call the day prior, and two movers arrived ready to go 15 minutes early! The job I had for them seemed small (moving two reclining couches up to a third floor apt) but the couches were extremely heavy. They maneuvered the couches in with ease and it was easy to tell how experienced they were as they finished the job in less than an hour. My dad was even impressed and got some of their business cards to help with his personal contracting company. Thanks for a great experience!! read more

Update: I wouldn't use these guys again. The first time I used them I was moving out of a first floor apartment into a first floor storage spot. Easy, no problem. The second time, I moved into a 3rd fl apartment. It was a trying move, buy they scratched my sectional sofa by forcing it through the doorway at an awkward position. When I pointed it out, they refused to adjust, and proceeded to scratch the second section of my sofa as well. They also complained about the move, complained about the heat, and they were slow. These were not professional movers, moreso just a couple of strong guys. As the minutes ticked by, I ended up being the fourth "man" on their team just to cut down on time. Not what I planned for. I called their headquarters and sent pictures of the damage. They understood and offered me a refund for the cost to re-upholster the furniture, so that was the one saving grace about this company. But again, the movers they sent me were terrible and I would never use them again. read more

I needed a sofa moved from garage to the second floor. After 10 minutes the guys figured the sofa would not fit. BUT they did not give up! They surveyed the windows and exits and decided the could get it thru my second story window. By unconventional means they got my sofa into the second floor room in 50 minutes total! Very disappointed about the service. They wanna charge me 360 for 1.5 hours of work. On the phone the guy told me the rate is 100/hr and it takes 2-3 hours to finish the work. They only took a little bit more thank 1.5 hours and then told me minimum is 3 hours and 60 for service. Will not choose them anymore and will not recommend to anyone else!
