TMM came highly recommended from a friend and previous customer who was "so upset that they weren't available for their second move" because they'd done such an excellent job the first time. I wholeheartedly agree. Their website was easy to navigate and easier still to create a rough inventory of your belongings (take your time and confirm, room to room. Trust me: you own more than you think.) Once I'd submitted that Charlie reached out to me shortly after and was my point of contact throughout. I was able to make updates and adjustments up to the week of the move and even then I got 2 confirmations, one a day prior and one the morning of the move. A 4-man crew managed to move a 2-bedroom condo and a 4-bedroom condo into a single townhouse with a single truck, 1 trip between each location, and all in under 8 hours. Good men that busted their asses all day and earned every penny of their salary. TMM is not cheap but this is very much a case of quality work coming at an worthwhile rate; sometimes you need to pay more for the best service. You can certainly find less expensive movers but you would be hard-pressed to find movers of a higher quality. Book sooner than later, feed your movers, tip your movers. read more

The movers who moved me: - rigged the door lock so it would stay unlocked. Which is fine if you're actively moving things in and out. But when you tell your client "we'll get everything and you won't even have to come back" I expect that exactly. Instead, a few days later when I made it back into town to grab the second set of keys, I found a car load worth of stuff and the door unlocked. - Took the primary door off its hinges, and didn't put it back on. Somehow, my friends, who are not professional movers, didn't need to do this. But the professional movers did? And didn't put it back? - were not former Marines or US military. And this one might be the biggest deal to me. Don't advertise that you nearly exclusively hire former military and veterans, then send me an entire team of none. As the daughter of a Marine, I I consider this to be on the level of stolen valor; you're exploiting the veteran status when all you did was hire people off the street. - the management and customer service team won't return my emails or phone calls. Today I'll be calling the Spotsylvania County Better Business Bureau as well as the Fairfax County Better Business Bureau to figure out log a complaint. I had to call a friend halfway through the move to come help so that we would finish in a reasonable time frame. The lead guy told my friend that his workers go slow on purpose so that they get paid more. My friend and I ended up carrying as many boxes as they did. Although we used 2 Marines Moving successfully in the past, the current company is not what they used to be. We contracted for a flat rate move in a 20' truck for a relocation from VA to NC with the agreement that if it fits, it ships. When Louis called to confirm the move the night before, he asked if we wsnted a bigger truck for an additional cost -- we said no. The movers arrived in a 26' truck and there was no discussion about changes to the signed contract. Loading went well and the delivery was scheduled for the next day. When we called the next day to confirm the delivery, we were told by Louis there would be an additional cost because of the bigger truck and the weight of the load. While perfectly willing to pay fair value labor and gas, the additional cost of the truck and poundage without discussion is unacceptable. Terrible experience. None of the five men I interacted with -- from on the phone to email to in person--- was military. How can they still claim they are a military organization? The truck was a Budget rental truck. Three guys took 11.5 hours to move a 2-BR apartment to another apartment a mile away. Broke a vintage item and left it in the loading dock and didn't tell me. My drill (which they borrowed to remove art since they didn't bring any correct tools) is missing. Another item broken. Did not cover furniture with blankets. Had no shrink wrap. Cut boxes and duct taped the cardboard to fit around artwork. Company manager refused to reimburse. My credit card company did the investigation and didn't pay them a cent. read more

Stumbled on this while looking for something else and it triggered some bad memories. Used them a decade ago to support vets. Mostly teenagers who had no training or equipment, it was miracle there were no injuries; they used our tape guns, handcart and dolly. Delivered the small items & boxes instead of large furniture first and then didn't know what to do; I threw up my hands and said put the small stuff in the garage temporarily until the furniture truck arrives. Furniture finally arrived and most of the rest was still in the garage at 11:30 pm. I asked the team lead what his plan was to finish the move and got a thousand yard stare. I said move the boxes blocking a sink and toilet and on our bed and just go so we can at least sleep. We found someone else to move all the belongings from garage to house. Many damaged items; they ran out of packing paper, then used our clothing to wrap things, then just put things unprotected in boxes. I entered into a moving contract with Two Marines to pick up, store, and deliver my household goods from Lorton, VA to Stafford, VA. The scenario included Two Marines Moving picking up my household goods for storage o/a 3 March 2022. I was selling my home in Lorton and moving into a new home in Stafford, VA. The home in Stafford, VA was not ready for move in until 31 May 2022. When Two Marines delivered my household goods, there were missing and broken property and even items from other people. I filed a damage claim and Two Marines Moving agreed to pay $700.00 for the damages and missing items, which was far less than actual loss. Problem: After agreeing to pay for my claim in August of 2022 and to this date 29 Jan 2023, Two Marines Moving refuses to communicate with me or send my refund. I am so disappointed and angry with this veteran owned company. I had a decent experience with Two Marines in 2019 when I hired them to help offload a truck from a DITY move. I hired them in 2022 when I moved off base to a house we purchased. I was quoted 3 movers for 3 hours to do the job and $1015. I have a 3 bedroom. The DAY BEFORE the move they called to tell me that the person who gave me the quote was "a problem and no longer with the company" and my move would actually take longer and be more expensive. Because I had to vacate my on base house, I had no choice but to keep these movers. They offered to add two additional movers and the 3 mover rate which I appreciated. The day of the move they were scheduled to start at 9 and showed up 30 minutes late and non of them were able to get on base so I had to go through the sponsorship process and we didn't get to my house until 10:45. One of them stunk of weed and I'm surprised he got on. These were the slowest movers I've ever seen. There was no hustle, not urgency, nothing. It took them 5 hours to load my 3 bedroom house on a 26 foot truck. It was about a 30 minute drive to the new house and took an additional 2 hours to offload. At that point my wife and kids were home and our new house was a disaster of boxes and unwrapped furniture everywhere. I had to get my 3 and 5 r old kids bedrooms ready for them to go to bed as they were finishing offloading at 7pm. All in all it took 10 hours of my day. They busted a hole in the hallway drywall at my old house, broke plates and bowls, dropped my cloth headboard on the wet, rainy driveway, broke glasses, busted the corner of my fully wrapped nightstand, and broke the cup holders off my peloton. I'd like to share my experience with you so you can avoid making the same mistake. Two Marines Moving seemed very organized, exacting in their quote, and had good follow up before the move. Plus, I wanted to support our returned troops. But that is where the professionalism ended. One item was broken while moving it around in the truck, before we left for the new house. The other items were damaged in route. Broken glass, broken wood furniture, dinged walls and scrapped floors at both locations; the damages are over $4K. It was gross negligence. Here's how they get away without financial responsibility. When you make your claims they point to a valuation guideline put forth by the Federal Government, which is pennies ($0.60 per lb.). So, if they loose your $10,000 diamond earrings, they say they are only worth $0.60. That's all you'll get: 60 pennies. I tried to explain that they didn't take proper precautions and care to avoid unreasonable damages, but they refused to acknowledge that or negotiate reasonable compensation. Like the idea of helping fellow veterans so used them to move me from an apartment to a house. In 50 years of moving cross county and overseas in the military and federal government I have never ever experienced such a horrendous move. It's almost like they went out their way to destroy things. Hoe do you break a solid wood china cabinet? They were two hours late arriving, brought a truck that was too small so had to wait an hour for a second truck to come. they started at 1100 and did not finish until 0130!! They spent 2-3 hours shrink wrapping items that didn't need to be shrink wrapped and didn't wrap others that should have been. Since their services are based on time they front load it by doing this to ensure the minimum is met. because once they hit 4 hours they stopped Shrink wrapping. They tore the fabric on a chaise lounge. Beware and use at your own risk! Then to get out of paying for damages they filed bankruptcy and are now operating again. They literally crushed a 34" box down to 19". The only reason my deceased mother's china survived is because after so many years moving I know how to pack. demolished a chest of drawers and tried to hide it. Bike lamps. To top that off they left my treadmill sitting on the lawn in the rain uncovered for an hour. If I could give zero stars I would. You couldn't pay me to let them move my things again. read more

In April 2022, I sold my home and hired Two Marines Moving to move my furniture out of my home and store the items while I searched for a new home. The move out and storage went great and the mover and office staff were amazing - five stars. Fast forward to August when I hired them to move the items out of storage and into my new home. The movers were very professional, but in the process several areas of drywall were damaged. They instructed me to file a claim and the company would take care of the repair. That was nearly four months ago and the repair work has yet to be coordinated and complete. Communication with Peyton Carter in the Claims Department started off strong and over the course of three months I was led to believe that actual coordination with a contractor was being done. Whether this occurred or not, I could not tell you. However, in mid-November, I was contacted by Deana Monroe who stated that there had been some changes in the Claims Department and that she would be handling the issue now. I provided her with photos of the damage per her request and then it went "radio silent." Since November 15th there has been no communication via email or phone, even though I have tried via both. Bottom line, as an active duty Marine with close to twenty years of service, I do not recommend Two Marines Moving. While the work ethic and professionalism of the movers is great, I cannot say the same for the office staff. The lack of basic follow through, communication, and transparency is subpar and not representative of the use of "Marine" in the company name. If the company had just told me they were not going to cover the damage, then I would at least not wasted my and their time with trying to schedule something that they were not planning on holding themselves accountable for. read more

I was charged an extra 1K because the head guy on-site was told to "charge me extra so they can make enough money on this job". No Joke, that's what the guy told me flatly to my face while being all apologetic. Clearly, they don't hire people for intelligence. They take a lot of care with your items so that they are safely moved. They are caring and kind people. I signed up for the valet storage service when moving out of my condo to store my living room and bedroom furniture. I scheduled for an afternoon session because there is only a one hour minimum v two and I thought my stuff could probably be moved in a hour. Two marines called me about an hour before they were scheduled to arrive and said they could come early so I headed over to meet them. Two guys packed up my stuff. They wrapped everything in blankets and plastic wrap. Didn't have any issues with them damaging any walls or anything which I saw in some reviews. Will update when I get things back but I thought they were efficient and did a good job. The cost for storing my stuff is pretty reasonable. The moving costs were reasonable too. Thurs night they cancelled Friday pack, but assured me that extra people on Saturday would show up early and we would make up time. Two guys showed up Saturday at noon. I hired TMM for my move from a 1 bedrm in Arlington, VA as I used them in the past when they used professional staff. A crew of 3 staff that were not TMM showed up. I realized this was a subcontractor called Melroy Movers. Needless to say they were not Marines: I asked them where they served, they hadn't. I had 25 boxes packed/labelled and essentially furniture that fit in 640 sq.ft. of space. The subcontractors arrived @ 10:30am & it took them 12 hours 2 move me. They moved extremely slow & said the reason it was taking so long was because they were wrapping everything (not anything additional from what any moving company does??) & the elevator was around a corner. I blocked the freight elevator for this: one of them yelled at me when I asked them nicely to try & get this done faster because my booking window at the new building was past due, saying I should have stood by the elevator to make sure other people are not using it (this is a 10 story building??). They didn't have the tools to disassemble my bed frame & it was 4pm by the time a new person, their "supervisor" came with a tool box. They wrapped my bar table before realizing that the top didn't fit through the door & said that my couch that perfectly fit in the elevator when I moved in the building, no longer fit on the out. It took them 45 minutes to figure out how to make it fit. They took breaks: at any given time there was 1 person working & the other 2 MIA. Loading dock footage is available. They damaged 3 pieces of furniture & dirtied my walls. TMM quoted me $1850 on the high-end for this 4 hour job (which took 12 hrs.) & Melroy the subcontractor wanted to charge me $2750. I had to plea w/ TMM manager, Kevin, for a "discount", still in the end I had to pay $2450 to include the booking fee & deposit or they wouldn't leave my house. When they left they basically cussed me out. I am appalled w/ TMM & their business practices. I expected a certain level of service from a company that associates themselves w/ a respectable institution that means something in this country. I've used Two Marines Moving in the past and before booking I knew that their rates were expensive. I am willing to spend the extra money to help support fellow veterans and receive high quality service with the same attention to detail that I know I would provide to others if the roles were reversed. The initial quote over the phone went fine. I provided as many details as possible to ensure that the quote would be accurate. I needed a quick turn-around time on this move as my closing date had been moved up due to COVID-19. During the quote I explained that I had done the majority of the move myself and only needed a few pieces of furniture moved to a storage unit as well as assistance with packing and boxing up odds and ends. Roughly 30 minutes before the crew was to arrive, within the scheduled window, I received a call from the lead on the move asking to add another Marine to expedite. I was told that the additional body would be billed at the same labor rate but that having three people would take less time (I was originally quoted for two). This seemed reasonable so I agreed to the extra person, knowing that the total would likely increase, slightly. I wasn't given a revised quote at this time. When the crew arrived they were professional and courteous. They worked diligently and reasonably carefully. My walls did get banged up a little bit from carelessness and a very expensive couch did get dropped, but I did my best to look past a few accidents. Overall, I believed they were putting in work and effort to get the job done well. After the truck was loaded we went to the storage unit to unload. The crew unloaded things very quickly. Unfortunately, they were not overly concerned with placing items in the storage unit in an efficient manner. The goal appeared to be to unload the truck as quickly as possible in order to complete the job within the window. Again, I look passed this because it wouldn't be that big of a deal to rearrange some things at a later date. It was a minor frustration and inconvenience. When the job was complete and it came time to settle the bill, the total had doubled in price. I was expecting a reasonable increase due to them needing to furnish boxes and some blankets, but to double in price from the original quote is out of hand. While waiting for the lead to finalize things with dispatch, I learned that there was only one veteran on the job. The other two movers had never served in the military. I get it. The military isn't for everyone. But...this is unfortunate because Two Marines Moving markets themselves as a company owned and operated by veterans. I looked past many things on this move because I thought that I was supporting my fellow veterans. I was willing to accept the significantly higher price, the carelessness with a few items, the dropped couch, and the inconvenient placement of my items in storage. We hired them to help marines and local business and ignored a national moving company despite their lower quote. Two Marines Moving gave us a wrong quote, tried to charge us a lot more after the job, broke walls, fixtures, furniture, leaving marks on door frames, etc. They did not set up our patio furniture, left it wrapped outside. I have sent them pictures of the damages but they never responded. The worst part is despite over 30 calls they were totally unresponsive. Manager Chris Fennel promised to come to our new $1.3 million home to assess the damage and never showed up. I still called him again several times, no response. Unfortunately, my wife and I had an extremely poor experience with this company, which came recommended to us. We would strongly advise against using them. We booked Two Marines well in advance for a very basic move, from our one-bedroom apartment to a two-bedroom apartment only about a mile away. We had boxed and packed virtually everything before the movers arrived, and we had reserved the loading docks on both ends. We were given an estimated cost of about $1,100, with an estimated time of about three hours, with three movers. On move in day, only two movers arrived. What's more, they moved more slowly, and less efficiently, than any movers I've ever used - putting just a few things in the elevator each trip rather than filling it, etc. At one point, I took the dog on a walk for about 45 minutes, and came back to the situation looking almost the same as when I had left. The movers were not done until about 9 pm that night, having started at 10 am - in other words, it took them roughly 11 hours for about the most basic move imaginable. I've had moves across multiple states, and up multiple flights of stairs, that took less time. At this point, they presented us with a bill for approximately $2,000, or nearly double the estimate, even after accounting for us only paying for two movers rather than three. We paid the bill, because it was very late and we were exhausted. The next day, we promptly sent our contact at the company an email listing our concerns and asking for the bill to be reduced. Nearly a month later, we have received absolutely no response, not even a no. That's terrible customer service. A few other things are worth mentioning. At one point, when moving furniture into our new place, one of the movers smashed a dresser into the kitchen wall, denting it, which will definitely come out of our security deposit. We received nothing more than a cursory apology. At another point at our new place, the movers assured us that there was absolutely no way our (standard-sized) couch would fit in the elevator, or up the stairs. We were contemplating having to put the couch in storage, buy a new one, etc., but asked them to show us first. In just a few minutes, with the help of the concierge, we were able to fit the couch in the elevator without any trouble. That shouldn't be our job. I attempted to contact the moving company for 2 weeks after my move and the company was unresponsive. After they finally responded and accepted responsibility for the damaged dining table, I was told I would be contacted by a repair company. It has been over a month since that last email and several calls and emails I have yet to be contacted or have repairs been made. All phone calls lead to voicemails and no return phone calls. I just completed a local move here in Arlington, and my experience with Two Marines Moving was great. Getting an estimate and putting down a deposit was easy, and I never felt any pressure to book the move until I was ready, instead of other companies who call daily once you get your estimate. I had a few hiccups with the building I was moving out of, but my movers took it all in stride and never let it affect the move. I was impressed by how well they wrapped all of my furniture before moving it, as well as how quickly and efficiently they moved everything. I hired the service as they were recommended by a friend. Unfortunately, I didn't have the same experience she did. We had a 2 bedroom apartment with minimal furniture and had already donated our couches. It took 2 people over 4 hours to get everything on the truck. Mind you I only had 6 boxes that we packed ourselves and no small items. I heard one of them saying they couldn't unscrew my dining table, and so they took it out in one piece. This is a very heavy and bulky table which was severely scratched because they didn't break it apart nor cover it. My tufted headboard was also not covered and as a result it was dirty upon arrival. Last was my mirror nightstand, it was shattered in some areas. Overall a move that was supposed to be quick, took forever. Management did take time off from the final bill to compensate for the delay, and while I appreciated it, our bill was still over $800 to move a few items which weren't even properly cared for. Their insurance is garbage! At 6 cents per pound their money isn't going to cover anything. TERRIBLE!! I do not recommend this company. UPDATE: In response to the comment posted by the company. How can the issues with my move be a surprise when I spoke to one of your managers? I can't recall his name, but he approved discounting the time because the movers took too long. We haven't filed a claim because we just moved in. We've had plenty of things to take care and since we already know that the money we are going to receive is going to be nearly nothing, we've invested our time caring for the important things first. We are a veteran USMC family and huge supporters of everything Marine Corps, but we had to make people aware of how awful and stressful our moving experience was. read more

Let me start by saying that my husband is a retired marine and he was DISGUSTED with the outcome of our move and the lack of integrity of Two Marines Moving (TMM) company and their employees. Please don't believe the hype or mission of this company; it's just a ploy to hook you and charge you 3 times the amount of what they originally quote you. Plus they claim to be pro military but don't even offer a military discount to military families. Price: We decided to go with this company because my husband is a former marine and the owner gave my husband what he thought was a fair quote but we paid over $4000 to move us out of our one bedroom apartment ( they charged us $1000 to pack our items the day before the move and the rest on the day of the move). During our move the team chief kept hiking up the price (to include adding another man) which made a simple job that was suppose to take 5 hours turn into 10 hours with 4 workers (We originally moved a year ago and it took a different moving company with 4 movers 4 hours to do the same move). Movers: The movers had trouble lifting our items and the chief mover stated that they needed another mover to help them move. Please keep in mind we filled out an inventory sheet and they packed up our items the day before our move and charged us $1000 just to pack a few boxes. Plus during our move some of the workers were hanging around outside talking and texting and even asked us to help move some of our items. Insurance: We paid for the insurance they recommended because as a military family we know accidents happen. When I tried to point out all the items they broke and damages (scratched walls and floors) the movers made excuses as to why the item broke and the lead mover explained to me that those items weren't covered by the insurance we bought. Former Military: Please remember even though this company claims to hire former military members not all military members are law abiding citizens. Some of them have criminal records and were dishonorably discharged (speaking from experience with our move with TMM). Conclusion: DO NOT HIRE! We moved from Md. to Ga. Last June they wrapped everything in saran wrap not bubble wrap. Every table and floor lamp broke every thing in my house was broken my dinning room table and china cabinet looked like it fell out of the truck a chair broke my new king bed torn up coffee table to many things to mention I have been fighting since June to get them to fix or pay the damages it was always I have yo talk to the GM then they wanted pictures I sent at least 4-5 times showing damages then it was well we need yo know the weight of each piece we only pay 60 cents per pound had to guess on what a huge dinning room table and china cabinet and bed weighed these people are scammers now today we get a letter where they filed bankruptcy go figure read more

My wife hired Two Marines to move 9 pieces of furniture (three were rather heavy), a washer and dryer (that was only being off loaded into the garage) and 15 medium boxes on a local move on a Friday in mid March. The estimate was for a crew of 3 for 4 hours. When all was said and done she was charged for 7.5 hours and a bill nearly $1000 higher than estimated. In our many moves of our household goods, weighing between 18,000-20,000 lbs. they have typically been off loaded in 10-12 hours with a crew of 4/5. The crew was very nice and polite. The issue was the apparent lack of motivation. My wife called to vent her frustration more than once during the day, describing a team that moved very slow, lots of standing around and long periods of "thinking about how to do things." I arrived at the very end of the day and personally witnessed the crew lead putting feet on a couch and the rest of the crew sitting in the truck while the washer and dryer (the last items on the truck) were still waiting to be off loaded to the garage. My wife asked the crew chief if there was any reason his team could not unload the last two items on the truck while he did that. Her description was that this was how the entire day went. Then there was the damage. The furniture was wrapped well for the approx. 15 mile drive and we would not worry about a few dings in the wall or a scratch or two on the floors, except for all the other issues which just magnified the number of small points of damage done, to include one piece of furniture that has multiple dings and a cracked leg, despite the crew chief telling the team not to move it upside down because of "the crown." However, they did it anyway and the "crown" was damaged. When my wife showed me the bill after the team left, I called the company. The dispatch explained to me that it took 7.5 hours so that was the charge. I explained the pace, damage and extreme variance to the estimate and he said the supervisor was gone for the day but he would have him call me on Saturday (the next day). After hearing nothing, on Saturday afternoon I called back and was told that the supervisor was having a busy day and didn't have time to talk to me, but he could call me Monday. On Monday I received no call. On Tuesday at approximately 1130 I called back and was told by the dispatcher that he would contact the supervisor and see what he could do. After receiving no call back, I tried calling the main HQ line but it rang twice and then cut out-both the Virginia and DC lines, multiple times. I then left a message with the Director of Operations, followed by calling back the main line, finally getting through, but the nice woman on the phone explained that the supervisor was out and her computer was not working so she could not look up my wife's order, but would get the details and discuss it with her supervisor and someone would get back to me. After receiving no response again, I sent an email to the CEO and received no response as of the time of posting. I made an additional attempt to contact Two Marines 48 hours later and the (again very nice) woman on the phone told me that her supervisor had not responded to her email, but she would try again. I continued to call every 2-3 days not receiving any call backs, despite the same response each time that I will get a call back the next business day. On 1 April, I spoke to a different woman who said she did not have access to my files but would email me the operations manager's contact information immediately and have him call me on Monday. She confirmed my email and my phone number. When I received no email in three hours I called back and spoke to someone else who confirmed the same, and then did send me the email. I sent an email requesting the status of my claim to the operations manager and never received a response, either by phone or email. I continued to call frequently, occasionally getting someone on the phone, but never had any return calls from the messages left. On 3 May I got through and spoke to Cory, who stated he had "never heard any of this," and would "pull the file, look into it and call me back in a couple of hours." No call received. I have made dozens of calls over a period of Months. I continued to call but never again got through to a live person and as of mid July, I continue to wait on any kind of call back from management. I sent another email to both the CEO and chief of operations, with no response. They did eventually pay the damage claim (another long painful story). The customer should not have to do this much work to talk to someone and in this case, fail to do so. I understand that sometimes things take longer than expected, and there were stairs involved, but this was such a gross underestimation, coupled with poor service, an abysmal leadership response and an appearance that company policy is to ignore complaints and hope they go away, that I cannot recommend this company to anyone. read more

Bottom Line Up Front: Don't use this company for your move! I wish there was an option for zero stars!!! Very expensive rates and the quality of work is not that good. These were the worst movers I have ever used. Towards the end of the move, the crew didn't even bother wrapping large items (e.g. floor mirror, ping pong table, etc.). They also did a horrible job loading the truck (they just started stacking furniture on top of boxes). It also took them a really long time to complete the move. In contrast, we used A-Anytime Movers for the second leg of our move and the experience was night and day. They completed the same job in 3 1/2 hours and the cost was a third of what Two Marines charged. I really regret using Two Marines Moving for my move, but won't make the same mistake again. read more

Very disappointed in this moving company. What started with an estimate that was completely off, ended with the movers bringing in boxes upside down...boxes with hanging clothes upside down...defeated the purpose completely. Day 1 of packing was a disaster, which I put the blame on the estimator, who grossly underestimated our need, as well as the slow working packers. Day 2 my husband worked side by side with the packers/movers who showed up. They worked hard. There was not enough room in the truck and the supervisor would not send another truck. We ended up sending 6 truck loads in personal vehicles of what was left behind. Many items were broken, including a large piece of furniture. We were given a final bill after all items were offloaded at final destination, which we refused to pay, as we had paid in full the day before. This practice insures that you won't come back for compensation for broken or damaged items. read more
