We were on vacation from Naples, Florida seeing family and friends in 5 states. driving on the back roads from Massachusetts to Rhode Island last Sunday morning 5/6. Let me tell you, while making a turn, quickly noticed the place and stopped. Saw the lighted OPEN sign. THE place is GREAT. A local fave I assume. The waitress was so very nice and personable. The whole time there felt great. Only 5 others there and us. The server and the few people we eventually met there were so nice. BTW, Have a great ending to this story but for now, ordered the IRISH QUESADILLA and my wife had an Omelette. (no picture of omelette sorry) but trust me, whichever one you get, you'll enjoy. I wanted lightly fried eggs and home fries instead of the scrambled and fries listed on the menu. Am I glad. The eggs were great and the home fries SPECTACULAR. I love corned beef hash and having it in a quesadilla this first time was exactly how I'd like it but may never see unless I asked for it and I will here in Florida. Didn't want this meal to end. My wife liked her omelette a lot also with those home fries and agreed. Perfect! And a bottomless cup of great coffee. We occasionally talked the three people who were seated near us and talked about everything. Laughed mostly and it was quite enjoyable. After their meals, they left and we then had just asked for our check. The waitress said it's been taken care of! What?? I ran out and hoped I'd see them and thank them. I did and they were just getting in their SUV. I thank them and for their company also. What they did we also did in Florida. It's called "Pay Forward". Wasn't familiar with it. A few years ago someone here in Naples bought US a breakfast and wanted to remain anonymous. Wow! What a treat. We looked the restaurant and thanked them loudly. The following year we anonymously paid this couples check. We're seniors and most people in our breakfast place were. We paid their check before it ended. (Ahead of time before they got it) also the tip. It felt good on both sides of this. Do it at least once and you'll feel good about it. Food was good. I know it's 21st century and inflation is a thing, I just thought $4.25 for one pancake is steep. Corned beef was excellent. Service was a bit inattentive and slow. Stopped in with 3 friends for our monthly breakfast at various locales in northern CT, western MA. Arriving at 8 AM, surprisingly quiet because Mahaneys puts out some quality meals. I had the corned beef hash omelet with well done HFs. Demanding Dan opted for a meaty omelet w/o ham, Manic Mike had the Quiche omelet, and Crooner Chris had 3 eggs over easy with HFs and ham. All of us rated Mahaneys as 5-star. In particular, the HFs were well spiced and stayed hot. It was a challenge for us to finish all the food. Owner/cook Enver wields a mean spatula; his wife, Selda, kept us well caffeinated. A smallish, homey place. Interesting breakfast and lunch specials. Open daily. Prices a little higher than they were a year ago, but that seems to be the case everywhere. Def worth a stop. read more

The bacon and pancakes were good - I'm confused by the "maple" syrup, which just tasted like brown colored corn syrup. My partner had the French toast - also fine. I saw people ordering lunch items, which TBH looked better than the breakfast. I had the veggie omelette & it was stuffed with vegetables & cheese - really good. The place was small and pretty crowded on a Sunday morning. Decor was a bit tired, carpet was kind of dirty, but other than that, it was clean & bright. There was just 1 waitress & she was really trying to make sure everyone was taken care of, running around the place. To sum - if you are in the area, definitely try it. The pancakes, flapjacks or hot cakes these were the size of a dinner plate. You order by one, two or three etc. huge delicious and filling. Tasted like they had some corn flour in them. The omelette was large and filled full of meat cheese. This was the meat lovers omelet. Great flavors. The breakfast potatoes were filled With spices and tender. This place is inexpensive, it is family owned. The waitress is friendly and full of life. Small restaurant about 11 tables and they have take out. Dying of hunger this morning, we decided to pop over to Mahaney's for breakfast on the go. In the past, we heard about them through a friend that ordered their breakfast sandwiches for her teachers every summer school. We were around the corner and ordered 2 eggs over easy-specifying a runny yolk with the corned beef hash and wheat toast. Within 10 min, we arrived, just as the order was being bagged. The woman at the counter was very friendly and packed the box just fine. We headed out to the car and decided to eat in the parking lot as the smell of the food told us we couldn't put it off any longer. Everything looked great, but when we cut into the eggs, they were not runny at all. And for us, that's key. The corned beef hash had a bit of a different taste to it. Not bad. But not great. Do not get the house chicken salad here. I know that chicken salad is something that is a little different at every restaurant, but I wasn't prepared for this. It was a roll with deli chicken slices cut into tiny squares mixed with mayo, a little black pepper, a sprinkling of tiny diced lettuce, and a few diced tomatoes. I literally thought it was some sort of seafood salad when I opened the sandwich because I've never seen anything like it. It was slimy and inedible. I wish I had taken a picture before it went into the trash. Two stars for the restaurant because my husband and daughter got turkey clubs that they said were "fine". Also, be prepared to wait. I stopped in here for breakfast after seeing the great reviews and retuning home from the airport. The parking lot expanded to the back so I didn't have any trouble finding a spot, and saw the place easily from the road. Right when you walk in you are in a little take out section and greeted by the folks behind the counter. You walk back to the tables for sit in breakfast. The servers were all friendly and quick to take orders. There was also a pretty good sized menu for breakfast and lunch. I got the harvest omelette with egg whites and was happy at how big it was! I could have used a bit more salt on it and the home fries but overall it was delicious. I recommend a visit. read more

Had a very nice lunch here today. The staff was super nice and very friendly. I had a veggie sandwich wrap, served with a small bag of chips for just $5. What was really amazing was my beverage- a whole can of Diet Coke for just one buck!. That was awesome, I'm really sick and tired of over-paying through the nose for small glasses of soft drinks where the price is flirting with the $2 mark. How refreshing to see this reasonably priced. My wrap was pretty good- a nice assortment of sautéed diced onions and green peppers, sweet red pepper strips, mushrooms, broccoli, spinach, and tomato slices. It reminded me of a nice veggie omelet. It was kind of drippy (there was a pool of liquid on my plate) and tough to eat as a sandwich, but otherwise it was very fresh and tasted fine. The Snyders chips were excellent. So for around $6 I had a tasty lunch, a nice setting, and attentive friendly servers. What more can you ask for? read more

Not by atmosphere (it feels like what it is: converted space at the end of a strip mall), nor by the menu (diner chow). It's the family-owned and operated charm that transports you, fair patron, to the big wooden table, where you keep losing your napkin off your lap because you forget about it and stand up and it falls and you want to ignore it but you can't because it's your napkin. Don't worry - they'll pick it up for you. Mahaney's isn't the fastest at the flat top, and the substantial plates of three egg omelets loaded with corned beef, potatoes and Swiss aren't exactly life-changing. But diner food shouldn't be cathartic, it should be hearty, hot and cheap, served by your substitue mom who appears to want a hug when you she drops off you check. My family and I are from San Antonio, Tx. We traveled to CT for a nursing contract and after a strict quarantine, we decided to step out for breakfast. We had originally stopped at another diner down the street, but the waitress was obviously so inconvenienced that her bad attitude made us leave. When we came to Mahaney's, we were greeted with gratitude and felt as though they wanted us here. The waitress was friendly and our food was 10/10 delicious. When she saw that I was trying to order healthier, she suggested that I can swap my potatoes for fresh fruit and it was really fresh and sweet. I wish we lived closer so we could come back often. When staying in Windsor, I needed to find a place for breakfast. I yelped it ahead of time and found not many options with reviews. I decided we should check out Mahaney's since it was close to the hotel and they I can review it myself. The restaurant is cute with an old fashioned vibe. The smell of the inside reminded me of my grandmother's house. They have a few dining room tables in 2 small sections of the restaurant. A look at the menu revealed the typical breakfast combos with home fries, toast, pancakes, french toast, omelette's and lunch items. Our waitress was extremely nice. She had some specials she read off to us as well. I decided I would go with the two eggs breakfast with bacon. My boyfriend got the Italian sausage omelet special. The food arrived promptly. The amount of food filled the plate completely. I asked for the bacon well done and it was brought over perfect. The home fries were large chunky potatoes with spice all over. The coffee was surprisingly weak though. It felt like we were eating at a family's home. The waitress had a motherly feel and offered little extras for us I wouldn't of thought of like jelly for my buttered toast. Prices were very low. Our egg and omelet specials were only $5-$6 each. We stopped by on a family recommendation and had a very good experience here. It's family owned, well-known to locals, has friendly service and pretty darned good food. Outside it looks rather nondescript, and frankly the interior is nothing spectacular. But if you put aside the matter of atmosphere, it's a delightful local diner that we heartily endorse. Start with the corned beef. Mmmm, hot and thick slices on rye, yummy! Great French fries, a ham and cheese melt that really melts in your mouth. And they make good eggs and know how to cook the bacon just right (we like it very crisp). They serve up some tasty pastries, and ... well, we didn't find anything we disliked, including the coffee. Our waitress was attentive and quite pleasant (and handled some toddlers with ease), and we left absolutely satisfied. I had this place bookmarked for some time and was in the area so decided to try it out. I came in for breakfast and coffee and felt welcome after being greeted by the cook. I ordered one of their specialty omelet which was called the "quiche omelet". It consisted of spinach, cream cheese, onion. I also ordered home fries and coffee. This omelet had the right ingredients to be a top notch omelet but was not cooked or prepared properly. Spinach was fresh but under cooked, onions were either frozen or par boiled,which i cant stand and omelet was overcooked. Home fries were average and coffee was slightly above average served in a good size mug. I think if the chef would make suggested adjustments to this omelet it would be a big seller. Just a great local gem. A small place with big food and great service. Such a large menu for breakfast and lunch.

Oh my gosh the pancakes. With real maple syrup or a facsimile I have never before tried. The coffee is great, they don't poach eggs (just PSA, not that their other versions of eggs are bad or that its make or break for me), and their varieties of toast are solid. The omletes were huge, I wanted to see someone try the home made hash, but french toast was ordered instead and also looked tasty. Thanks to Yelp we found this gem for a bite to eat before flying out of BDL. We were a large group, so we called ahead to let them know we were coming, and they were very accommodating to have a table ready for us. We were traveling with 5 hungry kids, so that was much appreciated! This is a mom and pop diner, which is always a bonus. The owners were so nice and took such great care of us. You can tell they have such pride in the service and food they provide. We felt like we were guests in their home. Now for the food... it was great!
