I'm glad we read the reviews, they were right! The hash is great! Service was right on top of things and prices very reasonable. So much so that we're going there tomorrow too! To the staff; thank you, again! read more

I'm sorry I can't give this place it's due. Let's start with the cons because there are actually some positives too. Cons: 1 long wait for service after being seated and the place wasn't packed 2 server was very nice but she didn't give us silverware even when the food came we had to ask. Also she kept serving us the last of the coffee pot all morning. Grounds and all. 3 regular pancakes were a bit raw in the middle Pros 1 blueberry pancakes were amazing 2 omelette was awesome light and fluffy 3 hash is amazing 4 server, while absent minded she was always smiling and very helpful suggesting food options for our group. Parking is very good but I drove by the place twice. It's hard to see especially when weather is bad. All in all we left full because the portions are huge. But 15 minutes just to take out drink order in a half empty place I just can't. read more

This place has the best corn beef hash in Windorlocks as well as East Windsor! I've been a resident for 9 years and it's best I've found in the area. It's always busy.. so that's a good sign. B ready to wait. It's nothing spectacular inside, a normal old school bfast joint, very homey and clean. Got a group of male chefs who bang everything out fast. This is my every weekend bfast joint. read more

Our waitress was attentive and friendly. But the food was not great. My veggie extreme omelette only had a sprinkle of vegetable bits, and my girlfriend's blueberry pancakes were edible, but were blue-green color-not very appetizing. However, my main complaint is that the check wasn't tallied correctly, and I didn't realize it till I got home. read more

Great place for brunch. Waitstaff has great mannerisms. The senior cook could be a little less miserable. He wasn't too nice to the waitstaff. Looks like the locals support well. read more

Talk about "more than meets the eye" with this place. Looks like a hole in the wall in a small strip of stores, but inside is a super clean place with incredible food. I had the chorizo wrap with eggs over medium (nailed it), onions and peppers and a dash of hot sauce. It was super fresh and super tasty. My wife had egg and sausage on a bulkie roll and she said it was one of the best rolls she has ever had. My kiddo loved the french toast. Generous portion. $30 with tip not too bad. Highly recommend. read more

Small unassuming place that makes you feel at home when you come in! Even though it was our first visit, it won't be our last. Breakfast was excellent--after having seen a yelp review that mentioned pigs in a blanket, I just had to have those but they are not on the menu. My man asked our super nice waitress who asked the kitchen and they were happy to oblige. So good! Matthew had an omelet to his liking, with great hash browns. Overall, very cute and clean place with a great staff and menu selection. Would definitely return! read more

Came here for breakfast today for the first time. (Thanks to my fellow Yelpers!). Very clean restaurant. Booth was comfortable. Our server Keri was pleasant, upbeat and attentive. My husband had an Omelette that was a tad bit over-cooked. But, The hash Browns (with onions) were the best we've ever had! Cooked perfectly with just the right amount of spice. I got the Corned Beef Platter with fried eggs on top (on the recommendation of Keri.) So glad I did! I ate every speck and will not hesitate to do so in the future. It's nice to know we have a great breakfast spot so close to home. Good job, Tom! read more

Great breakfast stop in route to New York City. Found it via Yelp. It was a Friday around 10 AM and we were greeted and seated immediately. Our waitress was very attentive and friendly and helpful. My friend decided on the home fry special (home fries with sausage and peppers) two eggs over easy and cinnamon raisin toast. I love corned beef hash and based on the yelp reviews, I had to try the corn beef hash with eggs. The best corned beef hash I've ever had!! Tender, flavorful and not overloaded with potatoes. Cinnamon raisin toast was also excellent. Great service, food quality and value! Wish it were closer to home! read more

The waitresses are super busy at this place. There were a lot of takeout orders as well as quite a few in-restaurant patrons. I had the corned beef hash and eggs and it was really good. The wheat toast was a little too toasty but not too bad. I think the place could use a little more character inside. There was not much on the walls. I ended up leaving an $8 tip on a $12 bill because I was so impressed with how hard the waitresses were working. My coffee was filled four times in 40 minutes. Pretty good. read more

In the area for my brother's wedding. We came here good and hungry the morning after and was NOT disappointed! The portions were HUGE!!! I brought back more than half for my parents to share at the hotel! Eggs were fluffy the pancakes where thick and large. My hubby got the omelette and it was loaded and super cheesy. I would def. recommend this place! read more

Great food in a cozy little diner! We got the Blazin' Benedict and French toast with strawberries, chocolate chips, and a side of bacon. Both tasted great and were solid portions that filled us up. The waitress was nice, but service took a while as it seemed like she was the only one seating and serving everyone at the time. Overall, a great place for breakfast and we'll be going back! read more

Gathering Ground - French Toast with Strawberries and Chocolate Chips - Breakfast & Brunch Near Me - Windsor Locks, Connecticut

Tasty brunch! Not the cheapest, but totally reasonably priced by Connecticut standards. I got blueberry pancakes and hashbrowns, which turned out to be a standard hashbrown patty. The pancakes were excellent though! Very tasty. My friend had a burger which he wasn't as enthusiastic about as I was about my breakfast food, so keep in mind that it may be strongest for breakfast. The homemade chips that came with the burger were delicious though! Nice small town diner ambience with a wide variety of patrons. read more

Went here for lunch. Got the bacon cheese burger with fries ($1.50) extra to sub fries for the home made chips, which were pretty good I might add. My waitress gave me a sampling of the chips, and I would have stuck with them if I had gotten a sandwich, but when I go burger, I want fries or onion rings. That's just how roll. Btw, straight cut fries cooked well with some crunch. Nicely done. The burger was a good size let me tell ya'. A hand pressed patty cooked medium, as I requested, with fresh toppings and crispy bacon.... The way it should be. Good tasting burger. It's a nice clean place. Good spot for breakfast or lunch. Also, the employees were all really nice and personable. I will be back for sure when in the area. read more

I love breakfast food so I'm always trying to find a good little breakfast joint. This is my new little breakfast joint. It's a little off the beaten path in Windsor Locks (somewhat near the airport), but it's totally worth the drive. I had the hash and eggs and it was deeeeeelicious. The hash is homemade by the owner/chef and it's fantastic. The corned beef is yummy and it still has some chunks and texture to it (so it's not just a mushy potato/corned beef combination). It was awesome. The over easy eggs were perfectly cooked and the hash browns were good too (real potatoes, not that deep fried frozen potato crap). Coffee is good and plentiful. The people that work there are super nice and accommodating. Definitely come here for breakfast - for real. I'll be back for sure. read more

What fun little location, friendly staff and they serious clean as they work. Huge menu, which they execute to perfection:)

The food and service were excellent. Discovered this place on Yelp when I was in the area at 6 am. The food was prepared very quickly which was impressive and I was able to watch the cooks from the breakfast bar. This place is awesome and I really enjoyed the atmosphere! Update: After the server heard that I found this place because of the great reviews on Yelp, the owner brought me free sample of zucchini nut bread and corn hash!! Both were delicious and the best I have ever had. I am so impressed with this place! I recommend this place! Best breakfast place! read more

The coffee was so good, it needed just some half and half ! Crabby Benny - delicious. The poached egg was done perfectly. The crab cakes had chunks of crab meat in them and tasted homemade! They didn't have a kids menu but the super sweet waitress had them make her one chocolate chip pancake, which I hugely appreciated. I hate having to order a grown up size breakfast for my 2 1/2 yr old. I'm from out of town but would definitely visit this place again if I find myself in Windsor again! read more

I stopped in here for a breakfast sandwich after a morning of hiking. We were able to place an order online and then pick it up at the restaurant. They had seating outside under a tent and everyone was wearing a mask which was great. We got a shaved steak egg sandwich and a pastrami egg sandwich. They were pretty big considering the price served on a bulky roll. The pastrami egg sandwich was great and very well seasoned. The steak egg sandwich needed a bit of seasoning but was still good overall. I'd recommend coming in for a visit! read more

Finally a diner which keeps it simple. The diner doesn't seem to rely on the all mighty potato. Some people swear by home-fries. Me, I don't like the high starch vegetable. It's great that this place has a variety of options which both include and do not include potatoes. I have nothing against potatoes, but I'd rather not pay for them if in not going to eat them. Btw try the southern breakfast! The gravy is just right ;) read more

The customer service over the phone and in person is just awful. Please do not order the homes fries. They were basically raw.

Place was very clean and organized, they do a great job, food was a 3 star in my opinion Asked for homefries with onions got no onions, just very bland and low quality, chef saved it with the waffle topped with fresh fruit it was great! Waitress was very helpful and nice, may give another try and order something else..... just wish there was better quality food around!!!!!!! read more
