Last night at 7:45 pm I called Brian F. for help moving some items out of a storage unit. I had previously arranged this with ReSupply -Habitat for Humanity's service for items they cannot use in their ReStores. They confirmed the night before, that morning, at 2 pm, at 3 pm, at 3:30 pm and at 3:48 pm they said they weren't coming. This was already after canceling the first day and moving the pick-up out 3 days. Needless to say I was in a sweat. The unit had to be empty the day ReSupply bagged on me. I got a 1 day extension from the storage facility to avoid paying for another full month. So - back to Brian at Suburban Solutions. He answered his personal phone at 7:45pm and was personable and promised they would help. Today (31 Aug 2023) at 1:30 pm, he and 3 fellows showed up as promised at the storage facility and took away some heavy furniture and drove it off to be donated. Above and beyond what I wished for... AVOID! DRIVER FELL ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL, $48K OF PROPERTY DAMAGED, REPEATEDLY LIED TO BY OWNER This was our 3rd move with Suburban Solutions. I now wish that number was 0. Here's why: - They got into a major accident destroying much of our stuff - They lied about it straight to our faces in an attempt to cover it up - They told us they would cover the repair costs but then backed out for most costs Suburban Solutions is the worst and most dishonest company I've ever done business with. See excruciating details and cringe-worthy photos below, then decide whether this is the company you want to entrust with the contents of your home. First, the Suburban Solutions driver got into a major accident causing major damage. Brian, the OWNER of Suburban Solutions, called to say the damage was limited to front corner of the truck, and that he would take care of repairing the broken furniture. He said the driver was run off the road by another vehicle. Then he provided misinformation about the date and location making it harder to track down the police report (which told the truth of what actually happened - yeah, keep reading!). When our property arrived, the damage was much more severe. Several furniture pieces were broken beyond repair and almost all were battered. Most of our smaller items had been repacked into new boxes - along with dirt and weeds from the side of the road. Once he realized the extent of the damage, Brian reneged, saying he would only cover repairs for some (cheaper) items. He found vendors he said were rated 4.9, but they were 4.1. One vendor we called said they FIRED HIM as a client because they refused to do business the way he was trying to get them to. He told us the items would be fully repaired, but behind our back he told those vendors to only fix things minimally and ignore any dents, scratches, etc. We were without a sofa for weeks while he said repairs were in progress. We later learned he had refused to authorize the repairs so instead the sofa just sat there untouched. Our items were in pristine condition at the time of the move and Brian personally commented on how beautifully maintained everything was during the walkthrough. Thankfully, our renter's insurance applied, but when our claims adjustor spoke to him, he lied yet again, telling them that the pieces were in bad shape initially, hoping to deflect responsibility. Hold on, it gets better! A week after the move, the driver texted us to inform us that Brian had actually been LYING the whole time and had required him to play along! The driver had fallen asleep at the wheel while going 70mph. The truck overturned and the top of the truck broke off completely. Our stuff was smashed and dumped all over the side of the road. We were finally able to obtain the police report which confirmed the driver's version of the facts. This happened in the middle of the afternoon on day 2 of the journey after the driver picked up his cousin using the moving truck on day 1. Why was his cousin with him at all? And what were they doing the night before that caused him to doze off at 4pm? Regardless, according to the driver, he had called Brian an hour before the accident to tell him he was falling asleep, but Brian told him to keep going anyway. Brian has since fired the driver and reported to FMCSA that the driver has a "medical condition" that should prohibit him driving in the future. This was never disclosed to us, and if Brian knew about it, then why was he on the road in the first place? Or was this just another tactic for him to deflect blame away from himself? Look, accidents happen 1 in 10,000 times and we drew the short straw. It sucks. It's a low risk for you. But the outrageous lies that followed (and perhaps even led to the accident) were intentional, unprofessional, and fraudulent. Suburban Solutions lied then doubled down to save face after throwing our stuff - and our lives - into complete chaos for the next 6 weeks. They treated their previously loyal customers like total chumps. Hopefully this review and our formal complaint to BBB proves how badly their attempted cover-up backfired. In case Brian tries to reply to this and explain things off with more lies or sugarcoating, I've included photos of the state of our items, written exchanges with him (contact info redacted, of course), text exchanges with the driver (same), and the police report itself. Take a look for yourself. Then ask yourself: Are you willing to risk that this same thing happens to you? Are you willing to do business with a company whose owner will lie directly to your face after wrecking your life? You and your belongings deserve better. Worth every penny! I was so lucky to fit into Suburban Solutions' schedule for a late June move in DC. The pricing was similar to other companies I received quotes from, but what set them apart was their thorough and upfront communication. Brian Fitzgerald covered every detail in his pre-move emails and texts, and I knew right away I was in good hands. Frankly speaking, I was very stressed leading up to my move - cramming things into boxes, worried about how many boxes I had, and concerned my sofa may not fit into the elevator at my new apartment building. To top it off, my moving day was the hottest day of the summer! Despite all of my concerns, Brian and Cortez made the move look easy. They were on time, communicative, efficient, respectful of my belongings, and pleasant to be around. I was constantly blown away throughout the experience as I watched how intentionally they wrapped furniture, stacked boxes, or asked for my preferences on where something should go. Brian was quick and thorough in his estimate and clear in his communications before the day of the move, and even accommodated a late date-change for us. On the day, Shaun, Pedro, Ty, Luis (and one other guy whose name I lost, sorry!) were amazing. They handled everything efficiently and carefully, and they were great to work with. Thank you for an amazing move. The 3-person crew were friendly, personable, professional, and incredibly efficient. They took direction excellently and no request was too much/little. After hearing about experiences my parents had with movers from other companies, I was very worried about how the day would go. Your team did an excellent job. My numerous wooden furniture items (curio cabinets, buffets, china cabinets, secretary desks, etc) were very well taken care of. They took great care on the hardwood floors and helped us ensure all furniture pieces had felt pads on the bottom that we wanted This was a partial move from Linthicum to Fulton, MD with a 3-man crew and a full 20-ft truck and took 3.5 hours. Worth every penny to just sit there and watch. Suburban Solutions was recommended by our realtor. They were easy to get a hold of with a phone call and followed up with detailed information via email. Brian answered my numerous questions promptly. This is a two-part review that shows our initial interaction with the company (the move) and also their attempt to remedy the subpar service which we felt was not done in good faith. The crew came 5 hours late and tracked in significant amounts mud in our new build home. While they knew their previous client hadn't been truthful of the amount of stuff they had to move, our timing was delayed. BUT the owners and coordinators could've easily told us that their crew would not be on time as soon as they realized the previous customers' move would take twice as long so we could've made better use of our day. The Coordinators (not the crew) did communicate with us but kept pushing it back hour by hour. According to the moving crew, they knew it was going to take twice as long as soon as they saw the previous customer's home and packed boxes. By the time we were moved it was evening, and it had rained. So we weren't shocked to see a bit of mud; however, we should've foregone the $12 for floor protection because there might as well have been none. When we asked them to clean up all the mud they brought in and the scuffs/marks they made on the white painted walls, the lead said "I don't know what you want me to do because we don't have any rags or cleaning supplies to do that." I expect any contractor to clean up after themselves, and movers are no exception. Hiring a moving company is supposed to make your life easier, which a didn't happen here. I give them 2 stars bc the owner was nice enough to have availability after our first mover canceled on us last minute. Update/Part 2: I submitted the review above prior to expressing my concerns with the owner BUT I had conveyed the crew lead after the move that there was mud and scuffs everywhere. His response is noted above in the initial review. Because I understand how reviews like this have an impact on business, I agreed to take it down in order for them to remedy the situation by bringing in cleaners to clean up after the mess the crew had made (unintentionally, as it was a rainy night). I thought this was fair because at the end of the day, I wanted to be moved on time, my things to be in the correct areas of my house, and for the house to not be worse than before the crew arrived. I got 1/3 of those things, but I'd give them the chance to remedy 1 more issue. I won't be removing a post for any subpar service I receive again because of this experience. They offered to secure cleaning services to clean up the mud. But that didn't happen. So they offered to reimburse us a certain amount to get our own cleaning crew. But later, they mention a previous discount they offered (to make up the 4-hr delayed move) and cut the cleaning service reimbursement by 41%. I don't care about the money at this point because I've wasted so much time dealing with this company for a service that happened 2 weeks ago! I am simply writing this post because I am not happy with the service NOR their "attempt" to remedy this. I hate saying "I have the receipts," because I genuinely tried to give them a chance to remedy a situation where we were forced to waste so much time. But I have them, in case I ever find more time to engage. -------------- In response to Brian: This was not a favor. This was a business deal. As a small business owner, you should know that a company will make a profit by performing last minute services. I mentioned that your team got an extra star for coming through last minute in the first review. The baby wipes used were actually disinfectant wipes. I know this because they were mine. I offered them the wipes after I asked them to clean up the mud and they said they had no cleaning supplies to use. So, my comments are not vindictive but yours are misleading to say the least. We received a discount for junk removal. We didn't receive a discount for moving services. We instead had two extra crew members to try and make up for our 4-hr delayed move at the same cost. This would've been great if we didn't have so much mud tracked in. We didn't ask for further discounts, but were fine with a cleaning crew to come clean up after the movers. This is where the second part of the above review comes in. I take yelp reviews seriously because I deal with them on both sides. The core of small businesses is professionalism and integrity. These guys may be better than most. The crew was at least polite but they reeked of cigarettes and weed and did not finish the job. We had to go the next day to collect remaining items. We hired a 5-man team but 2 guys left early -no one told us. They also disappeared for a long time in the middle and credited us 30 mins. I contacted brown about this and he said he would find o ur why they were so slow and reach out to me, but he never did. He offered me an air purifier for $50 off Amazon but never sent the $$. I recommend getting someone who charges a flat fee so that they are required to finish the job. Hourly folks will go slow and have no incentive to finish quickly. Bad experience read more

While this company was highly recommended by a friend, they will become my highly recommended moving company for anyone in the DMV area. From my first interaction with the owner to the last drop off performed (5 days later), the service was impeccable! This was a very difficult move for my elderly eclectic family member who had to be uprooted from a home she loved. In addition to this strenuous move, my father also downsized and moving into a temporary home. Brian (owner) organized the move into various parts to reduce the stress on my family, which helped a lot and provided his expertise on moving seniors. The day of staff were very hospitable, and took great care in ensuring no damage occurred or items broken. I have plenty of friends and family with horror stories attributed to their moves, but that's not my testimony. I lost all of my furniture to these clowns about 6 years ago.. Took them court. I still lost my furniture but didn't have to pay them to do it. Not sure, but I think the movers were ex-cons. They knocked over a stop sign too. I lost 2 couches, 1 chair, 1 table, most of the ikea furniture (which is not guaranteed) they also damaged 1 chaise and 1 desk. A total, ~10k in original cost. They could never figure out how to get the furniture in the house. Never bothered to wrap the leather to protect it. They left my bed disassembled in the floor. I had to take over a couple days of work to deal with the aftermath of these jerks. The owner actually yelled at me when I called and he demanded payment In response to the owners comment, this review is most definitely for Suburban Solutions. The owner is the person in the comment that tried to claim that I posted to the wrong business. He is the same fool that I met in my bank 6 years ago so that he could pay me the money that the court awarded for his poor business behavior. Unbelievable. I didn't actually use their services, but they were definitely very responsive and helpful after a horrendous experience with another moving company (A-Anytime Movers; I gave them a nasty 1-star review). Long story short, they were supposed to come in the morning but they mistakenly booked me for an afternoon slot. I tried calling them multiple times, but it kept going to voicemail and I never got a response from them until it was too late ... absolutely unacceptable. Suburban Solutions was one of the 10 companies I received a quote from in my initial search for movers. They weren't the cheapest, but I felt it was a reasonable and competitive rate to move the contents of a small 1 bedroom apt into a storage unit ($135/hr with 2-hr minimum + $105 truck fee). The cool thing is that if you go over the minimum, they round-up the rate by the nearest MINUTE, not quarter-hour or half-hour like almost all other moving companies. Thus, you don't have to deal with movers running the clock a several minutes just so they can round-up a quarter/half-hour. Plus, their quote was the most detailed and organized one I had ever received, and I felt it was a nice touch that the manager Brian emailed/texted his direct phone number instead of hiding behind some generic company phone line that nobody answers like Anytime Movers. On moving day when Anytime Movers failed to show up, Suburban Solutions was the first company I contacted to see if they had any last-minute availability. Unfortunately they didn't have any, but Brian was kind enough to text me and give me a pointer on how to find help. I really appreciated that. Although I didn't use the service he recommended, I was miraculously able to find another company that showed up within 30 minutes and completed my move successfully. I picked Anytime Movers because they had the cheapest rate, but now I completely regret that. It's obvious they have to cut corners somewhere. I really don't understand how they have so many 5-star reviews on Yelp and Google. Their manager tried to pay for the partial cost of my move with the other company, but I declined. I wasn't going to get paid off not to write a negative review. I will definitely contact Suburban Solutions if I have to move again. read more

Update on 2/25/2020: I called them again for a move. We were moving just across the lake to a 3BR so my Mom could move up from St. Mary's Co. and live with us. Once again, they knew what questions to ask before the move, and they were in touch leading up to the date. They arrived in good time this morning and got the entire move done in only three hours! They took great care with our stuff, yet kept going at a good pace. Joshua, James, and Marshall were totally professional, courteous, and responsive. They asked questions, took direction, and thought of things I hadn't. They wrapped up the furniture and unwrapped it at the new place. They made sure to leave no trash behind. And even though I wasn't completely packed up, they helped me get things ready to go. Now that my son and I are moved, we're going to book Suburban Solutions to remove large trash items from our old place, and then to move my Mom next month. So, basically, call them and then you can pretty much relax. Great value and top quality! I will call them first from now on! Whether it's 1,000 yards or 1,000 miles, moving is still a pain. While my move was a short distance, and I could handle the boxes and small stuff myself, I really needed some help with the furniture. I looked on Yelp! to find the better-rated companies. I settled on Suburban Solutions because they answered my call promptly, made the process of ordering super easy, and were very courteous and clear on the phone. The two young men they sent were prompt, neat, courteous and really knew their stuff. They got my move finished in less than the two hours allotted; in fact they were done in less than 90 minutes! I am extremely happy with the job they did. They took great care with each piece. They were careful to put everything where I wanted it and even set up the bed exactly the way I needed. I've used Suburban Solutions several times before and really liked their service but after my last move NEVER again. For starters, I was supposed to have a 3 man crew and while 3 were there for the move only 2 worked. Multiple times we found the 3rd guy sitting in the truck talking on his phone instead of moving, even the 2 other movers said, "you came to work, now it's time to work". I was provided an estimate for the duration of the move I believe it was for 4 to 5 hours, in reality the move almost took double the estimate. Steve and his crew deserve 5 stars in terms of their competence, efficiency, and care in handling our furniture. They did a great job. I docked a star because they came an hour late. We were repeat clients. They moved us years ago to Arlington from DC and when we moved back this year to DC we didn't consider other movers. UPDATE: After I requested multiple times for him to come assess the damage himself and was turned down, I sent him multiple videos and pictures. He took full responsibility saying that his crew felt terrible and would be responsible for paying for the damages and that this was a fireable offense. He tried to defend it by saying that were just exhausted and it was too much to handle for them even though they were offered multiple times to continue the move on another day to ease their work. As soon as we had not 1 or 2, but 3 repair estimates at Brian's request, he started to try to turn the blame on the flooring company. All 3 of the estimates came up with damages ranging from $12,000.00-$15,000.00. This was sheer negligence plane and simple. The dragged our furniture and know matter how they try to twist the fault, they took no precautions to attempt to protect our floors and treated our belongings horribly. Brian was supposed to report the damages to their insurance and send an adjuster, but ultimately he would not even report it to them. After dragging things out for weeks and making claims of brining some specialty flooring person out to assess fault (who never showed up) Brian offered us $5,000.00 which is not even close to the cost of repairs or for requiring us to move out of our home for two weeks with our 3 children and find a place to live during that time of repairs. I am adding several pictures, but it is very hard to see the severity of the damage in them and it won't allow for video on yelp. As you will notice that there is no explanation as to why you accepted full responsibility stating that your crew acted in complete negligence and were too exhausted to complete the job in a quality manner. You also ignore your text message to me that I have saved where, you stated that your crew would pay for the damages. Only when you learned how severe the damages really were did you try to turn this around and blame it on a flooring company and I have yet to see any evidence as to these guidelines you speak of. There was no "independent flooring consultant" ever in the picture. You repeatedly stated that you would be scheduling a time to bring one in and you never did unless you snuck one in to our home without our permission. If you hired one and brought them into our home without our consent, I would love to see their written assessment and determinations as they were never provided to me. Your claim that the flooring company had some responsibility due to your personal feelings that the floors were not dry enough is unfounded and absolutely does not justify dragging furniture pieces across the floors. I am not simply referring to the refrigerator but to the many large furniture items that they dragged across our rooms. If your crew had not dragged around the furniture the damage simply wouldn't exist. You clearly cannot appreciate the degree of the severity because you never chose to evaluate it. One would think that as an owner who is invested in the reputation of a business could would come assess the damages caused to a repeat customer's home. Lastly, yes my attorney absolutely would've stated that we would write this review. If you had been willing to make a substantial offer for the damages we have incurred then we would've respected your business as a quality entity that values their customers and corrects their mistakes. $5,000.00 is not even a dent in what your company has cost us. Your refusal to accept responsibility is despicable. The flooring company was well aware that we would not only be walking on the floors but moving our furniture in on that date and the go ahead was given.You yourself told me that your crew even had the supplies on the trucks to protect our floors and you could not imagine why they didn't use it. I've used the service several times. Each time I ask myself why I use them again. It's mostly a matter of convenience. The best thing about this company is the ease of scheduling a move. Don't bother asking for a frequent customer discount. One past mover told me there was such a thing. But when I asked within my most request-a-quote email, I received no response to that question. I thought there was a discount for paying in cash. When I asked the mover who was filling out my receipt, he just laughed in my face and said, "No". That didn't come across very professional in my opinion. Usually at least one item gets broken or damaged during any move. I own things in the ikea/target level, so a ding here or there isn't a big deal to me. If you don't own valuable things, then this is the moving company for you. I wouldn't use this service otherwise. Don't bother purchasing a mattress bag from them either. If your mattress is too much for the movers to handle, they just rip it off anyway to make things easier for themselves... Hello sweat and dirt on my mattress... The last time I used the service, the guys wrapped everything up nice and secure. This time, it was some of that and then some weird method whereby they just half-ass wrapped things with a blanket. Then it looked as if they ran around some of the pieces with tape as if they were mayflower poles--except it wasn't as pretty. Before they start moving things into the truck, they have you point out what's going. I did that. After they finish packing the truck, they ask you to do a walk through to confirm that they moved what you pointed out. They missed some things making SS not the most efficient of services. If I pay by the minute, I don't like to pay for movers to check their cellphones while they are on the clock. I saw one mover peeping at the cellphone while on the clock. Hard to resist I know, but that doesn't come across very professional either. I don't expect movers to be in sprinting mode to get the job done, but the last movers didn't seem like they were in much of a hurry either. On a positive note, they did fly down the highway like bats out of hell. I'm not sure if that's good or bad, although that probably made up for some lost time. Another positive thing was that they arrived at the scheduled moving time. Being a mover is a tough job, but if your company advertises a "professional moving service" experience, I expect more than what I actually got. I have been working with Suburban Solutions since 2010 - and exclusively for my commercial moving projects. However, I recently needed to downsize my parents from their home which they've lived in for 40 years. So, I asked Suburban Solutions to assist us with our residential downsizing/moving needs. I could not have been more impressed with their advice, their staff and their leadership throughout this project. Brian Fitzgerald was both our adviser and program manager from beginning to end as we planned, scheduled and executed each day of a three-phased downsizing/moving effort. Brian guided us on how to plan for and stage each moving day - and he always answered my calls as we progressed through our move. Basically, Brian was a force-of-reason during a very challenging and somewhat emotional journey as we moved my parents from their home into a senior living community. The moving team - and in particular Steve (who goes by Mike), Nick, Robert, Dada, Josh and especially Marshall (who was with us during all three phases of our move) were outstanding. Their was nothing that they couldn't figure out. These guys moved items from the home into a storage unit and onto a senior living community with ease. They were very careful, they never complained and they always responded to our change requests while expressing gratitude for the opportunity to support us. So I've waited to post this review because of what happened. I arranged and was very prepared for my move. I hired movers a month in advance. Knew exactly what size truck was needed and how many guys would best facilitate my move. The day before the move, I received a call from Mike and the found out that the owner, Brian did not relay that information to the manager who runs the show. I originally arranged the mover to come at 10 am the mover showed up at 10:30. All boxes were labeled and nothing was left unpacked. So the movers off loaded my items, everything was scattered throughout my home. Boxes labeled kitchen were placed in bed room. It took me 2 weeks to unpack and move boxes to the appropriate place. So the movers broke my sofa and deliberately used heavy boxes stacked beside it to hide the damage. Only after it was unpacked did I discover the damage. I immediately contacted them. It took a full week for a response, that's only after I emailed them a second time. Arrangements were made to have someone come out to try to fix my sofa. The appointment t was made for 11:00, at 11:30 I received a call from the repairman telling me was at my place. I soon discovered Mike had given him the wrong address. The repairman finally shows up at 12:30. Alternative we're offered of how to repair my broke sofa. The repairman Brad did what he wanted to do which was cheapest, that's after making a sexist comment. After arguing with me about not knowing what I was doing. He tried to cover up his shoddy workmanship before I can inspect it. Brad actually began to leave my house with the sofa turned over and disassembled. He continued to call the owner of the moving company, Brian, who actually appeared to be interested in my concerns but in reality wasn't. Brian only spoke with Brad and not spoke with me because I called him. Brian admitted their men broke my sofa and knew it. The movers tried to cover up their mistake! There was no attempt to speak with me the customer. Brian offered another possible solution to actually fixing my sofa. I emailed pictures of the shoddy repairs. The boards on the sofa actually aren't flush. I email all requested information. Again another week passes after the email is sent. The response given is the the attempt for the repair was made and that is all they are required to do. The company knowingly broke my items and tried to cover it up. Hired a mygonist to fix the mistake to the moving company's specifications not the owner. I will never do business with this company again!!! All emails and photos are attached. read more

First, scheduling online and then working directly with Brian to schedule was extremely quick & simple. They had no problem accommodating our schedule (which we booked ~ 3 weeks out). I could not have been more impressed with this company and the three individuals with whom I had the pleasure of working. First of all, my wife and I (who live in the San Diego area) were arranging for a moving service for my daughter (who lives in the DC area). That fact alone can be a challenge! But the process was smooth as silk, thanks to excellent communication from Brian (via yelp message and email). He assessed our needs, asked the right questions, and in a professional, friendly, straight-forward way set us up for a stress-free move. These guys are great because they really go the extra mile. I was moving from a two-bedroom basement apartment to a house where my room is on the second floor - just one person, but two sets of stairs to content with, as well as the absurd narrowness of a basement apartment. First of all, I was quoted an hourly rate for two movers - the company sent out three, but charged me the same rate. The guys were really nice, quick, and professional - there was a slight snafu in my move (they locked their keys in their truck), and they apologized profusely, stopped the clock, and knocked a little bit of time off of the move at the end. Really nice, professional guys - I'll definitely call them whenever I move again. Here's the part that was the most impressive - I have a queen-sized bed/box spring, and knew from a roommate's move that the box spring wouldn't fit up the stairs. The guys who were moving me in didn't have the right saw, so another guy, Brian, came out around 10 PM and did this cool thing where he sawed through part of the box spring, allowing it to move up the stairs. Despite having yet another person come out, I wasn't charged extra. Afterwards, one of the movers set up my bed frame because I said I wasn't entirely sure I knew how it worked - undoubtedly saving me a half hour or more of frustration and fighting with screws. And, more importantly, my bed is up on the box spring, whereas my roommate's box spring has been stuck in our living room for the past few months, apparently. This is one of those rare companies that make you wonder how everyone is motivated to perform at such a high level. Brian was our contact and his responsiveness is amazing. We had a two man crew come in BEFORE our move to help bring down boxes from the attic which we had wanted to sort through for years. These guys did it in two hours AND hauled a big truck load away. What should have been a chore was instead a huge relief. Fast, efficient... DONE. And super courteous to boot. On the big day, we had a five man crew take charge of a four-bedroom house and to say it was astonishing is an understatement. They talk with you, work out a system and move with all due care and efficiency. Each one was great and, by the end, we were grateful we had been in such good hands. A-plus guys, incredible work ethic, and the quote was pretty much spot on, something all the dudes really huffed to make happen. So much so, they deserve mentioning by name: Steve, Eric, Wayne, Eddie and James-- super great guy and truck maneuverer extraordinaire. He's got mad skills. I still don't understand how it all got done in one day. On top of which, I collected estimates from various movers and these guys came in lowest. Moving is hard. If I could give this company LESS than one star, I most definitely would!!! The men who came to pack were professional, respectful, and thorough. I would most definitely want them to come back; however, when having to deal with the management/manger, BRIAN FITZGERALD, it was way below standard. I can not believe he is allowed to talk or deal with people! His response to me regarding the damage that occured during the packing was "Oh, well, there is nothing we can do." He never mentioned me sending the information regarding the damaged items. That caught me totally off guard that I had to ask is this was a real company. I have moved a lot of times during my military career and have never dealt with management or customer service like this from a company. This is UNACCEPTABLE! Please read this before using Suburban Solutions We have moved numerous times and this was hands down the very worst experience we ever had. We have had furniture damaged in the past and the movers have always dealt with us in a forthright manner. We understand in a move damage can occur. However, in the case of Suburban Solutions, not only was there significant damage that was the result of quite inadequate loading (they did not bring enough furniture pads and even started raiding our own personal blankets and bubble-wrap when they ran out), but they also flat out lied to us. See the pictures of the damage we posted at: moveralert.blogspot.com. Also check their rating at the Better Business Bureau. It is, as of this writing, a B-. We also posted this same review on Yelp. It was mysteriously deleted, twice. Another poster on Yelp indicated that they had 400 negative reviews deleted. That seems like a high number, but given our experiences with deleted posts on Yelp, combined with their rating at the Better Business Bureau, I would not be surprised at a larger number of deleted negative reviews. A 5 star rating makes no sense to us. We suggest not using this mover unless you are desperate. Here is what happened: At the loading, we expressed several times concerns for the handling of our furniture because we noticed that it was not being wrapped very well, and some things were not being wrapped at all. Each time, we were assured that it was just fine, well-loaded, and not to worry, even when we reminded them that this was being moved across the country. Once the truck pulled away, we did not receive any of the communication from the driver that had been promised to us by the owners of the company. When we became concerned that we had not heard from the driver, the owner, Brian, informed us that the driver had lost his cell phone, but that he would be contacting us very soon. We did not hear from him or anyone else from the company until 2:30am the night before the delivery. He gave us an estimate of a delivery time the next day, and we never heard from him again until 2 1/2 hours after he was supposed to arrive. There are certainly pay phones at many locations and a delay of this kind should certainly have merited a phone call. Before the days of cell phones movers still communicated with their clients. When the driver finally did arrive he apologized, but he was all alone. We had been told by both owners (Chris and Brian) that we would have two additional movers to help unload the truck that would be contracted through a local moving company. However, rather than hire additional help, the driver insisted that he could do it himself. Mind you, we had large antique pieces of furniture and very expensive and heavy outdoor patio furniture, and there was no dolly or hand-cart. As a result, my brother had to provide a dolly and help with some of the unloading. In addition, my brother had to provide the tools and make the repair to a leg of a large antique secretary that was broken off during the move. This was in part possibly due to the fact that the items that were secured when the truck left Alexandria were now loose in the back of the truck when it arrived. As the truck was being unloaded, we saw severe damage to the outdoor furniture and the larger antique pieces (mind you, we would later find a lot more damage that was hidden by the driver...). We contacted the owner, Brian, who said he was devastated that these pieces were not better protected, and the driver said that, as project manager, he takes full responsibility for the damage. He said we had to pay in full for the move, or the driver could not leave the premises, but that he would hold the check until we were able to fully assess the damages and come to an amicable resolution. BUT Here's where the story gets even worse: Brian cashed our check while we were still working on resolution AND once he cashed the check, he refused to talk to us any further and simply directed us via email to the insurance company. And if you think dealing with a mover is bad, try dealing with an insurance company! THEN, we found a variety of additional damage that the driver hid during the unload. For example, he broke the leg off of the outdoor table, and propped the table up on one of the chairs so it was not readily visible. To make matters worse, presumably so we would not find the damage while he was still there, the driver discarded the broken leg, thus making the cast aluminum table impossible to repair - and since the table is no longer manufactured, the entire set of very expensive matching furniture ($17,000 worth) would no longer match even if it was able to be repaired. Other broken and scarred items were hidden among the boxes, the walls were damaged behind the boxes that were piled up, and several custom cushions for the furniture, that we believe he used to pad the furniture - because he did not bring enough moving blankets -- were completely missing, again P read more

My husband and I moved from Falls Church, VA to Denver, CO in November, and I had heard horror stories about using one of the big moving companies to move our stuff across the country...not having our stuff for 2 weeks? Bedbugs? Lost stuff? No thank you. I found Suburban Solutions and from the beginning to the end of the process, I was beyond pleased with our service. Charlie was an excellent account manager, and he dealt with my (MANY) questions. A desk was damaged in the move and he was quick with the reimbursement process and reimbursed in full. The cost was about $500-1,000 more than if we had gone with a big moving company or PODS, but we had the security of knowing exactly when our stuff would arrive in Denver. I absolutely think that is worth the extra cost and am glad I paid it. I can't say enough good things about our lead moving crew member, Reggie. He organized the movers at our townhome in Falls Church, where the move was fast and efficient. He drove the truck across the country (which allowed us to drive our own cars and our 3 animals at the same time, and not have to worry about our stuff) - and he gave us updates letting us know where he was and how everything was doing in the truck. He also coordinating the load-out in Denver, and despite the fact that there were 3 flights of stairs, he kept a smile on his face the whole time. He was super friendly and communicative, and even dealt with my super detailed packing list and color coded boxes (whereas I think many other movers may have rolled their eyes at it...). Suburban Solutions contracted another moving company in Denver to help unload the truck, and they were absolutely fantastic as well. All in all, I would use Suburban Solutions again in a heartbeat, and have already recommended them to friends and family. read more

Pros: the scheduling process was great. I'm a detail-oriented person so I gave a detailed itemized list of what furniture needed to be moved and how many boxes we wanted moved, as well as the access info (elevator, walkup, etc) details for the job. The guys in the office (Brian and Mike) were great confirming everything with me. The movers also appear to have moved everything intact (so far, I haven't unpacked it all yet) and seemed like nice guys. Cons: the actual move was...less than great. The movers were a bit late (started 30 min - 1 hour later than scheduled) and started the job off by complaining that there were stairs, then acted very surprised that we had boxes to move (even though these details were outlined in the quote from Suburban and in multiple emails and phone calls). I spoke with Mike when they said this, since I was confused that maybe something had gone wrong, and he admitted sometimes the movers don't read the details...? The guys seemed to take decent care when moving things though we did have one pretty serious drop involving a safe, but they also bickered with each other during the entire move ("you're not moving enough stuff" etc). And, despite requesting for hardwood floor protection at both locations, it wasn't used. Thankfully, they were decently careful so I haven't seen any damage to the floors so far but it was more than a little annoying. Did they destroy my stuff? Not from what I've seen so far. Was it a great experience? Not really. Hence the three stars. UPDATE: So I originally gave them three stars and sent an email to the company outlining further details, really just to give a heads up. Brian called me back within a few hours and apologized for the whole situation and gave a partial reimbursement for the experience. They came right on time, they were all wearing masks and keeping a COVID-appropriate distance from us, and were all extremely nice and friendly (Jeff, Wayne, Starsky and Vaughndale).. My wife and I recently moved from Washington, DC to Indiana. We had been unimpressed by our research on the big cross-country movers, so we were highly relieved to learn Suburban Solutions provided cross-country moving services. We had previously used Suburban Solutions for two moves within the District and had been highly pleased with their service on both occasions. They brought the same professionalism and efficiency to our cross-country move. To start, Mike and Brian were incredibly easy to work with to get the move quoted and organized. They even helped me through a minor freak-out when I thought we had too many boxes for the truck (spoiler alert: we didn't; everything fit easily). On the day of the load in DC, they sent a four-man crew, each of whom made it a point to introduce himself and get a run-down on all the key items. The crew worked very efficiently and finished the load for our three-bedroom, 2000-sqft home in about two hours. They showed great care and attention to detail throughout. No dings or scratches on any items or walls. After the load was complete, one member of the crew drove the truck from DC to Indiana, making an overnight stop to break up the trip. We actually had to push it to make sure we got to the new house before he did! At 9AM the next morning, we was at the house and ready to unload. The local moving crew that had been subcontracted to help in Indiana was late arriving, but that didn't stop our guy from Suburban Solutions: he unloaded probably a third of the truck himself before the local crew arrived. Our only regret in making this move with Suburban Solutions is that we've moved out of the area and won't get to use them for our next move. ;-) read more

When I called, Brian was friendly and professional. He took my info and emailed a quote within what seemed like minutes, complete with a detailed explanation of what the move would entail. The quote was reasonable. But friends of ours came through unexpectedly to help so I didn't need to book the move. My sisters who used Suburban Solutions said the movers they had were professional and efficient- they were in and out and did their jobs really well. When I emailed Brian to let him know that I wouldn't be needing to book the move, he followed up with a response wishing me well with my move.
