However...the rate increases are unconscionable and I am extremely disappointed. I moved my things into a 10X15 unit on 6/16/ 2025 for a fantastic move-in special of $110/month. After 5 months the rate increased to $171/month, a 55.45% increase. I was a little concerned, but knew rates had to increase and figured it was still a fairly good price. Six months later, the price increased again to $271/month!! This amounts to a 59% increase over 6 months, and a whopping 146% increase over the course of 11 months!!! My rating is based solely on pricing practices.

The storage facility itself is fine (though finding a dolly when you arrive can be hit or miss), but if you opt to use this place, just plan on leaving within a year or two to go somewhere that is significantly less expensive once they jack up your rates.

We brought the motorcycles with all the paperwork to store them at which point we were told since I rented the unit only my motorcycle could be stored in it - my husband had to rent a second unit as i am not on his title. that is there POLICY. I wanted to raise the matter above the Sunday fill-in guys head which fell on deaf ears. Big time BAIT AND SWITCH! We inked a deal with them understanding they were working in good faith. They only thing they really care about is being able to liquidate everything in your unit should you not pay. Never ever will I use this storage facility no matter how nice and clean (it is) and DO NOT recommend anyone try to store vehicles with them. FOLLOW UP - Dave at presumably the home office called to discuss my experience, promised he would provide a refund of the charges we encountered. 3 weeks later that refund remains missing, go figure.

Changing Prices National self-storage companies use a system called "revenue management" to set their prices. At the national storage conventions, owners take classes about how to use this software to increase revenue by raising prices on customers. What is revenue management? This practice is what airlines and hotels use when they quote you a different rate for the same flight or room based on demand. Big storage companies do the same thing, reassessing their prices hourly. This means if they only have one 10 x 10 unit at the moment you check, it might be priced at $200 a month (compared to $100 last week). You can get the same unit at a company that is not using this software for much less. Why are they doing this? To make sure they are charging you the highest price they can get away with to maximize their revenue. 2. Increasing Rent All the Time When you sign a contract with one of these companies, you think that you've locked in a price for the rest of your lease, right? Not true. Almost all contracts in the self-storage industry are month-to-month. This means they can increase your rent at any time with a 30-day notice. National companies increase rent for current customers frequently, oftentimes twice a year. So, a unit you thought would be $70 per month suddenly costs you $115 per month. If you stay a year with that new rate, you'll be dishing out an extra $540 you hadn't budgeted for originally. 3. Charging High Fees National self-storage companies often reel you in with attractive pricing or a special but get you with fees. You may think you're paying only $70 per month, but wait, there's more: Admin fee ($20-$30) Lock charge ($20-$30) Late fees ($50-$60 for more than 30 days late) Deposit fee ($25-$45) Those fees add up, especially if you stay in your unit for a long time. Your bill inevitably ends up being much larger than you initially planned. 4. Ripping You Off with Insurance The big storage companies try to squeeze every possible penny out of you. One of the ways they do this is by requiring you to buy their storage insurance. While it seems like it adds value for customers, storage insurance is just an additional revenue stream for storage companies. Often, the insurance provider is the self-storage company. Other times, it's a third-party provider that gives the storage company a monthly kickback for selling policies. Public Storage automatically enrolls you in its insurance program, and you have to opt-out later to get out of it. They don't even offer good coverage. When you try to make a claim, you'll find the policy is selective in what it covers. Storage insurance is just an easy way for national storage chains to make an extra $15 to $25 per month from you. In fact, most renters have homeowners or renters' insurance that automatically covers items they've put in storage without additional cost. Our experience in managing 5,000 storage units is that it is very rare -- under 1% -- for something to happen that affects the contents of a storage unit. If you wrap your furniture in thick plastic wrap available on Amazon, and pack all your other items in plastic crates with tight lids, you will avoid almost all of the possible incidents that can affect your contents. That effort would eliminate rodent damage, mildew, and water damage, plus protect against absorbing the smell of the unit. The only thing left that could happen is theft. You have dropped your risk to .1%. Let's look at what would happen if you somehow incurred a loss: If you buy their insurance and stay for two years paying $25 extra a month, and if their policy covers the damage you incur, you have paid $600 for the insurance plus the $100 deductible. So you would have to experience over $700 in damage for it to help you. Do yourself a favor and spend $100 on packing supplies and rely on your homeowners or renters policy. 5. Making You Buy Their Expensive Lock Unfortunately, most national storage companies require you to buy their lock for $15-$20 (or more) instead of providing one to you free of charge. You can get the same lock at the local hardware store for $6.

We had a lot going on so we needed a company that could completely pack and move us with as little hassle as possible. They came to our old place and reviewed and inventoried every item. We have a lot of art and a particularly unique glass table. They gave us a quote that was significantly higher than any of the other movers, but we chose them for several reasons. 1. The actually came out to understand what they were moving 2. They explained how they would handle the art and glass table 3. They stated that all their workers we salaried employees with no day laborers 4. It turned out that the guy who came out had gone to school with my daughter so we made a nice connection The day before the move they came out and did all the packing. We were impressed by the efficiency of the team, their speed and their unity. The day of the move they showed up on time and got to work. Again very efficient and effective. They packed everything in about 3 hours. We we got to the new place they again were super efficient. Even though I paid a ton of money, I ended up giving each mover a $20 tip. According to them, although they are employed by the company they don't get a ton of benefits and they wish they got higher wages. Still the fact that most of them had been with the company several years and that the got along well tells me they were being treated well. As we unpack we are finding out just how much paper they used to pack everything. This meant that nothing broke, but it also means I have a landfill worth of paper to throw away (recycle). Bottom line was that it was a great experience. The reason I did not give them the 5 stars is cost. Ultimately I don't regret it and will definitely come back to them for any future moves, but hopefully I will be able to negotiate a little better in the future.

We signed a paper contract when they dropped off the unit, although I don't really remember signing a contract. But then 3.5 years later, they sent us a digital contract and asked us to sign it. But because I don't remember the paper contract, I refused to sign the digital contract. Even though we were paying every month on time for the last four years, they refused to give us one more month with the unit because we refused to sign the contract. Additionally, after returning the unit, my credit card was charged two months in a row, and I had to call the company to get a refund on my credit card. I would recommend the business because the delivery and pickup of the unit was simple. But everything else involved with renting this unit, I don't recommend.

We've had our stuff in here for a year, and when we were moving into our new house we went to retrieve our belongings. The unit was disgusting. Full of dirt and dust and trash which had somehow gotten under the door (this is an inside unit by the way). And then: everything was covered in mouse poop. COVERED. All of our furniture had nests in it. We found multiple dead mice amongst our stuff. It was horrifying. Clearly we couldn't take a lot of the stuff, so I called the manager who basically said it wasn't their problem. She then told me it would be $350 removal fee for anything left. I said fine. Then three days later all of a sudden it was $500. We will never be using public storage again and ABSOLUTELY would not go near this location again. We were disappointed with our recent experience with Bookstore Movers. The crew was polite, but the…read moremove felt much slower and less efficient than it should have been. We had a dedicated elevator, yet workers often brought items down only one or two at a time. I also saw team members on their phones or standing around in rooms and hallways instead of actively moving things. These delays added up quickly. The crew also misplaced parts of our bed frame, and the pieces had to be found before it could be reassembled. That alone added nearly an hour to the move. Because the move took much longer than expected, the final cost was significantly higher than the estimate we received. We were also charged based on an arrival time that was recorded as ten minutes earlier than when the crew actually arrived. The team was courteous, but given the inefficiency, added time, and higher final price, we would not use Bookstore Movers again. This is unfortunate, because we had been happy with them in previous moves.
