Best Moving Company EVER! I scheduled for Steve F. to come out and provide me with a quote for a pack and move. He was timely and very professional. The day of the move, the movers showed up early but it worked out. David A. and crew got the job DONE!!! They were about their business taking great care with packing and securing my property. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, I had already packed my master bedroom and later completed the kitchen/dining room. Therefore, they completed the remaining three (3) levels and did a FANTASTIC job. I've never experience such experts with great customer service. The last movers I hired, dropped a case of Cooperhawks Wine and never replaced it. I would highly recommend this company, if you are looking for quality service. The pleasant surprise was that since I had packed some of my rooms, the quote went down because the Time & Material was less. My experience with Perry Moving and Storage started out really strong with professional courteous staff who knew how to do their job. But after the move was completed and my belongings were unloaded at my new house, everything came undone. We actually moved fewer items than originally planned and they took one day less than planned to conduct the move. Based on that, we expected the final invoice would certainly be no more than their estimate. Much to our surprise, Perry sent us an invoice for an additional $1846, which was 17% more than the estimate! For more than two months after the move, we went back and forth on the upcharge with Perry, including with one of their vice presidents, Brad Payne, asking them to explain the rationale for such a large upcharge. We thought they should zero it out given they moved less than originally estimated and took less time than planned. They never really explained why this additional charge was warranted and asked us to pay the full $1846. Incredibly disappointing. We reluctantly paid it, but I strongly recommend avoiding this company. Find someone else with ethical business practices. read more

This has been, by far, the worst experience I have ever had with a moving company. The problems started the day before our scheduled move. The company called to tell me they didn't have a driver and wanted to postpone the pickup. I explained that our flights were already booked for the following evening and that postponing was extremely difficult. Nevertheless, at around 6:00 PM that evening, they emailed to say they still couldn't find a driver, essentially forcing us to delay the move. We had no choice but to reschedule our flights, incur additional expenses, and postpone our travel, all because the company failed to honor its commitment. We had also made it very clear that the movers needed to arrive no later than 8:00 AM on the new date because carpet repair technicians were scheduled for 8:30 AM and a professional cleaning crew was arriving at 11:00 AM. The company assured us they would arrive by 8:00 AM. Instead, no one showed up until after 9:15 AM. The delay forced our contractors to wait, resulting in additional charges. The most upsetting part happened during loading. Our daughter's viola, worth about $4,000, was accidentally loaded onto the truck. Because it is a delicate wooden instrument that can be permanently damaged by prolonged exposure to summer heat, we immediately asked the crew leader to retrieve it. He assured us that once the truck reached the warehouse, they would unload it, locate the viola, and ship it to us via FedEx. We trusted his word and allowed the move to continue. Six days later, the shipment still has no driver assigned. Despite multiple phone calls and emails explaining the urgency, the company has refused to retrieve the instrument or expedite the whole delivery. They even told me that the crew leader's promise "doesn't count." Meanwhile, the truck is sitting in extreme summer temperatures, putting our daughter's instrument at serious risk of irreversible damage. Today, they stopped answering my phone calls altogether. Instead, they replied an email by telling me to contact United Van Lines about its delay policy, effectively passing the responsibility elsewhere instead of resolving the problems they created. My family has been patient, cooperative, and reasonable throughout this process. We rearranged our travel plans to accommodate the company's scheduling failure, yet they have repeatedly failed to keep their promises or communicate responsibly. I am a professor and clinician who cares for cancer patients. In both my professional and personal life, honesty, integrity, and keeping the promise are fundamental values. It is deeply disappointing to experience such poor communication, broken promises, and lack of accountability from a company entrusted with transporting our family's belongings. By now, I still have no idea when our household goods will arrive or what condition they will be in. If you're considering this company, I strongly encourage you to think twice. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend them. read more

The person who completed my initial assessment was Diane Linville. The moving coordinator was Stephanie Miller. I have worked with United Vanlines/Perry Moving twice. Once from Indiana to Baltimore City, and the second from Baltimore City to Michigan. The first time I moved with them, the moving coordinator I worked with was very communicative, checked in with me throughout the moving process (including when my items were being picked up), and was conscious of my anxiety levels. The second time I moved, I needed to contact Stephanie to remind her of upcoming deadlines, follow up with her when she said that she would get back to me and failed to do so, and was also unprofessional at times, uttering profanities like "retarded" in reference to the move itself when on the phone with her. What's more is that one of my inventory items never even arrived to me. They launched an audit to find the lost items but came back empty, so I guess one of their workers just walked off with it. The pay out on the audit also was less than half of what the items were valued at. Some of the items that were lost can't be replaced. Like how does something just walk off? You're a moving company that specializes in moving things, and you're one of the most expensive brands in the market with guaranteed service. On a positive note, the people who picked and dropped off my belongings were very professional, on time, and handled everything like glass. Don't think I'll work with Perry again. read more

Perry Moving & Storage is an unprofessional, destructive, and disrespectful moving company. On Saturday, June 25th the moving team deliberately and needlessly tore a very large branch from a tree planted along private property at the sidewalk of 39th St NW, Washington, DC, at the 3600 block, causing irreparable damage to private property. Given the moving company had been working since 9am and tore down the branch in the mid-afternoon, and that there were no items larger than standard boxes being packed, there was no reason for this to be done by the moving team in order for move to be completed other than disrespect and poor judgement on respecting others' property. In no case would I recommend working with Perry Moving & Storage given their disrespectful and destructive practices. read more

Simply the worst movers I have ever used. It rained during the move and they said that they therefore couldn't carry some heavy furniture on the grass to the back of the house where they needed to go down steps to the basement. So they left it in the garage. But now 2 weeks later they have not come back and have ignored my calls. In addition, they made a hole in the wall which they did not fix. read more

Placed cardboard on the floors and wrapped the stairwell banisters to prevent any damage to the property. Wonderful to deal with from start to finish. You hear so much about bad movers that it is scary but Perry was recommended by our realtor so we crossed our fingers and went for it. We got an initial estimate long before we knew a moving date (we were putting our house on the market but didn't know when it would sell), so put an initial date down. Then got a contract, so changed the date. Then the contract fell through so put the move on hold. Then got a new contract so finally were able to get an accurate date. Oh, and we didn't actually know for sure where we were moving to until a month before! And of course this was during the summer (busiest time) AND in the midst of the pandemic. I was lucky enough to have Tara as a move coordinator and she was AMAZING! Always helpful and "no problem" whenever I called with more changes. One thing I loved about Perry was being able to get packing supplies, so we went up there several times for more boxes and wrapping paper (we had a lot of stuff!) She had everything ready and helped me load into the car. She also gave me overall just great moving advice (like don't change your credit card addresses until you arrive at your final destination or you may have problems getting gas. Would I have thought of this? Never!) Moving day came and the team did a great job loading everything that we had packed (all the boxes) as well as packing the furniture. I thought it would be a very long day but in the end I think it was maybe 7-8 hours. They had a good sized team who took very good care of our house (movers+ antique heavy furniture+new paint and newly finished hardwood floors did not instill me with confidence) but there was only one light fixture that ended up getting damaged. This with 16K pounds of stuff. I felt bad on the other end when our stuff arrived as there were only a few guys to unload (the local team they called didn't come out in full force). So it was a much longer day but the team hung in there. James the driver and crew chief was terrific. We had some damage but almost all of it was in the boxes that we had packed :( so not their fault. Through it all, Tara stayed in touch, just checking to make sure that all was going well. We packed our stuff in Maryland on a Wednesday I think and it arrived here in Denver the following Tuesday. Wow. Highly recommend Perry and if you are lucky enough to have Tara as your coordinator, you can now breathe again, knowing that all will be well. read more

In Annapolis there are no other local movers with their caliber of caring for your stuff. I would rather pay a proper rate for good movers than lay for repairs on the back side. Horrible from the saleforce and mgmt team BUT the moving team was great and rallied after lack of communication and poor notes fro sales! I have emails and notes stating what was needed and the moving team looked at me when they got there like "what"" but got it taken care of when noone would answer any of our txt or calls on moving day the lead took charge but had to leave my home and go get materials. Then after 90min, my family and i had to help the team pack up again without ANY support coming from sales or mgmt. Then i singed at the end of the day noting less hours materials, manpower, time etc. ready for a $400 refund as note don the bill i SIGNED, mgmt FINALLY got involved and refused to refund and blamed it on the moving team and myself! i was told this company was good but it was the most unprofessional sales and mgmt team i have ever worked with. Have to dispute this now with my ccard company. Beware of this company from what i understand after doing more research this is not the first time i just wish i had researched but a real estate friend recommended them - telling them what happended as well. read more

We had a terrible experience this past summer with this company. I have done 5 cross country moves in my life and this was the worst experience by far, and it was only a local move at that. By far the most disappointing aspect of working with Perry Moving was how they grossly underestimated the amount of we had that needed to be transported. Before the move the estimator came to home, looked at all my furniture, dishware, books, decor, clothes, safes, etc. She saw it with her own eyes and gave me an estimate of $2485.00 for the whole thing, including switching two refrigerators and washer/dryers between my old and new homes, as the old home we turned into a rental. I thought the price was reasonable. Moving day came and things went south when the movers brought too small of a truck and they had to bring another truck to take some of our items. The estimator had also estimated that this would be a one day event; she was way wrong. The movers only finished packing our old house by the end of the day. It was July and so hot and they were so tired I told them they could finish the next day. So they showed up at the new house the next morning and finished moving everything in by about 2:00 pm. The final charge was $4208.75 - almost double the estimate. When I made a comment about that to the estimator during the move she quipped "I didn't realize you had so much bulky furniture." And she had seen all of our furniture clearly. So either she was really stupid or the company actively tried to rip me off; am leaning towards the latter. The movers themselves were polite, but not careful. They damaged both refrigerators: my prized $3000.00 Bosch, and a more basic Kitchenaide. The Bosch was severely dented on 3 sides. They scratched the floors excessively at both houses to the point that they had to be repaired by a flooring/wood specialist. Then they scratched the floor of my garage, which I later had repaired. I later found lots of dents and scratches on more of my furniture as we unpacked over the subsequent months. They comped me only $2409.95 for all of it. I accepted, but would never recommend this company for a move. At least I can take the loss on my taxes. Avoid them. They're rip off artists. read more

Exceeded expectations. Excellent customer service, excellent employees, top notch follow up and fulfills all promises. I had nightmares leading up to this horrendous experience. Honestly, moving is just so painful. These guys were incredible. Think of them as counselors through one of life's most challenging endeavors. We have antiques, baby toys, heavy fragile marble pieces - honestly it was just embarrassing. But they packed it, carried it, delivered it safely and all through it all they smiled and were super courteous. Diana came out & gave me an estimate. She also gave me options, e.g. If you pack this, your price will go down by X. I really appreciated that. The guys showed up promptly @ the designated time even though the 495 was a mess. They worked diligently and only took a brief break. They didn't even scratch a wall or drop one toy. They didn't complain or make fun of my marble ;) I love those guys! We happily provided lunch and tipped them. They were gracious and it was not expected. The owner of the company came out to check on his guys during the unload phase. The office called me to check in during the packing & loading. Seriously who does that??? It was awesome. Honestly, I'll never use anyone else. If you have valuable stuff or care about your belongings and/ or the walls in your home, hire these people. Worth every penny. Their estimates are super accurate. Our move came in $100 below the estimate. That's epic. read more

Scheduled a local move from Canton to Hampden which included moving items from one storage facility to another. The crew was timely, professional, experienced and made a very long day pleasurable for myself and my daughter. One item was damaged in transit and that was fixed to perfection. I do not recommend using Perry Moving and Storage. Although they have a few hard workers, their efforts are undermined by terrible back office support and poor quality control on their packers. As for back office support, their surveyor and long range scheduler failed to accurately assess the weight of my household goods requiring my shipment to be split across three different trucks because dispatch kept sending partially filled trucks. Some of the packers did a tremendous job, however, not all. The packers used old boxes and failed to wrap many priceless, fragile, and irreplaceable items. We suffered from extensive damage due to poor packing and collapsed boxes that was the result of lazy packers. In short, use Perry Moving at your own risk. read more

Talk about a difficult move. These guys moved items, large items that I asked they not touch. Missed entire rooms. Split packing into two half days causing lack of continuity. Boxes weren't marked causing more confusion. In their haste to finish the dropoff they left my $2k British Isles furniture in n the gazebo outside (living room furniture). Promised to return to at least return larger items to the original location. Never happened. Once they were paid, they were done. The problem is the move was part of a legal separation hence I had to spend quite a bit more money and months of time to fix the above misses. read more

This is the 2nd time we have used Perry for a local move and once again, they did not disappoint. From the initial consultation with "Link" to the guys that came and moved us in and out, the experience was top notch. Very professional (to the point that our Super at the condo we moved into said "Those guys were great, and fast. Very courteous to the other residents. I will recommend them to anyone who asks"). The team at Perry called the day before to confirm and were there when they said they were going to be there. The took care of our things as if they were their own and worked diligently (in the rain no less) to get us packed up out of our house in a timely manner. The move went off without any issues and I would highly recommend Perry for your move. To the other reviewers that complained about price. I called around and Perry was not the cheapest but having used them before, I will always pay extra for quality versus going the cheap route to save a few bucks and not have my stuff lost/broken. These folks are terrible communicators. It took me 5 months of full voicemail boxes, unreturned phone calls, and unanswered emails to get them to ship 5 boxes from Maryland to Oregon. Ultimately, I had to arrange the shipment myself and only four of the boxes showed up. I can't be sure if UPS lost the box or if it's still in their warehouse because they haven't responded to my last email. If you're looking for a responsive company, keep looking. read more

Did not have a good experience moving from one state to another. Goods were supposed to be delivered and when the truck came, only 1/6 of my items were on the truck. A week later, another truck came and it still did not have all my items. Another week later, another truck came and even after ally goods were finally delivered, some of the hardware was missing so they sent a worker with packing tape and zip ties to hold together my bed frame. I had a standing chest mirror and they lost one of the decorative screws to hold the mirror as well. Never did find that or follow up with me. Would never use or recommend them to anyone!! I was extremely disappointed in Perry performance during my move with items going both inter- and intra-state. It took repeated requests for a written estimate and then for a contract. I should have heeded these glaring warning signs (no motivation before contract signing means even less once you sign) but my real estate agent highly recommended personally. Moving day, they appeared to pack well, but later unpacking revealed numerous damages to furniture (gouges and crushed armoire feet because they did not remove them first) and a lamp. They lost a large picture and a seat cover. Items were sent to the wrong location despite clear destination markings. Phone calls and emails trying to correct the issues went unanswered. I could not even get the contract paperwork out of them to prosecute the interstate move, after they had picked the items up. The company doing that move had to intercede to get Perry to do their piece. I have never dealt with a company so sloppy, indifferent, unprofessional and willfully bad. And the issues were not so much the staff doing the moves. It was with the office and the executives in particular. Who do you complain to when the issue is with the leadership? read more

I can't say enough good things about Perry, especially about the moving crew themselves. Everyone was really friendly and accommodating. They were able to schedule our move last minute. It took a crew of three 8.5 hours to move our stuff. We have a lot of large and heavy pieces. They were simply incredible. They never slowed throughout the course of the day (I've read reviews how crews start out well but fade as they get tired). NOT this crew - they took a short lunch and two 10 minute breaks. Not only that, they were a joy...great attitudes and made the day fun actually. One of the guys was under the weather but you never would have known. Kudos to Carter, Keith and Richard...they're the best! Prices were competitive with the rest of the market (I called three other companies). We have more stuff to move and will definitely re-enlist Perry's services. read more

Each time the crew was beyond courteous, friendly & extremely hard working. Bradley was the crew "boss" on our last and final move and I can't say enough good things about him! He obvious had the respect of the other 3 guys in the crew, but also to us he was polite and extremely energetic from start to finish. They even completed the move in less time than anticipated! I chose Perry Moving Services because of their glowing reviews on Angie's List. Unfortunately I did not experience the same level of service from this organization. I was originally scheduled for a visit from an estimator who did not show up at the time agreed upon over the phone. He was sick that day, and did not call me to let me know he was not coming. I should have walked away at that point, but was impressed by Sam Perry who visited my home and gave me the estimate. After his visit, I decided to move forward with Perry Moving Services. David in their main office was very patient with me because I had to push back our moving date twice due to the closing of our home not being held on the scheduled date, and our pre-planned vacation out of the country. I would like to thank him for his patience through that process. The inside sales staff at Perry Moving Services is very punctual and understanding. On the day of my move, we had four gentlemen arrive at my home and start work once we walked through the property. They were very energetic at the start, and it slowly declined during the day. I contracted Perry Moving Services to move a 1200lb safe (which they were confident they could move). They waited to make this the last item in the new home, at the very end of the day and I feel this was a big mistake. I now have a 1200lb hunk of steel that does not work, and am waiting on parts to arrive to have a local dealer repair my safe. If you have a large safe that needs to be moved, I would encourage you to look somewhere else. They were undermanned to complete the safe move, and I had to help them on several occasions to get it in the house. My largest frustration comes from how I was charged for the move. I would approximate that I paid for 1-1.5 hours of moving time where the movers were attending to the engine of one of their moving trucks. The smoke coming from the engine compartment was so bad that it broke down on my street and it was blocking local traffic. They had to fill it with water three different times (to keep it from overheating) and needed to call a tow service to attempt to repair the truck onsite. I was not credited this time on my final invoice. I understand that vehicles will have unforeseen mechanical issues in the field, but I feel this was not handled in the correct manner. I should not be paying for these movers to work on engine in their truck. I ordered food in for everyone so that they would not leave for lunch and keep working. Unfortunately they ran late (due to working on the truck), and were moving items in the dark (including my 1200lb safe). I have unpacked the majority of the items that were moved, and nothing was broken (I spent a lot of money on bubble wrap and double wrapped anything of value or that was fragile?. I am disappointed that they managed to scratch the four glass desktops I have (which were removable from the desk). I was told that they would be put back together when we arrived at our new home. When the movers left, I saw the four pieces of glass in a corner, and knew that something had to be wrong. The four pieces of glass have deep scratches and now look terrible. It is obvious to me that they did not wrap them separately and I will probably have to purchase two new desks for my home office. Everyone has a bad day, and I understand that we don't live in a perfect world. But I cannot give these guys a good recommendation for friends/family who are looking for moving services in the future. read more

Perry was recommended to us by a coworker and they did not disappoint. From the initial phone call (I believe it was with Penny), to the walk through and estimate with Shane, to Kenny and his crew. Everything was great. Kenny called when they were about 15 minutes away. We opted to have them do only the moving so we packed everything ourselves ( but they do offer the packing service). They arrived and they all introduced themselves to us. Kenny went over the moving contract with us and they got started. They had us loaded up and unloaded at our new place in under 4 hours! Including drive time. And they helped us rearrange the furniture before they left. We hopefully won't be moving again for a LONG time but when we do, we'll be calling Perry again! read more

I had them pick up my household goods in June 2018 and put them in storage until I found a new home. Four months later, October 2018 they partially delivered my belongings. I had to request a second delivery of my garden tractor and the delivery of a damaged night table top. I was called away until the end of March 2019 at which time I returned and began unpacking the goods. I found a number of things missing and contacted them. At first they were very responsive and seemed to care about finding the items. In July 2019 they found my elliptical and stationary bike - in dreadful condition. I have continued to try and keep in touch with them moving from Heidi to Sam Perry and now on to Rick Perry. They are all nice to talk to but do not ever return any of the phone calls after the initial contact. There are at least 5 boxes of belongings that as of this date, August 2019, are still missing. Many of the items are non-replaceable and I am very upset over the entire situation. I keep giving them the lot number of the orange stickers that they placed on everything to no avail. My suggestion to you is to hire them or someone else to put your things into a storage locker of your choice (not theirs) and then when ready hire them or someone else to move your things into your new place. DO NOT USE THEM AS A STORAGE PLACE - you may never see your things ever again! read more

Each of the three days, a different team came to handle each task. Each team member spoke and read English well, was efficient and competent, and quite personable. I used Perry Moving and Storage for a 1 bedroom apartment move recently and their price was fair and their movers were excellent. The movers worked diligently and were very friendly and approachable. The movers also helped me with a few special requests such as carrying heavy items I wanted to throw out to the dumpster for me and placing items in my car that I wanted to transport myself. I had asked for an early morning move as my new apartment had a very specific window in which I could use the freight elevator. I was told this would be no issue however on moving day the movers showed up an hour after the time I had asked for over the phone and in email. Luckily the apartment complex was able to add a hour to my reservation of the freight elevator so everything worked out. This was the only negative part of my moving experience and is the reason I am providing a 4 star rating instead of a 5. I will be using Perry Moving and Storage for my future moves and will be recommending them to my friends when they need to hire movers. read more

I got a few estimates to move all the contents of my 3 bedroom home to my new house about 10 miles away. Perry Moving was not the lowest option but very close and I was so much happier with the detailed estimate they provided. They used an iPad to check off every room and item in the house and were able to determine how many men and how long it should take to complete so I decided to go with them for better piece of mind and they came highly recommended from my realtor. They were very easy to deal with from setting up the estimate to booking the date with just 2 weeks notice to following up with me leading right up to the move date. They showed up right on time and got started right away. I packed my own things except some of the furniture and they moved very quickly to cover them with movers blankets and wrap them up. I wanted a very large heavy workbench moved and they ended up having to remove my basement door as well as the vice on the bench to get it out but they didn't complain and were very confident they could get it out somehow.
