What a great local spot! We were greeted warmly and seated quickly. Our server came to the table right away to take our drink orders -- hot coffee, of course. Our food order was taken promptly, and it didn't take long at all before it arrived from the kitchen. The servers checked in often to see if we needed coffee refills, which is a huge plus in my book. The food was excellent, and the French toast was phenomenal. We'll definitely be back! Also they do take credit cards. I didn't see anyone state that in previous posts

This is a great option on a Sunday when every other diner seems to close at 1pm?? This diner closes at 3pm snd serves breakfast and lunch. The food was delicious and even though it was cold out the atmosphere was warm.

Amazing staff, food and ambiance. Ashley (our wonderful waitress) was excellent. I recommend Maria's Diner in Tolland CT to anyone passing by or if you're looking for great food at very reasonable prices. It's definitely worth the drive if you're an out of towner like me.

Tried again, way too pricy for what you get…read more Been to way too many breakfast spots, so much so that I've run out of local spots to try. So decided to give another go to some places that need another try. The space inside is decorated well, it's very homey and plenty of tables. The server was very nice and had recommendations when asked. I opted for the raspberry beignets and the bananas foster French toast. Food came out quickly, and I took my pics and dug in. The raspberry beignets were pretty much donut holes covered in raspberry and vanilla sauce. The raspberry filling was there, but wasn't very pronounced. For 3 bucks a beignets, it's very expensive. But it was sweet enough and fried fresh. The observant will note that the French toast looks a lot like pancakes. They specify on the menu that you can choose either, but either I was never asked which I wanted or I failed to advocate for my preference. I decided to roll with it, since it could be a mistake from either end. Pancake batter was overworked, bananas were slightly warmed up but done so on the griddle. Picked up the onion funk from their home fries, leading to a rather unpleasant bite. Quality issues can be overlooked if the price is reasonable. For 28 dollars for two dishes, the price is way too high for what I got. As a local breakfast spot, there's not many around that area. If you need breakfast and are unwilling to drive another 5-10 minutes for other options, the food is okay and portions are reasonable. It's pricy, stick to the savory, and don't expect more than the basics.

I should've taken a picture. It would say much more than my words. Either way, my wife ordered the…read moreberry pancake special and it was incredibly good. I ordered two poached eggs, bacon, and home fries. The bacon was fine, a little chewy but some people like that. The home fries, again, fine. But, the eggs we cold and disgusting. Poached eggs, by their very nature, are cooked uniformly. Unlike fried eggs, they are submerged in water and cooked all the way around. These eggs came back with uncooked whites that resembled mucus. I'm sure the eggs were sitting there, waiting on the other orders to be fulfilled. Not wanting to be a hassle, I plowed through, scooping the cold uncooked whites to the side and discovered a piece of not so small egg shell in it. I told the waitress there was an egg shell in the eggs, they were a bit undercooked and cold. Instead of receiving an apology or accommodations, she said she'll share the info with the owner. I was then given an excuse as to why there was an egg shell in the eggs "we use farm fresh eggs and they're very fragile". I use farm fresh eggs at home, they are fragile. It doesn't take more than a moment to remove the shell before cooking and serving it to a customer. She didn't remove the meal from the ticket or discount it and she never apologized. Like I said, just an excuse. All that being said, the place is beautiful, indoors and outside. My wife's pancake was delicious. I'm sure many things on the menu are delicious. They also seemed short staffed. And I won't wright a place off because of one meal and one server. Could be an off day for the chef/cook. The server isn't a always an indicator of the restaurant's values. I do wish she was more accommodating - especially at those prices - but it could've been a perfect storm of being short staffed, rushed cook, and a server that doesn't care.

Tried again, good basic diner fare…read more On my re-trek of breakfast spots, decided to give this place another try as it's outside my normal travel zone and the previous experience was lacking. Inside is nice, homey and marches the vibe of a classy New England breakfast dining space. Server was manning the counter and was attentive and helpful. Menu took pride in its Benedict's, and I saw they did a biscuit and gravy. So I opted for their biscuit Benedict to see how that fared. With a side of corned beef hash. Food came out quickly, took pics and dug in. The Benedict was an assembly line Bennie. Biscuits were freshly made in house but salty, eggs perfectly poached and hollandaise was savory. Sausage was a generic sausage patty, and hash browns were delightfully crispy potato pieces. The corned beef hash was cooked well, loaded with lots of meat and very little potato. Which was good, cause the potato was undercooked. I was also overcharged for the corned beef hash, charged the full price when it should've been the add on price. Was 5 bucks additional, but still not cool. As a diner, it checks all the boxes. Good cheap food done well enough. It's nothing to call home about, but a place to go if you're in UConn and have the family visiting.

Quality is still good, price and portion are askew…read more We came here as a quick sandwich bite on our way around the state. Service was good, and the ambiance is still lively. The still tastes good, with some exceptions. The frier oil seemed burnt, so the pickle chips we had just had that little bit of carbon taste on them. The pickle chips batter was very thick, and the mayo was the only respite. The sandwich, still tasty, seemed much smaller than normal, the meat still had good flavor, but the portion was lighter in comparison. The prices are also a bit high. The sandwich coming out to about 15 bucks. The bargain is very much gone now, and the portion is okay for a sandwich but pricy because of this shrinkage. Not shown are the overcooked onion rings. We returned those and the server promptly removed them from the bill. So really good customer service. I opted for a brownie for dessert, and the brownie was a disappointment. Too sugary, no flavor, gummy, and disappointingly small and thin. A detractor for sure. As a deli, it feels like it's on the decline. I know things are pricier now, but what you pay vs what you get doesn't match up. I'm hoping they pivot from this path, but right now it's no longer my go-to. It's still tasty, just pricy
