Good food, good atmosphere - kind of an old school place but the food is served quickly and is relatively cheap.

The Mahi Mahi tacos started with a strip of the meat rather than little chucks, so the fish could stand out as the foundation and not be lost in the excellent toppings. Generally, I am ready for the Brussel sprout fade to end - but please keep these on the menu. Excellent. The pumpkin-sweet potato bisque made with coconut milk was a treat for someone forced off of dairy by an allergy. The service was attentive and the restaurant attractive. The place looked spacious and with a lot of light, it looked clean and they seemed to have a nice selection of wines (for those that like it) , they were displayed for people to see, which I thought looked very nice. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and I found it odd that there was only 1 restroom for the size of the restaurant. Our waiter was nice, he took our order and we were excited. The food took a VERY long time, we were starving, and we had kids with us so that wasn't good. Some of our orders were wrong and so unfortunately we had to wait even longer for the right meal. We didn't order alcohol but we did older a couple of mocktails. I was SUPER excited for them because that's something I always appreciate at a restaurant. I'm sad to say that they were AWFUL!! straight up syrup, not bubbly (some were supposed to have soda in them) not sweet, simply not enjoyable at all, I ended up switching it for a simple club soda, I figured it was a safe bet. When my food came out, it was ok, I had the avocado toast, and it was forgettable, my sister had the chicken and waffles and now THAT was the meal to get, it was large in portion and that chicken was beyond tasty!! My other sister has the lomito sandwich with the chips and it was good, something missing but she enjoyed it. The rest of the food were burgers and they were ok, the kids had burgers and Mac and cheese and they were not tasty according to the children's disinterest in barely touching their food (and they love cheeseburgers). I'm always willing to bypass certain things as long as customer service delivers BUT unfortunately they fell short. We were celebrating an engagement and so we were all very happy and in a great mood, when suddenly workers around us were cleaning up the neighboring tables, and even sweeping very close to us. We thought the place was possibly closing? (Even though it was only 2:15pm). I asked if they were closing and they said that they close the restaurant from 3-4 so their employees can go eat .... I'm not against giving them a break BUT, it really felt like they were kicking us out, we felt pressured to eat fast and wrap it up, not a good feeling, when you are in the zone of happiness. It was our first time there so, I would have appreciated if they would have informed us that the restaurant takes a little break in between and then we would have decided if we wanted to stay or go elsewhere. They did bring a little dessert and 2 mocktails for the newly engaged which was nice, I'll give them that. Overall, I don't think the food and experience was worth me coming back or recommending this place, I'm sure there's other much better places.

Considering other breakfast options on this side of CT this is why Kens get a 5*…read more.. Kens is a small breakfast place in glastonbury, and there always seems to be a line out the door (for a good reason). Once inside tho, the waitresses and busboys are always super friendly. I love that the waitresses always stop by for a quick chat when they see you. The eggs benedict is super amazing here. Actually everything is but thats my fav. French toast super amazing too, especially when they have the egg nog French toast on special. They always have two flavored coffee options which i love. And the home fries are always well seasoned and crispy on the outside and oft in the middle. The only downside really to kens is the wait which sometimes goes out the door. They don't take reservations and they don't have a sign in, so it kinda sucks for someone like me with Rheumatoid arthritis because I cant stand for very long, so we cant go on the weekends. But we went twice during the week this week and the wait was very short. So if you want a great breakfast at a decent price, nice wait staff, and you're near glastonbury, Kens is a place to check out for sure!

We had Sue handle all of our orders and she was more than accommodating for our group of almost a dozen people. Separate checks, a magnitude of questions, and lots of repeated statements from us and her. She has a patience of a saint and such a friendly demeanor. I love the atmosphere and the menu was designed by Sue herself, so we were able to get the best recommendations. Lots of omelets, French toasts, wraps, etc. All the food was amazing, but a common complaint I heard from the group was that the sandwiches were a bit dry or needed a sauce to push it to great. Definitely check this out. Be prepared for a wait and a deliciously good time.

The Cosmic Omelet is a breakfast, brunch and lunch restaurant that opened in Manchester,…read moreConnecticut in October 2003. It was founded by Tracy Devine. When she purchased the small restaurant space in Manchester, it was already an existing restaurant called "The Smoking Cafe". Just before the purchase, the Connecticut General Assembly had passed a smoking for restaurants, which was going to go into effect soon. Many of the regular customers were smokers, but Devine soon won them over with her menu of "out of this world" food. The new business was dubbed "The Cosmic Omelet" and by 2005, a beautiful cosmic-themed mural had been painted on the walls of the restaurant. Although the menu also features lunch items, it is the breakfast dishes that keep people coming back. Many of the dishes are named after and designed by staff or long standing customers. If you spot the word "cosmic" anywhere in the menu, it is code for "made with cream cheese". My family and I had brunch at the Cosmic Omelet over St. Patrick's Day weekend. I was first introduced to the place by one of my best friends who grew up in Manchester, and I've been coming back ever since. This was the first visit for my two sons. There was a little bit of a wait for a table, but there's plenty to do to pass the time. If customers follow the "yellow brick road" painted on the floor, it will lead you to a small arcade as well as a funky art gallery space. We all had a fun time exploring until our table was ready. They had a lot of delicious St. Patrick's Day themed specials during our visit. I had the "Sheep Go To Heaven" (shepherd's pie omelet w/ ground beef, corn, mashed potatoes, cheddar & Guinness gravy), my wife had the "Fiesta Omelet" (sausage, onions, peppers, cheddar, side of salsa & sour cream), our sons shared the "Sweet Cream (Green) Pancakes", and we also ordered sides of "Hashbrowns" and "Corned Beef Hash" for the table. As usual, everything was fantastic! The omelets were chock full of delicious ingredients, the pancakes were perfectly fluffy, and the home fries were out of this world! We plan on returning to the Cosmic Omelet again and again!

The look of the place is still a mix of quirky diner and casual neighborhood spot, but over the years they have expanded quite a bit into neighboring spaces. It is noticeably larger than it used to be many years ago, but it still feels like the same locally-owned, friendly, affordable, quirky, casual, bustling place with fun decor that it has always been. The food is certainly also a big reason people keep coming back. If you have never been, you will quickly notice that some of the omelets are creative and a little unusual. A few include things like cream cheese, which might sound odd at first but often works surprisingly well. Of course they also have plenty of classic breakfast options if you want something more traditional. In general the food has been consistently good. The place can get busy, especially during peak breakfast hours, which says a lot about how popular it still is with regulars. Once you are seated though, the service tends to move along quickly and the staff are friendly in that slightly quirky way that fits the personality of the place. Overall Cosmic Omelet is still one of the better breakfast spots in the area. Good food, lots of personality, and clearly a place that has built a strong following over the years. Although I have moved much further away since my 2009 review, I will still stop in when I am back in the area.

"Nothing you could say could tear me away from my guy…read moreNothing you could do, 'cause I'm stuck like glue to my guy" (Mary Wells) We took a morning coffee break, and had a wonderful time chatting, relaxing, sipping our drinks, and enjoying the friendly, mellow, and very chill atmosphere at the Café by New England Coffee Guy. They have plenty of seating, some upholstered furniture and we saw a few Friday morning telecommuters working on their laptops and sipping their coffees. Our order was a Chai Latte and a Cold Brew - each was $5. The pours were very large, and I swear that my cold brew was the very best I've ever had. I love coffee, drinking it hot or cold, and what I had here is in my all-time Top Five Percent. It was that good. I had a sip of my wife's Chai Latte and thought it was excellent as well. What really impressed me were the flavors of both drinks- not overpowering, but strong enough to appreciate them. The Coffee Guy has it all - specialty coffees, matcha, chai, espresso drinks, and pastries and sweet treats to pair with your coffee cup. We couldn't resist grabbing a few on our way out, and we took home a box with a Spinach croissant, iced blueberry scone, and a cruffin (croissant/muffin hybrid). We loved our visit to the Coffee Guy, and I was so impressed by the total experience, I just subscribed to their newsletter. So the next time we're looking for a midday break or afternoon pick-me-up..... I know a guy!
