I rarely leave negative reviews, but my experience with DC Pro Movers was extremely disappointing. I even attempted to address my concerns privately before posting publicly, but I never received a response. One of the movers appeared to be intoxicated during my move. He was an older, shorter Hispanic gentleman, and every time he came near me I could smell alcohol. This made me very uncomfortable and raised serious concerns about professionalism, safety, and whether this contributed to the delays during the move. I was also charged a fuel fee for a move that was only 0.3 miles away, which felt completely unreasonable. On top of that, my final bill nearly doubled from the original estimate. I was charged approximately $350 for packing supplies even though I had already purchased and provided my own tape and wrapping materials and placed them in each room for the movers to use. I even have photos documenting this. When I questioned the charges, I was first told there was a misunderstanding and then told the supplies "weren't seen." Despite me clearly communicating that my own supplies were available, the movers chose to use company materials anyway. While I understand charges for sofa covers and a TV box, one of my smaller TVs had already been wrapped and I specifically stated it did not need to be boxed. They proceeded anyway and charged me for it. The most upsetting part was feeling pressured to pay the full amount before my belongings would be unloaded. After reviewing everything afterward, I truly do not believe the charges were fair or transparent. I gave the company an opportunity to resolve this professionally before posting this review, but the lack of communication and accountability has been frustrating. DO NOT HIRE THIS COMPANY!!! If there was a way to give this company zero stars I would! I plan on reporting them to the BBB to make them aware of the poor service and deceptive pricing tactics. We were quoted a price of around $1500; that included 4 movers and some packing supplies. Well, while 4 movers showed up they were definitely not all working at the same time. One mover acted as the supervisor and directed the other 3; at least one of the other 3 was on their phone or taking a break...so at any given time there was only 2 movers working. We had wrapped some of fragile belongings and they claimed that company policy for insurance coverage stated that they must wrap them. They also claimed that everything that was fabric needed to be shrink wrapped. Even with all the extra shrink wrap and bubble wrap we still had pieces of furniture that were damaged. I had such a great experience with DC Pro Movers! They showed up exactly on time, were extremely efficient, professional, and careful with my things. The price was $400 for moving a one-bedroom apartment from Maryland to DC with multiple flights of stairs in each location - which was one of the lowest quotes I got. I feel completely duped by DC Pro movers and shockingly so. Luna was great, very friendly and worked with me to get a reasonable hourly rate for 4 movers. The movers were polite and worked hard. My issue is with the material cost. I was informed that the movers had supplies on the truck but if I had supplies on hand they would be used. I planned on using a few boxes off the truck for TVs and mirrors, things like that so expected some material cost. I did NOT expect the $1165.00 of material costs I was hit with AFTER my items were in their truck but BEFORE they would unload into my new home. $1.00 per square foot for bubble wrap! And they used massive amounts! Never mentioning during the wrapping (much of which I said wasn't necessary but they insisted) that I was being charged per square foot. I was told "it was all in the email we sent". To their credit was, an email I got over a month ago in the midst of buying a home and moving our entire life to a whole new town. I feel as though a reminder would have been nice and I certainly should not have been required by them to wrap everything including things I specifically asked not to be wrapped. My cat condo for instance, heaven knows what that set me back to wrap, against my wishes. $18 bucks for a wardrobe box that I never asked for to wrap up a mattress pad I didn't even want to keep. Needless to say I was taken aback when I saw the nearly 1200 dollar material price tag however given all my earthly belongings were being held ransom what choice did I have but to pay it. Imagine my rage when much of my furniture was damaged! Paint scratched and peeling, cabinet knobs bent and broken etc. when confronted the response was "well that was only blanket wrapped" (the ONE thing that was included in my $145 an hour by the way). This company talks a good game on the phone but I'd look elsewhere for your moving needs, moving is stressful enough, no one deserves the extra drama we had to deal with. read more

Let's get one thing straight, moving is a pain in the butt! Packing up an entire home and trying to coordinate all the little details of things to throw away, things to keep, and finding help can be SO OVERWHELMING! That's why when we found this company and were presented an estimated quote that fit our budget, we were excited to have found some help that was within our budget! We even budgeted for food and bought lunch for the movers on moving day! BUYER BEWARE! While the movers did the job admirably, what we found out when the final bill came was quite shocking! There were so many hidden fees that our initial estimated quote was laughable compared to the final bill. Don't get us wrong, we understand that it was an estimate, so we expected a little over or under, but when it approaches to be OVER $1000 , it becomes a bit ridiculous! The final bill contained a mandatory 8% fuel charge and a charge for travel time back and forth that started from where the company HQ was and not from the old/new home! We paid a total of $2503 to move less than a mile! Had the initial estimated quote contained all these details and was remotely close to the final total, we would be telling a different story. Unfortunately, there seems to be a HUGE disconnect and with the sneaky charges and the lack of transparency left us with a sour taste in our mouths! I forgot to give the ending for this. My items were dropped off within 2 weeks. There was no more contact outside of Avi letting me know he was dropping off the rest of my furniture. There was some damage but I believe that was just typical for the moving process and Avi not being salty. After this experience and reading stories online, I will probably NEVER move my stuff without renting the truck myself and hiring the labor. I already did this and it is way more cost effective. The moving business does not seem very stable and in this experience, a bit unethical. You almost need an attorney upfront just to make sure you don't get swindled. read more

Our move took a bit longer than anticipated (4 hours expected, 6 hours total) but our moving team ensured our things were delivered in a safe way. Our team of 2 were super friendly and ready to help. I do however, wish we were recommended 3 movers instead of 2 to cut down on overall time/cost. I'll start off by saying I would call these guys again for my next move. Avi and his crew were great, friendly and efficient. I would give the full 5 stars in not for the few small remarks below. Despite those, Avi and his crew did a great job helping me with my first move post-college, during the pandemic. I moved at the end of the month so it was completely understandable they ran a little bit late but Avi did a great job communicating that tardiness. I would have liked to have a better time frame estimate for start and stop given we had to have an extra person join the crew mid-move to unpack faster since they had another job in the afternoon. The scheduling could have been a bit more streamlines but again, it was the end of the month and during the pandemic. I would have to echo some other reviews as the only reason for not giving the full five stars. I would have wished pricing was discussed more up front as packing supplies for furniture (dis)assembly were extra and added on as used in addition to the fuel surcharge. A more accurate estimate and consultation would have been nice. There were also a few scratches on some pieces of furniture following the move, nothing terribly damaging but slightly noticeable, could be easy to fix. Overall, great service just be mindful of extra costs possibly. read more

I was convinced to use DC Pro Moving after reading the reviews about them and I was not disappointed. I received a prompt reply and follow up phone call when I requested them for the quote. Luna was extremely polite and helpful; I was given an excellent price for the full packing and moving service. I was called the night before to confirm the schedule and they showed up on time. The team safely packed all our belongings. Everything went according to the plan and in my new house they were very helpful in unpacking and placing everything in the right rooms. Moving is always stressful for me as I've been burned by price increases at the last moment and broken furniture/goods and damage to walls. I am pleased to say that with DC Pro Movers, this was all minimized. From the beginning, I spoke with them about the pricing as I'd read some negative reviews talking about this and we agreed to have someone come out and give an estimate. I believe the owner came out to give the estimate and in my opinion, he overestimated a little, but I'd rather him over estimate than under. The crew the day of was great and efficient and finished about an hour earlier than the quoted time which I kind of expected. They weren't as careful with moving furniture in as I have few knicks in my walls now, but nothing super egregious and I heard the head mover even tell them a couple times to be more careful. Most of my items are in tact, so I appreciate that. The only real complaint I have is that they didn't completely pack or have boxes for some of my pictures and decorations AND they didn't protect my floors/carpet. I just had the carpet cleaned and they walked their muddy shoes all over my newly cleaned carpet. I would have preferred they put boxes down or booties or something to avoid dirtying the floors. Overall, it was a pretty uneventful move which I appreciated. They arrived on time, packed efficiently, and moved my things from the truck to the house expediently. I would use them again. read more

I recently hired dc pro movers to do a local move from an apartment building to a house. I can. Honestly say that from all the moves that I have done ( which was a lot!) These movers did the best job. I was happy with everything from the ease of scheduling, communication with the receptionist and the quality job of the movers. The movers were careful with our boxes during the transportation and carrying them in as not to damage anything. They were also mindful of where to place all the boxes as well. Avi and his team did a WONDERFUL job. From the beginning and getting things coordinated with Luna to the move being completed by Avi and his team, it was virtually a stress-free move. I had a scheduling conflict with the freight elevator come up during the move and Avi handled everything for me and I didn't even have to worry about it. They moved everything from my old apartment to new on-time and on budget and made sure everything was unwrapped and set up before they left. I needed a company that provided both moving and storage options since I had a two-week gap between the end of one apartment lease and the start of the next one. DC pro moving and storage seemed to fit the bill, and Luna said they could move my stuff to their storage for $500 (which was a last-minute price, I needed the stuff moved the same day). Ended up being $600 since I forgot to mention a few items, kind of annoying but not the end of the world, especially since one of the items I forgot to mention was the bed frame itself which had to be disassembled in order to move--$100 for that doesn't seem that bad. Since they were out on holiday the day I wanted my stuff moved from their storage to my new apartment, they ended up offering me a super reasonable rate for the inconvenience. Met Avi the owner when they moved my stuff to my new place, great guy, stuff was well wrapped etc. I hate moving in general, but if/when I do move again, I'll be giving these guys a call. read more

I love DC Pro Movers! They solved a huge problem for me - I bought a sofa that apparently is weirdly large? (it looks normal to me) and supposedly would not fit in the service elevator of my new, fairly uptight condo building. With Luna organizing everything very efficiently, I quickly got a reasonable quote ($375) AND Avi was kind enough to spend a couple hours looking at the sofa (in a storage unit) and then looking at the elevators and stairwells of the condo building. They were willing to carry the sofa up 26 flights of stairs, but in the end, Avi is a pro and he was able to get it in the service elevator after all. There were no surprises and everything went great - better than expected! I am thrilled to have the sofa safely in my unit! If I ever need to move anything in this area again, I will absolutely use DC Pro Movers. read more

It's easy to review a firm when everything goes well. When things don't go well is a true measure of whether or not you should recommend someone. I give the ownership of this company extremely high marks. We didn't have the best moving experience and Avi, the owner, went out of his way to do everything he could to make things as right as they could be. I am convinced that he wants to do the right thing and I am equally convinced that his intentions are good. The team worked extremely hard and were efficient, they were punctual and definitely didn't take their time with the process. In addition to the moving crew I would pay a compliment to sales department. I have few comments that prevent a five star rating. The company has such a hard working team and so much going for it. They will work and they will work hard. DC Pro needs to present the move charges right up front in total before the moving day. This will make things a lot easier on both the company and the client. Use these guys but get an estimate and be very clear on the charges, be mindful of possible extra charges such as packing supplies etc as it is extra with these guys unless discussed up front. They gave me good price but there is a trick, everything has to be wrapped perfectly, otherwise they will use their supplies to wrap for you, it seems cool but everything is over priced. They spend $20 wrapping for my $10 mirror. My moving was around $550 it was ok but they charged me $300 for supplies, for some boxes and bubble wrap. If I would buy all they stuff myself it could cost max $50. So estimated was $550 but I ended up paying almost $1000. It is a rib off. I can recommend them only if you wrap everything by yourself before they come. Also they like to show up earlier so you would not be ready. read more

Wow, I don't know where to start... at the end of the day, I had an excellent experience! The move went really smooth. I was surprised when they called me to tell me one of their trucks broke down, but they were only 10 minutes late with a new truck. And to add, I moved the Friday of July 4th weekend. But, it was the courtesy call that was the point. When they came to my house, they were really courteous, nice, and professional. The guys worked hard, fast, and careful. I moved from a 4 bedroom townhouse to another 4 bedroom townhouse on the same street. Everything went very well. No complaints. Price was good. Very comparable to rates of other companies, but I'm glad I picked D.C. PRO Movers. Before I tipped them, they still asked if I had anything else for them to do. Very pleased! Really appreciated the quick scheduling of my move. Three guys did a super job with the move. Heron, the supervisor for the move, was very professional and I recommend him and the company. Stay Away!! This company charged me more than 4x the original estimate of $450 to move furniture to a 2 bedroom apartment. They charged me $700 in "supplies" to wrap furniture and put a few lamps into boxes. As another reviewer said - there was no itemized bill of what they had used. They charged an 8% gas surcharge on the total bill, which included the supplies! Total bill was over $1800! I, too, had no choice but to pay because they hold your items hostage on the truck until you do. They fool you with a super competent and polite office staff. But don't be fooled. Personally, I'm not sure how these guys have so many positive ratings. I should have listened to my gut and not gone with them. Unfortunately, I was trying to save money. BIG mistake. Some background: I have moved more than 30 times in my life. The last one was about this time 3 years ago from Philly to DC. For the Philly to DC -- With three men, the total loading, transportation and unloading was 7.5 hours (including a 2.5 hour drive from Philly). In addition, I had to supply a cashier's check to pay for the move at the conclusion. I got one based on the estimate ... and ended up getting a refund because the move came in under time and budget. Also, for perspective, this was a high-rise building to a home with no elevator. This weekend, from Arlington to Fairfax -- With three men, the total loading, transportation and unloading time -- including the 30 min drive was six hours. This also was from a high-rise, but to a garden apartment, third floor with an elevator. In addition to taking a full hour more, which is outrageous to me -- I've gotten rid of things, the final cost was nearly triple the estimate. The original estimate was $297, but the total cost was more than $800, which included more than $250 in 'supplies' -- what those supplies were, I don't know because I was not given a list or quantity of anything. (To be fair they tell you you will pay for supplies. However, $253 for supplies is OUTRAGEOUS - an estimate from a recent Home Depot trip, it should have cost no more than $100 - at the retail mark-up price. I cannot imaging what the wholesale cost is that the movers should be paying.) One of the reasons the Philly to DC move went so well is that EVERYTHING was packed and wrapped. As I've mentioned, I've moved a few times; I know what I'm doing. In fact, when the Arlington to Fairfax estimate came in, they only thought to plan for two movers. In the last several moves, it's been three. So, I asked for another and the estimate was increased to the $297 to reflect the addition. However, I am not naive in that the $297 estimate was a low ball to get my business. So, in my head the estimate was $500. In addition, to just ridiculously slow work and overpriced supplies, the movers tried to cancel on me by leaving a voicemail. To be fair, on Saturday there was 6 inches of snow, crazy roads, etc. In fact, I got stranded. But my move was SUNDAY when temperatures reached 50 degrees. The voicemail I got was to tell me that there was black ice and that they'd move me on Monday. No "hey we may be late, we want to be safe," etc. Trust me, I don't want anyone to be unsafe, but I got the call at 9 am telling me there was black ice when I had been out on the roads at 5 am - getting myself home - that call was someone who didn't want to do the job. In fact, when I called back to talk to a human, he asked if I needed a locksmith. Apparently, he was willing to go out for a side business, but for the work he had be scheduled for, I would be moved the next day. Literally, in all of my moves this was the worst, the longest, and the most expensive. I do not recommend you go with these guys. Good luck with your move! read more

They seemed cheap and professional, but the surprise comes in the final invoice when you have to pay in bubbles used for wrapping your stuff several hundred dollars. You found out about it in the middle of the move, when they ask you to pay the total invoice or they stop with all your things already in the truck. I would give zero stars if that were an option. As another reviewer mentioned, this business has several addresses. Either way, if you see the name 'DC Pro Movers" look elsewhere. My husband and I contracted with DC Pro Movers to move from a 1-bedroom apartment in DC to a house in Silver Spring in the fall of 2013. Things were smooth when making the arrangements via email. The day of the move is when everything fell apart. The guys showed up to survey our stuff and said the truck they had brought was too small. They then called the company to see if a larger truck could be sent, but it was already being used. So now we would have to make 2 trips between DC and Maryland. I reiterated to the movers that the condo we were moving out of has strict rules when you can use the loading dock and freight elevator and that we had to be out of there by 6 p.m. at the very latest. They said this wouldn't be a problem. Well, it was. The movers were not moving quickly at all, and my husband and I ended up helping them move items to the truck (really defeating the entire purpose of hiring movers in the first place). We finally have the first round of items packed up and my husband and I threw some other boxes in our cars to drive them out to the house to aid in getting as much stuff out there in 1 trip as we could. As I am pulling into the driveway of the house, the movers call to inform me they are taking a lunch. I remind them that we need to be out of the condo by 6 p.m. About 45 minutes later, they arrive with the truck. Again, we help unload the truck because we are worried about time. Finally, with about half of the truck unloaded the movers say there should be enough room for the rest of our things. We head back to DC for the final trip. Again, they continue to move slowly so we barely make the cutoff time of 6 p.m. (Let me add the moving process began in the morning.) Additionally, they were constantly wrapping items in bubble wrap that didn't need to be--such as an easy chair or wooden dining room chairs. We kept telling them to move things as they are--we don't need any more packing help. If it's not wrapped, we chose not to and we will assume the risks. Why were they so interesting in wrapping items? Well, it's because they can charge you extra for it--which they did. And they also took some of our boxes and combined them into larger boxes--charging for those as well. Unfortunately, we didn't notice the extra boxing until later unpacking since we had to do a fair share of moving our own boxes we couldn't supervise the movers the entire time to stop this. Also, since they charge an hourly fee, I can see why neither of them bothered to move very quickly. The longer they are moving, the more money they can charge. I think it was about 8 p.m. by the time everything was unloaded from the truck. My husband and I spoke with a manager at DC Pro Movers and he knocked about $100 off our bill for the inconvenience of the truck size. But it didn't help much. Our original estimate for the move was $316. I expected that there would be some additional charges for time so we assumed maybe $600 max. Our bill was over $1,000. Please look elsewhere for movers. If the estimate seems low, do not be sucked in. I didn't even have a Yelp account until today--and I made it just to finally write this review to warn others. read more

You're told one thing over the phone, then they pretend to have technical issues to get you to sign a contract quickly and when they get to your home things are completely different and they want to gauge you for every cent. They charge to wrap your things to move them!! Outrageous... then there's a gas charge that you're not told about and finally they make sure to take extra time to entomb your belongings which hiked up their hourly rate.... truly a dishonest company STAY AWAY.... unless you want to be taken for a pretty penny. read more

This was my first time using a professional mover, so I was very worried about this process. I've moved over 11 times in the last 9 years, and I've always done this myself; however, my husband refused to move the coach one more time. I chose DC Pro Movers after much debate because they were very persistent about getting my business; however, the reviews online were iffy. After sending a deal that was better than the rest I had, I decided to go with them. I didn't have a single problem with the movers. They were on time, courteous, and worked very quickly. The problem came about when I got my final bill. I had expected my bill to be higher than the quote, but I didn't expect to spend $100 on bubble wrap and tape alone. I called the company, and they worked with me because I've wrapped my own items before, and it didn't cost me that much. I only let them do it because they were confident it would be cheaper. It wasn't, but they worked with me and gave me a discount. Avi called me afterward to make sure that I was happy, and it was a pleasure speaking with him. Negative 5 stars!!!!This was the move from HELL!! I chose DC Pro because when I was calling around getting quotes, Luna was very cooperative and helpful. The most important thing to me was that they moved bags because that's how I was moving my clothes, (I was only moving down the street) and she ENSURED me this wouldn't be an issue. I had contracted two other movers in the past and this seemed to be something that comes up at the last minute as a problem. So after I made sure it was OK I booked the date BIG MISTAKE, I should have checked YELP first!! The move was scheduled for a Sunday between 1-3pm. I had to work this day and wasn't going to be home any earlier. I started receiving phone calls at 8 am asking if I wanted to start moving now. After saying no they called back until I had to tell them I was at work so "please stop calling". At around 1:15pm my 2 best Friends texted me at work saying that 3 men arrived and they would not move the bags, at this point I now have to leave work and I instructed my Friends that if they wouldn't take the bags not to take anything and to leave!! When I left work I called the number on the quote and got the answering machine, I left a MSG to call me ASAP and they did. Someone called me who sounded as though he had rolled out of bed and I told him the problem. He called the driver and had them take the bags. My quote was for 2 men 4 hrs and 1 hour of driving time. They got back to unload around 3 pm and now it's time to pay up. Which seems hard since I'm going to be charged the full price of the quote, yet we aren't sure what time they will be done. Not only do I get charged the full move quote even though they were finished by 4 and I had till 5:15 (and didn't even let anyone check to see if all of my belongings were out they left without notice) they proceeded to charge me for 14 rolls of tape at $3.00 a roll and $74.00 for gas even though they charged me for travel, and a few other hidden fees all totaling way more than the quote that they didn't fulfill. After I threatened to go to YELP they wanted to negotiate. Telling me they feed their families from this business, you mean from ripping people off and doing a half-assed job in the process!! Not to be forgotten "One PRO "was drunk, he threw by fragile boxes, $500 dollar MAC makeup case which he broke and cracked alot of messy makeup...oh and urinated all over my bathroom that he didn't ask to use. "ONE PRO Ben" was sleep in the car and "ONE PRO Wilson?" was very very nice and did all the work....Poor guy.. Get a new job please!!!! After the move I received many if phone calls and texts from the "Sleepy Pro" trying to "make things right" so I wouldnt go to YELP". I have moved half a dozen times in the last ten years and have used movers every time. This team was incredible, fast, and professional. They were worth every penny. I honestly feel like an expert on moving and would certainly recommend this company. From the moment I spoke with their representative for scheduling to the final unpacking of the last box, it was a great experience. AND this was not an east move. The only thing I would mention is that if you are wanting to save money, you should pack everything (EVERYTHING) on your own including your clothes. They pack up everything, from wrapping your furniture to putting any loose items in boxes, which can mean a pretty penny. I called DC Pro Movers to schedule my move. Luna was very helpful on the phone. The movers arrived on April 28th on time. The 3 guys worked hard and completed my move without damages to my furniture, however, they did put a small dent in my wall, in which I was partially compensated. The movers had to use some of their ala carte packing supplies to best protect my furniture. Upon request, DC Movers worked with me to extend a small discount with regards to the use of their packing supplies. I appreciated their willingness to work with me. Thank you! read more

I had a wonderful experience with DC Pro Moving. I had a mid-day Friday move, and I was given a window in which the movers might arrive between 1-3pm which made me a litte nervous. At 12:45 I got a call that they were 5 minutes away. Johnny and Aaron (I hope I got that right) were super fast and professional. I was moving from a storage unit to a townhouse. They wrapped all my furniture super quickly, and the whole move was finished 1.25 hours after they started. I didn't have that much stuff so I'm sure not all moves are that quick, but still! They manuevered a very narrow staircase, two flights of stairs, and it cost exactly what I was quoted. Definitely will use DC Pro Moving again. read more
