Boris and Paul are the best movers that I or anyone I know has used. My friend is a realtor and he recommended them to me. Another friend had recommended them to him. When realtors are recommending a mover to other realtors, you know it's legit. The reason is simple: Their rates are absolutely unbeatble. I'm sure there are plenty of good, reliable movers out there, but prices 30-40% lower than ANY competitor is unheard of. We used them three times in 2020 (It was a tough year!). Just moved with 7th state. Paul and Boris arrived at least 10 minutes early and called to let me know they were ready to set up. They were also very patient when one of the cleaning guys in the building inadvertently block the loading dock and needed to move. After that was corrected, they came right to my door and loaded everything up very efficiently, even wrapped up my couch in like 2 minutes! I was running a few minutes late to my new place and needed to still get the elevator key from the leasing office. These guys are pros: they had started to bring some of the boxes to my apartment and just kept the train moving without being asked. They also communicated clearly throughout. The prices they charge are more than fair considering the level of service they put out. They also use a web quote system that keeps everything transparent (you can also create an inventory). 7th State is truly amazing. I've never hired movers before, but I've heard the horror stories from my friends. I just moved from Bethesda into downtown DC, and 7th state was wonderful! Booking was easy, the pricing is transparent, and they responded to all of my messages immediately. It ended up raining/snowing today, and they had enough plastic wrap for my couches and mattresses. They arrived about 15 minutes early and wasted no time getting to work loading my boxes and furniture. They were very efficient when loading and unloading stuff, and even helped build my bed frame. I was meant to move on a Monday and scheduled a move with another company on the Sunday before. This company cancelled on me on Sunday, I moved it to Monday, and then cancelled on me AGAIN! I was in tears and desperate. So many moving companies either couldn't or wouldn't help me out... these guys stepped up and quick! They were there the next day bright and early! Even on time/5 minutes before. I showed them where to grab the stuff, and they did the work easy peasy without needing guidance while I was on a work call. Very efficient and smooth moving process - they showed up slightly early with an extra guy and got everything done in under 2.5 hours. They were careful and nothing was damaged, which I was very grateful for. My only gripe with this company was that they asked me to move all of the delicate items or items that might get dirty in their truck myself, otherwise they would have to charge me extra to wrap each item. I have never experienced this with other moving companies - typically if something needs to be wrapped to protect it, they will take care of it and it's included in the base fee. These extra costs were not made clear to me upfront, so when faced with the decision mid-move, I had to go along with it. Every time they came across a delicate item they'd say "you can put this in your car", however I did not actually have access to my car at that time (something they didn't seem to consider). I ended up having to make 2 trips back to my old apartment after I was able to get my car to collect items such as lamp shades, large pictures that were hanging on the walls, pillows, jewelry, etc. I would absolutely use this company again, however next time would try to wrap every item and place it in a box prior to their arrival to avoid them refusing to carry loose "delicate" items or charging me extra to wrap each item. read more

My experience with this company was upsetting at the least. Since I picked them based on the stellar reviews here, I want to make sure I contribute. If you have health concerns regarding Covid, I do not recommend using them. I have underlying conditions that make me high risk and therefore have to limit human contact to the least. I let them know in advance that my friends will be there to oversee the move. As the move went, I did not feel safe because: 1) when there was a mix up at the new address, they tried to reach me in my car. They didn't call my friend's number that I asked them to use. 2) They very aggressively asked me to run to an ATM to pay them cash. I explained to them repeatedly that I could not take the risk of running outside and trying to find an ATM with my health condition but they didn't budge. Throughout the phone conversation, they were loud and their tone threatening even after I asked them to stop yelling. The worst thing about them is that when I tried to reach Boris to discuss the situation, my email went ignored. I will not know why my experience varied so dramatically from the others. Maybe it's because I am a petite woman? Maybe because they knew I was in a vulnerable health condition? I can only guess. But please take my experience into account if you share similar concerns. Thanks. Update: I am not at all surprised by the owner's response. I do feel nervous by how they imply to know who I am but again if this review can help people to make educated decisions regarding their health and safety, it'd be worth it. read more
