I have moved both business and home several times within the DMV area and used 4 separate moving companies. I have had such a positive experience working with Jake (the owner) and his crew. You should do yourself a favor and call him stat. I found so much comfort in being able to have direct communication with the owner. You know that he wants to make you happy because it's his business. He is very responsive, professional, and has made my life SO much easier. I appreciated their patience, flexibility, responsiveness, honesty, and continued support weeks after my move. Most helpful for me was that they're weren't any language barriers. The men are all bilingual so you can get more done because that barrier is removed. I am not a frivolous spender but I do believe there are certain things one should not skimp on: Plastic Surgeons, Lawyers, Therapists, and Movers. Call D1!

We had such a great experience with D1 Moving on Sunday! John and Dominic were absolutely wonderful. They were patient, respectful, kind, strong and speedy!! The price was very reasonable, they arrived on time, communicated/asked questions, wrapped/taped/took such good care of my belongings, and their teamwork was simply fascinating to watch as they maneuvered the furniture up and down the stairs. Needles to say, my expectations were far exceeded. I've read through the other reviews and I'm not surprised this company is so highly rated - I would refer these guys to anyone and everyone. Thanks, D1!

I had had a great experience with them just last year when I last moved and knew they'd be able to get the job done again. My project was immediately responded to and they were able to help me move two weeks later on their soonest available date. The three movers, Pat, Renaldo, and Kevin were incredible. Communication leading up to the move and theday of was great. They were able to move all my large furniture within 2 hours. Everything was wrapped carefully and efficiently. They were kind and thoughtful, helping me make adjustments to the furniture layout once we got to the destination. Their positivity through one of the hardest situations I've ever gone through was much-needed and made me feel confident in entering this next chapter. I even had a last minute change to the destination (originally everything was going into storage but I ended up finding an apartment just in time), and the professionalism and patience from the entire Bookstore team through this change was excellent. Pricing was reasonable yet again and came out to about $500 (excluding tip) for the truck fee and moving of 16 large items. Thank you Bookstore Movers for helping me when I needed it most!

We were disappointed with our recent experience with Bookstore Movers. The crew was polite, but the…read moremove felt much slower and less efficient than it should have been. We had a dedicated elevator, yet workers often brought items down only one or two at a time. I also saw team members on their phones or standing around in rooms and hallways instead of actively moving things. These delays added up quickly. The crew also misplaced parts of our bed frame, and the pieces had to be found before it could be reassembled. That alone added nearly an hour to the move. Because the move took much longer than expected, the final cost was significantly higher than the estimate we received. We were also charged based on an arrival time that was recorded as ten minutes earlier than when the crew actually arrived. The team was courteous, but given the inefficiency, added time, and higher final price, we would not use Bookstore Movers again. This is unfortunate, because we had been happy with them in previous moves.

So after receiving a few quotes from a handful of businesses, I went with Potomac Moving due to the speed of their response, clarity in communication, pricing and overall warmth and professionalism. In our first phone call to walk though my needs, they were very assuring and accommodating, which is a such a relief in the midst of stress and coordination that comes with planning for a move. They were also always very responsive in the few times that I reached out between the time I paid the deposit and the actual move. A night or two before, I sent at email regarding wardrobe boxes, since I was debating whether or not I should buy and have a few delivered to me. The owner responded quickly, assuring me that wardrobe boxes were tried, true and if I wanted to buy any directly from them that I could. That ended up being a great call, because they were able to properly enforce the boxes so that even the boxes filled with my heaviest coats remained in tact. On the day of the move, the movers were communicative regarding their arrival time. They were also very nice and hard working. I had a few large furniture items that needed to be disassembled and they ended up being quite beasts to tackle. But they worked diligently to break them down. Once it came time to move things to my new place, that was a breeze. One gesture that I thought was just so classy, was the owner called in the middle of the move to check-in on how things were going - I really appreciated that. Overall, would definitely recommend PMC - they're easy to work with, fair and transparent about pricing and you're sure to be met with professionalism!

I wholeheartedly agree. Their website was easy to navigate and easier still to create a rough inventory of your belongings (take your time and confirm, room to room. Trust me: you own more than you think.) Once I'd submitted that Charlie reached out to me shortly after and was my point of contact throughout. I was able to make updates and adjustments up to the week of the move and even then I got 2 confirmations, one a day prior and one the morning of the move. A 4-man crew managed to move a 2-bedroom condo and a 4-bedroom condo into a single townhouse with a single truck, 1 trip between each location, and all in under 8 hours. Good men that busted their asses all day and earned every penny of their salary. TMM is not cheap but this is very much a case of quality work coming at an worthwhile rate; sometimes you need to pay more for the best service. You can certainly find less expensive movers but you would be hard-pressed to find movers of a higher quality. Book sooner than later, feed your movers, tip your movers.

But when you tell your client "we'll get everything and you won't even have to come back" I expect that exactly. Instead, a few days later when I made it back into town to grab the second set of keys, I found a car load worth of stuff and the door unlocked. - Took the primary door off its hinges, and didn't put it back on. Somehow, my friends, who are not professional movers, didn't need to do this. But the professional movers did? And didn't put it back? - were not former Marines or US military. And this one might be the biggest deal to me. Don't advertise that you nearly exclusively hire former military and veterans, then send me an entire team of none. As the daughter of a Marine, I I consider this to be on the level of stolen valor; you're exploiting the veteran status when all you did was hire people off the street. - the management and customer service team won't return my emails or phone calls. Today I'll be calling the Spotsylvania County Better Business Bureau as well as the Fairfax County Better Business Bureau to figure out log a complaint. If you can't complete the business transaction, you shouldn't be allowed to do business.

First, allow me to express my gratitude to this amazing company and their professional staff. The team consisted of four movers who, upon arrival, walked through the premises to fully understand the scope of the job before getting started. They listened carefully and worked with precision and determination to ensure our move went smoothly. Every member of the team treated us with respect and inspired confidence in their work. They didn't allow me to lift a single thing -- not even a trash bag I had put together. I am so impressed that I can't wait to tell my friends, and I'm sure my husband will be recommending them to his coworkers as well. The movers even offered helpful advice on furniture placement, which made perfect sense after careful consideration. We have purchased our forever home, but if you are looking for a reliable, affordable, and professional moving crew, I highly recommend giving EZ Moving and Storage a call. Mr. Petro reviewed my inventory list, calculated the distance from point A to point B, and provided a more-than-fair quote with no added charges. The price he quoted was exactly what we paid. None of our items were damaged. In fact, they assembled our beds better than the company we purchased them from! I apologize for the length of this review, but that reflects just how pleased we are with this company. Job well done, and thank you for helping make our house feel like home. Under Pat's guidance, both crews on Sunday and Monday respected our requirements for shoe coverings and masks. On the day of heavy furniture lifting and transport, shoe covers were not used for safety reasons, which we fully understood and respected. Pat also kept us informed of each day's arrival time, and the crew showed up right on the minute. In 40 years of military service and countless moves overseas and stateside, this has been the best moving experience I have had. Pat even made sure we knew which of Fort Meade's many entry gates to use, including the "jackpot gate" he's happy to tell you about. This is only the first leg of our cross-country journey, and we look forward to the same professional service at our destination. We had previously sent an email after your restoration guy visited and are still seeking a resolution, but unfortunately, we have yet to receive a response. The lack of communication and effort to address this matter is unacceptable. We have been incredibly patient throughout this ordeal. It's almost November now, and we were moved back onto the property in June. Since then, we have been without essential items and have had numerous broken items. In some cases, I have had to pay out of my own pocket to replace necessary items. We genuinely hope that this issue will be resolved and that we will receive compensation for the inconvenience and damage caused. If not, we plan to seek legal action. This experience has been one of the worst we have encountered, and it is completely unacceptable. We had hoped to support a veteran-owned company and were confident that we would be treated fairly, given our shared veteran status. Unfortunately, this has not been the case.

Matthew's Nationwide Moving

(74 reviews)

Gainesville , VA to Bend, OR: So, I'm going to start this…read morereview by saying I was immersed in quotes from 2 nationwide, (and they hate being called that) "brokers" for two weeks prior to looking at this company. I had a first quote from a "binding" company (for 10.5k lbs) which was on the very high side, and could have gone higher, if the local movers "felt" they were doing more work than was estimated. Hmmm, not comforting at all. They could actually stop the packing process. The quote could not have gone less than originally estimated. I had a second quote that was "non-binding" that was a full $6K less for a thousand pounds less (for 9.5k lbs) that could have gone higher based on the weight at the scale pre-load and post load. Both companies are under the Sirva umbrella of companies and would be well recognized by name (but if you did a yelp review search they rate at 2.5 or less). I just had an uneasy feeling about both when they each estimated upwards (and the second company by $4k) after I questioned their pricing models. This is what really had me concerned: They don't like to be called "brokers" even though they farm out the loading, the trucking, and the unloading. Additionally, you are often loaded with other customers along the way, which could result in damage (when off and on loading at the warehouses) and other obvious concerns when multiple people/companies are looking at and handling "your stuff". The latter part of this equation is what concerned me most. I have NEVER done a coast to coast move on my own, and had zero assistance from anyone in my family, plus being from the east coast I do not innately trust others. So, two days before I needed to make a decision, I "yelped" "nationwide movers" and Matthew's Nationwide Moving popped up. Lo and behold, they had a 5 star rating from DC to Bend, OR. I'm like, "no way, that's AI", but I left an email and a voicemail and thus the journey began. I got a call from the company, got emails from the company, got a call from Matthew, the owner, and in two days he was at my place to give me a quote. Jessica is who I dealt with mostly for the communications. The moving quote was straightforward, but the packing (labor and materials was not) so I called and emailed to get a "good enough for government work" estimate for a house my size and weight. I felt comfortable enough because even if it exceeded the labor and materials it would still be less than the other estimates of the two established companies I was pondering for over two weeks. One other thing: each of the two other companies required a $200 deposit- which was no biggie in a move of this magnitude; but they required full payment prior to either the truck unloading, or the truck even actually showing up to unload. What business and what a dummy you would be to pay for something either not yet delivered or not yet received? That is not proper business protocol and something that really made me think twice. Matthew's Nationwide Moving asked for a $200 deposit to book , and nothing until after they unpacked and made sure everything was delivered as agreed upon. That's what sealed the deal for me. Fast forward to 4 weeks of prep for me and the last 7 days of packing, moving into the truck, and delivering, (we drove for 5 days with our cat George- so definitely traumatizing). Obviously they drove the same distance! I can say that it was all and more than I could ever had hoped for in a team of utmost professional and truly caring men who fulfilled my husband's dream of moving to this new place I now call home. That I know the people who packed me out, drove the load, and packed me in is and was the guarantee that sold me on this life altering journey. Matthew, Tyrone, and TJ- (and the others) you are my heroes. Thank you for helping me with this very emotional and physical transition to my new life. I don't know how you do it- but somehow, you have done it, and I am so happy to have placed my trust in you. End to end- you did it. Thank you, again!
