I thought a lot about making this review and I want to be fair about it. There were many positives, but unfortunately a big negative. Ed was the first person to get back to me when I sent out several inquiries to other small moving companies. He told me he was doing another Arlington to Chicago move and I could get a better deal if I went with him, but it would have to be that coming weekend to accommodate the other customers. Another company actually quoted me a much lower price, but I let Ed know and he matched it. It still seemed high to me, but I went ahead because he seemed professional and nice. He was able to give me specific dates and times for load/unload unlike huge two-week windows as many other companies do. He was very friendly through the process. I think it was his nephew that he brought along to help with the move. He was young and seemed to lack moving experience, but did okay. They got my stuff loaded into the U-Haul rather quickly and did a quick job unloading on the other end too. Upon delivery in Chicago, they had to unload the other customer first. From the sound of it, it was a nightmare and they were delayed for several hours. At one point, Ed called me to say that my bicycle had been stolen. I asked how it happened and he said that he set the bike aside while they were getting the other boxes out and while bringing stuff up to the apartment, it was taken. He even mentioned how he noticed some shady guy that was back there. I could tell that Ed felt bad about losing the bike. I get it. Shit happens. But I feel that there's really no excuse for losing it. An open truck full of customers' belongings should never be left unattended, let alone leaving something outside of the truck. I did my best not to be upset, but it was a bike that I had put together myself and put a lot of work into so it had sentimental value. When we discussed how to resolve the issue, he initially offered an amount that was lower than the price I had in mind and significantly lower than the amount I had put into the bike. He did end up agreeing to compensate me a little bit more, but I was left with a sour taste in my mouth about how he tried to convince me that the bike wasn't worth what I was asking and the manner and carelessness in how it was stolen. In the end, I didn't feel like getting into an argument or going through the efforts of making an official claim, but I can't just sit by without saying something to let other people know. read more

Loaded boxes -- brought extra supplies such as mattress covers, tape, rugs -- in the event these things were needed. They were total professionals, price was on tier with all quotes received. They beat me to my new home and coordinated w/ my property manager to be let into my empty apartment to unload ( with my permission). Premier Movers did an amazing job with our long distance - 3 bedroom single family home move - from Chevy Chase to Hartford, CT. Ed and his team were very professional and handled all of our belongings with the utmost care. The Chevy Chase leg of the trip was one of the hottest and most humid days of the summer but they crushed it in under three and a half hours. For the Hartford leg, Ed and his teams left Virginia at 4 am drove six and half hours and did a great job on the move into an old New England house. I was relocating from New Orleans to DC and needed them to empty a shipping container and move items into two different locations First, they arrived early and started immediately. They were patient with me and took great care with my things. Secondly, they listened and payed attention to the things that I requested. They did not show any frustration. I would not have been. Lastly, they packed the furniture nice and neatly and when challenged with my storage unit were careful with the how they packed it. We just moved with Premier. We had a 2 bedroom, split level condo and a storage unit that they managed to pack expertly into the truck. Edwin was prompt, professional, and direct in all of our communications. His team called to let me know they were running a few minutes late that morning and arrived at the exact time they shared on the phone. When arriving at our house, they were careful of a small tree near the driveway to make sure they didn't catch or damage it on the truck. They also went to extreme efforts to help us get an oversize couch into our basement. They diligently tried two entry points and ultimately devised and executed on a strategy to disassemble and reassemble the couch to get it in. This took a lot of extra time, but despite this they were efficient and within the original projected timeframe for the quote. We would recommend working with them and use them again. read more

Premier Movers are TOP NOTCH! Edwin, the owner, and two movers were at my storage unit when I arrived 20 minutes before the schedule move time. They were fast in loading all our heavy furniture and boxes but did it with care. Many of our items needed to be moved through our kitchen and they put blankets over the counters and cabinets to ensure there were not scratches. The entire move took two hours from start to finish. The movers were kind and careful. Moving can be stressful, but these guys made it a breeze. They are using a UHaul to move, but don't let that cloud your feelings. I would hired them again and again. I called Ed for a quote on an interstate move to NYC. He's not really a long-haul mover, but I called to see if he might do a regional move. He was willing, and his quote was significantly below anyone else. What he realized a few weeks later was that he had accidentally quoted me the price for a move to Richmond rather than NYC. By then, I had already made arrangements based upon his help and pricing. I asked him to honor his original quote, and to his credit, he did, even if it meant that he'd be doing it lean and at cost. I've heard of movers who sometimes don't even show up for the job. In contrast, Ed's word is his bond, even when it's not great for his business. I feel like that's a rarity in the moving business, and something I sincerely appreciated. Ed and the others (his guy helped in VA; he hired subcontractors in NYC) got the job done, despite all the kind of unexpected difficulties you'd expect to arise during a move to NYC. My stuff arrived safely, and Ed made sure to go above and beyond when we encountered issues (too small elevators; narrow hallways, etc.). He wasn't the most organized mover (gave me the wrong quote; didn't figure out which NYC bridges could accommodate U-Hauls in advance) because he's not a national moving company with a logistics department. But he's committed, honest, and hard-working, and that made him a much better choice than the national moving companies for me. read more

They handled all of my belongings with care, wrapped the large furniture (including a 55-inch television and a very large white sofa), and were incredibly efficient. Although a larger moving company provided a less expensive estimate, the reason I chose Premier Movers is because of how flexible and accommodating they were with my rather strict move-in window - even during peak moving season. (With a larger company, my belongings would have been packed into a truck along with other families' and I would have been provided with a two-week window that they could drop it off.) My other scheduled mover canceled on me that morning and I scrambled trying to find someone to help me move my one bedroom apartment from Old Town to Potomac Yard and also deliver some pieces to Silver Spring.
