Plenty of free, on-street parking. Smallish interior.. five small tables, each w 2 seats plus five stools facing side street. So, not conducive to big crowds. Interesting specials and casseroles. I had a 3 egg omelet w Swiss and ham. The omelet was perfectly cooked, and one of the better ones I've recently had. There were three melted, overlapping slices of Swiss on top.To my pleasant surprise, there was also melted Swiss inside the omelet as well as a generous amount of diced ham. Does not come w toast or potatoes, which you can order separately. Thankfully, I didn't as I was pretty stuffed. Coffee was eggggcellent. Cute but small shop on Main St. Clean and cute backdrop to take a photo. Nice for small intimate groups. Food is mediocre. Nothing special, same breakfast items you can get at many places. Nothing popped out at me. Service is good. There is a pastry case where you can see and purchase sweets. The savory items are cooked when ordered so it does take a fair amount of time but it's expected. I appreciate cooked to order food and it comes out immediately after it's finished. A lot of take out and grab and go patrons were there when I sat and enjoyed breakfast. read more

Updated review: It needs work. I kind of debated if I was going to update this review or not. Mainly because my last experience at this location was so-so, and I hoped that they would improve as they learned and went along. Sadly, it kind of looks like they took a slide. I came into this location looking to try something different. I got their chicken and waffles breakfast sandwich, since they didn't really have a lot of breakfast options on their menu. I kind of figured that they might've expanded their breakfast fare, since pancakes, french toast, and eggs are all simple and tasty if done correctly. But if anything, it kind of looks like they removed items from their menu One of the issues I have with this location is that they have this big display case showing off their baked goods, but it's all pre-portioned out and wrapped in plastic wrap on plates. then those plates are stacked on top of each other, crushing the cake pieces underneath. Another issue I have is that they pretty much deal in generic cakes. most of their display pieces look like a mom who's making a birthday cake for her kids. No real effort in presentation, just a piece of cake made from a box, cooked in a 9x13 baking tray with frosting put on top. it could be the tastiest cake in the world, but there's no effort put in to make it look good. These are the pre-portioned cake pieces you're putting out to get people to buy those cakes, they have to look tasty if people are going to buy them. These cakes would probably go well if you're really in the mood for that style of cake, like at a truck stop or a college dorm. But this is main street manchester, there's no colleges around and the highway's too far out for a trucker to hunt this place down. Something as simple as leveling the cakes, stacking them, and layering the frosting would be a significantly better presentation and would sell more cake. But they don't do that, they whip up a quick cake, throw it on a plate, then put that in a giant display case for the world to see, then pile the cake pieces on top of each other. But I digress. After 30 minutes, I get my sandwich and it's very lackluster. The waffle is soft, it's studded with these flavorless canned peaches, the breading of the chicken is unseasoned and very oily, the cook is uneven, and the maple mayo was flavorful, but in very tiny quantities. To their credit, the bacon was crispy and I liked their cheese. The only highlights to a generally not great meal. I've given feedback directly before to this location, in hopes that they would iron out the wrinkles. This time, I didn't bother. Price was okay for the giant portion I got, but the quality was lackluster. I was so disgusted that I only ate a small portion, handed back the rest, and didn't even bother in claiming the piece of cake that I purchased. Pennys is a sunny little nook in downtown Manchester. It has 5 2-person tables and a bar facing the outside window. It's got a good friendly vibe inside and it's warm (probably around 73f). I have supported Penny's from the start as they offer a variety of gluten free options including baked goods. I have dined in but mostly order to go and I have never had any issues with the service or food quality. As a small business they take the time to get to know their customers and make everything in house. For those complaining about the prices, they are no different than other establishments. And in this economy we cannot expect to pay low prices for eating out. read more

Love this place. We both ordered one of the French toast casseroles. My apple bacon was full of flavor, tasting of apples, bacon, and custard in every bite. Crispy bits of toast on top and creamy inside. He said he didn't taste much apple on his apple Gouda, but probably because there was a ton of cheese on it. Coffee was good. I DoorDashed their breakfast casserole on a Friday and it was rancid. They gave you this gigantic piece, you could tell they were trying to get rid of it. The cream was sour. You can't keep casseroles with cream longer than two days or it turns. It was also incredibly mushy. read more

I had the Apple Sausage Gouda Casserole. It's a breakfast casserole. Incredible! The flavor was wonderful. A little sweet, savory, and slightly smoky. Portion size was good and very satisfying. Lots of protein in this with eggs and sausage. Food came out quickly. Small tables out front (not sure if there is more seating anywhere) which best seat 2 people max. Penny's place opened about a year ago. My wife ate there at that time and was not impressed. WOW, the changes that a year can make. We are looking for a new place to eat breakfast since our prior favorite has closed. This place has made the short list. Our meals were awesome. The service was excellent. I'm so glad we came here. We arrived for brunch. We had just come from The Angry Egg cafe. There, we were on a waiting list to be called later. It was cold and rainy, and I was standing inside, but the woman at The Angry Egg said I had to wait outside until called. Well, that was it. I walked out and kept walking up the street. At Yelp's suggestion we found Penny's. What a difference! They were also busy, but immediately warm and welcoming. The inside is bright and cheery. The food is delicious and brought out in humongous portions (I plowed through my breakfast tortilla, so no pics). The energy is just positive and hospitable. They haven't been in business long. I should have read the owner's responses to negative reviews on Google before attempting to have my issue fixed Even if it is brought to their attention, nothing will be done. Go to The Gathering, Chez Ben, Pastrami on Wry instead! Kind people, good food, and great service and prices...at those 3 places named. I ordered from DoorDash two breakfast plates and, as shown in the pictures, there is a picture of fried chicken shown. The menu gives "chicken" as an option. I selected this assuming that this means fried chicken as shown. I received sad, cold, plain chicken breast. I called and was told that after running out earlier, they forgot to put the fried chicken button back up. I drove to the restaurant with the food and asked for at least a partial refund, as I have no way of knowing that there is "usually a fried chicken button." I was told that I am at fault for not knowing this button that isn't present exists, even though - how would I possibly know that? Or that plain chicken breast is even offered if there is only a picture of fried? I was given the option of paying for fried chicken - because it is and was in stock - to add to my soggy, cold, white waffles. Yum! We had eaten in person a few times and it was becoming our regular spot, but after the lack of customer service and faulting me for not just knowing what their menu should look like, we won't be back. If they had offered to fix it in ANY way, I would have accepted anything and returned many times for many years and brought others, but unfortunately they would rather keep the $15 read more

I have not yet visited this place myself, but my mom went here today and brought me home a pastry from the bakery. When I tell you it was the best cheesy bread-muffin I've ever had, I mean it. We are sitting at Penny's Place, our first visit. It's a cute spot on the corner of Main and Maple. My husband had a ham and cheese omelette with sourdough bread that was excellent. I had the peach almond casserole that was fantastic. The service was very good. I would highly recommend giving it a try. read more
