Kens is a small breakfast place in glastonbury, and there always seems to be a line out the door (for a good reason). Once inside tho, the waitresses and busboys are always super friendly. I love that the waitresses always stop by for a quick chat when they see you. The eggs benedict is super amazing here. Actually everything is but thats my fav. French toast super amazing too, especially when they have the egg nog French toast on special. They always have two flavored coffee options which i love. And the home fries are always well seasoned and crispy on the outside and oft in the middle. The only downside really to kens is the wait which sometimes goes out the door. They don't take reservations and they don't have a sign in, so it kinda sucks for someone like me with Rheumatoid arthritis because I cant stand for very long, so we cant go on the weekends. But we went twice during the week this week and the wait was very short. So if you want a great breakfast at a decent price, nice wait staff, and you're near glastonbury, Kens is a place to check out for sure! read more

Note - arrived here on a weekend with a large group. We waited for quite a while due to there being no reservations, but it was well worth it. We had Sue handle all of our orders and she was more than accommodating for our group of almost a dozen people. Separate checks, a magnitude of questions, and lots of repeated statements from us and her. She has a patience of a saint and such a friendly demeanor. I love the atmosphere and the menu was designed by Sue herself, so we were able to get the best recommendations. Lots of omelets, French toasts, wraps, etc. All the food was amazing, but a common complaint I heard from the group was that the sandwiches were a bit dry or needed a sauce to push it to great. I went here for the first time on the recommendation of a friend. I was eager to try a Reuben omelet she told me about. There was a line out the door but it moves very quickly. A nice lady who probably worked there handed out hot chocolate in cups to the people waiting. Once seated it took no time for the friendly waitress to come over. I ordered the Reuben omelet but I don't eat meat and they were able to take it out. Shortly after, my meal came out. The place is very busy but their efficiency is excellent. Very streamlined. Went to Ken's with my parents who were in town so they could see their 11 month old grand son. Loved the kid's toys outside and assumed it was a family friendly place. Had to wait but totally expected with busy breakfast time and not a lot of options in the area. Sat down and anyone who has kids... when you sit down, your little one is a ticking time bomb. When the waitress came by, I had extremely politely asked when she was doing coffee orders if I could put my son's order in first. The attitude and tone I got actually surprised me. She told me they don't do staggered orders and proceeded to tell me that it's going to be a long wait and there's 21 tickets in front of me. She offered that the only thing she could bring is fruit because of "how long it's going to take..." It was the rudest thing to start the morning with and I was so surprised because of how unnecessary it was. I hit her back with the same tone and energy she was giving saying we were ready to order then. She very obviously sighed and rolled her eyes then took our order. Within 5 minutes our order was out and she even had the audacity to say she was surprised it was fast this time. I get it -- you're running around everywhere, it's fast paced, and dealing with a lot. But don't take it out on the customer, particularly one you can see has a little one who's going through pouches like he's never eaten. I wish I got her name but she had black rimmed glasses, shoulder length hair, black top eyeliner and wore a black thick headband. Well executed standard breakfast fare I've been to this place a few times before. The food here was always done well but never anything memorable. Yet somehow this place was always packed full of people. On my last outing, I realized what was actually good here. It's not that the food is amazing, but the execution is always solid. If you get eggs Benedict, you get them prepped the same way with the same quality. The hollandaise isn't broken, the eggs are poached but runny, the bread is toasted and buttered, and the ham is out of a package. The coconut French toast had a good amount of custard, cooked very well, and had ample amounts of coconut. The coconut was not very sweet and was fibrous, but the rest was great. After going to many breakfast spots, finding consistency is tough. Many times a single experience can be stellar to horrible by a factor of a couple minutes. This place exists in downtown Glastonbury and has been there for years, I rarely visit this place as it's always packed. Today I found time to go a little bit later than usual. Still had a little bit of wait. But got seated. To start with the ambience is gives you an old dinner feeling with hostess going around with coffee. We ordered hot chocolate with whip cream on top. It is made perfectly and delicious. I got the Western Omelette with Fried veggies and toast. My son got the two eggs with bacon and French toast . Portion wise they are huge and delicious. This place is definitely a keeper!!! Traveling for business and came across Ken's on Yelp. After eating Holiday Inn breakfasts all week, I wanted something different. So I thought to myself, "self, let's look for a Benedict ". I see that Ken's offers Benedicts - I love Benedicts. So I thought I'd check them out. You know it's a good sign when it's hard to find a parking spot. Inside is packed another good sign. Had to wait my turn in line for about 10 minutes. It was more than worth the wait. Seated in a comfortable spot with awesome 70's music playing in the background (don't hate me, I'm a bass player and 70's music is the best!). Man it is only getting better! Now to choose. Among all of the yummy sounding breakfast food (Oreo waffles, blueberry pancakes,etc) I found the Benedicts! Not just one or two, eight or nine! Am I in heaven?!? There are traditional, Florentine, Californian, lobster, Irish, veggie, steak, and one or two more!!! How to decide? I didn't! I narrowed it down to two. The steak and the Irish and ask my wonderful waitress to decide. She in turn asked the cook. He immediately said without hesitation "the Irish"! The Irish it was. Imagine (you don't have to, just look at the photos I attached) English muffins, covered in corned beef hash, layered with tender asparagus, topped with a perfectly poached eggs and dressed in Hollandaise sauce. Add fried potatoes and onions to the plate and you have the perfect Irish friendship!!! Let's just say they played very nicely together! Now for the fun! I cut into the poached egg, and a beautiful golden yolk flowed out!! No half overcooked yolks. No slimy undercooked whites. Only delicious perfection!!! By this time my mouth is watering. I can hardly wait for the first bite. Simply put - deeply satisfying! I let out a long sigh with the wonderful flavors filling my senses. Absolutely amazing! The fried potatoes and onions were tender with excellent seasoning. I could have made a breakfast of just those. Finally, if you haven't had a grilled muffin, you have to try it. Not toasted, cut in half and grilled on the flattop. It made the flavors pop! A good cup of coffee made a wonderful compliment. Alas, my breakfast was complete and I had to head to the airport. Upon my departure, the line was now out the door and this was a Friday morning. They said weekends are even busier. Then next time I'm in the Hartford area, I will be visiting my new friend Ken's place. Nutella French toast was divine. My toddler loved the Mickey Mouse pancake. My tomato basil omelette and home fries were excellent, the whole wheat toast was fine, nothing special. Considering the line, it didn't actually take too long to enter and be seated - maybe 25 minutes. The menu was full of several tempting choices, but I ended up ordering one Coconut French Toast and one Pina Colada Pancake. I was skeptical about the pancake, but I ended up enjoying it more than the french toast. Funny enough our first time here was during the pandemic and the era of outdoor seating. I've been hooked since! The Benedict's are always what I go for. Whether it's a lobster one whenever I'm feeling fancy or a corn beef hash one, they're made perfectly for that diner feel. The home fries are exactly how I like them and the crispiness is on point. I also think often about their corn beef hash. They make it just right and it's a great side for any meal. I even enjoyed taking it home. Pancakes on the side is how we do it and definitely large enough to even share for the table. When the friends who've moved away come back to CT, Ken's is one of the places on the list. That's the only way I do weekend breakfast, because I don't like to wait. At 8:20 or so, we got one of the last open tables. By the time we left, there was a short line out the door. Not surprised. Ken's is one of the most popular area breakfast spots. Ken's isn't fancy, but it's comfortable. You can come as you are after waking up. Or you could go before Church. You could take a break from your work day. They'll welcome you. Service is friendly. Ken's has the classics and some creatives. I ordered off the Specials Board. I forget the exact name, but it was something like "Loaded Potato Omelette". It included bacon, potatoes, cheese, sour cream and chives. Tasted great. Looked great. The home fries were well done the way I like without me even asking. The buttered rye toast was just what I needed. This was a great experience after a few years since my last visit. I had the pleasure of trying Ken's corner for lunch today and I am impressed. The service was so quick and accommodating as I came during a busy lunch time for noon today. I was greeted promptly and seated right away. The hostess was super friendly and she got me seated and took my drink order. I ordered the Lobster Eggs Benedict and I love seeing a perfectly cooked hollandaise sauce over a perfectly cooked poached egg. Hollandaise sauce is tricky in itself and the cook nailed it. The seasoning was amazing. Not overpowering on the potatoes and the lobster was full of flavor and buttery. The spinach was a nice touch to compliment the hollandaise sauce and overall I'm so happy with how good this Benedict was. I'm always skeptical ordering Benedict's and many others have failed in the area of great sauce and a perfect poach but Ken's Corner nailed it. My waitress was so nice and authentically friendly. Our server was pleasant, got our orders efficiently, and refilled coffee several times. The mushroom, Swiss, and avocado omelet was outstanding; the avocado was fresh and bright green. We got in early on the Friday after Thanksgiving around 8:15 and thankfully didn't have to wait. However, once we left there was a decent line developing. I ordered the coconut French toast and irish benedict. French toast was super delicious as was the irish benedict, and homefries. Pretty sure the corned beef was from a can which is my reason for taking off a star. I would likely have ordered something slightly different if I know. Honestly order lobster from any breakfast place is risky but I had no issue doing it here. I tried the Lobster Eggs Benedict and it was amazing. The lobster was cooked perfectly and had the nicest buttery flavor. And no, it's not one of those mediocre meals where they throw a fancy ingredient like lobster on top because the eggs benedict itself was exactly how I like it. Eggs were cooked nicely, the spinach didn't dissolve into thin air and the bread still had a nice crust. Trust me I've had a bad Lobster Eggs Benedict from somewhere else and this one erased my bad experience. Their specials are always updated and are very unique. Their staff loves what they do and will remember your face. Everything here is done right and that's why I always find myself waiting for a table. Just keep that in mind when coming here at 8 or 9am! Ken's. Worth the hype and wait. We came on a Sunday morning and waited 45 minutes outside. Such a lovely service upon entering the small cafe. Our waiter was so friendly the whole time. I will say it got a bit hot in there but that didn't deter from the food. The hot coffee was quite delicious and roasted locally! I ordered the special artichoke and feta omelette.
