    Jalapeno Popper Chicken Sandwich

It was a small restaurant. I wasn't expecting it to be like that. I got a Jalapeño Popper Chicken Sandwich with Sourdough bread and waffle fries. They were average. The service was okay at best.

Pennys is a sunny little nook in downtown Manchester. It has 5 2-person tables and a bar facing the outside window. It's got a good friendly vibe inside and it's warm (probably around 73f). The staff was friendly and helpful. The food looked good. I had some like cheesy hash brown dish. I think it was a special. I'll be back to try more of the menu.

    Chicken and Waffles breakfast sandwich

Updated review: It needs work. I kind of debated if I was going to update this review or not. Mainly because my last experience at this location was so-so, and I hoped that they would improve as they learned and went along. Sadly, it kind of looks like they took a slide. I came into this location looking to try something different. I got their chicken and waffles breakfast sandwich, since they didn't really have a lot of breakfast options on their menu. I kind of figured that they might've expanded their breakfast fare, since pancakes, french toast, and eggs are all simple and tasty if done correctly. But if anything, it kind of looks like they removed items from their menu One of the issues I have with this location is that they have this big display case showing off their baked goods, but it's all pre-portioned out and wrapped in plastic wrap on plates. then those plates are stacked on top of each other, crushing the cake pieces underneath. Another issue I have is that they pretty much deal in generic cakes. most of their display pieces look like a mom who's making a birthday cake for her kids. No real effort in presentation, just a piece of cake made from a box, cooked in a 9x13 baking tray with frosting put on top. it could be the tastiest cake in the world, but there's no effort put in to make it look good. These are the pre-portioned cake pieces you're putting out to get people to buy those cakes, they have to look tasty if people are going to buy them. These cakes would probably go well if you're really in the mood for that style of cake, like at a truck stop or a college dorm. But this is main street manchester, there's no colleges around and the highway's too far out for a trucker to hunt this place down. Something as simple as leveling the cakes, stacking them, and layering the frosting would be a significantly better presentation and would sell more cake. But they don't do that, they whip up a quick cake, throw it on a plate, then put that in a giant display case for the world to see, then pile the cake pieces on top of each other. But I digress. After 30 minutes, I get my sandwich and it's very lackluster. The waffle is soft, it's studded with these flavorless canned peaches, the breading of the chicken is unseasoned and very oily, the cook is uneven, and the maple mayo was flavorful, but in very tiny quantities. To their credit, the bacon was crispy and I liked their cheese. The only highlights to a generally not great meal. I've given feedback directly before to this location, in hopes that they would iron out the wrinkles. This time, I didn't bother. Price was okay for the giant portion I got, but the quality was lackluster. I was so disgusted that I only ate a small portion, handed back the rest, and didn't even bother in claiming the piece of cake that I purchased. I hope that their lunch fare is good, and that they are able to tweak their business practices to thrive. To me, this place is too inconsistent to try again

First time trying Penny's place for breakfast. Really wonderful recent addition to Main Street Manchester. Open for breakfast & lunch. Coffee = very good. Breakfast sandwich = pretty delicious. Cute, comfortable, clean inviting place. Bright & cheerful ( walls are yellow- my favorite color). I will definitely be going back. Their freshly baked pastries looked amazing. Large portions - enough for 2. I also have a feeling that I will up the rating to 5 stars once I try a piece of cake and have lunch - yes, in that order.

Penny. The lowest form of currency and the lowest star total. See picture: what we ordered online. What we got. Would not give refund when we brought it back. Really let this sink in. If you read other replies to complaints, you can see the business owners never take accountability and blame the customer. See below to the reply, more or less called me stupid, case and point

Penny's place opened about a year ago. My wife ate there at that time and was not impressed. WOW, the changes that a year can make. We are looking for a new place to eat breakfast since our prior favorite has closed. This place has made the short list. Our meals were awesome. The service was excellent. Very helpful and friendly wait staff. The space is warm and inviting. The portion size of the meal was huge! We will get at least one more meal from the leftovers.

Cute saying: "Skinny people are easier to kidnap. Eat cake, stay safe."

It's a painting, an arts and craft, a bakery, and a coffee shop. Great place for friends to get together and spend quality time, with great refreshment. They make their own bread, Cheddar scallion scones, chocolate chip cookies, sandwiches, and many other items. My favorites are the different coffees and teas. The staff is very pleasant and helpful, both with the food service and the arts. What a gem to have on Main Street.

Surprisingly good food in a pottery painting place…read more Been meaning to review this place for a while. Each time I'd go in, see no one around, then left. This last attempt, there was a bunch of staff around so I got the full experience. The staff were very friendly and informative. They explained the pottery painting side of things to anyone painting a piece. They had a wealth of knowledge in that regard, explaining how to get the best results for each medium. I wasn't here for the pottery, I was here for the food. So they sat at a 4 top and let me go up to the cafe to order. The menu is basic, egg sandwiches, avocado toast, French toast, coffees and lattes. Some fresh baked pastries available but mostly simple dishes. I opted for their French toast latte and an egg sandwiches with bacon. Also got a cinnamon roll that was baked that morning. Food came out after a few minutes. Not speedy but not slow. Took some pics and dug in. There's a fundamental rule that I follow when reviewing. "The flavors on the description need to match the flavors of the dish." There's sandwich did this exemplary. The garlic aoli had a strong but slightly acidic bite to it, which helped the arugula's bitterness. The egg was fluffy, the tomato grilled and salted, and the bacon perfectly crispy. The soft home made bread was almost too soft, compressing down to nothing after each bite. If anything, the bread could've been grilled to give it a bit more structure. But besides that gripe, it's one of the best breakfast sandwiches I've had. The latte, that's what took the star off. The coffee is giv beans, so a good quality product. The problem was it was extremely, overbearingly bitter. With a French toast latte, you'd expect the sweet to counteract the bitter. But nope, the sweet came from the cold foam and the concentrated coffee at the base led to straight sips of cringingly bitter coffee. After mixing the cold foam into the coffee, it became more bearable. But the damage was done by that point, and my pallet was shot. Had to dump most of the coffee. Overall, it's a neat place to go to. It's rare to have activities along with good food, and the staff there make the experience great. Not too much a fan of the specialty coffee, but the food is well worth the price. A solid food choice for Main Street.

They had a beautiful Turkish Moroccan Mosaic lamp hanging right at the front. I was surprised they had cocktails and alcoholic beverages available. This is not typical in Middle Eastern restaurants. The prices were very reasonable I had to do a double take that they weren't mocktails. Their menu features plenty of traditional meaty options, some fresh salads and appetizers. I first started with their mojito. This was fresh and minty. A delightful cocktail. Their complimentary bread, was pillowy and fresh. Be careful, it is easy to overdo it with this delicious bread. For an appetizer we got a serving of their Babaganoush. This was an excellent pairing to that bread. This was incredibly tasty, you could taste the the eggplant, the olive oil and the lemon juice, together they created a super dreamy creamy combo. I got their version of a Gyro Quesadilla. This arrived with four very generous portions. It was filled with tender lamb and melted cheese. We got a Greek salad to share. This salad was very generous in its size, it was very fresh and tasty. We concluded with their chocolate cake. There were plenty of other traditional dessert options. This cake was very chocolatey and fresh. The top layer was very dark chocolate to me. We had a very pleasant first time at Pasha.

Welcome to Pasha! This place is now a year old! I haven't been here since last January! It's the…read moresame server too! It is located at 397 Broad St. in Manchester, CT. I have not been to very many Turkish restaurants. I believe the last one was in Springfield. They play Turkish music and the employees are all Turkish (I think). The place is really big. There must be [at least] 40 tables in here. Do not be deceived by the small store front. It is very deep. It's incredibly clean. I could even smell the cleaning chemicals at first. They start me off with a complementary carafe of water. It's nice. I don't believe it is tap water. It must be filtered. They also serve complementary bread with either oil or butter. That's a LOT of bread. A meal in itself! For my first drink, I am having the J.W. Black Label Old Fashioned. This is made with Johnny Black Walker, Elderflower liqueur and Angostura bitters. I've never seen an Old Fashioned made this way. This is classy! They use a circular ice cube to minimize the dilution tine. It is perfectly balanced, nicely garnished (two lemon peels) and has a very unique taste (thanks to the elderflower liqueur). This is good! The menus are very nice too and include pictures. The drink menu does not have prices. The decor is nice with a few ethnic paintings (and a few not filled yet). I like the [artificial] trees in the dining area. They hang cool lights on the walls. Nice, colorful, low hanging chandeliers too. For my soup, I'm having the mercimek (lentil). Mercimek çorbası (lentil soup) is the most popular and widely consumed soup in Turkey. Ingredients are typically red lentils, onion, carrot, potato or tomato, vegetable or light meat stock, olive oil or butter, and spices such as cumin and paprika. This came out quick! This is piping hot! The soup is delicious! Good portion. I like the addition of the crushed red pepper for a little kick. Be sure to sprinkle that lemon on it. I love the elongated spoon. They also bring out complementary bread and butter. No butter for me. The bread is good! For my salad, I am getting the Tabbouleh (this is Arabic not Turkish) made with parsley, tomatoes, bulgur, scallions, lemon juice and olive oil. Look at this monster salad! It is huge! This came out real quick! This comes with a lemon to sprinkle upon them. They have great presentation and tastes fantastic! Be sure to sprinkle the lemon. It's like a chopped salad. The Tabbouleh had a LOT of parsley. For my next drink, I'm having the Classic Martini made with gin, dry vermouth and olives (garnish). This is made with Greenall gin. I've never had this before. It's not bad! The taste is a bit off but is still fine. There are a lot of small, floating ice particles, but I don't care. It does , keep it cool, and melts quick. It has a nice olive garnish skewer too. Very good overall! For my appetizer, we are having the Mized Meze. Meze is a selection of small dishes served as appetizers in Arabic and West Asian cuisines. You know me! I loved samplers! This includes humus, babagannush, eggplant salad, haydari, havuc tarator & antep ezme. Hummus is a Middle Eastern dip, spread, or savory dish made from cooked, mashed chickpeas blended with tahini, lemon juice, and garlic. Baba ghanoush, also known as baba ganouj or muttabal, is a creamy, smoky eggplant dip that originated in the Levant region of the Middle East. The dish is made by blending roasted or grilled eggplant with tahini, garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, and seasonings. Haydari is a type of yogurt dish similar to a thick cacık, made from certain herbs and spices, combined with garlic and yogurt. Antep Ezme is made with tomatoes, hot peppers, green peppers, onions, garlic, walnuts and olive oil. Look at this! You have to love the carrot slices dividing the individual items. There is paprika scattered on top. The server lays down the spoons as he describes each one. This goes great with bread! Wow! Is this good! I love the variety of textures and flavors! For my entree, I'm having the Chicken Kofte (flat chicken meatballs). Spicy please! Chicken meatballs aren't easy to find. This is the best! That jalapeño is hot! The salad has a nice light dressing too. I love the grilled tomato! This flavor is unbelievable! It was also nice to have a few minutes to chat with the owner! For my dessert drink, I'm having the Turkish coffee. Turkish coffee is a rich, unfiltered coffee made from finely ground beans simmered in a special pot (cezve) with water and sugar, resulting in a strong brew with grounds that settle at the bottom. It is extremely fine, like powder, much finer than espresso. Black, for me. I like the metal cup, this way it's not too hot in the hands. This is thick and yummy! For my dessert, I'm having the Pistachio Cake. This is a first for me. The plate is nicely chilled. This is real good! This place is incredible! There is no shortage of leftovers. I have at least two more servings worth. What a fantastic meal!

They all seem to add a bit of class. For my first drink, I'm am having a Cosmopolitan. A Cosmopolitan (or Cosmo) is a popular pink cocktail made with vodka, triple sec (or Cointreau), cranberry juice, and fresh lime juice, typically shaken and served in a martini glass. It's known for its tart, fruity, and slightly sweet flavor profile, often garnished with an orange twist. While served in a martini glass, it's not a true martini as it lacks vermouth. The drink has nice presentation, chilled, garnished and well-balanced. For my first food item, I'm having a Chef's Salad. A chef salad is a hearty American main-course salad with a base of lettuce topped with various ingredients like hard-boiled eggs, one or more meats (such as ham, turkey, or chicken), cheese, tomatoes, and cucumbers, often with croutons and a vinaigrette or ranch dressing. I am having vinaigrette for my dressing. Oh yeah! Nice restating! This is good! I see romaine lettuce, olives, eggs, turkey, ham, canned green and red peppers, pepperoni, cheese, picked onions, cucumbers, etc. It's a big portion size for $7! For my next food item, I'm having the (1/2 lb) Mussels. Mussels are a popular, sustainable, and nutritious seafood known for their briny flavor, often served steamed in broth with wine, garlic, and herbs, and paired with crusty bread. They are filter feeders, rich in protein, omega-3s, and vitamin B12, and are farmed responsibly, making them an environmentally friendly choice that improves water quality. These are good you. They are hot. I like the grilled, buttered bread. Make sure to squeeze the lemon on top. This is the "red" inversion (white is an option). These are good! I love this broth! Bogner Quality Meats in Manchester, CT, offers a selection of premium, house-made hot dogs and franks, featuring all-beef skinless, natural casing, and kielbasa dogs. Known for high-quality meats since 1942, they also offer bulk 5 lb packages, perfect for grilling, along with a full service butcher counter. I only get to eat this kind twice a year! This is all beef and locally made. What's better than this?! This is great!!! Love that pickle and those thick kettle chips! For my second drink, I'm having a margarita. A Margarita is a classic cocktail made with tequila, orange liqueur (like Cointreau or triple sec), and lime juice, often served in a salt-rimmed glass with a lime wedge garnish. It can be served shaken and "on the rocks" (with ice), blended with ice, or straight up, and variations include different tequilas (like reposado) or sweeteners like agave syrup. No margarita glass or sake/sugar rim but it is nicely garnished and tastes good. The floating orange is odd. Still, it's quite good! For my next food item, I'm having the Geno's Meatballs. Gino D'Acampo's traditional meatball recipe features a mix of minced pork and beef, soaked bread, egg, pecorino cheese, and parsley, typically simmered in a simple tomato sauce. For best results, brown the meatballs in olive oil, then simmer slowly for at least 30 minutes to two hours for a rich flavor. I like the cheese strips on top. Lots of sauce! These taste great! For my last drink, I'm having a Vodka Mule. A Moscow Mule is a refreshing, vodka-based cocktail made with lime juice and spicy ginger beer, traditionally served in a copper mug which keeps it extra cold. To make one, combine vodka, fresh lime juice, and ice in a mug, then top with chilled ginger beer and garnish with a lime wedge or wheel. It's a simple, no-shaker-needed drink that's popular for its balance of spicy, sweet, and tart flavors. I like the copper mug! It's chilled, nicely garnished and well balanced. For my last item, I've been dying to try the Special- a bork of Legume Soup. Lentil soup is a hearty, nutritious soup made with lentils as the main ingredient, often featuring a base of sautéed onions, carrots, and garlic, simmered in broth with spices like cumin and turmeric, and finished with fresh herbs and lemon juice.
