Quaint little diner, good food at good prices Came here on a whim, running out of local breakfast spots so need to expand out the search a bit. Made the trek to this little diner to give them a try. The space is small but spacious. Lots of two seat tables and a small bench. Place is cash only, so make sure to hit up an atm before going. Servers were very attentive and friendly. Made multiple coffee refill runs. The coffee is diner coffee, functional but not great. I opted for their French toast bake special, cause I'm a sucker for a good lost bread. No ice cream, so had to do with whipped cream. Had real maple syrup at an upcharge, but could get a half sized version for cheaper. Food came out quickly, took pics and dug in. The bacon was crispy, only a couple lighter spots towards the ends. Whipped cream was from a can, functional. The actual French toast was very well done. Custardy, not very sweet but consistency was on point. Berries were good, but not very noticeable in a full bite. The syrup really helped in getting that true French toast bite of savory, sweet, and warm custardy tastiness. Needed a little more cinnamon and nutmeg in the egg soak to give it flavor throughout, and coated the fruit in sugar or lemon juice to amplify the fruit sweetness. Price wise, was pretty affordable. Everything came out to about 17 bucks which was a good price for the quality offered. As a meal, it was a rather tasty dish for the price. It knows it's a diner style place and they take the same corner cuts that diners usually take. But this makes them a very good choice for locals to get a good breakfast. So I don't trek here for their offerings, but for the area they are a great choice. read more

This is a cute spot to grab breakfast with family. Things to note are this is a CASH ONLY facility so keep that in mind, and they are sort of the local watering hole type place but for early hours. They have regulars who will sit at the counter and sometimes conversations between the staff and their regulars tended to get a little uncomfortable for those of us on the outside looking in. Our servers were friendly and accommodating at first, but sort of forgot about us a bit we think after we got our meals. Food was quite good, but the overall experience earned a lower rating based on the aforementioned ambiance. Some people might enjoy that kind of setting, but it wasn't my preference. read more

We were looking for a new place to try and ended up finding this spot on Maps. Heads up - there's a sign on the door reminding patrons that they are a cash only restaurant. Tables inside are well spaced for social distancing. Even on a Sunday morning, we were able to get a table for two right away. There was a slight wait for our waitress, but the woman who sat us did come back for drink orders in the interim. The food was excellent and we'll definitely go back. After reading all of the Yelp glowing reviews I was excited to try this place. A little hard to see from the street. Once you see it you realize it's totally adorable. Country cozy feel, screen door, wooden tables, wooden hutch coffee station. Charming. Staff was so friendly. They seem to have quite a loyal clientele. I enjoyed all the banter. I cannot say I enjoyed the coffee. It was a bit weaker than I like it. My eggs were cooked perfectly. Bacon perfectly crispy and non greasy. Home fries were slightly over boiled making them slightly mushy. I couldn't form an opinion about the pancakes. They looked beautiful. But taste wise .....lacked pizzazz. They didn't taste buttermilk. Had no real definitive flavor. I really wanted to fall in love with this place. It has so many things in its favor. Im so on the fence. No Exceptions! Based on my experience here, you can have a good morning and a better breakfast & coffee by going elsewhere! Here is what happened on Sunday. When I entered the restaurant, I apologetically told the hostess I had my own coffee as I had purchased a large coffee from a drive through and then later decided to stop here for breakfast. She smiled and proceeded to seat me at a table and gave me a menu. After I took off my coat and sat down to look at the menu, the manager scurried over and huffed at me telling me they don't allow outside drinks. I explained how I acknowledged my coffee earlier to the hostess and if it was a problem she should have said so, rather then seat me at a table. I asked if we could make an exception this one-time and the manager said "no". The manager said I could go outside to pour it out. I said "no, how about I just leave and tell everyone how rude I've been treated, with no consideration. So here I am, posting about my bad experience with Good Mornings Restaurant! No exception for one 16 oz coffee? They would rather lose a paying customer and get a bad review? Doesn't make too much sense but no worries, their coffee is actually the absolute worst, so no loss for me. On the way out, I enjoyed a sip of the delicious coffee I had apologetically brought with me and encouraged the manager to train the host staff better and maybe post a sign on the door, so everyone knows No Outside Drinks No Exceptions. A hidden gemstone in a corner of a small shopping area. They open at 6a so it's good for early risers. They serve breakfast all day and have a very good selection. Everything is made from scratch and the home fries are old school and good. The omelets are generous offering choice of cheese (1), two (2) meats, And two (2) veggies. The service is very friendly and the food comes out quick and Hot. It's a local place so expect to see everyone knows everyone else and this is how it is in a local favorite. Went for breakfast with my hubby. I said I think I was here years ago and if I remember currently the food is hot. Order French toast and bacon it was not hot. She took it back and came back 30 seconds later and said is it hot enough now. It wasn't but didn't want to have a microwaved more. It was horrible. I asked my husband how can you screw up French toast. It was dry and had no flavor. My hubby got eggs bacon and toast and said it was okay. It's the kind of hometown diner that, on a quiet morning, the waitress will ask if you want a newspaper to read with your late breakfast, and bring you a pot, instead of a cup, of tea. For whatever reason, good diners/brunch establishments seem so hard to come by in North Central Connecticut. When I moved here from Fairfield County a few years ago, I struggled to find a good breakfast place that was close by. After a little yelping, I found Good Mornings to be quaint, simple, friendly, and very enjoyable. Good Mornings is a great little restaurant that you could easily pass by 100 times without even noticing. Set back from the antique shop and Maine Fish on Bridge Street, it's a little tricky to find the place from the street. But once you find it, you know you've found a keeper. The prices are very reasonable and the portions are generous. The atmosphere is quiet and friendly. When you walk in the dining room, you feel like you're in your mother's kitchen-not some greasy diner car. Be sure to bring cash with you. We've been in East Windsor for 4 years now and never knew Good Mornings was here - it's so close, too! My dad and grandma are visiting from Virginia, and they found an ad for Good Mornings in a travel brochure at the Clarion. Boy am I glad they did. We all had a huge breakfast. Good Mornings is only open until 1pm on Sundays, so we were the last ones there. I had a western omelet that was stuffed full of veggies (too much green pepper for my taste, but still fantastic), a side of bacon, home fries, toast, and corned beef hash (I was hungry!!!!!). I am super stuffed, but I had to eat everything. Although all the food was great, my favorite was the home fries. I always asked for overcooked, and most places don't like doing this for some reason. These were exactly the way I always hope to get them, but I rarely am able to get restaurants to do this. I am super impressed :) When we were leaving, we told our nice waitress that it was our first time there, we were really happy with it, and that we'd definitely be back. When she brought us our check, she gave us a $4.00 gift card for our next visit. I thought that was really nice of her. My only complaint is that seating is a little tight in there. In sum: Our meals were very good-- certainly above average in terms of small breakfast joints-- but the service was bare bones. Our waitress checked in once, about 3/4 through our meals, just to drop the check. Never asked if we needed anything, which was a bummer. The restaurant is sunny and clean, though the year-round "autumn" theme was a little perplexing. And like I said, our breakfasts were above average. I had an asparagus and ham omelet that was featured on the specials board; the asparagus was neither mushy nor underdone, and there was lots of it. This place is great! When my mom and I came to Connecticut to interview and tour at two boarding/prep schools, our hotel was overbooked because of a flood and consequential power outage (this was in November). So after spending the night in a random motel, we're driving our rental car - with suitcases in the back - wearing formal attire and two hours to spare until we had to begin our three hour trek to Lakeville. So, here we are, randomly driving around a small town called East Windsor in a small state called Connecticut, and we found a small joint called Good Mornings. So we walk in, looking like total outcasts in a restaurant full of normally dressed regulars sipping coffee and eating omelets, and the waitress at the front tells us to 'take a seat anywhere you'd like'. Now, 'anywhere' left us with a few table options, as this place is very homey feeling and quite busy! After sitting down, we ordered. We both got omelets (mine was ham, cheese, and tomato, yumm), potatoes, toast, and coffee for my mom and hot cocoa for me. The food came out within 15 minutes or so; the wait was undeniably worth it! I'm from Southern California and have been to small diners in San Diego and huge brunch eateries in Los Angeles, but this food was legit homestyle cooking. The service was nice, albeit a tad slow, and the environment was welcoming - we even sat next to the owner's daughter and her son (cutest toddler in the world, btw). Overall, I don't know if I'll ever be able to come back, but the experience of eating here with my mom was memorable. So, for now, farewell Good Mornings and (gorgeous) Connecticut in general! Good food and hospitality! Small place, I like the quietness and the home-like feel to the place. It's comfortable, like a tea house. My husband inhaled his Reuben sandwich and I definitely enjoyed my turkey and provolone wrap. They have daily specials, great choices for breakfast and lunch! Carrot cake wasn't as moist as I like, but it still tasted great! French fries are fair, they tasted a little of a freezer but that doesn't matter too much to me. Options for tea are limited, Bigelow brand, but the French vanilla (never had that mix) was really tasty! No need for sweetener, just a little cream and voila! My husband and I went here this morning for the first time. Clean place, friendly service and great food! We both loved the blueberry pancakes and we were excited to discover that they offer real maple syrup...you just have to ask for it and it's $1-$2 extra. We'll be returning soon! On a side note, we were here at the same time as the last reviewer, Todd. Not sure why he'd give one star as I've never been to a breakfast place with fresh-baked bread. It's pretty standard for them to use pre-made sliced bread. Also, it's clearly marked on the front door that they accept cash only and this is pretty commonplace for small local breakfast spots. - A GREAT EFFORT - Eaten here three times. One time the owner (or head waitress) wasn't there. It was nice. The other times the overly-familiar owner or head waitress was there. It wasn't nice. First of all there's their TV. It's often on the Kathy Lee hour of the Today show, and blasting. When there's no-one else in the place, I don't know why it has to be blasting. When it's full of people, the blasting TV makes all the patrons resort to yelling, making the space obnoxiously loud. One of my three times here, I was on my way to a meeting and didn't have a lot of extra time. I ordered an orange soda. Owner or head waitress disappeared. 5 minutes passed, 10 minutes, 15 minutes. No one else is waiting on me or paying any attention. My time for breakfast is passing as I sit there. She returns, said she was looking through the cooler all that time, couldn't find one. It would have been far better had she said she didn't know if they have any in stock and given me the option of asking for something else. The way it played-out, I had about 3 minutes to eat my breakfast by the time it came (and it was a very slow day there). It seemed like a passive-aggressive act to be, to be honest. In spite of the owner or head waitress and their loud TV blaring out awful programs, I'm giving it 4 stars, mainly for the food and for the idea. It's a decent little space, kept clean, bright, and has a couple outdoor tables. The food quality did vary in quality from one visit to another, which is a pet peeve of mine. But they have a well-varied menu, and some great ideas, like offering homefries made with or without onions. They carry Hosmer Mountain (a gourmet soda brand based in Willimantic). The best breakfast place in East Windsor (and I've tried them all). When you enter you are greeted like family. I just tell Pat "I'll have my usual" and I get it in no time at all and it's piping hot. There is always a fresh pot of coffee brewing. I love this place! read more
