Nova Express Movers made my move super easy. All of my belongings were transported from point A to pint B efficiently and at a very reasonable price. I had some large items (television, mattress, coffee table, piano, etc.) that were all handled with care and there was no damage. I was moving in Arlington from one apartment building to another, and the move was completed in 3 hours. They supply blankets, plenty of tape, and have all the tools necessary to make the move seem simple. They have plenty experience doing moves, and you could tell. If you pay with cash they give you a 5% discount. And if someone referred Nova Express Movers to you, they give you an additional 5%. Terrible company! During my move in December 2022 I was verbally harassed by an intoxicated mover, incurred over $5000 in damages to my personal goods (to include dropping an entertainment center down the stairs AND dropping a $2000 spin bike), and experienced negligence of personal belongings and a stolen bottle of alcohol. DOZENS of attempts to contact the company to collect on damages went unanswered. I even engaged with the BBB and Maryland Consumer Affairs who were also ignored. I also tried to reach out to NOVA to file a claim for the insurance coverage that comes with your moving expenses, and never received the information to place a claim. A company who doesn't take these situations seriously, is not a company you should trust. I am still waiting on a response, years later! This has not only been emotionally damaging, I have still not been able to replace/repair valuable furniture that was destroyed in this move. The owner was engaged on multiple occasions and chose to ignore the situation. The harassment I received during my move was Disgusting! I was whistled at, stared at, and called horrible names in Spanish during. No one should have to endure that! Not acceptable, ever! read more

Worst movers I've ever used. The time window of arrival was 9-10AM, though we were told despite the confirmation email received, the actual arrival time was 10:30AM. Either way, they showed up at 10:40 AM, which is still late. Movers were slow. You'd think this would equate to careful packaging of items, however almost every major furniture item was damaged one way or another (see pics). We attempted to resolve with customer service, but despite being elevated to a supervisor, we did not hear back despite multiple follow ups after more than a week. Best decision we made was to pay via credit card even though there's a fee, as we will be disputing the charge with our credit card company. read more

These movers are terrible and the company is made up of scam artists. I have moved studio apartments and one bedrooms multiple times, and they took the longest amount of time by several hours. They charge significantly by time and then purposely move SLOWLY so they can charge you more. They didn't even finish putting everything back together (see attached), I had to kick them out because the clock kept ticking. They also charge you for materials and they will be sure to use as much tape and packaging as possible to bump up that final bill. I needed industrial strength scissors just to cut through some of it. When we complained, the manager said he would ask his guys about it, as if they were going to say "yeah we were slow." It was a long and hard move on April 23, 2021, and the guys from NOVA Express did great right until the end, when they got really tired and damaged some furniture, including a night stand, bed, dresser, and a lamp. I have before and after photos. One mover fell from the truck ramp and used my dresser to cushion his fall. (Thankfully, he was OK. Broken furniture is nothing compared to a hurt mover). As directed, I filed a claim online a few days later, and followed up with multiple emails over the next month (I have screenshots). Nova Express's response: CRICKETS. Nothing. Not an email. Not a phone call. Pushing me to voicemail when I called. Did they even care that their mover fell? Completely unacceptable business practice. We used Nova Express Movers for our recent move and they were fantastic from the start to finish! I filled out an inquiry through their website and Dana reached out to me by the next business to discuss their process and pricing. We were able to schedule our timeslot without putting a deposit down, and they sent confirmations prior to moving day. An inventory list is requested prior to moving day (how many boxes, couches, TVs, etc.) and they are able to provide materials (boxes, wardrobe closet boxes, etc.) as well. Dana responded quickly to all of our emails which was much appreciated. On moving day, Rashad called me 30 minutes prior to his arrival to let us know he was on the way. His team also consisted of TK and Jevoy. They were all careful with our items, efficient, and quick! They also provided us with additional boxes (we underestimated how many we needed) and assisted us with partial packing. Once we arrived at our home, they were able to unpack everything out of the truck quickly. Our move was completed in about 6 hours. A few days later, their office manager called to follow-up to see how our experiences were and if there was anything they could do to improve, which was a positive sign that they are always looking to refine their services! Overall, the pricing is very fair for the area and I appreciated the swift communication as well as the friendliness and efficiency of the movers. I understand stuff happens during moves, but what earned the company one star is a lack of follow up. I have gotten no response from the company after submitting an online damage form. Really really bad experience with Nova Express Movers. 1. They arrived late. We were the first window of the day and they still arrived late. 2. There was a fresh smell of weed from the truck. Sure it is legal but doesn't exactly give you confident your stuff will be moved safely. 3. Movers took a really long time to do everything, which would be okay except see below. 4. Stopped to eat a sandwich, but didn't stop the clock. 5. Noticed multiple things were damaged, even after the long time they took to poorly wrap things. Sent a complaint to Anne and she won't respond back with next steps after a week. This seemed a bit like a con. They responded immediately and were super friendly to schedule us then it was all downhill from there. We still have not heard back on our damaged furniture. read more

We used this company for our last move a few months ago during the middle of the whole world situation. This would be our first time hiring a moving company instead of asking our friends to help. We got quoted for 4 hours I believe moving a 1 bedroom (it was a 2 bedroom place but only moving one of the bedrooms with the rest of the place to another 2 bedroom apt). We had two Movers that did arrive on time. Now I'm not totally sure what I was supposed to expect but they were kind of slow and I'm not sure very efficient? I felt like maybe a 3rd person would've been better to have. One would pack and the other would be moving the stuff - so you can see there that maybe that slows things down. When they got to the new place, one was unpacking and the other would bring the stuff in. Some of my cloth bags ripped because he was trying to carry too much at one time as well as some of my plastic bins. A few of our furniture pieces were scratched because it was squished in the truck (gaming chairs! office desk). The poor guy was sweating all over our stuff in which I had to wipe down and sanitize afterwards. With one person packing/unpacking and the other doing the moving, this was not efficient and caused us to have to pay more than we were quoted. This company LOST an entire box of mine. Containing valuables that I canot replace because they had sentimental value. Please book with caution!!! I'm really sorry to do this but people who book this company need to be warned. This company lost an entire box of mine on moving day - I called TWICE to follow up and ask if the box had turned up at all and/or had been left on the truck and never got a call back. The second time I was told, "Oh you probably never got a call back because the box never turned up." I never received a conclusive answer. Long story short I moved from a large apartment building to a small boutique building. This required moving my items down the hall, down an elevator, to a moving dock and the back of the building, into the truck, out of the truck and into my condo. Apparently, at some point in that process my box was lost. While the service on the day of was excellent (in fact I gave my movers a large gratuity!). I realized about 4 weeks later after I'd unpacked everything that I was missing one box! The box had my serving bowls, a slow cooker and other very expensive and sentimental serving plates I had received from my mother. Listen, things happen I get it. But the unprofessionalism to not even call me back after I had called to see if the box had turned up somewhere is not acceptable. This was the worst moving experience we've ever had and was especially disappointing because we previously had a great move with NoVa Express. They did not show up the day of our move, and also did not notify us that they would not be coming until 5pm the day of the move. called Anne in the moving office throughout the day - she told me after the first call that she "would check with the moving crew" regarding their status, and subsequently proceeded to ignore every additional call afterwards. We had reserved elevators in the building we had moved out of and that we were moving into weeks in advance, and they obviously could not be rescheduled on 1 days' notice. After the no show, I was told that "the boss" would be calling us to make things right. Of course, the boss never called. We had to delay our move by over a week. They then had the audacity to call us the following weekend asking if we were ready to move, without any confirmation, any calls from the boss, or any offer of an apology or compensation. Avoid this fraudulent, unprofessional, and non-communicative company at all costs, lest you risk being left hung out to dry. We will be sticking with Bookstore Movers or any other company with a shred of integrity if we need to move again. read more

They were...fine? I got a call from them at 8:50am letting me know that they were 15 minutes away, but they didn't actually arrive until 10:10am. I was given a 9am-10:30am arrival window when I booked their service, so technically they weren't late, but I was confused as to why they stated they were already nearby at 8:50am. They also set my contract start time to 10:00am...when they got there at 10:10am. Arrival timing aside, I felt like the movers were incredibly slow.  All of my stuff was located in a garage on the ground floor connected to my driveway where it was last left by my previous movers (NY-based). It took my previous movers under two hours to disassemble all my furniture, pack up random pieces, and put everything in the truck that was parked 3 stories up and around the corner. These movers only had to move the items 10 feet away and it took longer to do so. They kept asking me if I needed anything wrapped, which I thought was odd because my last two movers wrapped everything (quickly) without having to ask me.  When we finally made it to the new house, again, it felt like they were moving so slowly. They were going to leave without assembling my bed, which I specifically asked for when I booked the move. The bed assembly added another hour because they only had basic screwdrivers to assemble everything. They were initially asked to assemble my vanity too, but after their performance with the bed, I opted to put it together myself and save my $109.  They were fine in that they got my stuff from point a to point b just fine, but I spent way more than I anticipated because the movers were moving at snail pace. They're not the worst, but there has to be someone faster. read more

I've been asking to speak with a manager to adjust the cost of my move for two and a half weeks and have been given excuse after excuse on why they haven't called me back yet. This is the third time I have used NOVA Express Movers for my moving needs and once again, they knocked it out of the park. The crew, Robert, Robert B, John, and Jesus were amazing. They helped move my mom out of her house, which was not an easy task as they had to navigate getting large furniture out of her small house. They had great energy and made the move a whole lot less stressful for everyone. Even after almost 8 hours, they were still positive and had great attitudes. I am extremely grateful for their help and will continue to use NOVA Express for my moving needs. Used Nova express movers for my move form my apartment to a townhouse. We gave vivid detail on that we needed moved. In the end the amount we had to pay was double our quote. We had badly damaged furniture even though we had to pay for them to wrap it in plastic wrap and bubble wrap. While the crew servicing my move were well mannered, they were very slow and inexperienced ballooning a move into 7 hours when it really shouldn't have taken anymore than 4. The cherry on top is they did not secure my standing desk (the only reason I wanted to hire movers) during the move and it fell right out of the truck when we arrived at my new home. They literally opened both doors and out fell my desk, absolutely floored by the lack of securing such a large object. Now it's totally ruined. So far the team has been very vague on the claim process, specially Anne when I have spoken to her. I am waiting to hear back after submitting my claim and reserve to change my review to at least giving their businesses a professionalism stamp of approval but until then this was a very disappointing service. The company lost their Better Business Bureau accreditation for a reason. DO NOT USE. Movers showed up 2 hours after their 4 hour window (they didn't start moving me until 7pm when they were supposed to show up between 1 and 5) and didn't have us moved in until 11pm. The movers themselves were friendly but the office people have been totally unresponsive. I asked them for some sort of discount to remedy the fact they were incredibly late and overcharged us and they've been completely non-responsive. Anne is very unhelpful. She just says she'll pass the information along to her supervisor but its been over a week and no supervisor has reached out to me or tried to rectify the situation. You can hope that things go right like they did for the 5 star reviews but if something happens don't expect to get any money back. read more

I wanted over a month to post this review to provide NOVA with an opportunity to contact me and address their performance; I was never contacted. During my first move in March, the moving team was extremely timely, attentive, and professional, taking special care to secure and move my belongings. DURING MY MOVE ON JULY 31, 2020, I booked NOVA Express Movers OVER A MONTH IN ADVANCE expecting a similar quality of service. The booking was for an afternoon move WITH THE ARRIVAL TIME SET BETWEEN NOON AND 5PM, and I took the afternoon off work to support and supervise the move. 1) NOVA Express Movers DID NOT ARRIVE AT MY STORAGE UNIT until 9PM at night, resulting in my being charged $250 FOR AN ADDITIONAL MONTH AT THE STORAGE FACILITY (move concluded around midnight) 2) The moving team WAS COMPRISED OF DAY LABORERS INSTEAD OF MOVING PROFESSIONALS, and appeared to have little/no experience limited to no experience; MY WALLS, STAIRCASE, AND BELONGINGS SUSTAINED SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE, AND MY FAMILY HAD TO STEP IN TO HELP FINISH THE JOB BEFORE MIDNIGHT. 3) Despite their arrival over 4 hours after the window provided, I WAS CHARGED FOR AN ADDITIONAL MOVER TO PARTICIPATE IN THE MOVE; THIs was despite the crew chief reassuring me several times (between 5PM and their arrival at 9PM) that he had an extra mover who would help expedite the process. 4) I ATTEMPTED TO CONTACT NOVA EXPRESS MOVERS UNSUCCESSFULLY TO ADDRESS THIS EXPERIENCES AND NEVER RECEIVED A RESPONSE OR FOLLOW-UP. This included before the move (after the 5PM arrival window has passed and I was nearing the point that I would be charged for an additional month at the storage facility), as well as after the move when providing feedback in their survey and requesting a follow-up conversation. BOTTOM LINE: While my first experience with NOVA movers was extremely positive, I DO NOT RECOMMEND TAKING THE CHANCE THAT YOU WILL HAVE A SIMILARLY NEGATIVE EXPERIENCE WITH TIMELINESS, QUALITY OF SUPPORT, AND POTENTIAL DAMAGE TO YOUR BELONGINGS/RESIDENCE. Pro: Friendly moving crew who arrived on-time and worked hard for the entirety of the move Con: Abysmal management structure with poor communication and questionable insurance and liability processes We moved from a 3 story townhome to a single family home about 10 miles away. Early in the move one of the guys accidentally put too much weight on the edge of a hardwood stair and the wood split off. The guy was not injured and the team continued with the move. All day during the move, myself and the team lead tried to get someone from Nova Express Operations to come and look at the broken stair, At the end of the day, a friend of someone from the team came to try and repair it with wood glue, some nails, and pressure. When the guy left he said not to put pressure on it for a few hours. This was our last day in the place since we sold it; therefore, I filed a damage claim with the Nova Express Operations team in case the new homeowners had a issue over the next day or two when they finally moved in and could put pressure on it. The new homeowners reported that it squeaked and didn't seem to be secure, which wasn't too surprising given that there was a split in the wood and it was only repaired with glue and nails. A couple of days after the move I received a call from a supervisor who said they would get in touch with the new homeowners to make it right. The new homeowners have reported that they aren't getting called to resolve this issue either. I have also called the Nova Express Operations and Customer Support lines, left voicemails more than five times over the past week and half, with no call back. This is the first time I have paid to utilize a moving service and Nova Express Movers was great! Being an active duty service member, the military utilizes movers which are the "lowest bidders" and as to be expected have very horrible results, so of course I was apprehensive about hiring movers. But after looking at reviews for Nova I decided to give them a try for our local move from a 2bd apartment to a 3 level townhome. From requesting a quote to booking, Nova was very transparent with their costs and gave me timely updates closer to my move. The day of the move I had Will, Dennis and TK, they were very professional, wrapped our belongings and furniture properly and placed mats on the hardwood floors. They were very careful and even upon arriving at our new home they were extra careful and even took off their shoes. They were also very fast, efficient and did not take their time. We had a wonderful experience with Rob, John, and Raphael. They were hard working, kind and funny, and very careful. You can tell these guys are professionals at this! They called on loading day to give their estimated arrival time and were right on time. Then on delivery day they called to say they were on their way to our new destination, and again when they were 30 minutes out. I chose them for my move from Fairfax, VA to Chesapeake, VA based on the rate being per hour (instead of some companies that use a flat long distance rate) since I thought we could beat the time estimated by having all our stuff packed well and organized in advance. Our experience with NOVA Express Movers was great! We had booked a move with another company that was a disaster and had to be canceled, so we were worried about getting it done on short notice. NOVA was very responsive in setting it up, we found days the next week that would work even in peak moving season, and they didn't require a deposit. The 3-man crew was efficient and friendly. They helped with disassembly and left furniture I didn't want for the trash. I was happy to have 2 of the 3 same crew members for move in the next day - William and John. They were familiar with my items, and they were understanding in working with us to separate items going to an apartment and others going to storage and taking them the different places. We had a terrible experience with NOVA Express Movers and 10 months later are still waiting for a resolution from the business. We hired a 6 man crew for our move from Alexandria to Herndon for the entire day and greatly regret that decision. During our move multiple pieces of furniture were destroyed and parts of our new home's walls were damaged. We watched items fall out of the truck, one mover was on his cell phone the entire move, another repeatedly brought items to the wrong location and dropped them, one mover was on music and calls all day so he didn't hear what we were asking, and another put thawing drinks on our wood furniture creating ring marks. I rarely write a review we are so upset with everything that was destroyed during the move and the company's lack of follow through on our claim that I had to share our experience. At one point they offered a handy man or an estimated reimbursement for damages but once we selected one of the options we never heard back from them. The move also came with insurance but we have yet to receive anything from there either. All and all, we would not recommend this company for your next move. read more

I used Nova Express to move from a one bedroom into a two bedroom apartment. The move itself from my old place went fine and the movers were pretty quick. However, the building I was moving into had very strict rules about moving - we could only use a certain elevator/hallway for moving. After about an hour or so of moving, one of the movers broke the service elevator rendering it unusable. We told them that they were specifically not allowed to move things up and down the main residential elevator, which they blatantly ignored and did anyway. The apartment complex had to call someone after hours to fix the elevator. Nova Express still refuses to pay the damages. They've stopped returning my calls or emails. Reliable and professional are about the last words I would use to describe this company. Don't be tempted by the low price, it is worth paying a reputable company for peace of mind. read more

I never leave reviews for businesses unless I feel VERY strongly about my experience with them - and I have to say that Nova Express Movers met that threshold! I did a local move in the D.C. area from a one-bedroom apartment to a condo building with a strict move-in timeframe, so I had some special requirements to deal with during both the planning and execution phases. I have to give huge kudos to Anne, who was extremely responsive to my initial inquiry (she got back to me within 10 minutes) and then worked through the weekend to coordinate many of the finer details with me. She just wanted me to feel good about getting the exact services I needed, right down to the number of crewmen and what each additional box would cost if they needed to bring in anything extra. Nova Express was NOT the cheapest quote I received, BUT this extra level of communication, especially via email and during irregular hours, really sealed it for me. Jaime, Rafael, and Osmar did a PHENOMENAL job from start to finish on the big day, which was as hot, humid, and miserable as any in metro D.C. this time of year. I was most worried about my 750-lb, very valuable upright piano that I had only ever used dedicated piano movers for in the past...but they nailed it, making great use of my own leftover shrink wrap and tape on top of their blankets to keep my precious asset safe. The guys were also super creative with my other leftover moving supplies - in a swift move, Jaime whipped out the box cutter to fashion a "custom" TV container from the cardboard odds and ends lying around. As others mentioned, the guys disassembled and reassembled my furniture quickly and without complaint; actually, they seemed to really enjoy figuring it out! You have to find the fun in what is otherwise a brutal and grueling job. A reviewer before me wrote that their Nova Express crew moved very slowly and that this made them "scam artists"...my experience was that the crew did their due diligence to make sure everything was safely cushioned before leaving my apartment, and then took a little extra time to arrange the truck in the same way. I would rather pay for an extra hour to get a thorough, well-done job than replace hundreds of dollars worth of items on the other end. But if you do find yourself in a time crunch, these guys can move FAST; I had a short move-in window at my destination, and the crew really hustled to get everything off the truck and settled - again, without any complaints. It turned out that two small under-bed IKEA storage drawers had broken in the truck, and Jaime was profusely apologetic about the situation, even offering to work with me on the final bill. I told him not to sweat it at all, since cheap furniture is bound to break one way or another anyway. He was VERY hesitant to accept that answer, which just showed me what a class act he is. That said - if you are moving something that is extremely valuable to you, ALWAYS do it yourself to avoid the possibility of an awkward conversation with your movers later, and accept that no matter what you do, SOMETHING will probably not survive your move. At the end of the day, these guys got a well-deserved tip and the company gained a very satisfied customer. If the owner of Nova Express is reading this: give these people a raise! In this time of COVID, people are showing their true colors, and these pros showed me how committed they are to serving the customer, regardless of what their needs may be.
