It's been years since I've been here. The restaurant is located on 40 Glastonbury Rd in Glastonbury. Well, I'm off to a rough start. There's no Happy Hour here and the mixed drink menu has no prices. For my first drink, I'm trying the Mine Hill Manhattan made with Mine Hill bourbon, Mine Hill Amaro, cherry (garnish?) and Angostura bitters. This tastes great! Nice Amarena cherry garnish too. We are trying the Nacho Platter made with tortilla chips, melted cheese, pinto beans, tomatoes, black olives, scallions, sour cream and fresh salsa. This is a big plate! These are really good! I am having the Thai Lettuce Wraps with chicken). You can also have panko fried avocado. It is also made with carrots, charred chickpea quinoa salad (red bee honey from Weston, CT), sesame noodles, cucumbers, bibb lettuce and crushed peanuts. They use a house made Thai peanut Asian ginger and orange ginger sauces. This is real good! It's light and easy to eat. For my last drink, I'm having the Peach Mint Whiskey made with Ole Whiskey Peach Whiskey, ginger beer, fresh mint, lime juice, agave nectar and a lime garnish. The mug is nice and cold. Went today with my daughter for dinner. She ordered the steak sandwich on a gluten free roll with just mayo on it or on the side and a cocktail. I ordered the fish and chips and a raspberry margarita. My drink and my dinner was great. Her sandwich was delivered and had a weird sauce on it that she didn't want. The sandwich was returned and the one she ordered was delivered. She gets this same sandwich every time we go. We ate our meals and then ordered the GF cupcake. We each took a bite and it was awful. The frosting was awful. It was so dry and tasted like it was a week old. We didn't eat it. We told her it was terrible. She gave us our bill and noticed the cupcake was still on it. It was not taken off the bill. We paid the bill and left. We think we will try some place else next time. Seems like the food and service is going downhill. We sat outside as it was a beautiful day. We eat here often because of the GF options but like we said maybe it's time to try some place else next time. read more

Date lunch-in with the girl and we popped in here. I took her to the Manchester one so she was familiar with the menu. I was kinda stumped with what I wanted so went with a soup and salad. Chowder was ok, I enjoyed the salad. Girlfriend ate some of hers and took the rest to go, still think it's in the fridge so tells you how much she really enjoyed it. Ether way, I do enjoy the large menu options and selections. Can please a large party of people in one place. I'm sure I'll be back and try something more interesting to review about. read more

Food was fabulous... my only issue is that there isn't a location closer to my home. My server was very knowledgeable and helpful and the ambiance in the restaurant was nice. Went a few nights ago to have a few beers and watch one of the World Cup games and was extremely disappointed. The bartender was friendly and attentive but the food ... OMG. We were excited to try the food since we've heard so much about the place but not necessarily anything specific. First of all the menu is extremely overwhelming. There were too many options and I'm never a fan of that. Kind of hard to believe food is fresh when there's so much to choose from. Also, they have different menus. My boyfriend had a different menu from the one I had so that was annoying as we had to check with the bartender to make sure what we were thinking of getting was actually available. We planned on eating entrees there but we also wanted to try some apps first. We got the "garlic bread pizza". Probably one of the worst things I've ever had in a restaurant. It was just terrible. All I can say is that was not garlic bread. That was not pizza. I'm not sure what it was. Menu said it had Parmesan cheese, I swear they used that Kraft cheese you get in the store that's in that bottle with the green lid. The garlic was burnt. There was no flavor. Actually there was - it was not good. I'm no chef but I can make garlic bread pizza myself at home and it will taste so much better. We also got the coconut shrimp. Very flat in flavor. Not much to say about that one. I was beyond disgusted by the "garlic bread pizza" that I told my boyfriend I didn't even want to bother with entrees. The game ended. It was our first time here. The waitress took care of us immediately when we were seated. Our food was delicious. The eggplant fries and Texmex egg rolls were excellent. It's alright - it wasn't bad but it wasn't really good either. I ordered the nacho spirited wogj chicken and some of the cheese wasn't melted all the way through but they tasted decent. For an entree I ordered the chicken parm and really liked how to linguine was cooked - Al dente. Chicken breasts were cooked well too. First, they have a large menu with something for anyone and attention to food allergies. I ordered french onion soup in a bread bowl. Most of the soup soaked into the bread so not much soup wish I would have liked to be warned about but know I know to order in a regular bowl. I didn't appreciate being charged $2 to add on different cheese and not being told that at time of ordering. I asked for Mozzarella or cheddar instead. If I go back next time I'll ask if there's an upcharge but typically they tell you. The soup was good and the bread crunchy outside/soft inside. I rarely write negative reviews, but this experience at Maggie McFly's was deeply disappointing and handled in a way that showed a lack of professionalism from start to finish. Last Friday, I ordered the filet of salmon. It was during Lent, and I am abstaining from meat. Our waitress, Alexandria (Alex), misheard the order and brought a filet of steak instead. When we explained the mistake, she informed us that they were out of salmon. That information should have been communicated before the wrong entrée was brought to the table. Instead, I was put in an uncomfortable position with a steak sitting in front of me and no clear solution offered. Not wanting to create a larger issue or send food back to the kitchen, I reluctantly accepted the steak. What happened next was even more concerning. Alex returned to the table and said, "I'm sorry I f*ed your sh** up, I can get you a cheesecake if you want." The vulgar language alone was completely inappropriate. There is no circumstance in which that type of speech is acceptable in a professional dining environment. It was shocking and frankly offensive. To make matters worse, we were charged for the steak, which was not what I ordered. After speaking with the manager, she agreed to adjust the bill to reflect the price of the salmon. Six days later, that adjustment has still not been made. Mistakes happen. What matters is how they are handled. In this case, the mistake was compounded by unprofessional language, poor communication, and a billing issue that remains unresolved. I expect better from an establishment like Maggie McFly's. read more

Rather disappointing service, a wobbly table (ugh!), but the food was ok. We were a table for two on a Sunday afternoon for lunch and somehow managed to become invisible. I'd be more understanding if the place was slammed, but there were plenty of open tables and a solid number of waitstaff walking around. Things started off with an excruciatingly long wait just to get our drink order taken--a beer and a cider, nothing fancy--and even longer for them to actually arrive. No exaggeration, it was over 30 minutes before we had drinks in front of us. The food itself was pretty good. I had the barbacoa tacos, she had a burger. The quality and flavor were about what you'd expect from a place with a huge menu--solid, satisfying, no real complaints there. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and pleasant, which made the painfully slow service even more confusing. It got to the point where I basically launched my credit card at them just to avoid another 20-minute wait to sign the check. I like this place and the food is decent, but I wouldn't come back if I had anywhere else to be--or couldn't devote an entire afternoon to lunch. If they checked in more often or offered another drink, it would've gone a long way. And pro tip: definitely don't come here for a first date. If you run out of small talk, you're going to be sweating it out. read more

Expensive. Recently increased their prices and a small pizza costs $16.95, which I believe it used to cost 11 or 12 a couple of months ago. This is okay pizza, but does not justify the price. The marg flight is good here, but otherwise it's a pretty expensive and overrated place! read more

Wow @ the extensive menu here! The place was pretty packed around seven on a Wednesday night. I was waiting a few minutes and found two seats at the bar. The tables were busy and we just sat at the bar. The bartenders were busy, but attentive. I liked how spacious and the calm ambiance. The booths looked very cozy too. Would have liked to try sitting outside with the fire, but spring has not totally sprung yet. We finished the chips& guac app. It was good although the potstickers were a bit greasy for me. I will say right up front that I am impressed, but also a little cautiously wary about the large menu of options. Nonetheless, I thought the bowl was very good. The add-on salmon was seared just right and left very rare as I requested. However, I am very, very, very disappointed with their lack of care and attention to dietary needs and allergies! I specifically had asked the server, Shannon, whether there was any cheese in the salad, and she reassured me that there is no cheese at all. You probably can guess that when the bowl was provided, there was a huge portion of cheese smack right in the middle, although you can see in the photo it's actually hidden a little bit underneath some of the veggies, but you can see the white cheese sneaking out. After moving some of the food covering it away, you can see that there is at least a huge scoop of feta which I had to fish out to uncover and show the server. At this point, she sounded somewhat dumbfounded, and tried to blame someone else. I suspect that she didn't even mention it when she took the order. After she came back, she assured me that they made a fresh new bowl for me. However, I soon discovered pieces of the cheese underneath the grains and even showed it to her. There was at least four large chunks of the feta cheese, which gave me the impression that they just tried to pull it out of the previous bowl and mask it, which is really shocking, especially for people with allergies. Unbeknownst to her, I did take pictures. When the check came, she expected me to pay for the full price and seemed really surprised that I asked for some type of concession thinking that she would offer at least my bowl for free. Instead, apparently she had to seek permission and only gave me a $10 discount for a $40 bowl. I'm not sure if it's a reflection of the restaurant or the server but nonetheless this is not only a poor practice but actually can be very dangerous. Her own ticket even states that there is a dairy allergy at the table. if the allergies are significant. Not sure how they can remain in business with this poor attitude and unprofessional attention towards customer service, especially during a very slow time of the day. read more

Came with a party of 4, most of the food looked good, I got a margarita pizza to split, and it was very greasy/watery, in the middle of the pizza, and the dough was clearly a frozen dough that was almost raw. Such a large menu certain items clearly lose their quality. We sat at a table and happened to sit at the only one with a bright white light unlike every other table with amber bulb above them. Came in on a busy Saturday night while my son was rock climbing. Our server Jonathan was absolutely amazing as we were having a hard time choosing what we wanted to eat because everything looked so good. Jonathan was very patient and didn't rush us. I love restaurants that have a huge variety even though it's so hard to choose. Drinks, appetizer and entrees were all so delicious, both my husband and I made food substitutions and everything was made to perfection . All food came out in a decent amount of time and it was pretty busy. We will return again next time we are in the area. Firecracker shrimp: 10/10 perfect amount of heat and crunch. In brief: ribeye & filet mignon not worth the splurge. We made a reservation for six at 6:00 PM on a Friday in early June. We were seated promptly. Our orders were taken within about 15 minutes. Noisy (no absorbent tiles on ceiling), conversation difficult. Food did not arrive until one hour after we sat down. During that hour, nothing was offered free except water - no bread nor breadsticks, no chips, nothing. Mixed drinks on the menu had no prices, which dissuaded me from ordering any. The menu looks impressive with many options for vegetarians and one vegan option. My wife and I splurged, she on ribeye, me on filet mignon, $50 each. The ribeye was boneless, and was a little tough. The filet mignon was inferior meat, a bit fibery and not the flavor or texture I've enjoyed many times in the past. Presentation was poor in both cases -- just plunked on the plate, with nothing but the meat and mashed potatoes and gravy (see photo). To get a vegetable, I ordered steamed broccolini, another $7. It was ample, cooked nicely and not bitter. One of us ordered salmon, and it was nicely presented (see photo). Stopped in for lunch and weee seated immediately. Server took our drink orders and left us to go through the massive menu. Menu has everything you could ever want given its size . Actually too much to digest in one sitting. We finally decided on the Waldorf chicken salad with tater tots, bacon cheeseburger, substituting blue cheese dressing for the American cheese, French fries and added French onion soup for an additional charge. We waited what seemed an inordinate amount of time before our entrees showed up. Soup should have come out before the trees but didn't. We'll start with the soup. It was served at room temperature. Not even a hint of it being heated and couldn't even figure out if it would be good or not given its temperature. Sent back to the kitchen with an offer to replace it. No point in bothering as eating it would have meant my burger would get cold. As it turns out I didn't need to worry about that. The burger was barely warm although cooked to the medium I asked for. Burger was seasoned and not bad. Blue cheese dressing is very runny so it didn't add much to the burger. Burger probably would have been great if served hot. On to the French fries, again cold, limp, and pretty greasy. Those got left on the plate. I'm guessing my meal sat around for a while before the server picked it up. The chicken salad was very good, well seasoned. Good mix of chicken, apples, cranberries, walnuts, on grilled thick sliced brioche bread. Herb aioli completed the sandwich. This was a large portion of chicken salad so the bread was put aside. The tater tots looked as if someone took a fork to some of them and mashed them. We did do dessert and I guess these were the stars of the show. Ordered the molten lava cake and the six layer chocolate cake. The lava cake with a couple scoops of ice cream and whipped cream on the side. Excellent dessert. The layer cake was like eating fudge. It was served on a plate with lines of chocolate sauce and whipped cream. Keep a drink close by as this cake is a stick to the roof of your mouth cake. The whipped cream adds some moisture but a drink handy to wash the cake down is advised. All in all a disappointing lunch. Seating is a combination of booths and half booths with chairs on the other side of the table. Restaurant is on the noisy side given its size and lack of ceiling to absorb the noise. Service was adequate but nothing to get excited over. My vote for going out to eat will not be to choose this establishment again. read more

So - Maggie McFlys has always been a solid 4 (maybe 4.5) for me in the past. However, even though we had a great lunch with friends, the Fly (today - the name of the restaurant was an omen I guess) situation was out of control. We met friends for lunch & arrived 5 minutes early. 1. In that span of time, 3 different folks welcomed us & asked if we needed help. Great customer service. 2. One of our friends wanted to sit at a table with no overhead speakers (so noise wouldn't be a bother as we had alot to catch up on), the host was so patient & went out of his way to find us a perfect table. Great customer service. 3. Server attentive 4. Lunch salads were huge & good. 5. The Flies! So many flies!!! I will go back though (perhaps with a fly swatter next time), as it really is a fun place. We opted for indoor seating due to the chilly evening. Our server, Nichole, was very attentive and friendly throughout our evening. She provided good suggestions on the menu for our family. We ordered martinis that were both fantastic. We learned that the restaurant manager created both of our cocktails. Kudos to her! We ordered Mac n cheese bites and Philly egg rolls for apps. Dinners ranged from chicken Marsala to jambalaya. The menu is large and varied with options for all diet preferences. This location has a large bar by the outdoor patio. We never had a good experience here, and it went from bad to worse over the long years. Against my past experiences, I agreed to meet my son & friends for a graduation brunch. The best thing going is the fabulous new staff. Shout out to dear young ALI --ALEXANDRIA who totally rocked our celebratory lunch. What a marvelous personality, a great asset to a once lackluster establishment. FIVE stars to a wonderful young woman who takes pride in her work and clearly enjoys people! This job is not always easy, I'm sure. She makes it a fun cool experience. The food? Fine, and she helps steer you to the better items. Stopped by last night and had a very attentive server. Parking lot was full at about 8:30 pm (on a Tuesday) and my dad had to wait for more to open up. Ordered a Margarita , tex-mex egg rolls and a Reuben and was very impressed will all three! I haven't been here since COVID times but would absolutely be back soon! When my party arrived they had no knowledge that our party of 9 was arriving. Parking was a challenge ( again it was a weekend so we expected that.) We went to the Glastonbury Maggie McFly's after a family function. I've been to the Manchester, Maggie McFlys many times, but this is my first time at the Glastonbury location. It did not dissapoint. We were greeted right away and given a nice booth in the dining room. There is also a bar with many TVs showing sporting events. The menu is enormous. But the good thing is that there's something for everyone, whether you want a burger, pizza, a full dinner, drinks, appetizers... The ladies got martinis and said they were well made and delicious. I am Celiac and this is one restaurant that I have so many options to choose from. It'sI have never had problems after eating at MM's. I love, love, love their Brussel Sprout appetizer, so we split that. The aioli that comes with the Brussels sprouts is delicious too. I had the garlic, shrimp and vegetable risotto. The shrimp or large, and the risotto was creamy. My cousin had the chicken marsala with mushrooms. She said it was very tasty and enough to eat feed three people. We looked at the dessert menu. It's extensive, but we were too full to get dessert. My cousin used the restroom. He said it was clean and well-stocked. We were a party of 7 and there was a variety of dishes sampled. Other than the French onion soup, it was all a hit! The butternut soup was exquisite! I thought about it for days! lol. Creamy with a nice mix of spices. Very delicious. I also had the eggplant fries which were yummy. Don ordered the southern fried chicken and it was huge! The chicken was fried nicely with a delicious creamy gravy and the vegetable medley was a hit. Not your average mixed veggie side, that's for sure! There were two Rubins which looked gooey and full! I've ordered 3 times. 1st time was ok. 2nd and 3rd time terrible. I'm a picky eater. But I do expect you to accommodate simple things. First time I ordered I had the wrong sandwich. Chicken yes but I ordered buffalo and was given blackened. It was a pickup order and the manager was able to accommodate but I had to wait 15 extra minutes. All while the rest of the order got cold. Their online delivery menu does not allow accommodations. I ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich but wanted no Swiss cheese and blue cheese one the side. Their blue cheese dressing is great. I asked for no accommodations and got a spit of blue cheese dressing. Third time I ordered a classic burger for my dog with a side salad instead of salad with extra blue cheese dressing. However I asked with no cheese on my buffalo chicken sandwich (it comes with Swiss cheese), it didn't come with the blue cheese dressing that was supposed to be on it. Very frustrating. If you don't allow special instructions I will no longer order from your restaurant. I'm sad cuz u have good food. But if you can't accommodate my order I'll go somewhere else that can. We tried Maggie McFly's a few weeks ago. I was pulled in by their extensive gluten free menu and the use of local ingredients. We ordered takeout and were quoted a time. Unfortunately, when we got there, they had to re make an item due to it being incorrect. They're super allergen friendly, and easily able to modify to fit your needs- including remaking something! We ordered a burger, fried pickles, and the nachos. Everything tasted great. I loved being able to have gluten free fried pickles and a burger with a bun!! There are a lot of options for food and drink. There is Italian, tacos, burgers. Given the vast menu, most things are not amazing-good but not amazing. We love coming here for the family side where you can take your kids and not feel like others will hear or judge you if your baby cries a little. The service is variable -most of the time it is fine. We've dined here a couple of times, and every time I'm disappointed. The food is prepared poorly -- slopped together. The bartenders have no experience (they'll hand you a can or bottle, without offering a glass), and demonstrate no commitment to their work. The inside of the restaurant has ZERO ambiance. Nothing on the walls, or any decorative touches. This place is a sub-quality diner with a 16 page menu the short order cooks have never seen. I had the turkey dinner. Yuck. I've order and eaten there and I've been happy however my to go order if a lobster grilled cheese just wasn't all that. It tasted good but the amount of lobster that they put and what you pay for isn't good. Would it have been different if I ate at the restaurant? It barely wasn't much on there .do I was not happy. There was plenty of cheese and the bread of course is delicious. It's like Brazil I cheese bread . The fries didn't appear fresh . Not crispy, not fresh at all . And to be 5 min late it shouldn't be so cold , soggy and chewy thst fast . If my order was going to be done sooner they should've told me sooner than 25 min , which is the time they gave me . This was my first time at Maggie McFlys and probably my last. Sadly service was extremely slow even though it was not busy. It took 20 minutes to get our 1st drinks and anither 45 to get to order another round. 2nd round only came after we went to the bar (bartender had to find our server) The menu was far too big that it was overwhelming. I applaud the use of all local businesses though. Just too long to even read The Cuban sandwich was good but dry. If it just had more sauce it would've been delish.
