Effie's is SO good. It is sincerely one of the best breakfast spots you can find in West Hartford! My partner and I went this weekend and our server was so sweet. Service is always a hit here. We ordered one of their combos and it came with so much food. Their pancakes are THICK. It was a perfect way to start the day. Don't forget to order their hot chocolate too!

Delicious breakfast! It was my first time here and I ordered the big breakfast and subbed regular bacon and sausage for turkey. I also ordered the pancakes. They were plain however the consistency was very fluffy squishy, and I almost thought they were mochi pancakes! I really enjoyed everything! The breakfast potatoes were some of the best I've ever had. I would definitely recommend having breakfast here!

This was a very nice experience. Made a reservation for 2:15 and was promptly seated! Lots of open spaces honestly could've walked right in. We went on Mother's Day and it was a super nice day so got t sit outside away from the noise inside which was nice. Our order was taken quickly and I got the Effie's kielbasa omelette and it was very tasty. For $16 it was a steal and super tasty with the caramelized onions. The idea pie was also so good. It was rich and you could really taste everything was made to order. Would go again love their breakfast/brunch options!

I am visiting my brother this week for Christmas and one of my favorite things to do is check out local mom & Pop restaurants or diners. Effie's fits into that mold and we weren't disappointed. Atmosphere: this is a quaint brick building with it's own parking lot. The restaurant itself is not very big but is cozy, not cramped. They have several booths as well as stand alone tables. When you walk in you are greeted by a hostess who seats you and gives you the menus. I checked out the ladies bathroom and it was cute and very clean. The whole restaurant was very clean. No sticky floors with crumbs and food all over. This is just a cute, cozy, laidback place. Service: our server was very nice and dressed festive, in an elf sweater dress. She brought water and then gave us plenty of time to look at the 3 menus she put down. Breakfast menu, lunch and dinner menu and the specials menu. She was very friendly and kept checking on us as we decided what to order. Food: I ordered the Philly Cheesesteak omelet which can with hash browns and toast, my brother ordered the Cobb salad, and my mom ordered a special...loaded baked potato with a cup of soup. The omelet was not too large but a little bland - you will need to add salt and pepper to everything if you order breakfast. My brother's chicken breast on top of his salad was a great size and he enjoyed it with Ranch dressing. My mom's loaded baked potatoes was huge with cheese and scallions and topped with meaty chili, for her cup of soup she got the split pea. Everyone was happy with the portions and the speedy service. Our food came out quickly. Over all we liked Effie's.

Came here with a friend as it was a less than 3 min walk from her place. Hostess was friendly and directed us to our table. We were briefly greeted by our waitress who was already starting to turn away before finishing her sentence. Throughout our experience we were checked in on but again, with emphasis on brevity. She was never rude but did not seem to be that interested in being there. I ordered the tator tot bowl which was served with some pretty over easy eggs as requested. The tots were fresh from the fryer and retained their crisp outside. It was a decent dish but not that filling. My friend ordered a cheese omelette with mushroom and spinach. It looked to be a three egg omelette so it was a good size served with some mashed home fries on the side. My friend had only half of her meal and our waitress cleared our table before asking if we'd like a to-go container. Food was decent, location was convenient but service was poor. Not sure if I'd come again.

Irish Benedict. Really nicely done.

The Mahi Mahi tacos started with a strip of the meat rather than little chucks, so the fish could stand out as the foundation and not be lost in the excellent toppings. Generally, I am ready for the Brussel sprout fade to end - but please keep these on the menu. Excellent. The pumpkin-sweet potato bisque made with coconut milk was a treat for someone forced off of dairy by an allergy. The service was attentive and the restaurant attractive. The place looked spacious and with a lot of light, it looked clean and they seemed to have a nice selection of wines (for those that like it) , they were displayed for people to see, which I thought looked very nice. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and I found it odd that there was only 1 restroom for the size of the restaurant. Our waiter was nice, he took our order and we were excited. The food took a VERY long time, we were starving, and we had kids with us so that wasn't good. Some of our orders were wrong and so unfortunately we had to wait even longer for the right meal. We didn't order alcohol but we did older a couple of mocktails. I was SUPER excited for them because that's something I always appreciate at a restaurant. I'm sad to say that they were AWFUL!! straight up syrup, not bubbly (some were supposed to have soda in them) not sweet, simply not enjoyable at all, I ended up switching it for a simple club soda, I figured it was a safe bet. When my food came out, it was ok, I had the avocado toast, and it was forgettable, my sister had the chicken and waffles and now THAT was the meal to get, it was large in portion and that chicken was beyond tasty!! My other sister has the lomito sandwich with the chips and it was good, something missing but she enjoyed it. The rest of the food were burgers and they were ok, the kids had burgers and Mac and cheese and they were not tasty according to the children's disinterest in barely touching their food (and they love cheeseburgers). I'm always willing to bypass certain things as long as customer service delivers BUT unfortunately they fell short. We were celebrating an engagement and so we were all very happy and in a great mood, when suddenly workers around us were cleaning up the neighboring tables, and even sweeping very close to us. We thought the place was possibly closing? (Even though it was only 2:15pm). I asked if they were closing and they said that they close the restaurant from 3-4 so their employees can go eat .... I'm not against giving them a break BUT, it really felt like they were kicking us out, we felt pressured to eat fast and wrap it up, not a good feeling, when you are in the zone of happiness. It was our first time there so, I would have appreciated if they would have informed us that the restaurant takes a little break in between and then we would have decided if we wanted to stay or go elsewhere. They did bring a little dessert and 2 mocktails for the newly engaged which was nice, I'll give them that. Overall, I don't think the food and experience was worth me coming back or recommending this place, I'm sure there's other much better places.

You can do takeout or dine-in, but even when dining in, you look at a menu, pay at the counter, and then it eventually comes to your table. They have a lot of brekkie stuff--huevos rancheros, omelettes with veggies, sausage, peppers, ham, sausage, etc. Breakfast sandwiches (BEC, beans, queso, ham, turkey, avocado, cheeses). Burritos (chorizo, loaded, veggies). Appetizers, like tacos, nachos, tostadas, and more. Sandwiches (burgers, steak sandwiches). Bowls and salads (house green, classic caesar, burrito bowl). Quesadillas and wraps (turkey avocado, buffalo chicken, churrascov, burrito, chicken bacon ranch). I had the Churrasco. It had a lot of fat, but it was more steak than fat, and the fat came off easily. The meat was tender and fall apart. I ordered the fries, but got rice, and that was okay. The black beans were great. The salad was a little palate cleanser. The thing I LOVED, ADORED, would help me ignore the fact the restaurant was so cold that I had to keep my coat on and shivered throughout my stay--the drinks. They have these great fruit drinks--grilled pineapple lemonade (my choice), homemade horchata, fresh melon juice, watermelon juice, etc. My choice, the grilled pineapple lemonade--I literally sucked that stuff down. My order was neatly packed, and everything arrived intact, which shows care and attention to detail on their end. That kind of service goes a long way, even through delivery! We went on to peruse the menu, which is a bit abbreviated; I assumed it's because they are focused on their "specialty." We took in the views, which, hailing from New York City, were not as vast or fascinating as those we were used to. Granted, we knew where we were and really had no expectations.
