Initially we didn't choose the right size storage unit for our needs, so he walked around the property until we found one that was a better size for us. He took time to show us how to open and shut the storage unit properly. He was so friendly and gave us great tips on getting the most out of our experience with Public Storage. No one ever answers the phone when you need something. They are great at calling you back if you're inquiring about renting a space. Once you're in they never answer the phone, don't help with anything and be careful - they raise the rates ridiculous amounts. For a very small unit they went from $160 to $236 in 14 months. Must be nice to own a business that can hike rates almost 50% without lifting a finger. read more

Being able to sign up online was very convenient. The Public Storage app is also helpful as one is able to open the entry gate with it via Bluetooth without having to punch the numbers. This particular location was a bit confusing as I was given a building number and a storage room number but the buildings were not numbered nor were there any indication of where my storage room was located (e.g., room numbers 1-50 thru this door). I had to try several different entry doors to find my storage room. I tried the office first thing but it was locked. I found the attendant outside but he just pointed me in the general direction and was not particularly helpful nor friendly. I have rented a unit at Public Storage for almost two years and requested to rent a bigger unit on 12/26/20. Due to COVID, I was unable to get help from the clerk at the counter when I went into the office and was redirected to the website, where I had to enter all my credit card information to initiate the agreement for the new unit. Upon inspection of the new storage unit, I found the door track to be broken when the door was closed. The door could easily be pushed even if locked and therefore I did not feel comfortable renting this unit. I asked the clerk if there were other units available in that size and there were none, so I asked to cancel the agreement. I was charged $204.19 and was told I would receive a full refund. I have not received the full refund as I am still being charged a $24 administration fee for a move in that never took place. We have since then removed all our items from Public Storage and contacted their Customer Service to file a complaint. The person we spoke to, Debbie was extremely rude and hung up on my husband. I left two voicemails for the Public Storage Regional Manager, Christopher Diamond but have yet to hear back from him. I'm extremely disappointed with how bad this situation has been handled and I feel that we should be credited the $24 administration fee and Public Storage needs to change their shady business practices. I felt as though I was just scammed by being pressured to sign an agreement in order to be helped and when I didn't agree with the new unit, I was ineligible in receiving my money back. There are storage units on literally every single block, do yourself a favor and DO NOT rent here! read more

Public Storage has increased pricing again and starting on Oct. 1, 2018 $210.00 dollars for 10x10 storage. I rather throw away all my stuffs in the dumpster and pay one time dump charge or donate it to Salvation Army rather than pay $2,520.00 dollars per year. Most likely more when Public Storage increase their rate again. read more

Giving 1 star because my things were "safe" I'll give a quick overview of my experience: - provided lock broke (key broke off inside the lock) - they wouldn't replace it and requested that i buy one from them - continually tried to upsell me on packing supplies - increased my rent within a few months of move in ($71 to $91) because they deemed that the space increased in value. - no refund for vacating early + had to call multiple times to let them know i was moving out despite leaving a message, my call was not returned until I left a second message. - no lock on outside door of unit - NO ELEVATORS - steps within the storage facility make it difficult if you need to use a dolly - lights are on twist timers - no outside lighting read more

I came today to rent a small unit which had a special offer of $1 for the first month plus some fees. I was new to storage so I was surprised about the additional fees (administrative fee, required insurance, lock), but I guess it's probably standard. But the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Explained every part of the lease and detailed exactly how much and where I could pay if I decided to stay longer than the initial month. Here we go again! Very disappointed in Public Storage. Rented a small unit April 2015 for $87.00 per month, 5 months later they raised it 22% to $105.00 now 1 year later they raised it 21% to $127.00. I understand prices go up but 43% in 17 months is a little crazy and robbery. Not only have the rates gone up but we are constantly having to complain about the building being hot. We are paying for climate control. I've called and spoke to the manager and I get the same excuse, it's the going rate. read more

The staff are surely and answer any question with " it is corporate policy, I can do nothing". The place has a strange smell. An industrial, oily odor. Getting in and out of the facility is chancy as it is on a very busy road. Prices are a little higher than the competition but you find out you must pay for insurance that covers them, not you, the renter. They have allowed another customer to switch an account he opened to my name without my authorization and are billing me for a unit to which I do not have access. We have our stuff there, it is safe so 2 stars it gets. However, we have one of the smallest units there with a regular house door and they keep increasing our rent without notice. What is the point of a contract if we do not lock in our rate? I get the first month promotion but that is not what I am speaking about, we recently were increased from 84 dollars a month to 102. This is ridiculous and happened about 4 months into our contract. I think that if we have a contract that BOTH parties in the contract should be held liable not just us. Do not rent a storage unit here. I would not recommend this company or location for renting a storage unit. I had a unit there for several years and finally moved out. I've experienced elevator outage, interior lighting outages, no working carts, inoperative and filthy bathroom. Latest issue was my checkout. I was told by the front desk (I have her name) that my contract period ended on January 10th and if I was out by that date there would be no monthly charge. We'll I moved out on the 5th, but was charged a full monthly fee. When I checked at the front desk a different representative said I needed to be out by the 1st and that I had been told wrong. He suggested I call PS Storage customer service, which I did. After 30 minutes on hold the phone rep said there was nothing she could do. Very disappointing that after many years of monthly payments with marginal service they weren't able to be flexible over a 4 day issue, especially when I have the name of the local rep who specifically provided the bad information. This is a customer service review regarding my experience with the Public Storage representatives. The property was ok. I've rented from several public storage units over the years and this was probably the worst experience I've had from them. I rented from the Springfield, VA location because I was moving back to Atlanta, GA. So I finally found a place in Atlanta and I called public storage to see what the move out procedure was and about prorating the last month. I called on January 30th and was planning on moving out early to mid-March. The representative told me all I needed was to give 3 days notice and everything would be good as far as moving out and prorating the last month. So I planned my trip back to VA, (booked a plane ticket and reserved a moving truck), and two-weeks in advance of the move I called back. I spoke with a different representative and I was told they don't prorate after the first 6 or 7 days of the month. I told her about the previous call with the other representative. She said the representative would not have told me that 3 days notice would be sufficient to get prorated. She got a bit of an attitude and I told her that I was really relying on what the other lady said and I would have planned my move earlier if I hadn't already bought a plane ticket and reserved a rental truck. The issues I had were 1) the last representative got an attitude with me and tried to tell me what the other lady said when she wasn't present on the call, 2) prior to not being allowed to get the prorated amount for the last month, the rate went up about $8-10 and I called to ask about the increase (she couldn't explain the increase), 3) this location wasn't the cleanest but I knew what I was getting at the time of the renting, 4) all of the representatives didn't have the same information regarding the procedures, consistency would have solved my problem. I would've been ok not being allowed to prorate the last month if I was given the proper information and was able to make the decision myself. I don't think I'll be renting from Public Storage again. read more

This is the thing that I don't appreciate about this storage unit is that they keep increasing the amount you pay without notifying you. Even if you're not signed up for the notification thing, they should at least notify you on that. They don't tell you that the price increases when you begin a contract with them so watch out. We've been with them for two years and this is the second time that the price has increased and whenever I try to call them they can't ever locate my account information or the account itself. They need to fix their phone system. read more

I'd give 5 stars, but I think the whole company needs to quit advertising a $1 first month's rent and call it what it is... at least $25, unless you take the insurance they force on you, and then it's at least $36+.
